The inaugural episode of AEW Dynamite kicks off with Tony Schiavone, Jim Ross and Excalibur welcoming us to a new era in professional wrestling before the first ever AEW World Champion Chris Jericho comes to the ring and cuts a promo about how he has already single-handedly taken AEW to the next level and that he will now be known as Le Champion! He says that nobody on the entire roster is worthy of challenging him for the title. Jon Moxley interrupts but Jericho laughs him off, saying he already had his opportunity but Moxley pulls a contract out of his pocket showing that he will be receiving a rematch, tonight! Jericho is absolutely livid as the fans roar their approval.
SoCal Uncensored (Christopher Daniels and Scorpio Sky) defeated Private Party (Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen) via pinfall at 7:24
A decent back and forth tag team match that saw Daniels get the pinfall on Kassidy after hitting the Angel's Wings
A pre-taped video package is shown featuring Evil Uno who says that the Dark Order is going to take over AEW and that The Exalted One will not let anyone get in their way. He also encourages everyone to join the Dark Order.
Awesome Kong defeated Kris Statlander via pinfall at 5:33 to advance in the AEW Women's Championship Tournament
Statlander put up a good fight but Kong hit her with the Awesome Bomb to get the pinfall
Following a commercial break, Salina de la Renta makes her way to the ring and invites the AEW Tag Team Champions Santana and Ortiz and they make their way to the ring. Salina talks about how she saw the two as winners and that she only manages winners so it made sense to her. She also says that this is just the beginning and that the Latino Nation will make their presence felt in AEW.
Cody is in the back and he cuts a quick promo about Nick Aldis and says that he is challenging him to a match at the AEW Full Gear pay-per-view and that he wants an answer next week!
Matt Sydal defeated Flip Gordon via pinfall at 10:22
A high-flying spot fest that ended when Sydal hit the Shooting Star Press to get the pinfall
Hikaru Shida defeated Penelope Ford via pinfall at 4:33 to advance in the AEW Women's Championship Tournament
A quick women's match that mostly showcased Shida who would hit the Falcon Arrow to get the victory to advance to face Britt Baker in round 2
The sit-down interview with Tony Schiavone and Maxwell Jacob Friedman is shown and MJF talks about how he is the future of AEW and he will be a champion in this company and that no one will be able to stop him. He encourages people to tune in next week because he has a big surprise in store.
Chris Jericho (c) defeated Jon Moxley via pinfall at 17:24 to retain the AEW World Championship
Yet another fantastic match between the two ended with Jericho hitting Moxley with the Judas Effect to get the pinfall and retain the championship
As Chris Jericho is celebrating after the match, Kenny Omega jumps the barricade and attacks Jericho and the two brawl as the show goes off the air.
