WCWW World Six Men Tag Team Champions: The Fabulous Freebirds
WCCW Texas Heavyweight Champion: Ted DiBiase
May 19th - 25th 1984
- It's been a quiet week and I definitely needed one this time around. Nobody else has declared war on me, at least not for now!
- As mentioned before, Barry Windham was offered a 2 years written contract after his great in ring performance. Windham seemed flattered and happily signed the deal. CWF tried to keep him with a good offer, but ultimately they were unable to keep him. He is really over in Florida, now all I need to do is getting him over on this coast as well
- I also signed Brad Armstrong to a written contract for a year. Armstrong in in CState and a few companies offered him a PPA deal, so I decided to lock him for the foreseeable future. Despite being really young, he's doing quite well for himself
- I am keeping an eye on Tommy Rich, as his upcoming performances and actions will determine his future. Rich is loyal to MACW and won't sign a contract with me, now I am also at war with that company where he is a top guy and that just irks me to be honest. It might be childish, but still. Also, Rich was making $600 per show and asked for a $1200 deal, which I refused. His performances are average, he complained about losing a couple of times and he's just not over or good as he thinks he is. Plus, he only makes $700 per show at MACW and I won't pay him more than they do
- Jim Ross is hitting the gym: he went from a flabby physique to an average one. Baw gawd!
- News from the wrestling world: WWF started a feud between Hulk Hogan and Bob Backlund, who just turned heel; MACW put on a big show with a very good Harley Race vs Andre the Giant main event (89 rating), but they only sold 12000 tickets; El Dandy left EMLL as he was upset with the way he was booked

Attendance: 20756
TV rating: 0.95
Show quality: 82
Michael Hayes def. Kevin von Erich by DQ in 9:31 when Kevin pushes the referee away to attack his opponent outside the ring, to get revenge on last week's attack. The announces point out that even Kevin, usually the calmer brother, has had enough! (82)
Postmatch The Freebirds go away through the crowd, while Kerry von Erich reaches Kevin and Bill Mercer interviews them in the ring, informing them that Buddy Roberts is not here tonight. Kerry says that he was in the Sportatorium last week, though, and he let the Birds beat them down 3v2 for a lot of time before saving them and that is unacceptable. Kevin adds that, as Roberts pointed out, they are not friends and will never be friends but, if the common goal is to destroy the Birds, he better step up and show some attributes, because the von Erichs will wrestle 4v2 if necessary! (85)
Chris Adams def. Tom Prichard in 5:34 with the superkick. Mr. X watches the match and Adams seems annoyed with X trying to befriend him (55)
Gary Hart and Jim Ross, at ringside, recap the card for Parade of Champions and Hart also adds a Battle Royal to the show as he enjoyed the unpredictability of the last one, as Buddy Roberts won and he was not the favourite: 20 wrestlers will be involved and the winner will get a World Title shot. It's Parade of Champions, but somebody might just be on his way to become a star! Stan Hansen approaches the announcers and says that winning the Battle Royal will bring people a first class ticket to his lariat, because he's winning the World Title on Sunday! (75)
Tito Santana (w/ Brian Adias and Sunshine) def. Bill Irwin (w/ Magnum TA and Sherri) with a crossbody, even though Magnum tried to push him off the turnbuckle in vain (70)
On stage Bill Mercer is supposed to interview The Fantastics, but The Rock & Roll Express arrive instead and say that Bobby Fulton has been attacked and injured in the parking lot, so they are on their way to the hospital to check his arm. R&R have no doubt that the Horsemen are behind this and threaten MNX and say that they are leaving to check on Fulton (68)
Stan Hansen, Bruiser Brody & The Funks def. The Four Horsemen (w/ Bobby Heenan) by DQ at 13:08 when Devastation Inc. interfere, stopping Hansen from hitting Ric Flair with a lariat (84)
Postmatch the Horsemen and Devastation Inc. beat down the babyfaces thanks to the numbers game, JR says that this is probably why The Fantastics were jumped in the parking lot. Bundy and Murdoch repeatedly hit big splashes on Hansen, while Ric Flair applauds. Terry Funk grabs a chair and start swinging it at the babyfaces to stop them... but we got to go folks! (84)
Show notes
- The main event delivered big time and I can't wait to explore more combinations, the crowd was into it and pulling for the Texas babyfaces. The Horsemen don't really focus too much on being "in a foreign state" (as East Coast Rednecks) do that already, but the assumption is quite obvious. Flair and Hansen, again, shined big time in the segments and I can't wait for their title match
- Buddy Roberts, as mentioned in previous posts, was given some time off and will of course be back on the supershow. I think that sometimes having a few bits left unsaid is good, hopefully the lack of him explaining what happened last week will create more interest for his promo and match on Sunday (likewise, Devastation Inc. have refused to reveal why they are helping the Horsemen yet)
- I am carefully reviewing all the von Erichs vs. Freebirds combinations I have used so far in singles, tags and trios matches. It's true that Garvin was added to the equation just a few months ago, so it's a bit fresher, but it amazes me how the crowd is still so much into this feud and loves all the pairings
- Prichard regularly works for CState and is a local talent, as explained already I will give some space to enhancement/developmental workers more often because they are quite cheap, I don't want my guys to go under too much and... I can't borrow NWA loans anymore
- I left Terry Taylor off the main show because him and Magnum TA don't click at all together, despite both having great chemistry with Sherri. Taylor worked a dark match instead
- I had another match in mind before the battle royal was announced, but then I changed my mind. That match would have been an undercard attraction on that card, so I might as well use everybody else on the card. I am not announcing the competitors, as there will be a few surprised (maybe from CState, maybe externals?)
