Stone Cold Steve Austin (C) vs Kane
(Following Austin becoming a 5-time WWF Champion at No Way Out, Stone Cold moves on to his first defense as champion in his home state of Texas, the man who ended his first reign as WWF Champion all the way back at King of the Ring 1998, the 2001 Royal Rumble winner, The Big Red Machine, Kane. Austin says that he needs to prove he can still go as a champion after coming off almost a year out with a neck injury, and this is a chance at redemption for him, because Kane ended his first reign as WWF Champion back at King of the Ring 1998, this time, he once again walks into a high profile defense as WWF Champion against Kane, this time, in his home state of Texas, and unlike King of the Ring 1998, this time, he's gonna come out victorious. Kane says that he has been waiting for this moment his whole career, and if he has to set Austin's title reign a blaze to become a 3-time WWF Champion, then so be it. Both men promise to give the other the absolute best of each other. After an almost half hour of a bloody affair, The Texas Rattlesnake prevails after 4 Stunners. Also, AUSTIN DOESN'T TURN HEEL! Vince doesn't get involved in this match at all. Austin also debuts the undisputed title design the next design)
Note
(I know, the main event is not Rock Austin 2, which was an amazing main event, but Kane deserved that rumble win)

Invasion
Date: September 23rd, 2001
Location: Mellon Arena, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Note
(On the Raw after Summerslam, Vince comes out and refuses to let anyone from the NWO into the arena, and explains that his son Shane sold WCW and his share of WWF to Eric Bischoff. Vince then says that the main event will be a rematch from the main event of Summerslam the previous night, before turning around into a superkick from Lance Storm, who gets in an "if I can be serious for a minute". WCW run-ins happen for the rest of the night, Chris Jericho feels the bang from a Diamond Cutter from DDP, Harlem Heat (Stevie Ray is brought in in this timeline, he agrees to come in after an overpay) run in on a Dudleys match, Billy Kidman hits RVD with the European title. Then we get to the main event, and of course the NWO run in on Austin and Rock, but to stop it from being a repeat of the previous night, The Big Show runs down to even the odds to make it 3 on 3, Austin, Rock, and The Big Show vs Hogan, Hall, and Nash. Harlem Heat and DDP then run down to stack the odds against the WWF guys, but outcome Chris Jericho, Raven, and X-Pac, but those guys fight for the WWF, that's their home, they left WCW, with this being the closing angle as the show goes off the air.)

(On the Raw after InVasion, The NWO brings out The Giant (Big Show is once again rechristened The Giant the night after the Invasion PPV) to explain why he betrayed the WWF. The Giant says that the WWF constantly held him back, yeah sure he was WWF Champion back in 1999, but by the next month he had lost the title, not only that, they sent him to developmental last year, so why would he stay loyal to that same company when he can always jump ship back to where it all began for him, the place who treated him like a star from the beginning. The Rock begins going after The Giant over the next number of weeks for his betrayal, but he knows he can't go after the NWO alone, so he gets Kurt Angle and Rhyno to have his back against the NWO, saying that Flair is in for a world of hurt.)
WWF Championship
Stone Cold Steve Austin (C) vs Scott Hall w/NWO & Eric Bischoff (WCW)
(Following the NWO's victory at InVasion, Eric Bischoff tasks Scott Hall with bringing the WWF Championship over to WCW, which Vince McMahon is blackmailed into giving to Hall after the NWO threaten to assault him. Austin says he'll run right through this Tony Montana knockoff and leave him looking up at the lights, and that's the bottom line, cause Stone Cold said so. Hall says that Austin only managed to get to the top because he left in 96, but now that he's back, he'll be sent straight to the bottom when he becomes a 2-time WWF Champion. The NWO does try to interfere in the match, but The Rock & Kurt Angle help fight off the numbers, allowing Austin to hit a Stunner on Hall to retain the WWF Championship.)
