Judgment Day (C) vs The Street Profits

(The Street Profits defeat Alpha Academy and The Good Brothers to secure another shot at Judgment Day’s Raw Tag Team Championships. The Profits say that they might’ve not gotten the job done at Wrestlemania, but they aren’t gonna go 0 for 2 in title fights against Judgment Day, those title are coming home with them at Backlash. Priest & Gacy say that if The Profits couldn’t get the job done at Wrestlemania, what makes them think they’re gonna get the job done in San Juan. Damian Priest’s homecoming proves to be a successful one, as he and Gacy retain their tag titles.)

8-Person Mixed Tag Team Match

La Faccion De Zelina vs The Latino World Order (Rey Mysterio, Santos Escobar, & Elektra Lopez) & Bad Bunny

(On the Raw after Wrestlemania, Rey Mysterio loses a match to Austin Theory thanks to interference by his estranged son Dominik, whilst Bad Bunny, who costed Dom at Mania, is sitting front row. Dom then gets up in Bad Bunny’s face, which leads to Benito slapping Dominik, only for Dom’s LFDZ stablemates Angel Garza & Humbert Carillo to run down, pull Bad Bunny over the front row, with the LFDZ boys beating down Benito 3-on-1, and putting him through the announce table. Raw & Smackdown GM Adam Pearce confronts Dom about this, saying that Dom provoked Bad Bunny, who was there as a guest, not as a competitor, with Dom saying is that the same energy Pearce has right now, is that the same energy he had when he got involved in his match against his Deadbeat Dad at Wrestlemania, is that the same energy he had when Bad Bunny put his hands on him, he got what he deserved. A few weeks later, Angel Garza has a match against Rey Mysterio on Raw, which ends in a DQ after interference by LFDZ, until Bad Bunny makes a shocking return with the rest of The LWO by his side, forcing Dominik, Zelina, Angel, & Humberto into retreat. This leads to Bad Bunny issuing a challenge for Backlash, The LWO & himself vs La Faccion De Zelina.. In a Mixed Tag Match! Dominik accepts on his teams behalf, saying that not only does he get another chance to end his deadbeat dad, but he gets to ended the career of the most overrated musician ever. Towards the ends of the match, after Garza & Carillo have been taken out on the outside, Dominik & Zelina try to flee and get counted out, only for Puerto Rico’s own Carlito and Savio Vega to show up, punk out Dominik, and force the 2 back into the ring, with Bad Bunny scoring the win for his team after a Bunny Destroyer on Ex-Con Dom. The next night on Raw, Dominik & Zelina turn on Garza & Carillo, ending Zelina’s association with Los Lotharios, and now solely managing Dominik.)

WWE United States Championship

Bronson Reed (C) vs Samoa Joe (By Technical Submission)

(Following his loss to LA Knight at Wrestlemania, Samoa Joe is confronted by US Champ Bronson Reed on the Raw after Mania, with Reed saying to Joe that he watched Joe’s match at Mania and Joe showed him something new, how to lose, because that’s all Joe has done ever since he’s come back from injury after injury. This causes a conflict between Joe and Reed which causes them to have to be separated, beginning a feud between the 2, eventually setting the stage for a US title match at Backlash. Joe says Bronson may think he’s unbeatable, but a stopped clock is right twice a day, and Reed won’t be leaving Puerto Rico as the United States Champion. Reed says that Joe has had a drought of not holding any singles titles in his 6 years on the main roster, and at Backlash, that drought is going to continue. The closing moments see’s Reed going for a Tsunami Splash, only for Joe to get his knee’s up and lock in the Coquina Clutch, with Reed passing out, allowing Joe to become the new United States Champion.)

Smackdown Women's Championship

Liv Morgan (C) vs Toni Storm

(After Liv Morgan’s successful title defense over Asuka at Wrestlemania, Liv moves on to her next challenger, Damage CTRL’s Toni Storm. Shortly after Mania 39, a Triple Threat #1 contender match between Blair Davenport, Candice Lerae, and Shotzi Blackheart is scheduled to take place, however, Toni Storm expresses her displeasure with Blair being in the match, saying that Blair is consistently getting opportunity after opportunity to try and defeat Liv Morgan, it should be one of them getting a shot at Liv. Blair hears Toni out and grants her the spot in the Triple Threat Match. Toni then goes on to defeat Candice and Shotzi to secure her title shot against Liv at Backlash. Liv says she still owed Toni for stabbing her in the back at Clash at The Castle, Toni is one of the top up and coming stars, she doesn’t need to be playing second fiddle to get to the next level, but if this is the road she’s gonna choose, she’s gonna be in for a rough night at Backlash. Toni says that she did what she had to put herself on the map, and at Backlash, she takes the knife she put in Liv’s back and cuts her throat with it. Toni comes close to dethroning Liv, but interference by Blair Davenport (who runs down to try to help Toni, which Dakota Kai & Io Shirai plead for Blair to not go through with) costs Toni the match.)

WWE Women's Tag Team Championships

The Unholy Union (C) vs Becky Lynch & Trish Stratus

(After their women’s tag title win at Wrestlemania, The Unholy Union of Kay Lee Ray & Isla Dawn begin feuding with Becky Lynch, who wants a Women’s tag title shot. Becky says that the Women’s Tag Titles are the one set of titles she has yet to win on the main roster, and she wants them. KLR & Isla accept Becky’s challenge, saying that they are going to scorch the women’s division of everyone who tries to stand in their way, and that starts with Becky Lynch and whoever her tag team partner may be. Becky reveals her partner to be Hall of Famer Trish Stratus, saying that they formed a great team at Wrestlemania, and now it’s time to carry that success over to tag team gold. Becky & Trish are surprisingly out of sync, which gaves Kay Lee & Isla the upper hand, with The Unholy Union retaining after a Double Swinging STO on Becky. After the match, Trish shockingly turns heel on Becky, laying The Man out with a Pair of Chick Kicks.)

WWE Intercontinental Championship

Swerve Stricland (C) w/Hit Row vs GUNTHER w/Imperium

(Heel vs heel. After scoring the biggest win of his career over Brock Lesnar, GUNTHER moves his attention over to capturing main roster gold, setting his sights on Swerve Strickland’s Intercontinental title. GUNTHER says that Swerve has done wonders for this great sport as Intercontinental Champion, he has become the longest reigning IC champion of all time, but look at the competition he has faced, he hasn’t faced an actual challenge to his title reign, and for that, he’s a goof, and this goof doesn’t deserve to hold on to that prestigious IC title any longer. Swerve says that for over a year, he has dominated and he has cemented himself as the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time, and sure, WALTER may be the new hot prospect on the block, he just beat Brock Lesnar, but this hype train that he has going on, it’s about to be derailed. GUNTHER counters The Swerve Stomp into his trademark powerbomb, followed up with a pair of lariats, then The Last Symphony to become the new Intercontinental Champion, ending Swerve’s reign at 441 days, the longest IC title reign of all time.)

Matt Riddle vs Carmelo Hayes w/The Hurt Business

(on an episode of Raw in December of 2022, Carmelo Hayes defeats Matt Riddle on an episode of Raw with The Hurt Business beating down Riddle post match, concluded with Melo hitting Nothing But Net on Riddle onto a chair, which puts Matt Riddle on the shelf for 4 months. Riddle returns 4 months later on the Raw after Mania to try to get his revenge on The Hurt Business. Mat Riddle challenges Carmelo Hayes to a match at Backlash, saying Melo cost him 4 months of his career, and now Melo has a bullet headed his way courtesy of The Original Bro. Melo accepts, saying that he did everyone a favor when he put this stoner on the shelf, and now try to prove that he actually stands a chance against him? There’s a reason why Matt Riddle is not Him, he’s to addicted to the devil’s lettuce, he’s gonna be shooting from the logo if he thinks he has a chance at Backlash. After the match, Melo gets up in MVP’s face, saying that they’re done, with Trick & Melo headed to the back by themselves, ending The Hurt Business.)

Smackdown Tag Team Championships

Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn (C) vs The Latino World Order (Joaquin Wilde & Cruz Del Toro)

(After becoming Smackdown Tag Team Champions at Wrestlemania, KO & Sami finish their rivalry with The Usos on the draft night episode of Smackdown. Following this win, KO & Sami are confronted by the LWO’s Raul Mendoza & Joaquin Wilde, who want a shot at KO & Sami’s tag titles, saying that Backlash is a big night for the LWO with Bad Bunny tagging with Rey, Santos, & Elektra, but they want to make it a bigger night by becoming the Smackdown Tag Team Champions. KO & Sami accept, saying they welcome the challenge, but the LWO are gonna have their work cut out for them. The LWO manage to pull off the massive upset, as Joaquin Wilde counters a stunner from KO into a backslide rollup to shockingly become the new tag team champions.)

Steel Cage Match for the Raw Women's Championship

Bianca Belair (C) vs Rhea Ripley

(Following her humiliation at the hands of Bianca Belair at Wrestlemania, Rhea Ripley invokes her rematch clause to settle the score with The EST. Rhea says she had an off night, everyone has one every now and then, look at her track record against Bianca, with the exception of Wrestlemania she has consistently gotten the better of that fraud Bianca, and now that she has her rematch, Bianca is going to experience the agony of defeat when her Raw Women’s title reign is cut short, by The Eradicator. Bianca says that getting her lick back from Rhea and becoming a 2-time Raw Women’s Champion was one of the greatest moments of her life, and now Rhea wants to try to undo all that again, and unlike at Wrestlemania, this time, she wants to defeat Rhea… inside a Steel Cage! Bianca comes close to winning, until Judgment Day leader Finn Balor runs down and handcuffs Bianca to the Cage, allowing Rhea to escape and become a 3-time Raw Women’s Champion, forcing Bianca to go to Smackdown empty-handed.)

Falls Count Anywhere Match for the WWE Championship

Keith Lee (C) vs Karrion Kross w/Scarlett

(After suffering his first ever loss in WWE at Wrestlemania, Karrion Kross invokes his rematch clause against Keith Lee at Backlash. Kross says that somehow, someway, Keith Lee managed to pull off the impossible, he ended his 3-year undefeated streak, he became the WWE Champion after ending his 364-day reign, but at Backlash, he’s brought back to reality, because this rematch isn’t gonna be a normal match, it’s gonna be a match that he is all to familiar with, a match where he changed NXT with the destruction he cause, this rematch is gonna be… a Falls Count Anywhere Match! Keith says that at Wrestlemania, he proved that Karrion Kross was human, he bounced him from the ranks of the undefeatable, and now, Kross’ downward spiral is only going to begin. Keith scores the win with a Big Bang Catastrophe off a balcony through a stack of tables to hand Kross the second defeat of his career in WWE, to retain his WWE Championship.)

World Heavyweight Championship

Cody Rhodes (C) vs Solo Sikoa w/Paul Heyman

(Despite finishing The Story and becoming World Heavyweight Champion at Wrestlemania, Cody still remains in the crosshairs of The Bloodline, with Paul Heyman interrupting Cody’s heartfelt promo on the Smackdown after Wrestlemania, revealing that The Enforcer of The Bloodline, Solo Sikoa, will be Cody’s first challenger at Backlash. Heyman says that at Wrestlemania, a great tragedy occurred, The Tribal Chief was embarrassed, The Usos were embarrassed, Afa & Sika were embarrassed by what Cody Rhodes did, the memory of Yokozuna was disgraced, Umaga turned over in his grave at the sight of what Cody did, he can’t imagine what’s going through the mind of Rikishi, this is all Cody Rhodes’ fault, but now, Cody has to pay the price, because now, he has to deal with The Enforcer, Solo Sikoa, and a new story may have begun for Cody Rhodes, but it ends in chapter 1. Cody says that Solo is gonna learn a lesson, when he was a second-generation wrestler who was flanking the world champion, he thought he was ready, but he wasn’t ready, and Solo, he’s not ready, he’s gonna fall short of expectations, which will cause repercussions for The Bloodline. In the leadup, Paul Heyman tells The Usos that The Tribal Chief is losing his patience with the 2 of them, and if they don’t win back the Smackdown Tag Titles from Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn, there will be consequences. After The Usos fail to win the Smackdown Tag Titles back from KO & Sami, Heyman says that there’s only one way The Usos can make up for this, and that’s by helping Solo become the new World Heavyweight Champion. This is the same match that happened on the go-home Raw before Mania in real life, only it’s given more time. The Usos do try to interfere like in real life, but instead of KO & Sami coming down to fight The Usos, it’s a returning Brock Lesnar, who makes a surprise appearance in Puerto Rico, lays out The Usos, and gives them both an F5. This distracts Solo, who goes for a Samoan Spike on Cody, only for Cody to counter and hit a trio of Cross Rhodes to retain the World Heavyweight Championship, and subsequently handing Solo his first main roster loss. After the match, Brock Lesnar gets in the ring and raises Cody’s hand, only for Brock to shockingly hit Cody with an F5. Brock then repeatedly elbows Cody, before hitting him with another F5, hoisting up The World Heavyweight Championship as the show goes off the air.)
