Interesting. 2001 is before the time where I started really avidly following NJPW, but I'm interested to see where this goes. I wish NJPW had been more easily accessible back here, because I really like old man Nagata and would have loved to be able to watch him while he was in his prime.

Antonio Inoki?! I suppose since he's no longer the owner of New Japan he's fallen back on a career in being a manager with a bit of journalism on the side, what can't this man do? "I have a question for you Nomura, why didn't you announce the main event for New Century Dash to be Kazuyuki Fujita vs Yuji Nagata for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship?" Nomura is surprised to see Inoki here but he answers confidently, "Fujita will get his match next tour but for this tour I would like to focus on the crowning of new junior tag team champions." Inoki frowns at this answer, "I love the juniors as much as anyone but how can't you see that giving Fujita his match against Nagata so he can take his rightful place as the ace of NJPW as quickly as possible is the best business decision you can make. I sold this company to you not only because the price was right but also because I thought you were much smarter than this. All you're really doing is delaying the inevitable, I'm starting to think you're going to run this company that I built with my bare hands for the last 29 years into the ground kid." That comment angered Nomura and you could tell in the tone of his response, "I promise you Fujita will get his chance after this tour, I'm fine with you making sure your disciple gets a fair chance, what I'm NOT fine with is your insults towards me as I promise you I am dedicated to this company and I am going to put every last bit of my blood, sweat, and tears into continuing to build on what you've built these last 29 years. I plan on expanding New Japan far to the point where it's as large as Disney World and what you've built will look like a playground in comparison." Inoki smiles and claps for a bit while Nomura stares angrily. "Relax kid, you've got a lot of fighting spirit I'll give you that, I meant no disrespect I promise, I just wanted to see what you were made of and you passed in my eyes, we've got no problem with waiting for a little while longer." Inoki walks out and Nomura watches him leave before bowing and thanking the reporters for their time and leaving.
