Main Event - Bruno Sammartino vs Billy Graham - WWWF World Heavyweight Title Match [88]
Billy Graham finally gets his title shot against the ''Italian Superman'', Bruno Sammartino. Seemingly even matched, Billy Graham has youth and confidence on his side whilst Bruno Sammartino has experience and the fans well and truly in his corner. Both men begin with a lock up with Billy Graham getting the advantage by shoving Bruno Sammartino back to his corner. Sammartino goes back for a lock up but again is overpowered. Sammartino goes back a third time and holds his own, even managing to take Graham down to the mat but the ''Superstar'' quickly wriggles out and is back to his feet. A fourth lock up commences as Billy Graham forces Bruno Sammartino's shoulder down to the match - One...Easy Kick Out!

Unsettled by losing the power battle, Bruno Sammartino raises his hand for a test of strength which Billy Graham engages, immediatley taking the advantage as Bruno drops to his knees. The crowd cheer Bruno on, giving him the momentum he needs to work his way back to his feet before shifting the advantage leaving Billy Graham down on his knees. Graham drags Bruno lowers and presses the champion over his head using his legs before going for a pinfall - One...Two...Kick Out! Its not going to end this easily. Graham hits the ropes and attempts a clothesline which Sammartino ducks before attempting the same move that Graham mangages to leap frog over and hit a big boot. The ''Superstar'' charges at Sammartino but he manages to drop the rope sending Graham to the outside.

Bruno Sammartino allows Billy Graham space to re-enter the ring as both men stare eachother down. Both competitors hit the ropes at the same time and connect with a shoulder charge which has zero effect. A second time sees the same result - it's as though the unstoppable force has met the immovable object. Both men hit the ropes a third time as they each hit a clothesline which sends both men down on the ground but they manage to arise before referee, Dick Kroll, can get to the ten-count.

The speedier Billy Graham manages to take the advantage quicker than his opponent as he wrestles Bruno Sammartino down to the mat and begins to attack him on the ground before using the ropes to choke him - Dick Kroll forces the rope break before having a stern word with the ''Superstar''. Billy Graham attempts a shoulder charge whilst Sammartino is in the corner but Bruno manages to avoid this sending Graham in to the steel ring post causing a cut on the challengers forehead. Bruno keeps up the attack, targeting the wound with a combination of strikes. However, one is caught allowing Billy Graham to lock in the bearhug. Another elbow to the cut of Billy Graham forces him to let go of the hold as Sammartino hits a suplex followed by a series of elbows before attempting the cover - One...Two...Kick Out! Billy Graham isn't giving in that easily.

Bruno Sammartino rallys on the crowd momentum and he hit a backdrop suplex followed by a chinlock. Billy Graham fights back with some elbows to the guts as he reverses the hold. Now stuck in the chinlock himself, Bruno Sammartino uses the ropes to push Graham away as another simultaneous clothesline leaves both men down. Despite the blood soaked blond locks coming from his wound, Billy Graham is first to his feet. He flexes his arms before delivering a strike to Sammartino which is ducked under. Bruno goes for strikes of his own which connect, but dont phases the challenge. Welcoming the oncoming blows, Graham grips Sammartino by the throat and launches his in to the corner. An incredibly powerful Irish whip sends the champions crashing hard in to the turnbuckle and rebounding back in to a powerslam by Graham. This is followed by an enormous leg drop and a pinfall - One...Two...Kick Out! Bruno Sammartino may have kicked out but he stays down on the ground.

Billy Graham once again goes for the bearhug which leaves Bruno Sammartino fading. Dick Kroll raises the arm of Sammartino as he seems passed out. One arm raise...two arms raises...but on the third, the champion regains his consciousness before fighting out of the move with some punches to the face. Sammartino hits the ropes but Graham ducks sending Bruno getting stunned by the ropes. Graham begins to choke Bruno in the ropes once again which Dick Kroll interferes and takes the ''Superstar'' across the ring for a word. From out of nowhere, El Santo appears to ascend to the rope, whilst the referee's back is turned, and hit a diving headbutt to a prone Bruno Sammartino. Billy Graham notices this before covering  the champion with just his foot for the pinfall - One...Two...Three! And its over. Despite a hard fought 23:52, Bruno Sammartino's 1,008-day title reign has been ended by ''Superstar'' Billy Graham with an aid from El Santo. Billy Graham can now declare himself atop of the mountain as the new WWWF World Heavyweight champion.
