WWF No Mercy October 17, 1999 Gund Arena Cleveland, OH
*D'Lo Brown d. The British Bulldog by Disqualification [Bulldog Retains the European Title] Arguably the two greatest European champions of all time were squaring off for the title, with the returning British Bulldog having recently turned heel and garnering more of a mean streak. It was this mean streak that shone through, as Bulldog blatantly hit a low blow on D'Lo (just as Brown was going for his Running Powerbomb signature move), resulting in keeping his title but losing the match via disqualification.
*Val Venis d. Stevie Richards by Pinfall Stevie Richards had continued his gimmick of mimicing other superstars in an attempt to play mind games with them. His latest target was the wrestling Adult Film Star Val Venis, with Richards appearing as "The Big Stevebowski" in matches. Val didn't take kindly to the imitating flattery, and challenged Stevie to a match. Richards availed himself well, but Venis eventually hit the Moneyshot to pick up the win.
*The Hardy Boyz [Matt & Jeff Hardy] d. Edge & Christian in a Tag Team Ladder Match for the Rights to Terri Runnels as a Manager In the weeks following Unforgiven, Terri Runnels had made her return to the WWF and offered her services as manager to both The Hardy Boyz and Edge & Christian. She set up (with the aide of Shane McMahon, whom she flirted with to get her way) a Tag Team Ladder Match for her services. The match itself was fantastic, with both teams innovatively using the Ladder for spots never before seen in the WWF. Though it could have gone either way, in the end Matt was able to grab the briefcase off the top of the ladder to win the match. Afterwards, both teams received a standing ovation from the appreciative crowd.
*Ivory d. Tori by Pinfall to Win the WWF Women's Title The feud between Ivory and Tori for the Women's Title finally reached a crescendo, as Ivory put her career on the line to take out her onetime protege. In a back and forth match, Ivory eventually took the victory after hitting a floatover Superplex on Tori, regaining the Women's title and protecting her career.
*The Acolytes [Bradshaw & Faarooq] d. The Dudley Boyz [Bubba Ray & D-Von Dudley] in a Bar Room Brawl After losing to the Dudleys the month before, The Acolytes (now also known as the Acolyte Protection Agency) challenged the same team to simply meet them in a bar room in Cleveland for a brawl. Both teams beat the snot out of the other, with the Acolytes coming out "on top" by leaving the bar first.
*Kane & X-Pac d. The New Age Outlaws [Road Dogg & Bad Ass Billy Gunn] by Pinfall to Win the World Tag Team Titles After The New Age Outlaws turned heel by aligning themselves with Triple H once again, they made the same offer of amnesty to X-Pac to "get the band back together" and reform D-Generation X. X-Pac, feigning interest, suckered them in, which caused the Outlaws to get obliterated by X-Pac's sometimes ally Kane. The unlikely duo then challenged the Outlaws for the tag titles (which the Outlaws had won from the splintering Rock 'n Sock Connection). Kane & X-Pac worked surprisingly well as a team, isolating Road Dogg in the early part of the match before a low blow behind the referee's back caused Kane to stumble. X-Pac eventually got the hot tag and took on the Outlaws almost by himself briefly, but was hit with a Spike Piledriver that nearly ended the match. Kane got his second wind though and hit a chokeslam on each of the Outlaws, before -Pac hit the X-Factor on Billy Gunn to pick up the win and take the titles.
*Owen Hart d. Jeff Jarrett w/Test by Submission in a Loser Leaves the WWF Match for the Intercontinental Title After Jeff Jarrett had cheated to win the IC Title the month before, it was decided that the WWF wasn't big enough for both he and Owen Hart, setting up a Loser Leaves Town match for the Intercontinental Title. Test was ejected from the match early by the referee, leaving the match truly one on one. That didn't stop Jarrett from trying to cheat, attempting to use his guitar as a weapon. However Owen ducked the guitar shot and caught Jarrett in the Sharpshooter, causing him to tap. This banished Jarrett from the WWF (again) and gave Owen the IC Title.
*Al Snow w/Mankind d. The Rock in a Hardcore Match Shortly after the Rebellion Pay Per View, Mankind had given The Rock a heartfelt gift of a signed copy of his autobiography "Have a Nice Day." Later on that same night, Al Snow approached Mankind and said he found the book in the trash. Mankind confronted the Rock, harranguing him with a savage promo and effectively ending the Rock 'n Sock Connection. That same night, the Connection would officially disband after Mankind refused to tag The Rock and lost the tag titles to The New Age Outlaws as a result. Mankind renewed his friendship with Al Snow, who was challenged by The Rock as being the real culprit in the breakup of the team. In this hardcore match, The Rock initially had the advantage on Snow, only for Mankind to interfere and drill The Rock with a steel chair across the head several times in a repeat of their I Quit match from earlier in the year, allowing Snow to pick up the huge upset. After the match, as The Rock was making his way to the back, he ran into Triple H and the two exchanged words.
*Triple H d. Stone Cold Steve Austin by Pinfall to Retain the WWF Championship Stone Cold Steve Austin challenged Triple H for the WWF Title, having won a six-pack challenge for the #1 contendership the previous month at Unforgiven. Austin had to overcome several odds to try and regain his title, ranging from The Big Show to the New Age Outlaws. The match turned into an out and out brawl that went all over the Gund Arena before ending back in the ring. The end came when the referee was down and Triple H hit a Pedigree, only for The Rock to come out and hit The Game with the Rock Bottom. Austin came to and made the cover, only to get a two count. The Rock then came back into the ring with a chair, looking to hit Triple H, only to hit Austin with the chair instead. The Big Show then came back and chased off The Rock, with Triple H hitting a second Pedigree on the chair to pick up the pinfall and retain the title.

Note: It should be noted that the accident with Droz never took place in this timeline, but I have no plans to use him beyond a background character. Also "DiDi" is the name I have given to the female wrestler Bobcat, aka Cynthia Lynch. She is best known as Godfather's Ho, who won the Hardcore title sometime in 2000.
WWF Survivor SeriesNovember 14, 1999 Joe Louis Arena Detroit, MI
*D'Lo Brown, The Godfather & The Headbangers [Mosh & Thrasher] d. The British Bulldog, Mark Henry, Viscera & Gangrel in a Survivor Series Match - The Godfather d. Viscera by Pinfall - Mark Henry d. Headbanger Thrasher by Pinfall - Mark Henry d. Headbanger Mosh by Pinfall - D'Lo Brown d. Gangrel by Pinfall - The Godfather d. Mark Henry by Pinfall - D'Lo Brown d. The British Bulldog by Pinfall Survivors: D'Lo Brown & The Godfather
*Kurt Angle d. Shawn Stasiak by Pinfall Olympic Wrestling Gold Medalist Kurt Angle made his long awaited in ring debut at the Survivor Series against 2nd generation star Shawn Stasiak. During the match, in response to the crowd booing his efforts, Angle actually got on the microphone and chastized the crowd for this negative reactions, eliciting more boos. Angle eventually won the match with a modified firemen's carry slam.
*The Dudley Boys [Bubba Ray & D-Von Dudley] d. The Acolytes [Bradshaw & Faarooq] in a Tables Match The feud between The Dudley Boys and The Acolytes finally came to an end as The Dudleys challenged The APA to their specialty, a Tables match, where the only way to win was to put your opponents through tables. Like their previous encounters, it was a drawn out brawl that ended after D-Von and Bubba Ray hit a 3-D on Faarooq, putting him through a table for the victory. After the match in a backstage segment, Steve Austin's interview was interrupted by Triple H. As Austin chased the WWF Champion to the parking lot, a car came rushing through and ran him down, leaving him lying in the parking lot.
*Crash Holly w/Hardcore Holly d. Chyna in a 'Good Housekeeping' Hardcore Match to Retain the Hardcore Title Crash Holly had unexpectedly won the Hardcore Title from Chyna, while the Holly's had been decrying a woman wrestling at all, with particularly Hardcore Holly saying that a woman's place was "barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen." Chyna challenged Crash and Hardcore to a "Good Housekeeping" match, where weapons related to household chores would be strewn about the ring. Initially billed as a handicap match, Hardcore came out with his arm in a sling, saying that he couldn't compete, making the match between Crash and Chyna alone. After the two beat each other senseless, Chyna appeared ready to use the kitchen sink (literally) to finish off Crash, when Hardcore suddenly pulled the cast off his arm and drilled Chyna in the back of the head with it. Crash then quickly pinned Chyna and ran off, having secured the Hardcore Title.
*Mankind, The Hardy Boyz [Matt & Jeff Hardy] & Edge w/Christian d. Al Snow, The Big Bossman, Prince Albert & Droz in a Survivor Series Match The partnership between Mankind and Al Snow had fallen apart when backstage video revealed that it had been Al Snow who had thrown Mankind's book away, attempting to sabotage the Hardcore Legend's friendship and partnership with the Rock, leading to Mankind viciously attacking Snow whenever he could. - Edge d. The Big Bossman by Pinfall - Matt Hardy d. Droz by Pinfall - Mankind d. Prince Albert by Pinfall - Al Snow was Counted Out Survivors: Mankind, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy & Edge
*Ivory, Jacqueline, DiDi & The Fabulous Moolah d. Tori, Luna Vachon, Terri Runnels & Mae Young in a Survivor Series Match - The Fabulous Moolah and Mae Young Were Counted Out - Luna Vachon d. DiDi by Pinfall - Ivory d. Terri Runnels by Pinfall - Tori d. Ivory by Pinfall - Jacqueline d. Luna Vachon by Pinfall - Jacqueline d. Tori by Pinfall Sole Survivor: Jacqueline
*The Big Show, The New Age Outlaws [Road Dogg & Bad Ass Billy Gunn] & Test d. Kane, X-Pac, Val Venis & "The Lethal Weapon" Steve Blackman in a Survivor Series Match - Test d. "The Lethal Weapon" Steve Blackman by Pinfall - Val Venis d. Test by Pinfall - Bad Ass Billy Gunn d. Val Venis by Pinfall - Kane d. Road Dogg by Pinfall - The Big Show d. X-Pac by Pinfall - Kane d. Bad Ass Billy Gunn by Pinfall - The Big Show Was Disqualified Sole Survivor: Kane After the match, Big Show continued beating down Kane before locking him in an audio equipment box. Big Show and the Outlaws, with X-Pac powerless to stop them, then set the box on fire with Kane trapped inside, with crew desperately trying to get Kane out. Ater a promo for Armageddon next month, it was shown that Kane was being loaded into a stretcher and taken out of the arena.
*Chris Jericho d. Owen Hart by Submission to Win the Intercontinental Title The 5 time Intercontinental Champion defended the title against the young upstart, Y2J Chris Jericho. While the braggadocious Jericho claimed that he would easily defeat "Old Man Owen," in an interview segment just before Survivor Series he admitted that he had modeled his career after Owen, having also been trained in the Hart Dungeon. The two wrestled a highly technical and proficient match, which saw Jericho score the unlikely submission victory after locking Owen in the Walls of Jericho in the center of the ring. After the match, Owen shook Jericho's hand, cementing the latter's face turn.
*Mankind d. Triple H & The Rock to Win the WWF Championship This match was originally scheduled to be a Triple Threat match also involving Stone Cold Steve Austin, with all three men having been involved in the World Title match the previous month at No Mercy. However, Austin was kayfabe written off TV by being run over by a car earlier in the Survivor Series, leading Vince McMahon (who was also acting as special guest referee, due to his ongoing feud with Triple H over remarks the champion had made about Vince's daughter Stephanie) to name a replacement to the match in the form of Mankind. Vince as referee was clearly biased against Triple H, but the lingering issues between Mankind and The Rock prevented the former tag team champions from working as a cohesive unit against the champion. Vince also enlisted others, such as The Hardy Boyz, to keep the New Age Outlaws and Big Show from interfering in the match as well. The end came after Triple H hit a Pedigree on Mankind, only for Vince to refuse to count the fall. The Rock then came in and hit the Rock Bottom, only for Mankind to break up the pin. As Mankind and Rock fought it out (with Mankind hitting the People's Champion with a Double Arm DDT), Triple H grabbed the WWF Title belt and attempted to use it as a weapon. Vince instead grabbed the title from Triple H and drilled him with the belt, allowing Mankind to hit his version of the People's Elbow to pin Triple H and regain the WWF title to the delight of the Detroit crowd, and the dismay of the Game.
Off-Camera Title Change: November 15: The World Tag Team Titles Are Vacated, due to injuries sustained by Kane at Survivor Series (in kayfabe), a tournament is set up to crown new champions. November 25: D'Lo Brown d. The British Bulldog by Pinfall to Win the European Title November 25: "The Lethal Weapon" Steve Blackman d. Crash Holly to Win the Hardcore Title

WWF Armageddon December 12, 1999 National Car Rental Center Sunrise, FL
*D'Lo Brown d. The British Bulldog by Pinfall in a Strap Match to Retain the European Title The feud between D'Lo Brown and The British Bulldog over the European Title finally came to a conclusion, as D'Lo defeated Davey Boy in a Strap Match to retain his title, hitting the former champion with the Sky High slam to pickup the pinfall victory.
*The Dudley Boyz [Bubba Ray & D-Von Dudley] d. Too Cool [Grandmaster Sexay & Scotty 2 Hotty] by Pinfall Following the injuries to Kane (in kayfabe), he and X-Pac were forced to relinquish the World Tag Team Titles. A tournament was held to crown new champions, with The Dudley Boyz and Too Cool making it to the semifinals. Despite losing their respective semifinal matches, the two teams were given a chance to earn a title shot at the upcoming Royal Rumble. The Dudleys defeated Too Cool after hitting Grandmaster Sexay with a 3-D. After the match the two Dudleys appeared ready to put the opposing team through a table, only to be chased off by Rikishi (the former Tiga), who had turned face in recent weeks and aligned himself with the hip-hop duo.
*Chris Jericho d. Test by Submission to Retain the Intercontinental Title After winning the Intercontinental Title (and the respect of Owen Hart in the process), Chris Jericho's first test as champion was literally Test, the former bodyguard/enemy of the Blackhart. Test attempted to use his height and weight advantage throughout the match, focusing on trying to nail his big boot finisher, which he promised would oneshot Jericho if he hit it. Y2J managed to avoid the shot though, eventually locking Test in the Walls of Jericho and picking up the submission victory.
*Kurt Angle d. Owen Hart by Pinfall The Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle had been undefeated since his debut at the Survivor Series. In this match however he met his wrestling equal in former Intercontinental Champion Owen Hart. Owen could easily match holds with Angle, and the young rookie, despite his skill, couldn't outmanuever the Blackhart. However Angle wasn't above using cheating tactics and, as the referee admonished Hart for not breaking on a hold as Angle was near the ropes, Angle used the distraction to hit a surreptitious low blow on Hart. He then delivered an Angle slam to pick up the tainted victory and retain his undefeated streak.
*Jacqueline d. Ivory by Pinfall to Win the WWF Women's Title At the Survivor Series, Jacqueline had impressed many people by being the Sole Survivor in the Women's Survivor Series match. This led to her receiving a title shot at Ivory for the Women's Championship. In a competitive match, Jacqueline pulled off the upset after a Tornado DDT, pinning Ivory to win her 2nd Women's Title.
*The Hardy Boyz [Matt & Jeff Hardy] d. The New Age Outlaws [Road Dogg & Bad Ass Billy Gunn] by Pinfall to Win the Vacant World Tag Team Titles In the tournament final to crown new World Tag Team Champions, The 4-time champions The New Age Outlaws were the clear favorites. Between their experience and Triple H/The Big Show being at their beck and call, it seemed like the Hardys didn't stand a chance. But the youngsters were able to hold their own against the veteran team and scored the upset, with Jeff hitting Billy Gunn with the Swanton Bomb to pick up the victory and secure the titles.
*The Big Show d. X-Pac in a Steel Cage Match After The Big Show had burned Kane at the Survivor Series, the Giant was challenged to a Steel Cage match by X-Pac, which the overconfident Big Show quickly accepted. Despite the size difference, X-Pac was able to use the cage to his advantage to jump around several times and hit Show with a quick strike offense that kept him off balance. But The Giant was able to gain the victory after catching X-Pac with a Chokeslam off the top of the Steel Cage, actually causing him to crash through the ring. Afterwards, EMT's came out and escorted X-Pac away on a stretcher.
*Mankind d. Al Snow in a Falls Count Anywhere Match to Retain the WWF Championship After Mankind had learned of Al Snow's duplicity in breaking up The Rock 'n Sock Connection, Mick Foley had made it his mission to destroy Snow, who had adopted a gimmick of a conspiracy theorist who thought everyone was out to get him. This match was made Falls Count Anywhere in the build, which meant that the match didn't get a traditional start, instead starting in the parking lot when Snow arrived late for the event (which he chalked up to a traffic conspiracy.) Snow and Foley then brawled throughout the arena, from the boiler room to bathrooms to the concession stands, before finally making their way in the arena where crews were replacing the portion of the ring that had been destroyed by X-Pac/Big Show the match prior. Foley eventually hit Snow with a Double Arm DDT on the entryway and pinned him there, retaining the title.
*Triple H d. Vince McMahon by Pinfall Vince McMahon had begun feuding with Triple H in September when the latter made ill-advised comments concerning the chairman's daughter, Stephanie. This feud picked up in intensity in November, when Triple H insinuated that he was in a relationship with Stephanie, something that she denied. When Stephanie tried to confront The Game on an episode of Raw, she was interrupted by her brother Shane, who attempted to defend her honor, only for Shane to be attacked by the New Age Outlaws. This led Vince to challenge Triple H to a No Holds Barred match so that he could defend his family. In the match, both men were busted open as they used various weapons to damage the other. The end came when Triple H prepared to use a sledge hammer on Vince, only for Stephanie to come through the crowd ostensibly to save her father. However, instead she handed the sledge hammer to Triple H, allowing him to pick up the victory and showing that she was in a relationship with Triple H all along. The scene of them making out while the barely conscious chairman watched closed the show.
Off-Camera Title Change: December 13: Triple H d. Mankind to Win the WWF Championship December 13: The Big Show d. D'Lo Brown to Win the European Championship December 30: Crash Holly d. "The Lethal Weapon" Steve Blackman to Win the Hardcore Championship January 3: Essa Rios d. Teddy Hart to Win the Light Heavyweight Championship

Note: I forgot to mention that Owen Hart's last regular appearance was Armageddon 1999. By all accounts he wanted to end his career early, and while I'm not entirely certain on the timeframe of his contract situation, two years from Montreal (and I believe 4 from his last contract signing) is enough of a ballpark estimate for me to call it here. He will likely show up for the odd appearance here and there and will get a Hall of Fame induction in the future, but just assume he had a short run in Japan (given how Bret was treated I don't think he'd have gone to WCW) and then retired as a full time competitor.WWF Royal RumbleJanuary 23, 2000Madison Square GardenNew York City, NY*Tazz d. Kurt Angle by Submission Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle had made a name for himself in his first two months in the World Wrestling Federation as a clueless "American hero." He had amassed a long undefeated streak (though sometimes through dubious means, such as his victory over Owen Hart at Armageddon) in that timeframe as well. He issued an open challenge for the Royal Rumble to anyone in New York City to try and take him on. The challenge was answered by former ECW champion, Tazz, who arrived with much fanfare. Tazz used his unique suplex-heavy offense to toss Angle around the ring like a ragdoll, and eventually locked him in a Katahajime, also known as the "Tazzmission", causing Angle to pass out from the apparent choke hold and gaining the victory.
*The Hardy Boyz [Matt & Jeff Hardy] d. The Dudley Boyz [Bubba Ray & D-Von Dudley] in a Tables Match to retain the World Tag Team Titles With the Hardy Boyz the new World Tag Team Champions, there first challenge was from the #1 contenders, The Dudley Boyz, who challenged Matt and Jeff to a Tag Team Tables Match, where both members of a team had to go through a table in order to win. The Dudleys went up first when D-Von sent Matt through a table perched in the corner on a backdrop. However Matt evened the score by leg dropping D-Von through a table as well. Both teams brawled through the ring and out into the crowd, with the match ending after Jeff hit a Swanton Bomb to Bubba Ray through a table, jumping off a balcony to do so. This gave the Hardys the win and the title retention.
*Stephanie McMahon d. Jacqueline by Pinfall to Win the WWF Women's Title With Vince McMahon seemingly away on sabbatical and Shane McMahon injured, Stephanie had stepped up to assume the day to day operations of the WWF (aided by the fact that Commissioner Shawn Michaels had been fired by Triple H in absentia). In addition to the actions the newly installed "McMahon-Helmsley" regime had taken, where Triple H (acting with full authority as Stephanie's boyfriend and later fiance) had fired Mick Foley for a brief time, Stephanie sought to become the Women's Champion by targeting Jacqueline. Stephanie stacked the deck against the champion in the weeks leading up to the Royal Rumble, but was seemingly overwhelmed when Jacqueline managed to overcome them and hold on to the title going into the Rumble. Jacqueline easily wrestled circles around the "Billion Dollar Princess" in the short match, but was attacked from behind by the Amazonian Nicole Bass. Bass' actions allowed Stephanie to pin Jacqueline and become the Women's Champion.
*Chris Jericho d. Al Snow by Pinfall to Retain the WWF Intercontinental Title The conspiracist Al Snow had turned his attention towards new Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho, insinuating that he was the cause of all of his misery in the last few months, given that his arrival to the WWF corresponded with Snow's seeming turn of misfortune. As such he sought to ruin Jericho's life by taking away the Intercontinental Title. The match was pretty even, despite Snow getting an advantage early on by using Head to drill Jericho in the back of his. However Y2J fought back, eventually countering Snow's attempt at a Northern Lights Suplex with an inside cradle to pick up the victory and retain the title in a hard fought match.
*Triple H d. Cactus Jack in a New York Street Fight to Retain the WWF Championship The night after he had revealed his relationship with Stephanie McMahon at Armageddon, Triple H and his new paramore found themselves de facto in charge of the WWF due to injuries sustained by Shane McMahon and the fact that Vince McMahon was away on sabbatical. As such, Triple H immediately gave himself a title match with WWF Champion Mankind, which he won thanks to help from the New Age Outlaws and The Big Show. Right after the match, he then added insult to injury by firing Mick Foley outright. Over the next several weeks Triple H would mock Foley, including a dastardly segment where he had Foley's wife and kids come out to plead for his job, only to tell them he was still fired. Foley however was reinstated when The Rock and X-Pac led a wrestler's strike that would have crippled the WWF, with the additional stipulation that Foley receive a title shot at Triple H at the Royal Rumble. Eventually Foley admitted that Mankind wasn't geared to take on Triple H...but that his alter ego Cactus Jack was. The sadistic alter ego of Mick Foley and The Game fought in a bloody street fight that saw both men get busted open. Several different weapons, from barbed wire wrapped 2x4's to kendo sticks to steel chairs were used, culminating in Jack bringing out a bag of thumbtacks. Triple H eventually won the match after hitting a 2nd Pedigree on the tacks, knocking out Jack long enough to pick up the win.
*The Rock Won the 30-Man Royal Rumble Match The main story going into the Royal Rumble was The Rock seeking to gain a title shot against Triple H, after being "banned" from ever receiving another title match by Stephanie McMahon. The main goal of the Regime's entrants into the match, specifically the Big Show, was to prevent this from happening. The match started with Steve Blackman and D'Lo Brown entering, and an early highlight was the entry of Rikishi, who seemingly cleared the field (but not before dancing with Too Cool before eliminating them.) The match in the end came down to The Rock and The Big Show, with the European Champion toying with the self-professed People's Champion. As Big Show looked to eliminate The Rock from the match, Rocky grabbed the top rope and used the Big Show's own momentum to carry him over the top, eliminating him and thus winning the match. The Rock celebrated to close out the show.

WWF No Way Out 2000 February 27, 2000 Hartford Civic Center Hartford, CT
*Edge & Christian d. The New Age Outlaws [Road Dogg & Bad Ass Billy Gunn] by Pinfall With the Arrival of the Radicalz to the WWF, the New Age Outlaws were on the outs with the McMahon-Helmsley Regime. In order to try and get back in their good graces, the Outlaws challenged Edge & Christian to a #1 contenders match to try and regain the World Tag Team Titles. However, the former Brood members were ready for the former champions, as Edge and Christian largely dominated the Outlaws in a way they weren't used to. Edge eventually scored the pinfall on Road Dogg after nailing a Spear out of nowhere, gaining the #1 contendership and leaving the Outlaws floundering for direction.
*Tazz d. Test w/Trish Stratus by Submission The Human Suplex Machine Tazz had been on a tear since his debut at the Royal Rumble, and that looked to continue against the big man Test. In contrast, Test had been floundering since losing his association with Jeff Jarrett late the year before, but found new direction in hiring a new manager in the form of Trish Stratus. However Trish's presence on the outside didn't help, as Tazz scored another victory with the Tazzmission.
*Chris Benoit w/Eddie Guerrero d. X-Pac by Submission The week after the Royal Rumble, the quartet of Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko made their debut in the WWF, appearing in the crowd and interrupting a match between The New Age Outlaws and Too Cool. Initially appearing as outsiders, it would later be revealed that the Quartet had been hired by the McMahon-Helmsley Regime to try and eliminate their enemies, including X-Pac. The seeming leader of the group, Chris Benoit, tried to take out X-Pac himself. While the underdog was able to keep Benoit's methodical pace at bay for the most part, the addition of Eddie Guerrero on the outside was enough of a distraction for Benoit to lock X-Pac in the Crippler Crossface, picking up the submission victory. After the match, as Chris Jericho came out for his IC Title defense, Benoit stared at his former WCW rival briefly before heading to the back.
*Kurt Angle d. Chris Jericho by Pinfall to Win the WWF Intercontinental Title Despite losing to Tazz at the Royal Rumble (though he insisted it was an illegal chokehold, thus he should still be considered unbeaten), Olympic Hero Kurt Angle had not stopped his winning ways, setting his sights on Chris Jericho's Intercontinental Title. However Y2J was more than game for Angle, becoming the first man to pin the gold medalist in the WWF during a six man tag. It looked as if Jericho would duplicate that feat in their title match, until the referee went down after an errant spin kick from Jericho. Jericho then countered the Angle Slam and hit the Lionsault, which would have garnered the pin. As Y2J attended to the referee, Chris Benoit came back to ringside and attacked Jericho with a steel chair, knocking him out. Angle took advantage, lifted Jericho up and hit an Angle Slam for good measure as the ref came to, pinning the champion and winning his first championship in the WWF.
*Hardcore Holly d. Crash Holly, Viscera, The Big Boss Man, Al Snow, "The Lethal Weapon" Steve Blackman, Grandmaster Sexay, Scotty 2 Hotty, Rikishi, Joey Abs, Rodney & Pete Gas in a Hardcore Boiler Room Battle Royal to Win the Hardcore Title Hardcore Champion Crash Holly had made a name for himself as the "Houdini of Hardcore", escaping with his title at most junctures, mostly by luck. In this match however, the only way to win was to escape the Boiler Room with the Hardcore Title in your possession. The brawl went all over the vast underground room of the Hartford Civic Center, though eventually Hardcore Holly tried to help his cousin win, knocking out Steve Blackman in the process. However Hardcore then turned on Crash and stole the title for himself, becoming the Hardcore champion by escaping the Boiler Room.
*Nicole Bass w/Stephanie McMahon d. Ivory by Pinfall After winning the Women's Title at the Royal Rumble, Stephanie McMahon (soon to be Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley, as the two were scheduled to be wed in less than two weeks from No Way Out) decreed that if anyone was to receive a shot at her title, they would first have to beat her bodyguard, body builder Nicole Bass. Former champion Ivory stepped up to the plate, but she was beaten down by the muscular Bass before the bell even rang, with Bass eventually pinning Ivory following a huge powerslam, defeating her with ease.
*The Hardy Boyz [Matt & Jeff Hardy] w/Lita d. Dean Malenko & Perry Saturn by Pinfall to Retain the World Tag Team Titles As part of the goal to take out the enemies of the McMahon-Helmsley Regime, Radicalz members Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn were given the opportunity to wrestle the tag team titles away from The Hardy Boyz, who had recently aligned themselves with Lita (who was targeting Stephanie's Women's Title). Malenko and Saturn, despite not having the experience as a tag team that the Hardys did, worked very well together and nearly won the title after Saturn hit a Death Valley Driver on Matt Hardy. However Lita interjected herself into the match, resulting in the pinfall being broken up. Matt and Jeff then made a comeback, with Jeff hitting the Swanton on Dean Malenko and getting the pinfall to retain their titles.
*The Rock d. The Big Show w/Shane McMahon by Pinfall to Retain his Wrestlemania Title Shot Despite winning the Royal Rumble, The Rock was stripped of his Wrestlemania title shot by the McMahon-Helmsley Regime, on account of just because they could. Eventually Shane McMahon returned, ostensibly to appeal to The Rock, negotiating with his future brother in law to put the title shot on the line in a match between The Rock and the man he had beaten at the Rumble, The Big Show. The match would prove to be a farce though, as Shane aligned himself with the Big Show from the start. The Radicalz also got involved, leaving it a 6 on 1 advantage against The People's Champion. Before Show could finish off The Great One though, the lights went dark and Paul Bearer appeared in the entryway. Kane's music hit and the Big Red Machine made his return through hellfire and brimstone, laying waste to the Radicalz and Tombstoning Shane McMahon on the outside. He looked to attack the Giant, but merely performed his corner pyro, startling the Big Show into turning around right into a Rock Bottom. The Rock followed up with the People's Elbow to finish off The Big Show and go to Wrestlemania 2000.
*Triple H w/Stephanie McMahon d. Cactus Jack by Pinfall in a Hell in a Cell Match to Retain the WWF Championship After defeating Cactus Jack in a Street Fight at the Royal Rumble, the WWF Champion thought he was through dealing with Mick Foley. However Cactus had other ideas, and challenged the Game to one more match at No Way Out. After some back and forth, Triple H got Foley to agree to put his career on the line, however Foley got to choose the stipulation of the match (as Triple H figured Jack couldn't think of anything worse than a Street Fight.) Jack's stipulation however, was the dreaded Hell in a Cell. With his career on the line, Foley pulled out all the stops in one last attempt to become WWF Champion and main event Wrestlemania. To his credit, The Game was able to withstand much of Foley's offense as the two eventually brawled outside of and up to the top of the Hell in a Cell structure. Foley attempted to piledrive Triple H on top of the cell, but The Game instead backdropped Foley through the Cell, causing him to Crash into the ring below. Amazingly this only garnered a two count, before Triple H ended Foley's career with one final Pedigree to retain the title, celebrating to close the show.

Wrestlemania 2000 April 2, 2000 Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Los Angeles, CA
*Eddie Guerrero w/Dean Malenko & Perry Saturn d. X-Pac by Pinfall to Win the European Title X-Pac had regained the European Title by defeating The Big Show with help from Kane on an episode of Raw. However he found himself facing off against Eddie Guerrero in the opening match of Wrestlemania 2000. The two cruiserweights put on a classic, high flying show, and thankfully both Malenko and Saturn were ejected from ringside when the Radicalz attempted to get involved in the match. After a spirited back and forth, Eddie was able to block an attempted Bronco Buster by darting out of the way. He then hit a brainbuster and followed up with a Frogsplash to pick up the victory and win the European Title.
*T&A [Test & Albert] w/Trish Stratus d. The APA [Bradshaw & Faarooq], Too Cool [Grandmaster Sexay & Scotty 2 Hotty] & D'Lo Brown & The Godfather in a Fatal Fourway Match by Pinfall Manager Trish Stratus had assembled a new tag team of her own called "T&A" consisting of Test and the former Prince Albert (now just going by Albert). The duo faced off against the APA, Too Cool and the duo of D'Lo Brown and The Godfather (this latter of which was led to the ring by a live performance from rapper Ice T) with the winning team receiving a title shot at Backlash the following month. The match was a chaotic affair that nearly ended after Bradshaw hit D'Lo with a Clothesline from Hell. Before The Acolyte could make the cover though, Test came in and KO'ed Bradshaw with his Big Boot while Albert pinned D'Lo, picking up the victory for the new team.
*Rikishi d. Bad Ass Billy Gunn w/Road Dogg by Pinfall With their failures to regain the tag team titles present, as well as falling out with Triple H and the McMahon-Helmsley Regime, cracks started to form in the partnership of the New Age Outlaws, with both men attempting to become singles stars in addition to their tag team accolades. To that end, Bad Ass Billy Gunn challenged Rikishi to a match at Wrestlemania. However Gunn couldn't outmatch the large Samoan, as Rikishi hit a Banzai Drop in the corner to pick up the victory. After the match, Road Dogg tried to sneak attack Rikishi, and received a Stink Face for his trouble.
*Ivory, Lita, Jacqueline & Tori d. Nicole Bass w/Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley by Pinfall Shortly after No Way Out, Stephanie McMahon and Triple H held their wedding on an episode of Raw. While the wedding itself went off without a problem, the same could not be said for the reception, which was crashed not only by enemies of the McMahon-Helmsley Regime (such as The Rock and X-Pac) but also by a returning Mr. McMahon. Vince laid out many edicts for the power couple, most notably ordering that her daughter's bodyguard Nicole Bass face four top challengers for the Women's Title in a Handicap Match at wrestlemania 2000, with the winner getting a shot at the Women's Title the following night on Raw. Despite the 4 on 1 handicap, Bass was eventually beaten, with Lita hitting a moonsault on the Amazon to pick up the victory.
*Crash Holly d. Hardcore Holly by Pinfall to Win the Hardcore Title Hardcore Holly had turned on his younger cousin the month before, stealing the Hardcore Title from Crash during the Boiler Room Brawl. Undeterred, Crash attempted to regain his title, challenging Hardcore to a return match for the title. Hardcore actually dominated much of the match, utilizing a surprising amount of technical wrestling moves versus the normal hardcore match. However Crash was able to score the victory after hitting a Tornado DDT off a setup ladder through a table to pick up the victory.
*Chris Jericho d. Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle & Tazz in a Fatal Fourway Match to Win the Intercontinental Title Kurt Angle had won the Intercontinental Title the previous month at No Way Out, due in part to interference from Chris Benoit. His first title defense, against Tazz, had even more interference as Chris Jericho got involved. All four men were in each other's orbits with various victories over the others, leading to a Fatal Fourway match for the Intercontinental Title. In a highly athletic match, it unfortunately ended in controversy. While Tazz had Angle in the Tazzmission and had seemingly caused him to tap out, the referee was instead distracted by Jericho holding Benoit in the Walls of Jericho, and only witnessed his tapout, giving Jericho the match but leaving Tazz upset over the fact that he was seemingly screwed. Afterwards, Tazz choked out the referee in response.
*Edge & Christian d. The Dudley Boyz [Bubba Ray & D-Von Dudley] & The Hardy Boyz [Matt & Jeff Hardy] in a Triangle Ladder Match to Win the World Tag Team Titles Edge and Christian's title chance that they earned at No Way Out was scuttled by The Dudley Boyz, who proceeded to put both teams through tables as they interrupted their match on Raw. Subsequently, The Dudleys defeated The Hardys after Edge accidentally speared Matt during their title rematch, winning the titles for the first time. This three way feud culminated in the first Triangle Ladder Match at Wrestlemania. A prelude to the TLC matches that would come later, all three teams tore the house down with several different high spots and fantastic moves. In the end, Edge and Christian were able to climb two ladders and grab the tag titles, winning the epic match.
*Kane w/Paul Bearer d. The Big Show w/Shane McMahon by Pinfall At the Survivor Series, The Big Show had attempted to end Kane's career by locking him in a cargo box and then setting it on fire, resulting in (kayfabe) injuries that would sideline the Big Red Machine for several weeks. Kane made his return at No Way Out during the match between The Rock and The Big Show, costing the Giant the opportunity to go to Wrestlemania. Kane then made it his mission to destroy both The Big Show and Shane McMahon heading into Wrestlemania, looking for revenge. The Giant was able to give as good as he got as the two behemoths battled in a relatively slow match. In the end, Kane hit a massive top rope Chokeslam on The Big Show to pick up the win.
*The Rock d. Triple H w/Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley by Pinfall to Win the WWF Championship After overcoming all of the obstacles put in front of him by the McMahon-Helmsley Regime, The Rock seemingly got a reprieve when Vince McMahon returned to the WWF, crashing the reception of his daughter and newly gained son-in-law and effectively taking control back of the WWF. Vince installed himself as the Special Guest Referee for the main event of Wrestlemania, and also announced that Stone Cold Steve Austin would return for one night only to act as the Special Guest Enforcer. Yet at Wrestlemania, McMahon unfortunately announced that Austin's plane had been delayed and he wouldn't be available for the show. As The Rock and Triple H renewed their years long rivalry, it became clear towards the end of the match that McMahon intended to screw The Rock and help Triple H retain the title. However that was when Austin surprisingly returned, laying waste to the Regime and attacking Vince. In the confusion, The Rock hit Triple H with the Rock Bottom and the People's Elbow, as Austin counted the fall and The People's Champ regained the WWF Championship. Austin did look long and hard at the title he had once held, before seemingly reluctantly handing it to the Rock. Rocky then celebrated to close out the show.
Note: The 24/7 rule of the Hardcore Title begins the Raw after Wrestlemania.

Shouldn’t it be off-PPV title changes?

Shouldn’t it be off-PPV title changes? I mean its off camera in the sense of all you are seeing is the PPV stuff, like skimming through the network and watching just the Pay Per Views. It's generally just an argument about semantics, ultimately. Just what I called it and just kept it going for consistency's sake.

WWF Backlash April 30, 2000 MCI Center Washington, D.C.
*Steven Richards w/Bull Buchanan d. Val Venis by Pinfall The former Stevie Richards had started referring to himself by "Steven" and had adopted the gimmick of a righteous censor, looking to restore family values to television by targeting the WWF's lewd content. With his henchman, Bull Buchanan, the Right to Censor had immediately targeted adult film star Val Venis. Val dominated much of this match before Buchanan got involved, hitting a huge clothesline while the ref's back was turned. This allowed Richards to hit a Steven Kick to Val to pick up the win. Afterwards, Richards and Buchanan used cholorform on Val and drug him off into a white van, effectively kidnapping him.
*Jerry "The King" Lawler Emerged With the Hardcore Title There was a scheduled match between Crash Holly and Perry Saturn for the Hardcore Title, however the match was interrupted by "The Lethal Weapon" Steve Blackman who was looking to cash in on the Hardcore Title's "24/7" rule which meant the title could be won anytime, anywhere as long as a referee was present. Blackman attacked Saturn with tonfa sticks, seemingly knocking him out, but before he could cover him Crash took him out with a suicide dive to the outside. Sensing an opportunity, announcer Jerry "The King" Lawler left commentary and got the referee to count the pinfall, thus making Lawler the Hardcore champion. The King then ran off through the crowd as Crash and Blackman gave chase. Michael Cole would serve as co-commentator with Jim Ross for the remainder of the night.
*Edge & Christian d. T&A [Test & Albert] w/Trish Stratus by Pinfall to Retain the World Tag Team Titles Test & Albert had earned a tag team title shot the previous month in their victory in the Fatal Fourway match at Wrestlemania. Meanwhile Edge & Christian had also turned heel after turning on the Hardy Boyz on an episode of Smackdown, making this a heel vs. heel matchup. The larger team of Test & Albert controlled the pace of the match, with Trish interjecting herself at opportune times. However Edge and Christian were able to be sneaky as well. With the referee knocked out by a spear from Edge, the champion himself was KO'ed by a big boot from Test. Before the referee could be revived though, Christian nailed both Test and Albert with one of the tag title belts, allowing Edge to pick up the win as the referee came to and retain the championship.
*Dean Malenko w/Eddie Guerrero d. Scotty 2 Hotty w/Grandmaster Sexay & Rikishi by Submission to Win the Light Heavyweight Title With every other member of the Radicalz having a title (at least coming into the night), Dean Malenko set his sights on the Light Heavyweight Championship held by Too Cool member Scotty 2 Hotty. With Too Cool and Eddie Guerrero on the outside for the match, there were the ingredients for an explosive powder keg. Thankfully the match was a highly competitive affair that saw Malenko pick up the win after Scotty whiffed on a top rope cross body. Malenko then locked in the Texas Cloverleaf, getting the submission victory.
*Bad Ass Billy Gunn d. Road Dogg by Pinfall The New Age Outlaws had finally imploded after months of tension between them, leading to this one on one match between the multiple time tag team champions. As might be expected, the two men knew each other very well and could counter each other's offense, but the match ended on a bit of a fluke when Gunn rolled up Road Dogg from behind, using the ropes for additional leverage to pick up the quick, unexpected victory.
*The Dudley Boyz [Bubba Ray & D-Von Dudley] d. Kane & X-Pac by Pinfall The McMahon-Helmsley regime had outsourced dealing with the reunited team of Kane & X-Pac, enlisting former tag team champions The Dudley Boyz in an attempt to take them out. At first it appeared that Kane & X-Pac had resumed working like the well-oiled machine that they had been in the past. However that changed when X-Pac suddenly turned on his tag team partner, hitting him with a low blow and then walking out on the match without a word. This left Kane to be hit with a Dudley Death Drop, giving the Dudley Boyz the win.
*Lita d. Nicole Bass by Disqualification to Retain the Women's Title After Lita had won the Women's Title from Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley (per the order of newly installed WWF commissioner Mick Foley), the McMahon-Helmsley regime tasked Stephanie's bodyguard Nicole Bass with regaining the Women's Title (and potentially destroying Lita in the process.) Bass manhandled the champion throughout the short match, but to the detriment of everything else, as she refused to release a choke hold on Lita, thus earning a disqualification and keeping the belt on the champion.
*Chris Benoit d. Chris Jericho, Tazz & Kurt Angle in a 30 Minute Championship Scramble to Retain the Intercontinental Title After the controversial finish at Wrestlemania, Chris Jericho had lost the Intercontinental Title to Chris Benoit the following night on Raw. The following week, Benoit lost a non-title match to Tazz after interference from Kurt Angle. With all four men still orbiting around each other, Commissioner Foley ordered a Championship Scramble match. The match would last for 30 minutes, with the title being won by whoever scored the last fall during the match. Benoit became champion by making Tazz tap out to the Crossface with less than 30 seconds left, after Jericho took out Angle with a clothesline to the outside. Jericho then locked Benoit in the Walls of Jericho and nearly got another fall, but time expired before Benoit could give up, keeping the title with the Rabid Wolverine.
*The Rock d. Triple H w/Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley & The Big Show by Pinfall to Retain the WWF Championship The night after Wrestlemania, Vince McMahon attempted a power play by forcing The Rock to defend the WWF Title against Triple H in a 4 on 1 Handicap Match also involving The Big Show, himself and his son Shane. However, this plan was scuttled by WWF CEO Linda McMahon, who returned to remind Vince that she had reinstated the position of WWF Commissioner to act as a check on Vince's power. Even though Shawn Michaels had been removed from the position weeks earlier in absentia, Linda appointed a new commissioner in the form of the newly retired Mick Foley. Foley then made a match for Backlash between The Rock, Triple H and The Big Show in a triple threat match for the title (after Big Show defeated Kane on Smackdown thanks to help from the Dudley Boyz). This led to the longtime enforcer of the Regime wanting the title for himself, creating tension between Big Show and Triple H. During the match, Big Show's pesudo manager Shane McMahon showed his true colors, attacking Show in favor of trying to help his brother-in-law win the title. Shane received a chokeslam for his troubles, but the distraction allowed Triple H to clip Big Show's knee with a sledge hammer. However The Rock was able to best Triple H again, hitting the Rock Bottom and scoring the pinfall to retain his title.
