Total Extreme Wrestling 2005 is a game that offers players the chance to run a wrestling promotions company. TEW 2005 has two main modes. In the Straight Edge mode, the player starts as the main booker of a promotion company. The player will be given goals to achieve by their boss (like having a certain amount of money within a defined time period) and if they fail to achieve them they will find themselves unemployed. The eventual goal for the player is to work their way up to become the owner of their own company. Then get the company from a local to global entity. The Freestyle mode lets the player play the game without any of the restraints of the Straight Edge mode and players can even start as owners of a company.
TEW2005 comes preset with a roster of pre-made wrestlers, although players can add more. The game also allows players to set up advanced bookings, create storylines, be a friend or foe to other promotional companies among other things. The game also features a momentum meter for each wrestler which tracks a wrestlers popularity.Players have to take into account a wrestlers momentum when booking a card to make sure the fans will be interested in the matchups.
