Nia says that Sasha is unfit to be a champion, and will make sure that she no longer has to carry that burden. KO says that Chris's comedy didn't make people take him seriously, so he had to put the fear of God into people so they think Goldberg doesn't stand a chance at Fastlane. Kev still does his pre-match stalling just like IRL, only just before he enters the ring for the final time, Brock Lesnar comes out from out of the crowd, and lays out Goldberg with a pair of F5's. Kevin then demands that the referee ring the bell, beginning the match, where KO hits one Pop-up Powerbomb to win in 12 seconds. In the leadup, Finn Balor returns from injury, saving Rollins from a beat down at the hands of Triple H and Joe. Finn says he forgives Seth for injuring him at Summerslam, as that was never his intention, but more importantly, he's back to go after Triple H, who failed to protect him once he got to the main roster. The Game makes the match unsanctioned so Rollins and Balor can take legal action if their injuries are aggravated in this match. Rollins and Balor say that if they go out, Triple H and Joe are going with them.)

Aries says that Neville can't proclaim to be a king when he hasn't beaten The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived. Neville says no one, not even Aries, is on the Neville level. This match is the same as their Mania 33 match from real life, with Pac exploiting an eye injury to win.)
Handicap Match
Big Cass vs The Good Brothers
(Originally supposed to be a tag team match between Enzo & Cass and The Good Brothers, Enzo is attacked by an unkown assailant before the match, forcing Big Cass to go it alone.)
Raw Women's Championship
Bayley (C) vs Alexa Bliss (By referee stoppage)
(Bliss is transferred over to Raw in the Superstar Shakeup, and makes an immediate impact, beating Sasha Banks, Mickie James, and Nia Jax in a Fatal 4-Way #1 contenders match. Alexa says that she made the jump over to Raw because she got bored dominating Smackdown Live's women's division, and wanted to cure Raw of the "vomiting inducing" champion that is Bayley, by taking the title in her hometown. Bayley says that she's dealt with people like Alexa her whole life, and that Alexa will once again be humbled, just like she was in NXT. The match is a bit barbaric, as Alexa works over the head for most of the match after ramming Bayley's head into an exposed turnbuckle. Alexa then gives Bayley a big boot into the ringpost, a DDT on the exposed concrete floor, all before she gets Bayley in the tree of woe position, peeling the ring mat back, grabs Bayley by her hands, and slams her head up and down on to the bare wooden planks. After the 10th time, the referee steps in and calls the match off, declaring Alexa the winner by technical knockout. Bayley has to be helped to the back because she can't walk on her own without falling over.)
House of Horrors Match
Randy Orton vs Bray Wyatt
(Same build and match as IRL, only Jinder Mahal does not interfere in this match. Instead, a returning Erick Rowan shows up and helps Wyatt win.)
Seth Rollins vs Samoa Joe
(Rollins goes after Triple H's former lapdog after Wrestlemania. Joe says that Rollins is obssesed with him after he tore his MCL. Rollins says he needs to get rid of every last connection to Triple H now that he's finished with him.)
Steel Cage Match
Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman
(Roman and Braun's brawls are getting more chaotic every week, with Braun flipping over an ambulance with Roman inside it, and Roman spearing Braun through a minitron. This leads new Raw GM Kurt Angle to making a steel cage match to end their feud. Roman wins after spearing Braun through a cage wall, and unlike GRR 2018 with his match against Lesnar, Roman gets out first.)
World Heavyweight Championship
Chris Jericho (C) vs Brock Lesnar w/Paul Heyman
(On the Raw after Wrestlemania, Brock Lesnar attacks new World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho, giving him 3 F5's. Paul Heyman says that now Brock has finally rid himself of Goldberg, it's time to focus back on World Championships, with Y2J becoming the next person to head to Suplex City. Jericho says that Brock isn't as tough as he thinks he is (highlighting his MMA losses to Cain Velasquez and Alister Overeem), and that he'll prove it at Payback. The match is a relatively back and forth affair, with Brock winning after countering a Codebreaker into an F5. Following the match, Lesnar gives Jericho 2 F5's, and an F5 into the ringpost, writing Jericho off of TV.)

(The Bruiserweight beats Trent Seven at a UK network special to get this match. Peter Doone (as Kyle O'Reilly calls him) says that he is the chosen one to become UK champ, and will fulfill that prophecy at Takeover: Chicago. Liv says she knows Asuka is a force of nature, but she's overcome too many obstacles to get this opportunity, because she's gonna be the one to put the dagger into Asuka's year-long title reign. Tommaso Ciampa enters the match with a knee injury, refusing to be pulled from the match, which results in him tearing his ACL in the match. After the match, DIY walk up the ramp, embrace, and then Ciampa says to Gargano "This is my moment. Tommaso Ciampa turns around, and throws Johnny Gargano into the minitron, turning heel, before brutally attacking him.)

Backlash 2017 (Smackdown Live)
Date: May 21st, 2017
Location: United Center, Chicago, Illinois
Card
Dolph Ziggler vs Shinsuke Nakamura w/Paul Heyman
(On the Smackdown after Wrestlemania, vignettes for Shinsuke Nakamura's debut begin airing. Dolph Ziggler starts to demand a step up in completion after just beating Sin Cara and Mojo Rawley every week. Shane McMahon decides to give it to him at Backlash, in the form of Smackdown's newest star. Nakamura does not appear at all in the leadup to the match, forcing Ziggler to build the match all by himself with promos as well as vignettes for Shinsuke. Before Naka makes his entrance, Paul Heyman comes out, and introduces his newest client, The Artist, Shinsuke Nakamura (the reason why Naka is a Heyman guy is so he can cut promos in Japanese, and have Heyman do all the English stuff for him, also, it creates an interesting dynamic with Heyman, as he manages a heel on Raw, but also manages a face on Smackdown). Instead of having the 2 generic guys WWE match, Ziggler works a New Japan match. Ziggler does his typical elite selling, making Nakamura look like a star when he wins with the Kinshasa.)
Triple Threat Match for the Smackdown Tag Team Championships
The Usos (C) vs American Alpha vs Breezango
(American Alpha invoke their rematch clause, saying that they're destined to become multi-time tag champs, while The Usos say they will remain locked up in the Uso Penitentiary. Breezango beats both teams on Smackdown Live in the leadup, leading to them getting added to this match.)
Aiden English vs Tye Dillinger
(The perfect 10 makes his debut, and begins feuding with Aiden English right out the gate.)
Smackdown Women's Championship
Naomi (C) vs Charlotte Flair
(After being moved to Smackdown Live in the superstar shakeup, Charlotte wins a Fatal 5-Way #1 contenders match over Natalya, Becky Lynch, Carmella, and Tamina to become #1 contender to Naomi's Smackdown Women's Championship. Naomi says she knows Charlotte is a former champion, and she'll be a stepping stone at the beginning of a legendary reign. Charlotte says she wants gold around her waist once again.)
Triple Threat Match for the WWE United States Championship
Sami Zayn (C) vs Baron Corbin vs Rusev
(Sami is transferred over to Smackdown Live in the superstar shakeup, Multiple superstars begin eyeing his US title, 2 superstars in particular, Baron Corbin, and Rusev. Corbin says Sami always stole the spotlight from him in NXT, but now that they're both on Smackdown Live, he won't be able to steal his thunder because the sky is the limit for him. Rusev says that everything went downhill for him on Raw after he lost the US title, but now that he's on a new brand, it's a fresh start for him, and he can't think of a better way to kick that off than becoming a 3-time United States Champion. Sami says that he welcomes the challenge of both men, he wants to prove he's a fighting champion. The closing moments of the match see's Sami hit a Helluva Kick on Rusev, goes for the cover, only for Aiden English to run down and pull the ref out of the ring. Sami then takes out Aiden with an outside dive, only to eat a Macha Kick from Rusev when he gets back in the ring. Rusev then goes for the cover, gets the 3-count, and becomes a 3-time US Champ.)
AJ Styles vs Kevin Owens
(The former World Heavyweight Champion is moved over to the blue brand during the Superstar Shakeup. On his first night on Smackdown, Kevin Owens says that this is the new Kevin Owens Show, and if anybody objects to that, they can get in the ring with him and see what happens, because as he has proven for the past 3 years, he can beat the hell out of anybody in that locker room, and now that he's on Smackdown, that's exactly what he's gonna do, because he's not here for any of the fans, he's not here for anybody in the back, and he's not here for anybody watching at home, because he is here for himself, and he is here to be the new face of Smackdown. AJ Styles (who turned face on the Smackdown after Wrestlemania 33 after a moment of respect with Shane McMahon) interrupts KO's promo, saying that this is not the Kevin Owens Show, this is Smackdown, the house that AJ Styles built, and he's still here dammit, and he for damn sure isn't gonna let some punk like Kevin Owens tear down his house. The 2 begin feuding, costing each other in matches over the next couple of weeks until a match is made for Backlash between the 2.)
WWE Championship
Randy Orton (C) vs Luke Harper
(Luke Harper wins a #1 contenders Fatal 4-Way Match over AJ Styles, Kevin Owens, and Dolph Ziggler to earn himself another shot at the WWE Championship after coming up short against Randy Orton at both Elimination Chamber and Wrestlemania 33. In the leadup to Randy Orton's match against Bray Wyatt at Payback, he's asked a question about his match against Luke Harper, and sarcastically says he's training hard for Luke Harper (Orton is still a heel). On the go-home episode of Smackdown, there's a contract signing between the 2 men, where Harper says he wants to make all his fans proud and rewrite the wrong he experienced back at Wrestlemania 33, saying he's been studying all of Randy's moves for the past month, and he thinks he's ready. Harper does all this, all while Randy Orton, who isn't taking Harper seriously after defeating him at Wrestlemania 33, is just sitting there playing on a 3DS, not even listening to a word Harper is saying, before Daniel Bryan reminds Randy he has to sign the contract. Randy signs the contract, Harper offers a handshake, and Randy just grabs his title and leaves the ring, before turning around, heading back into the ring, shaking Harperr's hand, and pulling him into an RKO through the table. The match at Backlash is even because Harper has done his homework and Randy is just being a d*ck by not taking The future Exalted One seriously, with Harper having counters for all of Randy's signature offense, continously slipping out of the RKO. The longer the match goes, the more frustrated Orton gets, until he finally hits Harper with an RKO, and then immediately gets on to the second rope and does his signature taunt, with Randy then going for an arrogant pin on Harper, sitting on the canvas, and leaning back over him. The referee counts 1-2, then Harper counters the pin into a crucifix, 1-2, Orton kicks out. Orton then attempts an RKO, only for Harper to push Randy back, and catches The Apex Predator with a Discus Lariat. Harper then sets Orton up for 1 more Discus Lariat, hits it, covers Orton, gets the pin, and becomes the new WWE Champion.)
