Backlash 2003
Live from the Worcester Centrum in Worchester, Massachusetts
Theme: "Remedy" by Cold
Sunday Night Heat
Matt Hardy and Shannon Moore vs. Rey Mysterio and Billy Kidman
- Ever since WrestleMania, Hardy and Moore have not let Mysterio forget his loss. After losing a rematch on SmackDown! due to Moore's interference, Stephanie decided that Rey should take his frustrations out on the MFer. Matt interfered on his follower's behalf and earned Rey the victory by DQ. Rey's former tag partner in WCW ran out and evened the odds. After this match ended never happened on last week's SmackDown! due to Matt and Moore attack their opponents beforehand, Stephanie made this match for Heat. And if Matt and Moore were to weasel out in anyway, Matt would be stripped of the Cruiserweight Title.
Main Card
WWE Tag Team Titles in Tag Team Turmoil
Team Angle (Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas) (C) vs. Los Guerreros (Eddie and Chavo Guerrero) vs. Chris Benoit and Rhyno vs. Big Show and Test vs. The Brothers of Destruction (The Undertaker and Kane) vs. The APA (Bradshaw and Farooq) vs. Rikishi and Diamond Dallas Page
- Stephanie wanted the next Tag Title contenders to mean something, so she set-up a Tag Tournament over the course of three weeks. The first 3-way Tag Match ended in a no contest when Big Show and Test eliminated the board and took out all six men. The next 3-way tag ended up similarly thanks to Undertaker and Kane getting revenge. On the third week, she allowed each men from each team to pick one competitor to compete in a 6-Pack Challenge with the winner getting the title shot at Backlash. When the match ended in chaos, no thanks to Team Angle interfering constantly, Stephanie decided that the only way to solve this is with Tag Team Turmoil. Can Team Angle walk in the same way walking out? Can Los Guerreros use their usual tactics to survive the odds? Can Benoit and Rhyno, a newly put together team, use their experience to beat the competition? Are Big Show and Test too big and strong to take down? Can the newly reunited APA use their momentum towards the gold? Can Rikishi and DDP win tag team gold for the first time? Or will the Brothers of Destruction run the table and earn their first taste of SmackDown!'s tag gold?
Sean O'Haire with Roddy Piper vs. Scott Steiner
- Roddy Piper returned at WrestleMania! and immediately became an enemy of Hogan. In the meanwhile, he earned himself a disciple in the Devil's Advocate Sean O'Haire. Together the two of them have not made any friends on SmackDown!, including pissing off Scott Steiner, the one guy you don't want to piss off. Scott proceeded to humiliate Piper on Piper's Pit, but Sean took revenge by putting Scott through a table. Stephanie made this match to try and alleviate some tension. Can Scott get some revenge over the legend and his ally? Or will this combination of Piper and O'Haire prove to be enough for Sean to score the upset?
WWE World Tag Team Titles
The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray Dudley and D-von Dudley) (C) vs. Billy Gunn and Chuck Palumbo
- At WrestleMania XIX on Heat, the Dudleys won the World Tag Team Titles. After beating Storm and Morley the night after to retain, Gunn and Palumbo called their shot, having not been pinned in the 3-way tag match. Bischoff denied them their request, instead telling them if they can pin the Dudleys then they would get their match. A Tables Match was made later their night between Gunn and Bubba with Gunn walking out the winner. However, he didn't pin Bubba. D-von and Chuck were unhappy at this waste of time so Eric made another match between the two of them later on. After a hard fought match, Chuck managed to Superkick D-von and score the victory with a pinfall. Chuck had earned them their title shot, but they didn't expect to be attacked by Christian, 3 Minute Warning, Storm, and Morley afterwards. With the looming threat of Bischoff on the horizon, can the Dudleys keep their gold in place? Or can Gunn and Palumbo pull it off and regain their tag team titles?
WWE Women's Title in a Triple Threat Match
Trish Stratus (C) vs. Victoria with Steven Richards vs. Jazz with Theodore Long
- After WrestleMania XIX, Trish was on top of the world as the new Women's Champion. Unfortunately, neither Victoria or Jazz took too kindly to their loss. They took turns beat on Trish all night. Stephanie wasn't pleased and told them that they would face the following week for the right to face Trish. The match ended in a double count out when neither could stop beating on the other. Trish popped in and cleaned house. Stephanie made the Triple Threat Match at Backlash so that the winner would be definitive. Can Trish ride on to retain her title? Will Victoria prove that WrestleMania was a fluke? Or can Jazz unseat both women and regain the Women's Title?
6-Man Tag Team Match
Triple H, Ric Flair, and Chris Jericho vs. Booker T, Shawn Michaels, and Rob Van Dam
- At WrestleMania XIX, Booker, HBK, and RVD were winners. The same could not be said for their opponents. Triple H, Flair, and Jericho took it to HBK and Booker in the main event. Things were looking dire until RVD ran out to make the save. RVD, who is always willing to stand up to The Game, wanted to put an end to his dominance on Raw. The match was announced the following week by Coach. In the coming weeks, a series of matches were placed between Flair and RVD and Jericho and Michaels. RVD beat Flair to retain his title but was attacked by the trio afterwards, being busted open and sent through a table. Jericho managed to beat HBK after a low blow and interference by Triple H. Afterwards, Booker tried to make the save for HBK, but they left before more damage could be done. In the final week and in the main event, Booker T defended his title against Triple H. The match ended in a No Contest when the trio interfered when Triple H nearly lost. HBK and RVD ran out to interfere and even the odds. Can Triple H, Flair, and Jericho continue their momentum and complete their seemingly successful plan towards victory? Or can Booker, HBK, and RVD continue their wins from WrestleMania by ending the dominance of Triple H and his cohorts?
Rock vs. Hogan III
The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan
- On the night after WrestleMania, The Rock made it clear that he had done it all. He was ready to retire and even told Raw that he was done, ending the night by flipping off the people and telling them to kiss his ass. On the SmackDown! after, Hulk Hogan came out and said that even though Mr. McMahon is going to make his life hell, he promised the Hulkamaniacs that he was going to fight for each and every one of them until he held that World Title again. Mr. McMahon appeared and introduced Hogan's next opponent...which was proceeded by The Rock attacking Hogan with a chair, busting him open and leaving him on the mat. On the Raw after, he couldn't believe how gullible the people were in believing he was actually retiring. He's not going away yet and he has unfinished business. Hogan and The Rock's feud is now 1-1 and The Rock wants a rubber match. So the match was made for Backlash. On the SmackDown! after, Hogan accepted the challenge and was put into a match by Mr. McMahon, a rematch from WrestleMania in a Steel Cage. Hogan looked to have things won until Rock appeared, slamming the door in his face and allowing McMahon the victory. Hogan was invited to Raw by Rock and the two had a contract signing where Hogan got the upper hand. On SmackDown!, The Rock returned the favor and was invited. He appeared and was made the special referee in a match between Hogan and Sean O'Haire later that night. Scott Steiner appeared and looked to cost Sean the match, but one Rock Bottom shut that down. Hogan looked to attack Rock, but a lead piper by Piper shut that down. After a Widowmaker, O'Haire picked up a pinfall victory over Hogan. On the next week, the two traded potshots with Raw being a promo battle between the two that ended with a Hogan beatdown. On SmackDown!, Rock managed to goad Hogan into a match that night between the two. It didn't happen and instead, Rock beatdown Hogan with a chair, busting him open and sending him off the stage. Is Hogan going to be in good enough shape to show up, let alone win the rubber match? Or is The Rock just too much for even Hogan to beat in his current state?
World Heavyweight Title
Brock Lesnar (C) vs. John Cena
- A tournament was made on SmackDown! to crown a number one contender. In the same night, John Cena beat The Undertaker AND Chris Benoit (thanks to some effective cheating) in the middle of the ring to earn his shot. Cena, never one to forget, remembered Lesnar injuring his leg earlier in the year. Cena decided the best course of action was to blindside Lesnar, and it worked, to be fair. After numerous shots with his chain and blasting Brock with the World Heavyweight Title, Lesnar was busted open and left in the ring. Cena hightailed it but did so with a smile. On the following week, Lesnar attacked Cena after his match, getting some measure of revenge. He nearly F5'ed Cena into the turnbuckle post again, but Cena got down and threw him into the post, busting back open the wound but giving Cena enough time to beat it to the back.
Goldberg vs. Steve Austin - On the Raw after WrestleMania XIX, Austin was ready to hang up his boots. However, he was interrupted by Goldberg, who made his WWE debut. The two met in the ring, with Austin trying to get Goldberg to say something. It looked like he was going to say his standard line and tell Stone Cold who was next. Instead, Goldberg just Speared Austin nearly out of his boots. Goldberg, breathing heavily and looking pissed, Speared Stone Cold for a second time before taking Austin's boots and leaving them in the middle of the ring. The next week, Goldberg came out to the ring for an interview with Jim Ross. Ross kept asking Goldberg questions on where he was over the last two years, why he didn't appear when WCW invaded the WWE, and most importantly, why he attacked Austin last week. Goldberg never answered any of the questions, opting instead to soak in the fans' boos. When the last question was asked, Goldberg turned to Ross and looked like he was going to attack him. Austin came out and made the save. Goldberg tried to Spear him, but Austin moved, sending Goldberg out of the ring. Later that night, when Ross and King were ready to sign off, Goldberg appeared and attacked Ross, beating him up for a bit and busting him open. Eventually, Goldberg Speared JR through a portion of the stage. Goldberg didn't appear the following week, but Austin made an impassioned promo, telling the world that his career might not be for too much longer, but at this point, he's fighting not for himself or for his career, but for his best friend. On the go-home show, Austin challenged Goldberg to come out. He complied, appearing and getting into a brawl. No amount of security or referees could keep them back. It wasn't until the Raw roster poured out that things started to calm down. Or seemingly so, anyway, as neither Goldberg nor Austin took too kindly to this and were beatdown themselves. Raw ended with Austin and Goldberg beating each other down.

dhk1989 - 9/11 Finishline - 8/11 henriquesser - 11/11 Asaemon - 7/11 Not a bad round everybody. And since henriquesser was the first one to correctly guess all of the matches, I will allow you to pick a match that YOU would've wanted to take place in 2003. Any timeframe, any pay-per-view, as long as it's in 2003. I'll try and adapt as I need to to fit in the timeline I've created/I'm creating.

Backlash 2003
Live from the Worcester Centrum in Worchester, Massachusetts
Theme: "Remedy" by Cold
Sunday Night Heat
Matt Hardy and Shannon Moore vs. Rey Mysterio and Billy Kidman
Winners: Rey Mysterio and Billy Kidman at 6:27
Result: Kidman hit a BK Bomb to Matt. Rey tagged in and went for a move, but Moore ran towards him. Rey hit a top rope hurricanrana to Shannon. Billy clotheslined both himself and Moore out of the ring, allowing Rey to dropkick Matt into the middle rope, hit a 619, and West Coast Pop to seal the deal.
Main Card
The intro plays with Steve Austin talking about his health and how it fares against an animal like Goldberg. This is intermixed with highlights of Goldberg's various destructive hits. After that, The Rock talks about how he and Hogan are 1 and 1, and how tonight, everything is on the line and he'll be damned if he loses to the Immortal. Hogan says that he has bled buckets and gone through hell to be back in the WWE. He conquered his demon at WrestleMania, and tonight, he conquers his foe. The four men trade soundbites between their opponents before it ends with Austin mentioning that if this truly is his last stand...than the gunslinger won't go down without a fight.
Winners: Team Angle at 14:03
Result: 1. Rikishi tried for a Stink Face to Test, but Show came out of nowhere and hit a Chokeslam to him. DDP tried to fight back, but was taken down by a Big Boot by Test. Test pinned Rikishi. 2. Rhyno went for a Gore to Test, but he moved, sending Rhyno shoulder first into the turnbuckle post. Benoit had a Crossface locked in on Show. Test broke that up, but only suffered a Sharpshooter for his efforts. Big Show hit a Chokeslam to Benoit in the middle of the ring. When Rhyno walked out, he was nailed with another Big Boot, allowing Test to pin Rhyno. 3. Undertaker and Kane spent some time beating on Show and Test, eventually finding themselves brawling on the outside. Show and Kane were choking each other, not noticing Undertaker Chokeslam Test in the ring. Undertaker went for a Tombstone, but Test got down and hit a Big Boot for a two. Show fought out and hit a Chokeslam to Kane through the uncleared Spanish announce table. Show was about to enter the ring, when Undertaker ducked another Big Boot, sending it into Show and sending him to the floor. Test turned around into another Chokeslam. Undertaker then hit a Last Ride to Test. 4. Team Angle came out with a picture of Kurt Angle, an easel, and Angle's gold medals. They stopped when they saw Undertaker in the ring, ready for them. They set-up their easel and the picture, but didn't enter until Show started beating on Undertaker. Test joined in soon after, and they threw Undertaker through a barricade. They then dragged Kane back in the ring. Test climbed up while Show hit another Chokeslam to Kane. Test then hit a Flying Elbow Drop to Kane. The two of them left as Shelton entered and pinned Kane. 5. Bradshaw and Farooq took it to Shelton and Charlie for a bit before Bradshaw went for a Clothesline from Hell. Shelton hit a Superkick mid-move, sending Bradshaw to the mat. Farooq went for a Dominator to Shelton, but Charlie pulled him down, allowing him to school boy Farooq and grab Charlie's hand whilst he was on the outside, giving him the needed (illegal) pressure to score the elimination. 6. Eddie and Chavo came out and didn't waste anytime, taking it to Benjamin and Haas. Things started looking bright, including Eddie getting a Three Amigos to Shelton. He went for a Frog Splash, but Charlie was on the outside. Eddie nailed the move, but not before Chavo tagged in. Eddie went for a splash over the top to Charlie, who dodged. Eddie rolled into the Angle picture, knocking it over. Charlie pulled Chavo off the pin. Chavo kicked Charlie away as Shelton went for a Superkick. Chavo ducked, kicking Shelton and going for a Brainbuster. Charlie pulled at Chavo's legs, sending Shelton down on top of Chavo in a pin. Charlie held down Chavo's leg as Shelton got the pin.
After the match, the two teams continued to brawl for a few moments. Eventually, Eddie sent Shelton into the stairs. Chavo set Charlie up while Eddie nailed him with the picture of Angle. They then went to leave before backpedaling and deciding to claim the Tag Titles for themselves. We stuck on Shelton and Charlie recovering for a bit. We then cut backstage where Eddie and Chavo were walking, talking about using the gold to get some ladies. Shelton and Charlie saw this and hightailed to follow them. Eddie and Chavo got in a lowrider backstage and left just as Shelton and Charlie met them. Charlie began crying while Shelton was just angry.
------------------
Before the next match, we get a shot of Steve Austin's truck arriving and then Austin himself exiting the vehicle. Coach and King are using their "serious" voices, as they briefly discuss Austin's condition heading into the war against Goldberg tonight.
Sean O'Haire with Roddy Piper vs. Scott Steiner
Winner: Sean O'Haire at 6:52
Result: Scott and Sean take it to each other for a bit, with Scott taking Sean down with suplexes and Sean taking Scott down with strikes and throws. Eventually, Piper distracts the ref, allowing Sean to Superkick Scott for a two count. Sean takes it to Scott for a bit, every move he's hitting getting a two. Towards the end, Scott starts to fight back, clotheslining and hitting a belly-to-belly suplex to get back on top. Scott starts getting pumped until Sean distracts the ref momentarily, allowing Piper to hit a pipe to Scott's weakened ankle. This leads right into a Widowmaker by Sean for the pin and win.
After the match, Scott, still a bit hurt, grabs the pipe. He goes for Sean, who gets out of dodge. Scott notices Piper is alone and goes for him. He goes for a swing, but Sean pulls him out at the last moment.
------------------
Before the next match, Hulk Hogan is seen warming up backstage. Cole and Tazz talk about how Rock and Hogan has become this feud that encapsulates a brand, and now it's taking place over both brands. Tonight, two of WWE's biggest superstars will collide one last time. After that, we see Gunn and Palumbo getting ready for their upcoming title match. The two have a brief staredown before shaking hands and telling each other "we got this".
WWE World Tag Team Titles
The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray Dudley and D-von Dudley) (C) vs. Billy Gunn and Chuck Palumbo
Winners: The Dudley Boyz at 10:01
Result: The match is going pretty well between the two teams until the ref is taken down by a collision from D-von. Chief Morley runs out with a chair. He looks to strike D-von, but turns around and clocks Gunn. Bubba is confused, taking the chair from him. Morley looks neutral, but dodges a shot from Chuck. He kicks him in between his legs and lets him fall to the mat in pain. Bubba and D-von confront Morley and the Chief seems pretty neutral. Eventually, he flicks them both off. Morley flees as the Dudleys are attacked by Lance Storm and 3 Minute Warning. Storm hits a Superkick to Bubba while 3 Minute Warning hit a Samoan Drop to D-von. Billy grabs and the chair and blasts Jamal and Rosey in the face with them. Lance flees before Billy can attack him. Billy turns around in a low blow by Morley, the former dropping the chair. Morley hits a Blue Thunder Bomb to Billy onto the chair. Lance gets the ref back in the ring as Morley puts D-von over Billy's chest. That'll do it.
After the match, they bust out a few tables. Jamal and Rosey hit a Flying Splash to Gunn and Palumbo respectively through the tables. The Dudleys start to fight back and get 3 Minute Warning out of the ring, even managing to take Lance down with a 3D. Unfortunately, A-Train comes out and plants them both with bicycle kicks. A-Train hits a Baldo Bomb to D-von through a table. The four heels help set Bubba up, allowing Morley to hit a powerbomb to him through a table. Morley then grabs the World Tag Team Titles, draping them over Storm and A-Train's shoulders for a few moments. The heels throw the belts down onto D-von and Bubba before all leaving together.
------------------
Before the next match, we see a door labeled Goldberg, allowing Coach and King some more time to build up Goldberg as the monster that he is, and remind everyone what he did to JR. It makes them wonder what he could do to Austin.
WWE Women's Title in a Triple Threat Match
Trish Stratus (C) vs. Victoria with Steven Richards vs. Jazz with Theodore Long
Winner: Jazz at 7:50
Result: The match starts and almost immediately the ref throws out Long and Richards. Richards doesn't leave willingly, allowing Long to nail Stratus in the back of her head with his shoe. He turns around into Victoria, who goes for a Widow's Peak. Jazz stops him and they begin to fight. Long and Richards then leave. After a bit of three-way brawling, Jazz hits a Powerbomb to Victoria. Trish breaks up the pin. Trish and Jazz start to fight with Trish ducking a clothesline. She goes for a Chick Kick, but Jazz catches it. She goes for a Powerbomb, but Trish reverses it into a hurricanrana. Trish goes for another Chick Kick, but Victoria turns her around. Trish ducks a clothesline and hits her with a Chick Kick. Trish runs towards Jazz, who lowers the top rope, sending Trish careening to the floor. Jazz covers Victoria and picks up the scraps to win.
------------------
Before the next match, we head backstage where Booker, HBK, and RVD talk a bit about the match to come. Booker says he wants HHH, HBK says he wants Y2J. RVD calms down any posturing and says he's got Flair. All three of them want to put an end to to Triple H's power. RVD knows he can trust Booker and the two of them know that they can trust HBK to take it to HHH when it counts. Tonight, it's Survivor Series all over again babey. RVD puts his fist in. After a bit, HBK does the same. Booker hesitates a bit before smirking, joining the three in unity.
After that, we see Triple H, Flair, and Jericho giving an interview with Lilan Garcia. Lilian asks Triple H was his thoughts are on Booker walking into his first PPV with the WWE Title. He isn't worried and says that Booker had the adulation, he had the pomp and the hype at Mania, but this is Backlash, this is the time where the real champions prove themselves. Booker may not be everything he said he was, but he knows the one thing Booker is...is a one hit wonder. Jericho pipes in and starts to say some stuff about HBK, but HHH stops him, telling Chris that the HBK ship has sailed. The two look to be going face-to-face until Flair breaks it up, telling them that tonight is about proving that Raw is still their show and that these dissenters tonight will learn that when you play the game...be wary of how dirty...the player is.
We then get a promo detailing how we got to the next match.
6-Man Tag Team Match
Triple H, Ric Flair, and Chris Jericho vs. Booker T, Shawn Michaels, and Rob Van Dam
Winners: Triple H, Ric Flair, and Chris Jericho at 15:51
Result: Booker isn't tagged into the match for a while, leaving the other five to have a moment to hit their greatest hits on someone else. Flair to HBK, RVD to Flair, Jericho to RVD, HBK to Jericho, and then HHH to HBK, culminating in a Pedigree to HBK. Booker then enters the ring, tired of this and takes it to HHH. The two begin brawling around ringside, allowing Jericho and Flair to isolate RVD and start to take it to him. Eventually, after the action on the outside dies down, Flair has a Figure 4 on RVD, allowing Jericho hit a Lionsault to him. RVD kicks out thankfully, leading nicely into ahim ducking a Jericho clothesline, taking Flair down. RVD hits a wheel kick and makes the tag to a now legal Booker. Booker takes it to Flair and Jericho (HHH hiding on the outside), eventually hitting a Book End to Flair. HHH breaks it up and the two start brawling once more. HHH dodges a Scissors Kick, rolling back to the outside once again Flair goes for a roll-up, but Booker kicks out. Flair tries to lock in a Figure 4, but Booker kicks him away into his corner, allowing HHH to make the tag. HHH goes for a Pedigree to Booker, but it hit with Sweet Chin Music, rolling once more to the outside. Jericho and HBK begin to brawl, taking things to the outside as well. RVD goes for a Five Star Frog Splash, but Flair drags HHH out of the ring. Flair rolls in, going for RVD, who leaps over him, nearly taking the ref out. Flair charges for RVD who dodges, colliding with the ref and taking him down momentarily. RVD kicks Flair in the gut, allowing Booker to hit a Scissors Kick to him. RVD goes up top, hitting a Five Star Frog Splash to Flair before rolling him out and joining him to keep watch. Booker pauses a few moments and hits a Spinarooni, leading right into a sledgehammer by HHH. Whilst the ref comes to, HHH hits a Pedigree to Booker, getting the pin.
------------------
Before the next match, we head backstage where The Rock gives a promo on his upcoming match against Hogan. It's a standard Hollywood Rock promo running down Hogan and telling him he's going to win in his own special way. Shawn Michaels passes him along the way, still beaten up from his match. Rock uses him as an example of a broken down veteran who doesn't have it anymore. HBK steps to Rock and the two look to come to blows. Rock walks away, telling him he has bigger fish to fry, bigger than HBK will ever be. HBK stands there not long after Rock leaves, looking annoyed.
After that, we get a video package detailing the over year long road of how we got here.
Rock vs. Hogan III
The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan
Winner: Hulk Hogan at 15:47
Result: Rock and Hogan start off by brawling. Hogan gets the better of Rock, something Rock is angry about. The tides turn when Rock sends Hogan into the turnbuckle post, busting him open. Rock takes advantage, focusing on the blood. He nails him with punches and a DDT, which gets a two. Rock then hits a bulldog from the second rope, which gets another two. Rock goes for a piledriver, but Hogan back body drops out of it. Hogan starts to mount a comeback, but Rock dodges a Running Leg Drop, locking in a Sharpshooter to the crowd's dismay. Hulk fights out and gets to the ropes. Rock grabs Hogan's belt, starting to whip him with it. Rock tosses the belt out of the ring, setting up for a Rock Bottom. Hogan elbows out of it and scoop slams Rock. Hogan then goes for a Running Leg Drop again, but stops when Rock rolls out of the ring. Hogan follows and the two brawl on the outside. Hogan back body drops Rock onto the SmackDown! announce table. Hogan clears it and breaks the count. He goes for a Rock Bottom, but Rock elbows out, allowing him to hit one of his own through the table. Rock gets into the ring, allowing the ref to count. On a 9, Hogan gets back in. Rock goes for a People's Elbow, but Hogan dodges. Rock runs to Hogan, hitting a spinebuster of his own. A bleeding Hogan looks out at the crowd and goes for a People's Elbow. Rock gets up mid-move and hits a Rock Bottom to Hogan which nets a two. Rock pleads with the ref, eventually going for another piledriver. Rock opts against it, setting Hogan down in the middle of the ring. Rock starts to do Hogan's taunts before going for a Running Leg Drop. Rock gets right back up and hits a People's Elbow. Hogan kicks out at ONE! Hogan and Rock brawl a bit, with Rock getting the better of it until Hogan hits the YOU! Right hand, block, right hand, block, right hand, block. Thumb to the eye! Rock goes for a Rock Bottom, but Hogan rolls out of it, hitting one of his own for a two. Hogan does some taunts with the crowd, going for a Running Leg Drop. Rock dodges! Rock goes for a People's Elbow, but Hogan meets him midway with a Big Boot. Running Leg Drop, 1-2-3!
After the match, two have a confrontation. Rock offers Hogan his hand. Hogan shakes his head, refusing to take it. Rock accepts this, nodding and peacefully leaving the ring, giving his props and respect to Hogan.
------------------
Before the next match, we get a video package detailing how we got here.
World Heavyweight Title
Brock Lesnar (C) vs. John Cena
Winner: Brock Lesnar at 14:51
Result: Lesnar uses his strength and really takes it to Cena, dismantling and putting down the upstart at every chance. Eventually, Cena capitalizes on a brush with his legs when Brock got him up for a fireman's carry disorients the ref. Cena rakes Brock's eyes, getting down and grabbing his chain. He blasts Lesnar in the face with it, busting him back open. This nets a two. Cena focuses on the wound, doing what he can to hinder Brock some more. Eventually, Cena gets Brock to the outside. Cena throws Brock in the steps face first and then the same to the turnbuckle post. Cena breaks the count and sees the post. He gets Brock up for a fireman's carry. He goes for an F5, but Brock gets down and starts beating on Cena. He gets him in a spinebuster, sending him spine first into the post. Brock gets Cena back into the ring, beating on him some more until missing a splash into the corner. Cena capitalizes with a (mislabeled by commentary because fools) FU! But Brock kicks out! Cena tries to get Brock up for another one, but Brock gets down and starts taking it to Cena. Spinebuster, powerslam, Powerbomb. Brock starts working with the crowd, getting Cena up and hitting an F5 for the victory. ------------------
Before the next match, we head backstage where The Rock is seen exiting the EMTs room. He looks to be heading towards his locker room when he's met with Shawn Michaels. Shawn tells Rock that it's okay, sometimes losing just happens. But hey, it's not all bad. There are other fishes in the sea. HBK and Rock have a bit a confrontation before Shawn slaps Rock in the face. He leaves before Rock retorts, though he looks pissed.
After that, we see Steve Austin walking down the hallway towards the arena. Coach and King really sell this as what might be his last match and how his health is less than 100%, but he's fighting for his best friend, and the US army might not be able to stop him.
After that, we get a video package detailing how we got here.
Goldberg vs. Steve Austin
Winner: Goldberg at 4:03
Result: The match starts off strong with Goldberg Spearing the hell out of Austin! Goldberg does his facial expressions and sets up for another one. Austin dodges it, sending Goldberg into the corner turnbuckle pad. He turns around into a Stunner, but Goldberg remains standing! Austin looks somewhat shocked before hitting another Stunner! Goldberg hits the mat. Austin goes for the cover, but Goldberg kicks out at one! Austin is shocked! He goes for another Stunner, but Goldberg catches the kick, spinning Austin around and hitting him with another Spear! Goldberg goes for a Jackhammer, but Austin gets behind him, hitting him with hard right hands. Austin goes for another Stunner, but Goldberg shoves Austin into the ropes! On the rebound, he is met halfway with a thrust kick that takes Austin to the mat! Coach makes reference to how that move retired Bret Hart. Goldberg goes to the corner, waiting patiently for Austin to rise. Once a woozy Austin does, Goldberg charges and Spears him for a third time! Goldberg gets Austin up, taunting to the world before hitting a HUGE Jackhammer! Goldberg hooks the leg and the ref counts the three!
After the match, Goldberg looks to the hard cam and gives it a check mark. He then wipes his feet next to Austin. He looks to leave, but comes back into the ring, opting to untie Austin's boots, leaving him in his socks. With nothing but a look of resting anger and annoyance, Goldberg takes Austin's boots with him, leaving the ring and heading to the back, never looking back. Austin lingers in the ring for a few moments while EMTs and referees check on him. The night goes off with Austin starting to move, and Coach and King worried for what the future might hold with a monster like Goldberg on the loose.

Eric Bischoff then comes out, and utilizing Austin's damaged neck and recent health problems and how at risk he will be if he continues to perform, he has no choice but to utilize the medical information as a reason to fire Steve Austin! Austin has been fired! - In related news, to start off that same Raw, The Rock came out to a mixed reaction, telling the world that after SummerSlam, his career...is over. He has done it all and seen it all and he is ready to rest. Before he gets too far, he is confronted by Shawn Michaels and they agree to a match at Judgment Day. - Finally, it was announced on the SmackDown! after Backlash that Hulk Hogan will officially be moving to Raw in a move made by Vince McMahon who wants nothing to do with him anymore.

Judgment Day 2003 Live from the Compaq Center in Houston, TX Theme: "mOBSCENE" by Marilyn Manson Sunday Night Heat
Sean O'Haire with Roddy Piper vs. Diamond Dallas Page
- After an impressive (albeit cheap) win over Scott Steiner at Backlash, Piper immediately challenge anybody on the roster in his place. Rikishi was the first to answer, wanting to stick it to Piper for what he did to Snuka all those years ago. Later that night, Piper took the coconut to the head, but it was a Widowmaker by Sean that settled things. Piper got the pipe out and they were about to beat on Rikishi until DDP came out to even the odds. The next week, the two teams faced each other in a match that ended when Piper nailed Rikishi with the pipe whilst the ref was distracted. Another Widowmaker saw Sean picking up the win once again. On the following week, they were going to face once more, but Piper and Sean attacked DDP before the match began. Afterwards, Stephanie let Sean know that it would be him and DDP facing off on Heat. Can DDP get revenge for his friend? Or will O'Haire continue his undefeated streak? Main Card
John Cena, Test, and Matt Hardy with Shannon Moore vs. Chris Benoit, Rhyno, and Billy Kidman
- Matt Hardy is the Cruiserweight Champion. He defeated Kidman twice now to keep that title. Following Backlash, Kidman was named the number one contender. Rhyno has eyes on Test for the Tag Team Turmoil at Backlash. Benoit and Cena have eyes for each other since they cost the other spots in the World Heavyweight Title match. In lieu of saving these matches for a later SmackDown! and spoiling them all for Judgment Day, Stephanie made this 6-Man Tag Match in preview for these matches to come on the next episode. Can the team cohesion of Benoit and Rhyno help the outlier Kidman towards their team's victory? Or will Cena, Test, and Hardy's dastardly ways prove enough?
WWE Tag Team Titles in a Ladder Match
Team Angle (Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin) (C) vs. Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio
- This match was originally set to be Los Guerreros taking on Team Angle. Eddie and Chavo had managed to keep the Tag Team Titles for a couple weeks, much to Haas and Benjamin's chagrin. They demanded their titles match the first week, but were outsmarted and left in the ring humiliated and covered in talcum powder (because they were babies about their titles being stolen). The next week they went to Stephanie and demanded their titles back. Stephanie said she'd get them by the end of the night. Los Guerreros agreed to return them so long as they're put on the line in a match at Judgment Day. Stephanie agreed, but Eddie said that it wasn't enough. They wanted a Ladder Match. Stephanie agreed to that too, but before they could return the titles, they juked Team Angle out and kept them anyway. Why? Well they lied! The final week before SmackDown!, it was announced Chavo was out with an injury. Eddie needed a partner, but nobody on the roster that Eddie asked wanted to team with him because they couldn't trust him. By night's end, Team Angle had attacked Eddie 1-on-2 to regain their titles, but Eddie was saved from a worse fate by Rey Mysterio, who ran out to even the odds. The two hugged in the middle of the ring, signifying that Rey was Chavo's replacement. Can the makeshift, last ditch team of friends Rey and Eddie come out the tag champions? Or will Team Angle finally remove the thorn in their side that has been the Guerreros?
WWE Intercontinental Title in a Fatal 4-Way Elimination Match
Rob Van Dam (C) vs. Christian vs. Chris Jericho vs. Lance Storm
- Following Backlash, Eric Bischoff wanted the title off of RVD. He set up a match the night after where RVD took on Storm for the title. Following some failed interference by Chief Morley, RVD walked away the winner. Next week, Eric made it RVD vs. Christian vs. Jericho for the title. Again, RVD walked out the winner, this time due to Christian and Jericho being unable to cooperate. On the week before Judgment Day, Eric booked RVD against Storm in a Steel Cage for the title. This was all a ruse as Christian, Jericho, Storm, A-Train, and Morley all attacked RVD inside the cage, ending it in a No Contest. Morley made this 4-way elimination match for the title so that RVD's odds are the highest yet (and to counteract SmackDown!'s). Can RVD overcome the odds? Or can one of Morley's allies finally unseat RVD for the title and fulfill Eric Bischoff's mission?
Hulk Hogan vs. Goldberg
- After Goldberg's devastating and monstrous destruction of Steve Austin, nobody knew what was next for Goldberg. Nobody even saw him on the Raw after Backlash. The question was answered the next week when Hulk Hogan made his official return to Raw, only to be Speared straight to hell by Goldberg. The desire was made clear, and within the next few minutes, the match was made official for Judgment Day. Hogan knows that Goldberg is on the few wrestlers who has his number, but ever since his return earlier this year, Hogan has made a name for beating wrestlers who have had his number. Goldberg is no different. On the week before Judgment Day, Hogan wanted a face-off with Goldberg. Goldberg opted to stick to the stage as Hogan demanded he fight him. Hogan called Goldberg everything in the book, but Goldberg opted to just walk away. Hogan made chance and all throughout the night, Hogan looked for Goldberg. Eventually, Hogan confronted Bischoff about it, but when he openly mocked the Immortal for falling into such an easy trap, he was on the strike. He was blindsided by Goldberg who Speared Hogan through the wall. Goldberg made sure Eric was safe before making his exit. With Goldberg now on Eric's payroll and Hogan clearly going into a war with a monster, can the Immortal one be the one to slay Goldberg? Or will the monster prove that Hogan is just as mortal as Austin?
WWE Women's Title
Jazz (C) vs. Victoria with Steven Richards- On the SmackDown! after Backlash, Trish faced Jazz in a rematch. Unfortunately, Jazz proved too much and she retained her title. The following week, Victoria faced Jacqueline in a match where the winner faced Jazz at Judgment Day for the title. Victoria proved victorious there. On the go-home show, the two had a face-off in the ring with Steven and Long making their positions known. Long tried to interfere, but Jazz said she would face Victoria alone. Flabbergasted and ultimately offended, Long told Jazz that if she wanted to do this along, than she will do it alone from here on out, essentially quitting as her manager. This shocked Jazz, allowing Victoria and Stevie to double team her. It was Trish who actually evened the odds, even if Jazz wasn't at all grateful for it. Can Jazz keep the title going in alone? Or will Steven's presence be what Victoria needs to overpower the champion?
WWE Title in a Street Fight
Booker T (C) vs. Triple H
- Triple H was officially out of title opportunities after the match before Backlash against Booker. Well, officially, anyway. Following Triple H pinning Booker at Backlash, Eric Bischoff allowed Triple H to be named the number on contender, much to everyone's chagrin. Due to their rivalry so far, Eric made it a Street Fight, to supposedly ensure that there are no more breaks for Booker, no advantages. Booker was ready and raring to face Triple H anytime, so Hunter allowed him a match later that night. Booker came out, but no match took place as Triple H announced that he had tweaked his knee earlier and the doctor didn't clear him (note and all). Eric allowed him a replacement, leading to Booker then facing A-Train. Booker dispatched A-Train, but only after taking a beating. HHH and Flair beat on Booker afterwards. The next week, Booker demanded a match against HHH. HHH agreed. Later on, as Booker was ready to go, HHH again cited injury, this his back was giving him problems, but Eric again allowed a replacement: a returning Mark Henry! Henry took it to Booker, beating him senseless, with Henry wanting Booker to stop fighting. Mark missed a splash in the corner to allow Booker the win. Afterwards, HHH and Flair were going to continue their beating, but Henry made the save. On the go-home show, the four men faced in a tag match with HHH afraid enough of Henry to back away, allowing Booker to pin Flair. With Triple H out of excuses heading into Judgment Day, will the no rule environment be what it takes to regain his title? Or will Booker T prove to The Game that he isn't a one-hit wonder in front of his hometown?
World Heavyweight Title in a Fatal 4-Way Elimination Match
Brock Lesnar (C) vs. Big Show vs. Kane vs. The Undertaker
- Stephanie wanted a huge match for the title going into Judgment Day. She announced a Fatal 4-way elimination match for the World Heavyweight Title, something Lesnar had agreed to. The Undertaker defeated John Cena thanks to his own hubris. Big Show defeated Chris Benoit after Cena attacked Benoit with the chain. This was due to Benoit snubbing Cena earlier. Kane was set to face Hulk Hogan in the main event, but following Hogan announcing his departure from SmackDown!, a replacement was needed. After all of Cena's pleading, he was given another shot. This time, it was Benoit interfering which allowed Kane to beat Cena. With the field set, the following week a showcase match where Undertaker faced Kane and Show in a Triple Threat Match with Lesnar at ringside. Despite what some may think going in, it was Kane who pinned Show to come out the winner. On the go-home show, Lesnar went one-on-one with Show in a Last Man Standing Match. Lesnar managed to keep Show down long enough for a 10 count. After the match, Test and Cena tried to make themselves known, but where taken out by Kane and Undertaker. Kane then turned around and hit a Chokeslam to his own brother. Kane went for Lesnar, who got down and hit him with an F5, laying him out and leaving all four men on the mat. With that Last Man Standing match still fresh on his body, can Lesnar overcome the odds and retain his title? Or will Big Show's size be enough to unseat his foe? Can The Undertaker claim his first chance at the Big Gold? Or can Kane continue his winning ways straight to only his second World Title?
First Time Ever
The Rock vs. Shawn Michaels
- At Backlash, The Rock snubbed Shawn Michaels for his loss. Later that night, Michaels slapped Rock following his loss. On the Raw after, The Rock announced he was retiring after SummerSlam, something that was interrupted by Shawn Michaels. HBK challenged Rock to a match at Judgement Day, the first time ever. A match to prove that between the two of the, who really was the biggest fish in WWE's ocean. Rock accepted before letting HBK know that Rock might be a fish in an ocean, he's a whale...in a tear drop before hitting a Rock Bottom to HBK. The next week, they had a contract signing where Rock let it known that the only reason they never had a match was because by the time The Rock became THE biggest thing in wrestling, Shawn Michaels had already broken his back and walked away. HBK let Rock know that any history they might have starts and ends with Rock's family and with HBK hitting Sweet Chin Music to Rock all those years ago (which was showcased when HBK was the special ref during a Triple H and Rock title match). HBK then tells Rock that he will be repeating history when he does it to Rock again. The two looked like things where going to break down, but HBK feigned his finisher. Rock jumped back, but things otherwise ended amicably. On the go-home show, HBK faced a wrestler of Rock's choosing, and The Rock chose him to face Chris Jericho. HBK beat Jericho after a well timed Sweet Chin Music. The Rock looked to jump HBK afterwards, but almost took one of his own before getting out of dodged. Later that night, The Rock took on a wrestler of HBK's choice, and it turned out to be HBK! The two started a brawl around the ring that spilled out around the ring. Security and referees did a good job of separating them for a bit, but things took a turn for the worst when HBK got free long enough to hit a Sweet Chin Music to The Rock in the middle of the ring. With the memory of the past lingering on The Rock, can the Brahma Bull defeat HBK in this first time ever affair? Or can Shawn Michaels hit that Sweet Chin Music when it counts to walk away the winner?
