Sting pinned Paul Orndorff after a Stinger Splash in 9:35.

Even with Harley Race in his corner, Paul Orndorff could do little to derail the Stinger in his quest to regain the world’s title. Sting picked up the win to move on to the finals for the vacant belt in tonight’s main event.

Lex Luger pinned Ron Simmons after a piledriver in 15:12.

Luger survived a very physical battle with Simmons to advance to face Sting for the world title. Simmons had control early on, but Luger took advantage of Simmons’ injured shoulder with a throw into the steel steps that helped turn the match around.
Marcus Alexander Bagwell pinned Thomas Zenk after a splash in 7:42.

WCW rookie Marcus Alexander Bagwell is quickly making a name for himself. Tonight he scored a big win over the York Foundation’s Thomas Zenk.
Vinnie Vegas pinned Michael Hayes after a gutwrench suplex in 6:09

After failing to get revenge on his former team himself, brought in some big help. Seven-foot tall Vinnie Vegas dominated Michael PS Hayes, bringing a smile to the manager DDP’s face.
Johnny B. Badd and Van Hammer defeated Cactus Jack and Abdullah the Butcher when Hammer beat Cactus by disqualification in 10:09.

Van Hammer recruited Johnny B. Badd to help even the numbers against Cactus and Abdullah, and although they got the win, they sure didn’t look like winners the way they got laid out at the end of the match with a combination of steel chairs and Abdullah’s cane.
The Destruction Crew (Mike Enos and Wayne Bloom) defeated The Patriots (Firebreaker Chip and Todd Champion) when W. Bloom pinned Champion after a reverse neckbreaker in 8:01.
(The Destruction Crew retained the WCW UNITED STATES TAG TEAM TITLES)

It was a successful title defense for The Destruction Crew, who’s physical, brawling style proved supreme tonight.
Rick Rude pinned Dustin Rhodes with the Rude Awakening in 13:47.

(Rick Rude retained the WCW UNITED STATES TITLE)
In a good match, Rude dispatched of one of the Dangerous Alliance’s top adversaries in Rhodes. After the match, Rude took the mic and sent a notice that he didn’t care who wins tonight’s world title match, Lex Luger or Sting, he’s putting them on notice that while he loves his US title, he’s ready for an upgrade.
The Steiner Brothers (Rick Steiner and Scott Steiner) defeated The Dangerous Alliance (Arn Anderson and Bobby Eaton) when S. Steiner pinned A. Anderson with the Frankensteiner in 15:42.

Paul. E. Dangerously made a tactical move to not team former world champions the Enforcers together to challenge for the Steiner’s belts. Instead he teammed Bobby Eaton with Arn Anderson. While the two worked well together, the Steiners worked just a little bit better. The two teams put on an absolute classic match with the Steiners coming out on top.
The Dangerous Alliance (Steve Austin and Larry Zbyszko) defeated Ricky Steamboat and Flyin’ Brian when Austin pinned Steamboat after the Stun Gun in 6:34.

The Dangerous Alliance was able to chalk up one more win on their slate tonight with Austin leading his team to victory against rival Ricky Steamboat and his partner Flyin’ Brian.
Match for the vacant WCW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE:
Sting pinned Lex Luger after the Stinger Splash in 17:34.

Sting has done it, now a two-time world champion. To do so, he has finally vanquished the person who has given him issues for over a year when he was disguised as The Black Scorpion.
Sting withstood interference from Harley Race and Paul Orndorff with Ron Simmons and Barry Windham, even on crutches, coming to keep it an even match.
1-on-1, there was no stopping Sting. To the delight of the thousands of fans in attendance, Sting put away his old rival and took home the WCW World title for the second time.
