Post In Your House 7 - Davey Boy Smith is named number one contender after his pinfall win on Ahmed Johnson at the previous IYH - Diesel, Razor Ramon and 1-2-3 Kid are all gone from the WWF and Shawn Michaels continues the feud against the Hart Foundation by himself - Vader has injured Yokozuna at IYH 7 and now he challenges Ultimate Warrior to teach him a lesson too - Goldust interjects himself in the Undertaker/Mankind feud, siding with Mankind of course. Mankind misses a few weeks when Undertaker hits him in the head with a chairshot - Steve Austin is still raising hell with his promos - Marc Mero wins his first handful matches on RAW and challenges Triple H for the IC Title, but Owen Hart is tired of being ignored and wants a shot too - Bodydonnas vs. Smoking Gunns gets announced for IYH 8, on RAW May 6th there is a title change when The Godwinns beat The Bodydonnas. Sunny uses Phineas' love for her to manage the Godwinns as well and the title match on the PPV gets changed to Godwinns vs. Gunns now
WWF In Your House 8: Beware Of Dog 26.05.1996
Florence, SC
1. Steve Austin def. Savio Vega (13 mins) Their 'Mania match was nice enough to be redone here and they had decent chemistry after all. If Austin is an outlaw, Vega is not afraid of getting his hands dirty and this would give us a snug and interesting opener. Austin wins with the stunner and continues his push
2. WWF Tag Titles: The Smoking Gunns def. The Godwinns (c) (w/ Sunny and Hillbilly Jim) (8 mins) Let's face it, the tag team division was really bad at the time and Sunny's involvement was the only thing that gave some kind of heat to it. Like in reality, she uses The Godwinns to still have the gold with her and here she turns on them, helping the Smoking Gunns to win the titles
3. WWF IC Title: Marc Mero (w/ Sable) def. Triple H (c) and Owen Hart (w/ Jim Cornette) (12 mins) Ok, so... the Curtain Call happened. Not as big as a deal as the Kliq was an on screen stable in my WWF, but still. It makes sense to push Trips and get Razor to help him, but it also makes sense to get the belt off of him here for a bit. Mero wasn't one of my fav, but he's at the right place at the right time, with the right manager. Mero pins HHH and wins this as an upset
4. The Undertaker (w/ Paul Bearer) def. Goldust (w/ Marlena) (11 mins) As mentioned, Goldust has sided with Mankind and is almost fascinated by Undertaker's darkness, which scares him but also wants him to get involved with the Deadman. For Taker, Goldust is just a stepping stone to Mankind instead. Taker wins with the tombstone and challenges Mankind again
5. #1 Contender Match: The Ultimate Warrior def. Vader (w/ Jim Cornette) by countout (8 mins) Both wrestlers want a title shot and this is actually a fascinating match to me, as they are so different and it could either be a surprise or a disaster. Trying to avoid a disaster, this isn't too long and Vader dominates most of it, till Warrior's comeback and count out win to protect both of them here. It's a bad finish, I know, but it's needed
6. WWF World Title: Shawn Michaels (c) (w/ Jose Lothario) def. Davey Boy Smith (w/ Jim Cornette) (20 mins) No need for Diana Hart's gaga, Shawn is simply fighting the family still and he has never beaten Bulldog before, with Davey being a quite difficult opponent for him as bigger than both Bret and Owen Hart. I liked their KOTR match and that could give her a killer main event here, with HBK retaining once again and also thanks to Ultimate Warrior stopping Owen and Vader from interfering

Post In Your House 8 - The results of the previous PPV book Shawn Michaels vs. Ultimate Warrior as our title match for KOTR, which is a unique pairing and also comes when the two and Ahmed Johnson are fighting together against The Hart Foundation - The actual KOTR tournament takes place as usual and the final will be Ahmed Johnson vs. Vader, after they respectively defeat Davey Boy Smith and Jake Roberts in the semifinals - Jake Roberts' miracle run gets spoiled by Steve Austin, as Snake was criticizing Austin's profanity and this doesn't sit well with Stone Cold. Austin attacks Roberts on the go home show before the PPV - Mankind is back from his little injury and Undertaker wants him in a No DQ Match - Marc Mero continues his feud with Triple H, which is not only around the IC Title but also around Sable, as HHH states that she will end up with him - Sunny is now managing the Smoking Gunns, turned heel, which turns the Bodydonnas face in response
WWF King of the Ring 23.06.1996
Milwaukee, WI
1. Davey Boy Smith (w/ Jim Cornette) def. Marty Jannetty (w/ Leif Cassidy) (11 mins) Smith has to start back again after failing to win the WWF Title and here he faces Michaels' old friend Marty Jannetty. The Shining Starts have just turned heel actually, but I don't have many alternatives here and so this would hopefully work alright with Jannetty playing the babyface in the match. Davey wins clean
2. Savio Vega def. Bradshaw (w/ Uncle Zebekiah) (7 mins) Bradshaw has made his debut many months ago, but quite frankly didn't find space on any PPVs due to his limited abilities. His style was already quite stiff and snug, so he would have given Vega a few decent minutes here, even though their 1996 program wasn't that great. Vega wins with an inside cradle here
3. Steve Austin def. Jake Roberts (8 mins) I'm not booking Austin to win the 1996 KOTR because I don't want him to get a title shot at Summer Slam, but the 3:16 promo was a great moment and that can take place after his match with Snake here. Austin beats up the injured opponent and pins him without mercy, before cutting his revolutionary promo in the ring
4. No Disqualification Match: Mankind vs. The Undertaker ends with a double KO (w/ Paul Bearer) (15 mins) This feud is getting quite violent, especially for 1996 WWF standards. Mankind comes back after an injury and says he loved the pain, so he wants to use the chair back on Undertaker. Goldust interferes, but Taker gets ride of him, however Bearer hits Taker by mistake before the Deadman hits the tombstone and so they both collapse. The referee checks on them and stop the match
5. WWF Tag Titles: The Smoking Gunns (c) (w/ Sunny) def. The Bodydonnas (9 mins) As mentioned, Sunny is managing the Gunns and will do anything to be with the champions. Bodydonnas are offended and want to get back to their old manager, this is also 6 months in the making as it was the Donnas to injury Billy at the Rumble. Won't be a great match, but it can be decent, Sunny helps the Gunns retaining the titles
6. WWF IC Title: Marc Mero (c) (w/ Sable) def. Owen Hart (w/ Jim Cornette) (14 mins) Owen is still trying to win single gold in the WWF, as he never managed to do so, and gets mad because the newcomer Mero is already the IC champion. This feud doesn't get personal, but Mero needed a good and convincing match to establishing himself and who better than Owen Hart. It's a really open and uncertain match, but Mero manages to retain
7. King of the Ring Final: Vader (w/ Jim Cornette) def. Ahmed Johnson (11 mins) Vader was really hot when he started with the WWF and Ahmed was also really over at this point. They would both fade away in reality after summer of 1996, but here it only makes sense for one of them to get a good push. After beating Owen and Davey, Ahmed only has Vader to go through but Vader proves to be a monster and wins the KOTR with some help from Cornette
8. WWF World Title: Shawn Michaels (c) (w/ Jose Lothario) def. The Ultimate Warrior (15 mins) So, this is a fascinating match to me and it was probably going to be a disaster. But let's face it, Warrior was still super over and most fans were at 'Mania 12 mainly to see his return. He had a 3 months winning streak, but now he's leaving and what better way than to put my champion over on PPV. I'm not expecting this to be a great match, but it just needs to happen and it would at least generate interest, like the many bad WCW PPV main events from 1996 if you will. Warrior can also be protected with the finish and made to look really strong, but at the end HBK pins him with a sweet chin music and retains

Post King of the Ring - With Shawn Michaels vs. Vader already booked for Summer Slam, the Hart Foundation tries to isolate Shawn Michaels by attacking Ultimate Warrior and so he gets written out of TV - However, Shawn Michaels finds a new ally in the returning Sycho Sid, who sides with HBK and Ahmed Johnson against the heels - Steve Austin gets fined for his KOTR promo, but he keeps being over the top at all times and mocks Jake Roberts for his injury - Mankind and Goldust are still teaming against Undertaker and Goldust tries to lock the Deadman into a golden casket on RAW - Triple H goes back to flirting with Sable and gets under Marc Mero's skin - Phineas Godwinn is finally tired of Sunny and slops her with their bucket, making the Godwinns a more serious threat for the Smoking Gunns now
WWF In Your House 9: International Incident 21.07.1996
Vancouver, British Columbia
1. Savio Vega def. Tracy Smothers (9 mins) Smothers has just debuted and it is quite pointless to give him a stupid name like Freddie Joe Floyd when he can just bee old good Smothers and be a solid hand in the lowcard. Vega is on a good winning streak and has a competitive face vs. face match here, picking up the win once again
2. Steve Austin def. Skip (w/ Zip) (sub. for Jake Roberts) (7 mins) Austin was supposed to wrestle Jake Roberts, who is still injured, and so he ends up fighting his substitute Skip. Austin just takes this time to keep mocking and humiliating Snake, but him and Candido would have a nice little match here without questions. Of course, Austin goes over with the stunner
3. Casket Match: The Undertaker (w/ Paul Bearer) def. Goldust (w/ Marlena and Mankind) (13 mins) Taker's goal is to shut Goldust down so he can only concentrate on Mankind without anyone else interfering. Mankind is there and helps him, but Taker is quite impressive in his performance and locks Goldust in the casket to win. This now leaves us with the main feud, while Goldust gets written out of TV for a while
4. WWF Tag Titles Street Fight: The Smoking Gunns (c) (w/ Sunny) def. The Godwinns (w/ Hillbilly Jim) (10 mins) As mentioned, Sunny's mind games are not working anymore. The stipulation would hopefully help, as these teams have never shined together. Sunny gets in the ring and Phineas doesn't hit her, he doesn't love her but he still wouldn't hit a woman, so the Gunns use this to pin him
5. WWF IC Title: Triple H def. Marc Mero (c) (w/ Sable) by countout (12 mins) HHH's is getting on Mero's nerves with his continuous remarks and flirting with Sable, on a RAW he also comes to the ring with a Sable lookalike and she kisses him. Mero is quite angry and so fights in a really distracted way, ending up losing by countout here. Mero hits his finisher on HHH in the post match anyway
6. Vader, Owen Hart & The British Bulldog (w/ Jim Cornette) def. Shawn Michaels, Ahmed Johnson & Sycho Sid (w/ Jose Lothario) (20 mins) This actually main evented the PPV and, while the babyface team was incredibly random, it was really enjoyable and well put together. They have all the time they need to go and deliver, I keep the same finish with Cornette helping Vader pinning HBK, in the very first time Michaels gets beaten since 'Mania XI, the perfect way to hype the Summer Slam main event

Post In Your House 9 - Shawn Michaels vs. Vader is set for Summer Slam and HBK has never been so much dominated by a title contender - On RAW July 22nd, Faarooq debuts as a heel and injures Ahmed Johnson, as he claims that Ahmed didn't do anything to help other black people integrate and only enjoyed his success - With Goldust out of action, Mankind is alone against Undertaker and the two have a huge brawl in Mankind's boiler room so Gorilla Monsoon makes their match a Boiler Room Brawl: the winner will be the one to come to the ring and get the urn - Sycho Sid is back being Shawn Michaels' buddy and Jim Cornette recruits Yokozuna back to give Sid a lesson - Jake Robets comes back from his injury and wants a street fight against Steve Austin - Triple H is given a last chance against Marc Mero - Owen Hart and Davey Boy Smith beat The Gunns in a non title match on RAW July 29th and so they gain a title shot
WWF Summmer Slam 18.08.1996
Cleveland, OH
1. Savio Vega def. Barry Windham (11 mins) Barry Windham is back and, while he's not the super worker of the late '80s anymore, he's still a good performance and his old name and style would be way better than The Stalker. Savio gets another nice win here, he's against a more experienced and bigger opponent but manages to beat him with an inside cradle
2. Faarooq (w/ Clarance Mason) def. Crush (7 mins) Faarooq and Mason debut with the NOD characters straight away, as Faarooq won't waste his time with that stupid helmet whatsoever. Crush is back to the WWF as well and sides with Ahmed after his injury, but Faarooq proves to be a force to be reckon with and beats Crush in just a few minutes
3. WWF IC Title: Triple H def. Marc Mero (c) (w/ Sable) (14 mins) This is a turning point in the feud, as HHH finally unveils his real goal: he only wants the belt and his interest for Sable was just a way to anger Mero. This is found out when HHH doesn't hesitate to push her from the apron, so Mero wants to check on her and gets screwed by the pedigree for the title change
4. Boiler Room Brawl: Mankind def. The Undertaker (w/ Paul Bearer) (18 mins) This was on the actual card and wasn't too bad, even though it quite dragged at points, especially as the live crowd didn't get to see a good portion of the match before their eyes. I'm taking a few minutes away and changing pretty much nothing else, they go to the ring for the final part and I'm keeping the same finish as Bearer hits a kneeling Taker in the head and gives the urn to Mankind in a shocking way
5. Sycho Sid def. Yokozuna (6 mins) Monster vs. monster. Yoko is not a heel or sided with Cornette again, he's just after the money that he has been promised. Sid got over really quick in 1996 and I'm taking advantage of it, as he comes in and manages to get a decent push by chokeslamming Yokozuna for an important victory here
6. Street Fight: Steve Austin def. Jake Roberts (9 mins) Roberts wants revenge against Austin and we see vignettes of Snake stopping being the wise and peaceful middle aged man, his dislike for Austin brings him back to being the dark psycho character of the 80s. I think the greatest spot ever would be Austin stunning the snake in the bag to allegedly hurt the animal, before stunning Roberts as well for the pin
7. WWF Tag Titles: Owen Hart & Davey Boy Smith (w/ Jim Cornette) def. The Smoking Gunns (c) (w/ Sunny) (13 mins) Heel vs. heel. Sunny knows that her boys are in trouble and tries to create some dissension between Owen and Davey, but she ultimately fails. It's an open match, where the foreigners work as the babyfaces and they also get the belts when Owen submits Billy to the sharpshooter
8. WWF World Title: Shawn Michaels (c) (w/ Jose Lothario) def. Vader (w/ Jim Cornette) (20 mins) I know this is one of the most controversial results ever, but I do have a plan and I dig it, so trust me on this one. Michaels fights as a complete underdog and Vader dominates him just like he has been dominating the whole roster for the last 6 months. Vader has the match won, but he wants to humiliate HBK with the Vader Bomb and misses it, falling into a roll up for a miracle 3 count

Post Summer Slam - Mankind is named #1 contender after winning the Boiler Room Brawl. His new manager Paul Bearer says that he turned on Undertaker because the old Deadman is now gone and he is vulnerable, Mankind will defeat him soon and bury him - As of this, Undertaker disappears from TV for a bit - With Shawn Michaels busy with Mankind, Vader is taking care of Psycho Sid after Sid went over Yokozuna - Steve Austin is cutting promos on the returning Bret Hart - Faarooq is declaring war on the WWF for their constantly mobbing black athletes - After a few controversial finishes, Triple H and Marc Mero will have a 2/3 falls to settle the score
WWF In Your House 10: Mind Games 22.09.1996
Philadelphia, PA
1. WWF Tag Titles: Owen Hart & Davey Boy Smith (c) (w/ Jim Cornette) def. The Bodydonnas (11 mins) After working babyface against the Smoking Gunns, the new champions go back to being regular heels here against the Bodydonnas, in which will be the challenger's last title shot as Skip is leaving soon. Solid opener on the card hopefully, Davey pins Skip to retain the belts
2. Faarooq (w/ Clarance Mason) def. Savio Vega (8 mins) Like with Ahmed Johnson, Faarooq targets Vega for being a stereotype and not helping his peers excelling in the WWF. Vega has been on a roll lately here with a few wins on PPV, which is great so he can take a pin here and give all of his heat to Faarooq, who prevails once again
3. WWF IC Title 2/3 Falls: Triple H (c) def. Marc Mero (w/ Sable) (15 mins) This feud gets a bit more intense after HHH's attack on Sable. Gorilla Monsoon wants to see a clear winner here and so the stipulation helps. Mero pins HHH, but then gets DQd after HHH's mind games. HHH also gets a pedigree out of nowhere to win and retain the title
4. The Smoking Gunns (w/ Sunny) def. The Shining Stars (7 mins) Sunny demands that the Gunns get their belts back or she will go somewhere else, so her clients get really aggressive and more determined to win than ever. Jannetty and Snow are nice sparring partners, as they would give the Gunns and decent match here and do the job to make them look strong
5. Sycho Sid def. Vader (w/ Jim Cornette) (10 mins) Giant vs. giant that would have generated a lot of interest after their WCW match a few years prior had to be cancelled. They both want a title shot, but also end up disliking each other and work really snug. Vader once again, like Summer Slam, has the match won but wastes time and Sid comes back and chokeslams him for the pinfall
6. WWF World Title: Shawn Michaels (c) (w/ Jose Lothario) def. Mankind (w/ Paul Bearer) by dq (18 min) As mentioned, Vader could have been the champion here but I really wanted a HBK vs. Mankind program. The match actually happened on the PPV and it was amazing, so no reason to delete it or to even just change the finish, we can keep the DQ as it keeps the door open for another rematch which I do want to do as the first one went so well

Post In Your House 10 - After the DQ finish, Shawn Michaels vs. Mankind is rebooked for IYH 10 in a No DQ Match to settle the score - With Mankind busy in the main event, Undertaker returns to RAW and wants revenge, so Paul Bearer hires Terry Gordy to stop the Deadman - Steve Austin starts calling out Bret Hart every week and cutting promos on him - Vader and Sycho Sid continue their was, as they both want a title shot - Faarooq is building the NOD and he starts by recruiting Fatu - Sunny gives the Smoking Gunns a last chance to get the tag titles back WWF In Your House 11: Ground Zero 20.10.1996
Indianapolis, IN
1. WWF Tag Titles: Owen Hart & Davey Boy Smith (c) (w/ Jim Cornette) def. The Smoking Gunns (w/ Sunny) (12 mins) The Gunns have a lot of pressure, as Sunny has given them an ultimatum, but the champions have some tension as well as, with Bret being absent for so long, they are arguing quite a bit. Owen and Davey are the babyfaces here and suffer for long, before Davey's pinfall on Bart Gunn
2. Steve Austin def. Barry Windham (7 mins) Austin is getting over week by week and is ready to feud with Bret, I'm testing the ground by making him face a heel here, with Austin not changing his character even though the crowd is supporting him big time. Not a long match and hopefully a solid one, Austin hits the stunner and wins
3. #1 Contender Match: Vader (w/ Jim Cornette) draws Sycho Sid by double dq (9 mins) These two big men go at it again and a title shot is on the line as their win/lose records are two of the best in the WWF. It's a huge brawl, that takes place outside the ring even before the ring bells and sees the Sid going through the commentators table as well. They get DQd after a few minutes due to the big chaos
4. The Undertaker def. Terry Gordy (w/ Paul Bearer) (8 mins) Bearer has hired Gordy to stop Undertaker, in what is not really a dream match but really a good attraction if we think about early '90s Gordy's level. Gordy doesn't have a long run ahead of him, so this is just a stepping stone and Taker manages to beat him clean with the tombstone
5. WWF Title No Disqualification Match: Shawn Michaels (c) (w/ Jose Lothario) def. Mankind (w/ Paul Bearer) (24 mins) It's really a shame to end this feud after one match, given what they did at IYH 9, so a rematch without rules is really what needs to happen here. It's good to establish Mankind as a main event, but also to remark that Shawn is not just a pretty boy, as he can get tough and violent when needed. HBK wins with the sweet chin music

Post In Your House 11 - Big news from RAW October 21st, when Vader defeats Shawn Michaels thanks to the returning Bret Hart and wins the WWF Title. The reason this didn't happen at Summer Slam is the need of a HBK vs. Mankind feud first and secondly to do the switch on a high anticipated match on RAW, as Nitro is kicking my ass. It's the first time that the WWF Title changes hands on RAW - This gets more heat on the Shawn Michaels vs. Bret Hart feud. Bret has all the Foundation with him at Survivor Series, while HBK only has Sid as an ally. They recruit Jake Roberts and then, shockingly, Steve Austin, who is now more over than ever and doesn't like anyone on his team but only joins to kick Bret's ass - Undertaker continues his feud with Mankind and everyone else that Paul Bearer brings over - Ahmed Johnson is back from his injury to get revenge against Faarooq, but the NOD is getting stronger and now also consists of Savio Vega, 2 Cold Scorpio and Fatu - Goldust is also back and gets turned babyface when Triple H mock his funny ways, so Goldust reacts by attacking him - The Can-Am Connection, Doug Furnas and Phil Lafon, debut beating the Smoking Gunns on RAW October 28th and so Sunny leaves the Gunns, saying that she will be scouting for a new protégé - Young third generation wrestler Rocky Maivia will debut at the PPV as a babyface, you might have heard of him somewhere
WWF Survivor Series 17.11.1996
Manhattan, NY
1. Goldust, Marc Mero, Rocky Maivia & Crush (w/ Marlena and Sable) def. Triple H, Barry Windham, Tom Prichard & Tracy Smothers (21 mins) Mero and HHH are the captains. It is almost a passing of the torch, as their feud is done and the H/Goldust feud takes over. Also, Rocky debuts here and shows great potential by eliminating Prichard and Smothers. HHH is left by himself against Goldust, Mero and Maivia and Goldust pins HHH so all 3 of them survive
2. The Can-Am Connection & The Godwinns (w/ Hillbilly Jim) def. The Smoking Gunns & The Headbangers (15 mins) Furnas and Lafon get a good push straight away and inserted in competitive matches as soon as they arrive. Here they pretty much run the match and get most of the elimination. Furnas is left by himself against Bart Gunn and pins him to win the match
3. Faarooq, Savio Vega, Fatu & 2 Cold Scorpio (w/ Clarance Mason) def. Ahmed Johnson, Jesse James & The Shining Stars (20 mins) Ahmed is determined to get revenge on the NOD after his injury, while the stable is getting bigger month after month. The babyface team is not that united and they are not that much of a help for him here. Ahmed eliminates Fatu and Scorprio, but Faarooq uses a weapon to beat him and survive the match
4. The Undertaker, Yokozuna, Bob Holly & Jimmy Snuka def. Mankind, Terry Gordy, Brakkus & Bradshaw (w/ Paul Bearer) (19 mins) Taker and Mankind are getting really violent with their long feud and keep toping each other's actions. Mankind submits Yoko in his last WWF appearance, while Taker quickly chokeslams the gigantic Brakkus. Mankind uses a long mandible claw on Taker and gets DQd so Gordy can beat him, but Taker redcovers and tombstones Gordy for the victory
5. Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin, Psycho Sid & Jake Roberts (w/ Jose Lothario) def. Bret Hart, Davey Boy Smith, Vader & Owen Hart (w/ Jim Cornette) (33 mins) Bret's return has made his feuds with Michaels and Austin more bitter, while Vader is now champions and still feuding with Sid and Owen/Bulldog still have issues despite being the tag champions. Sid and Vader get eliminated with a double DQ. Owen gets pinned by Austin due an argument with Michaels and so he pushes Davey, feeding him to the sweet chin music. Bret is alone against Michaels and Austin, Austin steals the tag from HBK and pins Bret clean with the stunner for a shocking ending

Post Survivor Series - Sycho Sid gets named number one contender due to his win on Vader at IYH 10 - Shawn Michaels and Steve Austin keep being strange allies against The Hart Foundation. Bret has a chance to choose either Owen or Bulldog to be his partner at the PPV and he chooses Owen, getting Davey extremely upset - On RAW November 18th, Mankind attacks Undertaker with a shovel and then challenges him to a Buried Alive Match - Gorilla Monsoon finally books Ahmed Johnson vs. Faarooq - Goldust is named #1 contender for the IC Title after the Survivor Series result and his behaviour keeps disgusting Triple H - Rocky Maivia continues his streak on RAW
WWF In Your House 12: Buried Alive 15.12.1996
West Palm Beach, FL
1. WWF IC Title: Triple H (c) def. Goldust (w/ Marlena) (13 mins) Goldust knows that his being, now more fun as he's a babyface, embarrasses HHH and uses it to get an advantage during the match. HHH reacts by doing what he did with Mero and getting flirty with Marlena, with Goldust being extremely jealous. Goldust saves Marlena, but falls victim to a dirty roll up and loses
2. Ahmed Johnson def. Faarooq (w/ The Nation) by dq (5 mins) The match gets finally booked and it is a chaos as imagined, as both guys want to eliminate the other part and the brawl is extremely violent and furious. The referee calls for the bell just after a few minutes and then Ahmed uses a 2x4 to save himself against the rest of The Nation
3. Bret Hart & Owen Hart (w/ Davey Boy Smith and Jim Cornette) def. Shawn Michaels & Steve Austin (w/ Jose Lothario) (20 mins) Michaels and Austin have a lot of misunderstandings, but so do Owen and Bulldog at ringside, while Bret tries to make sure that his team is on the same page. They got all the time they need to create a masterpiece here, plus there is enough heat and so this should be great. Bret gets his pinfall back on Austin with the 'Mania 8 finish
4. WWF Title: Vader (c) (w/ Jim Cornette) def. Sycho Sid (10 mins) The rematch is here, but is for the WWF Title now. Sid has been the only one able to beat Vader so far in the WWF and so he wants another go at him, but Vader is not easy to defeated. The Hart Foundation gets ringside, but so does Shawn Michaels with a chair. In the ring, Vader hits the vader bomb and retains
5. Buried Alive Match: Mankind (w/ Paul Bearer) def. The Undertaker (16 mins) The WWF Title match is pretty much always the main event, but here I feel that this could do it instead, both for the feud being so long and for the fact that it's the first ever Buried Alive Match here. It's basically a brawl that every now and then moves to the stage where the grave is. Mankind applies the mandible claw, but Taker uses it to hit the chokeslam so they both fall in the grave. There, Mankind keeps the hold on and crawls away after hitting Taker in the head with the shovel, winning the match

Post In Your House 12 - Vader vs. Shawn Michaels get signed for the Royal Rumble, in their rubber match - Both Steve Austin and Bret Hart are mad for not being chosen as number one contender. Bret wants a shot after 'Mania 12, while Austin pinned Bret at Survivor Series. The heat between the two of them is getting bigger and they can be considered as two of the Rumble favourites - Sycho Sid is also having great momentum and willing to win to fight either his friend Shawn Michaels or his enemy Vader - Bret Hart has a lot of issues lately. Not only his feuds against Michaels and Austin, but he wants Vader's belt and he's upset at Owen Hart and Davey Boy Smith for always fighting. On RAW December 30th, Owen and Davey pay this big time by losing the tag belts to the Can-Am Connection after another misunderstanding - Davey Boy Smith gets himself in the Triple H/Goldust feud, saying he's a bigger man than them and he's tired of Owen Hart, so he wants some singles gold - After defeating Undertaker in the Buried Alive Match, Mankind is a big favourite as well. On RAW January 6th, Undertaker announces his return at the Rumble with a dark promo on the titantron - Lots of AAA guys get announced as Rumble participants, plus Terry Funk - Sunny announces that, after dominating the tag division, 1997 will bring her some singles gold
WWF Royal Rumble 19.01.1997
San Antonio, TX
1. 2 Cold Scorpio def. The Great Sasuke (11 mins) Sasuke is here as an extra and he would put on a hell of an opener against Scorpio, given that no one will limit the two during the match. Scorpio can still play the NOD heel without actually losing much of his athletic moveset. Sasuke puts on a good showing, but Scorpio beats him clean
2. WWF IC Title: Davey Boy Smith def. Goldust (w/ Marlena) and Triple H (c) (13 mins) Davey is not accompanied by Jim Cornette or any Hart Foundation member. HHH and Goldust have lots of tension between them and Goldust wants to prove to be a man, so his main aim is to beat Trips. Shockingly, Sunny comes to ringside and passes the IC Title to Davey, who hits Goldust with it and wins the IC Title
3. WWF Tag Titles: The Can-Am Connection (c) def. The Godwinns (w/ Hillbilly Jim) (9 mins) A face vs. face match, that comes after the two teams worked quite well together at the Survivor Series. It's basically technique versus strenght and the farmers try to win this with their power, with good selling from the champions, but then Furnas rolls Henry up to retain the belts
4. Royal Rumble Match: Steve Austin wins by last eliminating Bret Hart (54 mins) Participants: Austin, Bret, Taker, Funk, Roberts, Maivia, Johnson, Holly, Crush, Mero, Owen, D-Lo, Vega, James, Faarooq, Sid, Mankind, Thrasher, Mosh, Fatu, Abismo, Metal, Garza, Octagon, Guerrera, Aguayo, Demon, Canek, Estrada and Mascaras. Austin dominates most of the match and has a lot eliminations, notably Funk after showing him the double fingers. Maivia also lasts a lot, but Bret and Owen eliminate him after 25 minutes. Faarooq and his NOD are a strong force, until Ahmed comes with a 2x4 and eliminates everyone in the NOD, but then Faarooq throws him out. Sid is eliminated by Taker after a long fight. Austin eliminates Owen towards the end. Final four: #8 Austin, #15 Bret, #21 Mankind, #30 Taker. Taker eliminates Mankind. Bret and Austin fight for long on the apron and Bret eliminates Austin in a dirty way. It's Bret vs. Taker, but the referees don't see Austin being eliminated, so he comes back and throws both Bret and Taker out to win the most controversial Rumble ever 5. WWF Title: Shawn Michaels (w/ Jose Lothario) def. Vader (c) (w/ Jim Cornette) (15 mins) It's San Antonio and the crowd goes crazy for HBK, it's absolutely going to be better of a match and a spectacle here as he's facing Vader instead of Sid. Vader beats Michaels up and throws him everywhere, with HBK slowly coming back and risking everything. HBK is the perfect babyface here tonight and he wins the title back with the sweet chin music

Post Royal Rumble - Shawn Michaels vacates the WWF Title due to injury. I would not let him drop the "I lost my smile" line, but still keep a lot of speculations and have his mortal rival Bret Hart accusing him of faking the injury - At the same time, there is also controversy around the Royal Rumble winner as Steve Austin won after being eliminated. Gorilla Monsoon kills two birds with one stone making a four way match for IYH: the winner Austin vs. the two illegally eliminated Bret and Taker vs. the former champion Vader. The WWF Title is on the line - At the same time, there is a 8 men tournament to decide who will be the number one contender for 'Mania. In the semi-finals, Owen Hart beats Ahmed Johnson and Mankind beats Davey Boy Smith after the usual Davey/Owen misunderstanding - Speaking of Davey Boy Smith, Jim Cornette is mad because Sunny is now his exclusive manager. This creates dissension in the Hart Foundation, as now Sunny is some kind of stable member - After being allied against Triple H, Goldust and Marc Mero have some a few altercations and Mero seems to be more heelish - The NOD targets Rocky Maivia and blames him for his rich background and lineage - At the same time, Ahmed Johnson and Faarooq continue their war
WWF In Your House 13: Final Four 16.02.1997
Chattanooga, TN
1. Rocky Maivia def. Savio Vega (w/ NOD) (12 mins) So, Rocky is fighting the NOD here and trying to prove that he's better than them. Vega is a good stepping stone, as he's a good hand, solid midcarder that can take wins and losses with no problem. Crowd would still not really care for him, but probably treat him a bit better, here Rocky wins clean
2. Ahmed Johnson def. 2 Cold Scorpio (sub. for Faarooq) (w/ NOD) (7 mins) This was supposed to be Ahmed vs. Faarooq and then gets changed when Faarooq lets his sidekick wrestle Ahmed instead. Scorprio has a good showing and comes from a few good victories, but Ahmed is just too much for him and beats him clean in just a few minutes, continuing the feud
3. #1 Contender: Mankind (w/ Paul Bearer) def. Owen Hart (w/ Jim Cornette) (14 mins) Final of the mini tournament that gives a 'Mania title shot to the winner, as the Rumble has been voided. It's heel vs. heel, but with the new attitude coming along it doesn't really matter anymore. Davey Boy Smith and Sunny are at commentary and Davey and Owen keep arguing, which plays in Mankind's favour and gets Mankind to lock the mandible claw on the IC champion to win the match and the title shot
4. Goldust (w/ Marlena) def. Marc Mero (w/ Sable) (11 mins) Triple H is on commentary here and likes to put Goldust and Mero one against another, even though Mero seems super frustrated and even Sable can't recognise him. Mero plays the heel here and this makes the fan get behind Goldust's comeback, then Goldust wins with the pedigree while staring right at HHH
5. WWF World Title Final Four Match: The Undertaker def. Bret Hart, Steve Austin and Vader (w/ Jim Cornette) (decision match) (25 mins) This actually happened on the show and was outstanding to say the least. They all have heat against each other and even Bret and Vader fight themselves, much for Cornette's despair. Sid interferes and throws Vader over the top to continue their feud. Bret and Austin have a long fight in and outside the ring, so Undertaker uses this to eliminate both of them at the same time and become the new WWF champion
