Was gonna put this on GDS as well but they wont let me register so hey ho. Be The Booker here we go.
The Year is 1995. The Wrestling industry is at its worst in America. In the WWF, Vince McMahon has relied for far too long on the presentation that brought him great success in the eighties and taking it to the level of the ridiculous. For every interesting and successful idea like The Undertaker. There's a Duke "The Dumpster" Droese. Without the white hot following that Hulk Hogan brought him. It's becoming ever more clear that he is not the genius wrestling journalists proclaimed him to be and that he might in fact be losing touch. Meanwhile, in WCW, it has been a tumultuous time, where responsibilities were being passed around constantly. Kip Frey, Jim Herd, Bill Watts. Turner Broadcasting has a sour taste in their mouth for anybody associated with wrestling heading their acquisition, then came in Eric Bischoff and in the past year he's been trying to right the ship, but there's been a big mess to clean up and the stench of the early 90's still lingers. The Dungeon of Doom is the biggest thing going on the show right now and it's getting panned by passionate wrestling fans. Things are going to change however, for both companies. A wrestling war has been brewing for the past year. Ever since Hulk Hogan got picked up. Ted Turner infamously called Eric Bischoff into his office and asked him what he needed to compete with Vince. Eric said he needed Monday Nights, Ted gave it to him, and the Monday Night Wars began. This diary will start from the beginning of the Monday Night Wars, from the first Nitro onwards seeing if we can do things differently for both companies. Will the Attitude Era still happen, will it go the same way? Will the n.W.o form? It's a totally new war and someone has to win it.
This diary is going to present to you The Monday Night Wars from the very beginning. Monday Night Raw VS Monday Nitro. Taking the helm of both companies, presenting the results and ratings for both flag ship shows and their pay per views. It is mainly going to focus on the Nitro, Raw and PPV booking as presenting A Shows, B Shows AND PPVs for two companies is just too big of an undertaking. Results and ratings for both shows will be presented and you, the reader can also vote on which show YOU think won, regardless what the ratings say. Basically...which show would you have tuned in to?
