- The free agent and longshot prospect Dirk Graham is turning into a solid quality right winger.
- 1982 1st Round Draft Pick Ken Daneyko is developing into a quality defenceman.
- Young defenceman Joe Cirella is beginning to turn into a solid depth player.
- Glenn Resch (G), Joel Quenneville (D), Brent Ashton (LW), Don Lever (LW), Steve Tambellini (C) and Dwight Foster (RW) are solid core to rebuild around.
Minus - Quantity for quality trades. Before relocating from Colorado to New Jersey, the franchise did trade away right winger Lanny McDonald to the Calgary Flames. Like you can see in the Top 10 lists above, Lanny is a Top 10 goalscorer in the league and scored 51 goals. Having such a elite player would have been a great asset.
