After almost being bought out earlier this year, the now Eric Bischoff-owned WCW looks to continue on it's path to challenge the McMahon owned WWF. One of the biggest shows of the year is coming up, as WCW presents it's thanksgving spectacular, Halloween Havoc!
Hey guys, as you might have seen for my introduction post I'll try making a dynasty out of my JoW save. Hope to be able to make it interesting. I didn't get into wrestling until the late 00's, so I never really got to experience WCW in it's plenitude. Still, it's more fun to play as the underdog and we're going to try to reach the WWF.
In this mod, instead of the WWE buyout, WCW is sold to Eric Bischoff who tries to keep the company running without the Ted Turner money. The game starts in 2001 with the first show being WCW Greed and there are 2 episodes of Nitro between each monthly event (I can change this, but 2 seems good enough for the speed I'm looking for). My competitors are ECW, CZW, XPW and, of course, Vince McMahon's WWF. I've played a bit already, and we're currently in the leadup to Halloween Havoc. Further posts will include the roster, championship history and the PPVs I've done so far.
Scott Steiner and the WCW World Heavyweight Championship have been inseparable for nearly the entirety the past year. Big Poppa Pump hasn't necessarily been the most honorable of champions, but nonetheless he has been able to hold off the challengers that have step forward. That's also what happened in the main event of Fall Brawl, when the opportunistic sense of the genetic freak was in full display in a triple threat match against Booker T and Ric Flair. In the late stages on the match Booker would hit the Harlem Hangover on the Nature Boy, however he would be unable to capitalize on it due to the weakened state of his knee and instead it was Steiner that reached for a cover, pinned Flair and retained possession of his title.
At Halloween Havoc Booker gets one more chance, and this time there will be no third man. Steiner has talked very positively about his chances, and made sure to remember everyone about his past wins over the former one of WCW's most decorated wrestlers. But Booker claims he has not lost hope, and is poised to win the top title in all of wrestling for the 4th time in his career.

Is it Booker's time?

Chosen No More: a tale of frustration, jealousy and now... revenge?

When asked to name the start of Jeff Jarrett's fall from grace, opinion will likely be divided and people will point to different moments in the past year and a half. When we asked Double J himself, there seemed to be no doubt in his mind: March 18th 2001. On that day, WCW would host Greed, and Jarrett would be decimated by Goildberg in only 34 seconds. The "Chosen One" clearly took the devastating loss hard, as for a couple of months he seemed incapable of grabbing a win. And that's exactly why, on the Monday Nitro after the Great American Bash, Jarrett decided to elimnate the root of his problems. He would launch a vicious attack on Goldberg, ending it all with his trademark guitar shot and putting "Da Man" on the shelf. Now Double J could have the spotlight once again, and could start the road to the main event spot that he believes he deserves.
But then enters a returning star, a man looking to progress on that very same road: Chris Jericho. To the adulation of fans worldwide, Lionheart would return to WCW on the same day as Jarrett's cathartic attack, and Jarrett would take exception to this, immediately setting his sights on Jericho to start a heated rivalry. The two have been competing for that spotlight ever since, with Jarrett grabbing a dubious win at Bash at the Beach, Jericho making it even at Road Wild, and Double J getting his advantage back at Fall Brawl.
Another match between the two rivals is now scheduled for the next episode of Monday Nitro, however there's suddenly one more factor to add to this equation: Da Man is Back! Goldberg has returned from injury, and will no doubt be looking to get payback on Jarrett soon. Will Goldberg's rage get in the middle of Jericho and Jarrett's ambitions? Will Jarrett pay the price of his transgressions, or will Goldberg and Jericho get in eachother's way?

Terry Funk has always been crazy, so it wasn't really a surprise when the beloved legend kept picking a fight with Fit Finlay, a man who also loves a good fight. It seemed pretty natural, and no one thought that much of it. It also didn't come as a surprise when one half of the most legendary tag team of all time decided to team up with another skilled veteran in Shane Douglas. After all, it's not like either of them were doing much. But to understand how the issue envolving these 4 men developed we have to rewind the tape just a bit.
We start in March at Greed, where Rick Steiner would defend his WCW United States title against both Funk and Finlay. The finish of the match would see Funk hit a piledriver on Steiner and them Finlay, in classic villanous fashion, would slide in from behind, throw the Hardcore Cowboy out of the ring and pin the fallen Steiner to win the US title for the first time in his long career. The next night on Nitro, Steiner would fail to take back the title in his contractually promised rematch, freeing the way for Terry Funk to challenge the champion, rightly believing he has a legitimate claim for a title shot. The match would take place 2 weeks later, and Finlay would pin Funk after hitting him over the head with a shillelagh, a traditional Irish club. The cheating tactics employed by the Irishman would understandably drive the already crazy Terry Funk even crazier, and the two would start violently brawling every time they saw eachother, with Funk attacking Finlay time and time again, even interfering in a Finlay title defence against Diamond Dallas Page and awarding the US champion a win via DQ. To settle this issue WCW management would grant Terry Funk one more shot at Finlay and the United States title, at Slamboree, where Finlay would once again defeat Funk, this time completely legitimately. But the real headline would happen after the match as Finlay was celebrating, Terry Funk would take the Irishman's shillelagh and crack him over the head with it, before removing the padding on the ringside area and hitting a piledriver to Finlay on the floor. Finlay would sustain a neck injury, forcing him to vacate the title. Funk would demand to be inserted into the match to crown a new champion, and would face DDP at the Great American Bash. The match would reach it's final stage when, as Page had Funk set for the Diamond Cutter, Shane Douglas would come out and get on the ring apron, distracting both the referee and DDP, the latter of which would turn into a shillelagh shot from Animal, that allowed Funk to pin DDP and win his 3rd United States Championship. The trio of Funk, Animal and Douglas would become known to us as The Old Country and would prove themselves as a force to be reckoned with, working together to help Funk keep his US title in several instances, and even winning the WCW World Tag Team Championship last month.
However, comeuppance could be on the card soon for the three vetarans. Fit Finlay would return to action last August, and after re-establishing himself as a top contender he would set his sights on Terry Funk again. After Funk's latest successful title defence against Rey Misterio Jr., the fighting Irishman would get into the ring and do just that, forcing Funk to slide out of the ring and watch as Finlay lifted some believe he rightfully owns. The two veterans are now set for an explosive confrontation, as Finlay has requested an opportunity to challenge Funk at Halloween Havoc.
