Dutch football legend Ruud Gullit is appointed the head coach of the Netherlands national football team in august 2001. Holland will use a 4-3-3 tactic similar to that one used by Ajax (Wim Kieft) and FC Barcelona (Marco van Basten).

Yeah, Netherlands better really stick to friendlies in 2002... ah! And make sure to do the same in 2018 Edit: how did THAT squad miss out on a Korea/Japan trip?

Edit: how did THAT squad miss out on a Korea/Japan trip? We will not make that mistake.
It's time to bring some glory and fame to Holland.

The Dutch total football totally destroys Germany. Holland takes a 3-0 victory against the rivals after goals from Barcelona stars Patrick Kluivert and Phillip Cocu; and Ajax's 18 year old wonderkid Rafael van der Vaart. The match also saw the international debut for Heerenveen's centre back Tieme Klompe.
Holland - Germany 3-0 1-0 Patrick Kluivert (penalty) 2-0 Phillip Cocu 3-0 Rafael van der Vaart

I honestly don't seem to know Tieme Klompe. 3-0 is a great win, even though I think your squad is better than Germany.

Tieme Klompe is a super defender in CM01/02. A potential he didn't reach in real life. He gets real expensive, real quickly so I never entered the bidding for him. I'm surprised that he ended up in Galatasaray instead of Germany, England or Italy.

Yeah, those stats are actually crazy. I'm curious: in game, in which season are you? (as Klompe is already in Galatasaray in the screenshot, but he was in Heerenveen in his debut vs. Germany)

Price was a bit too high for Ajax (and the defence have several top prospects. Better to save the money for Willem II Tilburg's Denny Landzaat. Could see him as a natural replacement for veterans Aron Winter and Richard Witschge.
