05/10/1993Monday Night Raw is live from the Manhattan Centre in NYC, Vince McMahon alongside Bobby ‘The Brain’ Heenan (thanks to Jerry Lawler’s absence) and special guest Rob Bartlett! McMahon hypes up the show, Shawn Michaels defending his Intercontinental Championship against his former tag team partner Marty Jannetty as well as the return of ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage!
MATCH 1: Mr Hughes w/Harvey Whippleman vs. Reno Riggins Mr Hughes shows his impressive power and throws Riggins around the ring. Hughes locks in a shoulder claw but Riggins gets some offence in with elbows to the gut to break the hold. Hughes straight away delivers a short arm clothesline to regain control, Hughes hits a spinning side walk slam and hooks the leg for the victory.
After the match, the lights in the arena flicker and we hear The Undertaker’s voice! “Mr Hughes…..you cannot kill what is already dead……at the King of The Ring, you will meet your maker. You will be one of a long line of my victims and at King of the Ring, you will…….rest……..in………peace” Mr Hughes looks around but The Undertaker doesn’t appear but the match looks set for King of the Ring!
We go to the event centre with ‘Mean’ Gene Okerlund! Okerlund talks about Superstars this week where the King of the Ring tournament continues! We hear from Razor Ramon ahead of his KOTR qualifying match against Ted Dibiase on Superstars and we hear from ‘The Model’ Rick Martel ahead of his Wrestling Challenge KOTR qualifier against Owen Hart! Martel tells Owen that he’s gonna break his heart and ruin his dreams of becoming King of the Ring!
MATCH 2: Doink The Clown vs. Mark Ming Doink came out and squirts Rob Bartlett with water at ringside! Vince tells Doink to get in the ring and focus on his match. Doink makes short work of Ming, showing his technical ability. Doink finishes Ming off with the Stunt Puller submission.
We go to Vince McMahon at ringside and he tells us that on next week’s Raw we will see the debut of The Smoking Gunns!! He also tells us that the final King of the Ring qualifying match will take place as Rick Steiner will take on Tatanka! Heenan states that cowboys don’t belong in the World Wrestling Federation and it’s stupid that they’re here!
MATCH 3: ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage vs Damien Demento Savage returns to a huge pop from the NYC crowd. Savage and Demento have a fairly back and forth match after Demento catches Savage running at him but hangs him across the top rope with a stun gun! Demento works over Savage but Savage gets back into the match thanks to help from the fans. Savage hits an axe handle to Demento knocking him to the mat! Demento tries to come back at Savage but receives a body slam. Savage heads to the top rope and goes to hit his Flying Elbow Drop, but suddenly we see Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler come out near the entrance!
Lawler trash talks Savage and says despite the fact he’s not supposed to be at Raw, he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to scout his opponent at the King of The Ring despite Savage being a loser and washed up! Savage climbs down from the top rope and attacks Lawler in the aisle way! Savage jumps on Lawler and clobbers him with right hands! Meanwhile the referee counts to 10, and Savage gets counted out! Savage is furious with the referee and shoves the referee to the mat before hitting Demento with the Flying Elbow! Referee’s and other officials pile out to stop Savage getting to Lawler as order is being restored on Monday Night Raw! Lawler backs away and laughs at Savage calling him a loser and an idiot and that he always will be just another has-been!
Up next we hear pre recorded comments from the Intercontinental Champion Shawn Michaels and his former tag team partner and challenger tonight Marty Jannetty. Michaels thinks this is a witch hunt and he doesn’t understand why he needs to defend the title tonight but nevertheless he knows he is the better man and will come out on top like he always does. He says he has always had Marty holding him back but not now and has proven that point by all he has achieved since dropping the dead weight. Jannetty states that this is the biggest match of his career so far and The Rockers are history so he’ll having no issues in giving Shawn Michaels what he deserves tonight and will take away that Intercontinental Title.
MATCH 4: Shawn Michaels (c) vs. Marty Jannetty (WWF Intercontinental Championship) A really good way to end Raw in what some would consider a classic match! Plenty of back and forth action between the two superstars who know each other inside out in the ring. Jannetty goes for a Rocker Dropper but Michaels flips him over and lands a huge clothesline. Michaels takes control and hits Jannetty with a super kick which only just gets him a two count! Michaels goes for his Teardrop Suplex but Jannetty reverses it into a roll up from behind but only gets a two then nails Michaels with a dropkick coming back. Both men are down and we see Mr Perfect come out! The fans go nuts as Michaels questions Perfect’s presence outside the ring!
Perfect gets on the ring apron after Shawn taunts him and Jannetty charges at Shawn from behind but Michaels sees it coming and Jannetty collides with Perfect knocking him off the ring apron! Jannetty is dazed and Michaels hits the Teardrop Suplex! 1……2…..3! Michaels retains!
Perfect holds his head and looks pissed off as Michaels holds his title up high and heads to the back as Raw goes off the air!

I would love to see Marty Jannetty in the finals of the King of the Ring tournament, but I think it'll be Razor Ramon taking it all, with Luger being my second favorite.
Hart, Michaels, Savage, and Undertaker are my other picks for the PPV.
Keeping a close eye on this!
