WWE Capitol Punishment June 19, 2011 Verizon Center Washington, D.C.
*The British Invasion [Wade Barrett & Drew McIntyre] d. The Aerial Aces [Evan Bourne & Justin Gabriel] by Pinfall to Win the WWE World Tag Team Titles The Aerial Aces had regained the WWE World Tag Team Titles from the team of Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov on an episode of Smackdown, only to be blindsided by the duo of Wade Barrett and Drew McIntyre backstage on the very same event. This newly christened team, dubbed The British Invasion, easily bested the high flying champions in the opening match, with Barrett knocking Gabriel out of the air with his Bullhammer elbow, knocking him clean out.
*Daniel Bryan d. Tyson Kidd w/Natalya by Submission In what was billed as a Money in the Bank Qualifying match, Daniel Bryan was able to defeat Tyson Kidd via submission, surviving Kidd's attempt at a Sharpshooter and locking him in the LeBell Lock for the win.
*Kevin Nash d. Alberto del Rio & Jack Swagger by Pinfall to Retain the United States Title Alberto del Rio and Jack Swagger were both targeting Kevin Nash for the United States title, forming a brief alliance together to take down Big Sexy. However Nash's size was a benefit to him, as was his experience. He played possum long enough for the tentative partnership between del Rio and Swagger to fracture before jumping in to take advantage, with Nash powerbombing both The All American and the Mexican Aristocrat to earn the pinfall and pick up the win.
*CM Punk d. Dolph Ziggler, Kofi Kingston & The Miz by Pinfall to become #1 Contender to the WWE Title WWE General Manager John Laurinitis had ordered a Fatal Fourway Match at Capitol Punishment to crown a new #1 contender to the WWE title at Money in the Bank. Despite not having been seen much since Wrestlemania, CM Punk earned a spot in the match and dominated, eventually pinning Kofi Kingston after hitting a GTS (much to the chagrin of The Miz, who had hit a Skull Crushing Finale against Ziggler for what he thought was the victory at the same time.)
*Cody Rhodes d. Rey Mysterio in a 2 out of 3 Falls Match to Retain the Intercontinental Title The feud between Cody Rhodes and Rey Mysterio finally reached its end as the IC Champion put his belt on the line in a match where it would be best 2 out of 3 Falls. Cody was able to win the first fall with a rollup and held tights for additional leverage, and then worked over Mysterio's knee to try and win the second fall. Mysterio fought out of a single leg crab and eventually got a head of steam, scoring a Frankensteiner out of nowhere with a pinning combination to win the 2nd fall. Both men fought back and forth, but Rhodes eventually won the day with a Cross Rhodes to retain his title.
*Christian d. Randy Orton by Disqualification to Win the World Heavyweight Championship Christian had appealed to WWE General Manager John Laurinitis for another shot at Randy Orton's World Heavyweight Championship, especially after their rematch on Smackdown ended in a Disqualification Win for Christian. Laurinitis removed the championship advantage for Orton in this match, leading to Christian attempting to get Orton disqualified by playing on his notorious temper. Eventually Captain Charisma's underhanded tactics worked, as Orton lost his cool and hit Christian with a blatant low blow, losing the match and his title.
*John Cena d. Mark Henry by Pinfall to Retain the WWE Championship Shortly after Extreme Rules, Mark Henry had appeared on an episode of Raw ostensibly to announce his retirement. When WWE Champion John Cena came out to congratulate him on a career well done, Henry turned on Cena and proved the whole thing to be a ruse, setting up this title match for Capitol Punishment. Cena was barely able to survive a much more vicious Mark Henry, who vowed to induct Cena into his personal "Hall of Pain." However Cena eventually won the match with a second Rope Attitude Adjustment, barely escaping with his title.

WWE Money in the Bank July 17, 2011 Rosemont Horizon Chicago, IL
*Daniel Bryan d. Cody Rhodes, Sin Cara, Zack Ryder, Alex Riley, David Otunga, Jack Swagger & Ted DiBiase Jr. in a Money in the Bank Ladder Match The first Money in the Bank Ladder match would give the winner a guaranteed shot at the World Heavyweight Championship at any point in the next 12 months. The match had one late addition, as the legal advisor to WWE General Manager David Otunga suspended Santino Marella for one night and inserted himself into the match instead. This wouldn't help him though, as Otunga was taken out relatively early on. Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase Jr appeared to be the favorites, as the former Legacy members at first fought together to take out the field and then each other on top of a ladder, only to be knocked off by an opportunistic Jack Swagger. Zack Ryder then took Swagger out with a Ruff Ryder off of a Ladder, leaving the door open for Daniel Bryan to climb the ladder and retrieve the briefcase to win.
*Nikki Bella d. Brie Bella by Pinfall to Win the Divas Title After winning the Divas Title at Over the Limit at the expense of her sister, Brie and Nikki Bella's longtime alliance fractured as the two fought over the title. In a relatively short title match, Nikki was able to reverse a DDT attempt into a swinging neckbreaker that she then followed up with a Handspring Splash to pick up the win and take the Divas Title.
*Mark Henry d. Kane by Pinfall Since launching into his "Hall of Pain" gimmick, Mark Henry had made a habit of trying to hurt people and put them on the shelf. He had done this to The Big Show in early June, and no targeted The Big Red Machine Kane in an effort to prove himself the best big man on the roster. Kane was surprisingly no match for the World's Strongest Man, who pinned Kane after a World's Strongest Slam. After the match, Henry performed a Vader Bomb in the corner onto the prone leg of Kane, seemingly breaking it and writing him off TV for the time being.
*Christian & Randy Orton Wrestled to a No Contest in a Last Man Standing Match [Christian Retains the World Heavyweight Championship] After conning his way into the World Heavyweight Title the month previous, Christian's string of luck ran out against Randy Orton (or more specifically, his favorability with John Laurinitis), as Captain Charisma was forced to defend the title against Randy Orton again, this time in a Last Man Standing match. The match turned into a bloody battle that ended again with no clear winner, as Orton hit an RKO to Christian off the elevated stage through a table at the entryway, with neither man able to answer a Ten Count, resulting in a Draw and Christian retaining the title.
*Tyson Kidd w/Natalya d. Kofi Kingston by Pinfall After losing to Daniel Bryan the previous month in a Money in the Bank qualifier, the sour Tyson Kidd had set about trying to ruin someone else's chances at the briefcase, settling on Kofi Kingston. Kingston attempted to get revenge in this standard singles match, but Kidd was able to win following a distraction from Natalya.
*Alberto del Rio d. Sheamus, The Miz, R-Truth, Kevin Nash, Rey Mysterio, Dolph Ziggler & Wade Barrett in a Money in the Bank Ladder Match The controversy over the WWE Championship match made the second Money in the Bank ladder match far more intriguing, especially if CM Punk carried through on his threat to leave with the WWE Championship in toe. The majority of individuals went after Kevin Nash first, as the biggest man in the match. He was thus taken out by a combination of Sheamus and Wade Barrett, and seemingly carted out of the match with an injured knee. Miz and R-Truth formed an unlikely alliance briefly against Rey Mysterio, though it quickly fractured. In the end, Mysterio was close to winning the briefcase, only to be taken out by a returning Kevin Nash, who Pomerbombed him off the ladder only for Nash to get a Bullhammer Elbow from Barrett. This left the door open for Alberto del Rio to scurry up the ladder and grab the briefcase, winning the title shot.
*CM Punk d. John Cena by Pinfall to Win the WWE Championship After defeating The Miz the night after Capitol Punishment, CM Punk announced that his contract expired on the day of Money in the Bank, and that he would win the WWE Title and take it with him away from WWE on that date. This led to the infamous Pipe Bomb Promo in which Punk, among other things, said that the company would be better off if Vince McMahon died, save for the fact that it would be "taken over by his idiot daughter and his doofus son-in-law." Punk's comments led to his suspension by John Laurinitis and Vince McMahon, only for WWE Champion John Cena to intercede and get his reinstated, with the threat that Cena would be fired if he lost to Punk at the Pay Per View. With a rabidly partisan Chicago crowd behind him, Punk fought tooth and nail against Cena, who was equally matched against the self-proclaimed Best in the World. At one point, Laurinitis and McMahon made their way to ringside, with McMahon instructing Laurinitis to end the match via screwjob when Punk was locked in the STF. Cena broke the hold and punched out the GM, telling McMahon not to go that route. However Cena then walked into a Go 2 Sleep and was pinned, giving the title to Punk. CM Punk then escaped through the crowd (avoiding an attempted cash-in by newly minted Money in the Bank briefcase holder Alberto del Rio) and did as he promised, taking the WWE Title with him as the show ended.
Off-Camera Title Changes: July 25: Christian Stripped of the World Heavyweight Title by new COO Triple H, who announces a Summerslam Tournament to Crown a New Champion.

WWE Summerslam August 14, 2011 Staples Center Los Angeles, CA
-Storyline Interlude: The night after Money in the bank, at which CM Punk had won and absconded with the WWE Championship, John Cena was set to be fired by Mr. McMahon and WWE General Manager John Laurinitis. However, this was interrupted by Triple H, acting in his position as Vince's son-in-law, who had a message from the board of directors of WWE's corporate parents. The board had ordered Vince to step down from day to day operations of WWE, and had placed Laurinitis on "probation" for an indeterminate amount of time, appointing Triple H as the new Chief Operations Officer to oversee the company. The following week, Triple H announced that, while contract negotiations with Punk would continue in absentia, the World Heavyweight Championship would also be focused on as a centerpiece title of the company. Due to the controversy in an Orton/Christian rematch on Smackdown, the title was being vacated, and a 12 man tournament would be held at Summerslam to crown a new champion. Orton, Christian, Cena and Money in the Bank winner Alberto del Rio were each granted byes into the quarterfinals, while 8 other men would qualify for the tournament.-
*Kevin Nash d. Cody Rhodes by Pinfall in a 1st Round World Heavyweight Championship Match The first tournament match saw former United States champion Kevin Nash take on current Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes. The formerly dashing one was clearly underestimating Nash, focusing on his oft-injured knees and taking it as a foregone conclusion he would win. However, Nash was able to outsmart Rhodes, after Cody undid a top turnbuckle pad behind the referee's back. Nash reversed an Irish whip into that turnbuckle, knocking out Rhodes and following up with a big boot and a Jackknife for the win.
*Mark Henry d. Kofi Kingston by Pinfall in a 1st Round World Heavyweight Championship Match The World's Strongest Man had been on a dominant tear since feigning his retirement in the spring, and that continued in this first round match. Kofi Kingston was no match for Mark Henry, who put away the former IC Champion with the World's Strongest Slam with little difficulty.
*Sheamus d. Dolph Ziggler by Pinfall in a 1st Round World Heavyweight Championship Match The United States Champion Sheamus had slowly adopted more of a heelish persona in recent months, but was still considered something of a fan favorite against Dolph Ziggler for this match. Both men had opportunities to win, and it seemed as if Ziggler pulled off the upset after hitting a Superkick and pinning Sheamus, only for the Celtic Warrior's foot to be on the ropes, breaking up the pinfall. Ziggler celebrated prematurely while Sheamus recovered, and when Ziggler went back to the Irishman, Sheamus hit a Brogue Kick for the sudden pinfall victory.
*Daniel Bryan d. Jack Swagger by Pinfall in a 1st Round World Heavyweight Championship Match The final match of the first round saw Daniel Bryan take on The All-American Jack Swagger. Despite the fact that he had won the Money in the Bank briefcase for the World Title the month prior (and thus could, theoretically, challenge for the vacant title at any time), Bryan vowed to be a fighting champion and win the tournament. Though Swagger damaged Bryan's ankle early on and nearly got a submission with the Ankle Lock, Bryan was able to reverse the move into a leg submission of his own, hooking Swagger in the rarely used Cattle Mutilation (rechristened the Kiniski Clutch) for the victory.
*Randy Orton d. Christian by Pinfall in a Quarterfinal World Heavyweight Championship Match The first quarterfinal match featured two of the men who were given byes through the first round of the tournament in Randy Orton and Christian. The two former World Heavyweight Champions had engaged in a vicious war for the title throughout the summer, and it was the indecisive conclusions to their Last Man Standing match at Money in the Bank and their rematch on Smackdown that led to the title being vacant in the first place. In this match, Christian was unable to get the pinfall after hitting a Killswitch, leaving him frustrated. He Climbed to the top rope as if to hit a reverse DDT off of it, but Orton countered with an RKO out of nowhere for the close victory to advance.
*Mark Henry & Kevin Nash Wrestled to a Double Countout in a Quarterfinal World Heavyweight Championship Match The World's Strongest Man and the self-professed "World's Sexiest Giant" Kevin Nash had a brawl that spilled to the outside of the ring. Both men battled it out and continued to brawl up the rampway, with the match ending in a double countout, resulting in both men being exited from the tournament, and giving Orton a bye into the finals.
*Sheamus d. Daniel Bryan by Pinfall in a Quarterfinal World Heavyweight Championship Match Two former United States Champions squared off in the third quarterfinal match, with both men having been through difficult qualifiers in the first round. Sheamus had to counter Bryan's more technical style, and struggled at times to deal with the grappler. However Bryan attempted a diving headbutt off the top rope at one point, missing and seemingly knocking himself out. A dazed Bryan then walked into a White Noise slam from Sheamus who followed it up with a Brogue Kick for the victory.
*John Cena d. Alberto del Rio by Pinfall in a Quarterfinal World Heavyweight Championship Match The second of the matches of automatic qualifiers, Alberto del Rio was decrying the fact that his Money in the Bank briefcase was "virtually worthless" given the fact that CM Punk had left the WWE. However, del Rio's troubles didn't end their against John Cena, as the former WWE Champion was able to power out of del Rio's attempt at a Cross Arm Breaker and hit him with an Attitude Adjustment for the win. After the match, del Rio was interviewed backstage, where he vowed he would become a world champion somehow, someway.
*Zack Ryder d. Ted DiBiase Jr. by Pinfall for the Internet & Million Dollar Championships Following his failure to win the Million Dollar Championship from Ted DiBiase Jr, Zack Ryder had begun bringing his own title belt to the ring called the "Internet Championship" as a parody of DiBiase's own belt. Their feud continued when DiBiase stole the Internet Title Belt and promised to blow it up on national television, only for Ryder to stop him from doing so. New COO Triple H ordered a "title unification match" for both belts at Summerslam to end the feud. Despite DiBiase's best efforts, Ryder was able to hit the Ruff Ryder on the Million Dollar Scion to win the match and claim both "championships."
*John Cena d. Sheamus by Submission in a Semifinal World Heavyweight Championship Match With Randy Orton receiving a bye into the final round due to the Mark Henry/Kevin Nash match ending in a double countout, John Cena and Sheamus were the only two to have to contend with a semifinal match. Sheamus came out strong despite having wrestled in two matches already, overpowering the former champion and laying into him with a brawling style. Before long, Sheamus hit a Brogue Kick and got a near fall. Cena made his comeback though and hit an Attitude Adjustment of his own, and still only got a two count. After several more back and forth moments, Cena hit an Avalanche AA followed by locking in the STF for a submission to get the victory and advance to the finals.
*Richie Steamboat d. Curtis Axel by Pinfall to Win the NXT Championship Throughout the year Curtis Axel and Richie Steamboat had competed against each other for the NXT title, with the championship trading hands between the two second generation stars a couple of times. Steamboat managed to get the better of his rival on this occasion, reversing a cross body block off the top rope into a pinning combination to regain the NXT title.
*The Usos [Jimmy & Jey Uso] w/Rikishi d. The British Invasion [Wade Barrett & Drew McIntyre] by Pinfall to Win the WWE World Tag Team Titles Since their debut the previous year, Jimmy and Jey Uso had been major players on the tag team division of WWE, however they had always come up short when competing for the World Tag Team Titles. This was pointed out by the team of Barrett and McIntyre, who also attacked the Usos father Rikishi in the build for the match. With Rikishi by their side, the Usos were extra motivated to win the titles at Summerslam, and Jimmy and Jey hit double superkicks on both McIntyre and Barrett before finishing them off with stereo Uso splashes to win their first tag team championship.
*John Cena d. Randy Orton by Pinfall to Win the Vacant World Heavyweight Championship The finals of the World Title Tournament saw eternal rivals John Cena and Randy Orton square off once again. Cena was at the disadvantage, having wrestled two matches in the night as opposed to Orton having only wrestled one, and Orton tried to press his advantage early by hitting an RKO out of nowhere right off the bat, only for Cena to kick out at one. Cena then hit an AA on Orton, who also kicked out at one. The two men had a back and forth match at that point, with Orton gaining a slight advantage over Cena. Alberto del Rio came to ringside at one point as Cena tried a comeback, but was quickly chased away by the COO at ringside to allow Orton and Cena to continue uninterrupted. In the end, Orton went for a Second RKO but was countered into an AA. Cena then floated over and hit a second AA for good measure to pick up the win and become World Heavyweight Champion to close the show.

WWE Night of Champions September 18, 2011 First Niagara Center Buffalo, NY
*Rey Mysterio d. Alberto del Rio by Pinfall to Win the WWE Championship The night before at a Pay Per View event for the promotion Ring of Honor, WWE Champion CM Punk was making an appearance "to visit some friends." Prior to the show, WWE COO Triple H had announced that he would be appearing to conduct contract negotiations with the wayward champion. Instead, Punk was blindsided by Money in the Bank winner Alberto del Rio, who had a referee in tow and won a dubious "match" to retake the WWE Title and bring it back into the fold. Triple H claimed to have no knowledge of the plot, but allowed the title change to stand. As a result though, del Rio would have to defend the title against Rey Mysterio in a previously scheduled match. This would prove to be the Mexican Aristocrat's undoing, as Mysterio upset del Rio and hit him with a Frogsplash after the 619 to become the new WWE Champion unexpectedly.
*Richie Steamboat, Seth Rollins & Xavier Woods d. Intelligencia [Roman Reigns, Damien Sandow & Brad Maddox] by Pinfall in a Six Man Tag In a special showcase match for NXT (which was moving from its old ECW timeslot to a new streaming deal on Hulu at this time), NXT Champion Richie Steamboat teamed with Seth Rollins and Xavier Woods to take on the "corporate" stable of Intelligencia, led by Roman Reigns and the NXT Tag Champions of Sandow and Maddox. After a quick back and forth match, Rollins picked up the win by pinning Maddox after a superkick followed by a Shining Wizard.
*The Usos [Jimmy & Jey Uso] d. The Awesome Truth [The Miz & R-Truth] by Disqualification to retain the WWE World Tag Team Titles The Miz and R-Truth (the latter of whom having turned heel earlier in the year) had formed a tentative alliance over their perceived slights by the upper echelons of WWE. Calling themselves the "Awesome Truth", they began challenging tag teams to establish themselves as the preeminent team in the company. This naturally brought them into conflict with the newly crowned tag champions The Usos. Miz and Truth worked as a tandem to isolate Jimmy for much of the match, with Miz even hitting the Skull Crushing Finale for a near 2 count. Jimmy made a comeback and managed a hot tag to Jey, allowing the Usos to take control over R-Truth, but before they could finish him off, Miz grabbed the tag title belt and decked both Usos with it, earning a disqualification, but allowing the heels to stand tall.
*Tamina Snuka w/Vickie Guerrero d. Nikki Bella by Pinfall to Win the Divas Title Vickie Guerrero had been named "special commissioner" for the Divas Division by WWE COO Triple H, leading to her idea that she wanted a specific woman to be Divas Champion. The woman she chose was Tamina Snuka, as Guerrero granted her a title shot at Night of Champions. Nikki Bella faired surprisingly well against Tamina, but the second generation star was too much to overcome, and she pinned Nikki after a big splash to win the Divas title.
*Daniel Bryan d. Sheamus in a 2 out of 3 Falls Match to Retain the WWE United States Title The night after Summerslam saw Daniel Bryan defeat Sheamus to become the new United States champion. The feud between the two stars culminated in a 2 out of 3 Falls match at Night of Champions with said title on the line. Sheamus managed to get the first fall inside of 30 seconds when he hit a Brogue Kick right away, leaving Bryan behind the proverbial 8-ball. Bryan was able to even the score after hitting a Running Knee out of nowhere, and then finished off the Irishman by locking him in the LeBell Lock for the victory.
*John Morrison d. Ted DiBiase Jr, Zack Ryder, Tyson Kidd, Evan Bourne, Justin Gabriel, Heath Slater, Kofi Kingston, Dolph Ziggler, Jack Swagger, Wade Barrett, Drew McIntyre & Sin Cara to Win the "Cody Rhodes Invitational" Battle Royal Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes had determined that there were no adequate contenders for his championship at Night of Champions, so he organized the first ever "Cody Rhodes Invitational" battle royal with 12 individuals. The final three came down to Zack Ryder, Dolph Ziggler and John Morrison. Ziggler eliminated Ryder, much to the chagrin of the crowd, but as Ziggler was showboating and disregarding the crowd's reaction, he himself was dumped out by Morrison who won the match.
*Cody Rhodes d. John Morrison by Pinfall to Retain the Intercontinental Title However, the formerly Dashing Intercontinental Champion was quick to jump into the ring to start a title defense against the weakened Morrison, pinning him after just a couple minutes with a Cross Rhodes to retain his title in somewhat dubious fashion.
*Mark Henry d. John Cena, Randy Orton & Christian by Pinfall to Win the World Heavyweight Championship The original purpose of the Rey Mysterio/Alberto del Rio match to open the show was to determine the 4th participant in this Fatal Fourway match for the World Heavyweight Title. After del Rio won the WWE championship the night before, Triple H announced on the preshow that since that match with Mysterio would now be for the WWE Title, Mark Henry was being inserted into the Fatal Fourway match instead. The World's Strongest Man made the most of his opportunity, taking advantage of the ongoing feud between Orton and Christian and focusing solely on Cena, eventually hitting the champion with the World's Strongest Slam and pinning him while Orton and Christian were otherwise preoccupied to win the World Title to close out the show.

Note: I am flipping WWE Vengeance and Hell in a Cell around for storyline reasons, setting up a couple matches at the end of the month.WWE Vengeance October 2, 2011 New Orleans Arena New Orleans, LA
*Alberto del Rio d. John Cena by Disqualification Former WWE Champions Alberto del Rio and John Cena faced each other in the opening match in order to determine who would challenge Rey Mysterio for the WWE Championship in the main event of Vengeance. Both men had a back and forth match up that it looked like Cena was getting the upper hand in. However, before he could finish off del Rio, a masked man came out of the crowd and attacked the Mexican Aristocrat, causing del Rio to win the match by disqualification and advance to the main event.
*John Morrison d. Cody Rhodes by Disqualification [Rhodes Retains the IC Title] After being hornswoggled out of his title shot at Night of Champions, WWE COO Triple H granted John Morrison a followup match against Cody Rhodes for the Intercontinental Title. Without having wrestled a battle royal in advance, Morrison fared much better against the champion, so much so that he nearly won the title outright. However Rhodes kicked Morrison below the belt in front of the referee, earning the DQ loss but keeping his title.
*The Awesome Truth [The Miz & R-Truth] d. The Usos [Jimmy & Jey Uso] in a Tornado Tag Match to Win the WWE World Tag Team Titles The tandem of The Miz and R-Truth got another crack at the WWE World Tag Team Champions The Usos, after they had beaten down the brothers the previous month at Night of Champions. This time the match was contested under Tornado rules, which meant that all four men would be in the ring at the same time. In this environment, the Usos teamwork thrived, taking out The Miz early on and double teaming R-Truth. However Miz used the rules to his advantage, hitting Jimmy with a tag title belt behind the referee's back and then taking the time to double team Jey. Eventually, Miz hit the Skull Crushing Finale on the injured Jimmy while R-Truth hit the Truthseeker on Jey to pick up the win and the tag titles.
*Sin Cara & The Aerial Aces [Evan Bourne & Justin Gabriel] d. Christian & The British Invasion [Wade Barrett & Drew McIntyre] by Pinfall This match was initially a tag team match between The Aerial Aces and The British Invasion that was turned into a six man tag by Triple H on the go home episode of Smackdown, due to the short term issue between Christian and Sin Cara. In a standard match it looked as if McIntyre and Barrett would score the victory, but Barrett inadvertantly hit his partner with the Bullhammer elbow, knocking him out. Evan Bourne then pinned McIntyre with the Shooting Star Press for the win.
*Tamina Snuka w/Vicki Guerrero d. Beth Phoenix by Countout to Retain the Divas Title Vickie Guerrero's personally selected Divas Champion quickly found herself in a feud with one of the Dominant Divas in the company in the form of Beth Phoenix. The Glamazon immediately went after Vickie Guerrero on an episode of Smackdown, only to be taken out by Tamina, leading to this match. The two powerhouses squared off with one another, evenly matched, but the matchup wouldn't last for very long, as Phoenix injured her knee on the outside, resulting in the match ending in a countout. Tamina wouldn't let up, however, smashing her knee into the ring post afterwards to inflict further damage.
*Dolph Ziggler d. Daniel Bryan by Pinfall to Win the United States Title Dolph Ziggler had resolved to regain singles gold after undergoing a bit of a losing streak, and set his sights on the United States title held by Daniel Bryan. Ziggler received the blessing of WWE probationary GM John Laurinitis, who although he was stripped of most of his powers, did grant Ziggler a match at Vengeance. Ziggler made the most of his opportunity, nearly winning with a Fameasser after a good back and forth match. Just as Bryan was making his comeback though, Laurinitis appeared at ringside and seemingly distracted the referee, allowing Ziggler to hit a low blow on Bryan and then hit the Zig Zag for the win.
*Mark Henry d. Randy Orton by Pinfall to Retain the World Heavyweight Championship Randy Orton won a Battle Royal on an episode of Raw to crown himself as the new number one contender for the World Heavyweight Championship, taking on The World's Strongest Man in the process. Henry controlled the match for much of the time, as his strength was nearly impossible to overcome. Orton's technical application helped him though, as he was able to outrun Henry and attempt an RKO on the champion. Henry however countered, tossing Orton off, though into the referee. In the intermediary, Orton did hit the RKO, only for their to be no ref for the count. As Orton tried to revive the official, he was attacked by his long standing rival Christian, who drilled him with the world title belt and then hit the Killswitch onto the title, knocking him out. Henry came too and hit a Big Splash for added effect, as the revived referee made the count and gave the World's Strongest Man the win.
*Alberto del Rio d. Rey Mysterio by Submission to Win the WWE Championship Alberto del Rio came back a second time in the night and challenged Rey Mysterio for the WWE Championship in a return match for the title. The two old rivals were evenly matched, much as they had been the previous month, with del Rio working over Mysterio's arm in an attempt to set him up for the Cross Armbreaker. Mysterio was able to survive the submission hold, though, regaining his momentum and seemingly heading to a title victory. However as Ricardo Rodriguez distracted the referee, the black mask clad man returned and clipped Mysterio in the knee before tossing him back in the ring. del Rio took advantage and locked in a Figure-4 leglock, which forced Rey to tap, giving Del Rio the title once again. After the match, the masked figure came in the ring and looked directly at del Rio, before removing his mask to reveal CM Punk. The erstwhile former champion pointed at the WWE title before high tailing it through the crowd as security rushed the ring to close the show.

WWE Hell in a Cell October 23, 2011 AT&T Center San Antonio, TX
*Randy Orton d. Christian in a Hell in a Cell Match The months long feud between Randy Orton and Christian finally came to an end inside the dreaded Hell in a Cell structure. Although the World Title wasn't on the line this time, neither man was willing to give an inch in this long running feud. Both men were busted open at various points, Orton after being driven head first into a steel ring post and Christian after Orton grated his face across the cell wall repeatedly. The end came when Orton hit an RKO off the top rope to Christian onto the steel steps in the ring, knocking him out and picking up the hard fought win.
*Dolph Ziggler d. Sin Cara to Retain the United States Championship With Dolph Ziggler having become the United States Champion with the "approval" of Probationary General Manager John Laurinitis, his first challenge was one of the stars brought in under the tutelage of Triple H, namely the luchadore Sin Cara. The high flyer at first ran circles around the Show Off, but a timely missed plancha allowed Ziggler to take control, working over the injured knee of the high flyer and eventually pinning Sin Cara after a Fameasser to retain the title.
*Mark Henry d. Daniel Bryan by 'Submission' to Retain the World Heavyweight Championship Despite losing the US Title, Daniel Bryan earned a shot at World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry in a battle royal on Smackdown (much to the chagrin of John Laurinitis). Bryan outwrestled Henry in the early going, trying to take out his knee and get him down on the mat, while the World Champion used his power to flatten the Money in the Bank winner at times. Bryan looked to be making a comeback when Henry caught him after a crossbody, applying a bearhug. It was at that point that John Laurinitis immediately called for the bell, despite the fact that Bryan didn't submit, and awarded the match to the champion. When Bryan confronted Laurinitis about this, he was attacked from behind by the champion, who attempted to break his leg the same way he had done to Kane and Big Show earlier in the year. However, Big Show made his return and chased off both Laurinitis and Henry, saving Bryan from a similar fate.
*Sheamus d. The Undertaker by Pinfall In the weeks leading up to Hell in a Cell, vignettes aired advertising the return of The Undertaker, who hadn't been seen since his End of an Era Hell in a Cell match at Wrestlemania XXVII. His first opponent on this return tour would be the Irishman Sheamus, who welcomed the challenge. To the surprise of everyone, Sheamus was more than a match for the Phenom, as he easily outwrestled the Deadman and had a counter for most of The Undertaker's signature offense. The Undertaker made a short lived comeback, signaling for a Tombstone, but Sheamus was able to fight out of the move and hit a Brogue Kick out of nowhere for the shocking clean win against the Undertaker.
*Beth Phoenix d. Tamina Snuka w/Vickie Guerrero in a Lumberjill Match to Win the Divas Title After their previous match ended in a countout victory for the Divas Champion, Vickie Guerrero had ruled that Beth Phoenix would never receive another shot at the WWE Divas Title as long as she was employed. However she was quickly overruled by the COO of the company in Triple H, who not only ruled that Phoenix would get another title shot at Hell in a Cell, but that it would be a Lumberjill match to prevent a countout again. The match was a similar back and forth to the match they had earlier at Vengeance, but this time Phoenix got the better of Tamina, hitting her with the Glam Slam and picking up the win and the Divas Championship.
*Cody Rhodes d. John Morrison in a No Disqualification Match to Retain the Intercontinental Title After two months of dodging John Morrison through underhanded means, Cody Rhodes was forced to face the former WWE Champion in a No Disqualification match, leaving his lengthy title reign vulnerable. Morrison took control early on, not letting Rhodes really catch his breath early on and nearly winning the title after hitting a Moonlight Drive. Rhodes eventually took advantage of the No Disqualification stipulation, utilizing the ring bell to knock out Morrison to gain the upper hand. Despite Morrison making a comeback, Rhodes was able to roll out of the way when the Prince of Parkour attempted Starship Pain, following it up with the Cross Rhodes for the victory.
*Alberto del Rio d. Rey Mysterio & John Cena by Pinfall to Retain the WWE Championship CM Punk had returned at Vengeance in order to ensure that Alberto del Rio was WWE Champion, so that Punk could be the one to take the title from him after the Mexican Aristocrat had crashed the ROH event in September, cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase to do so. With the Straight Edge Superstar otherwise preoccupied with Triple H, del Rio was forced to defend the WWE Title against both Rey Mysterio and John Cena, looking to prove that he deserved to be champion. Alberto held his own in the match, but still took advantage of the triple threat rules in order to achieve victory, as well as a timely distraction. After Cena hit Mysterio with an Attitude Adjustment, he was taken out by The Miz and R-Truth, whom he had been engaged in a war of words with for several weeks leading into Hell in a Cell. This gave del Rio the opportunity to sneak in and steal the pinfall, picking up the win and title retention.
*CM Punk d. Triple H by Submission in a Hell in a Cell Match After CM Punk returned at Vengeance, he came back the following night on Raw (despite the protests of Probatinoary General Manager John Laurinitis, who attempted to "fire" Punk again) to reveal that Triple H's ongoing contract negotiations had born fruit, and that Punk had resigned with the company. The COO also revealed that night that Punk's "guaranteed title match" at Survivor Series came with a caveat, that Punk would have to face Triple H inside a Hell in a Cell match at that event. Entering into the equation, per the "invitation" of Laurinitis was Triple H's longtime friend Kevin Nash, who took umbridge at the fact that Punk was "disrespecting the business and the veterans in it." Nash would play a role in their Hell in a Cell match, as Punk and Triple H couldn't contain their match inside the Cell, busting through the side at one point near the end. At that moment, Nash attacked Punk, powerbombing him through the announce table at ringside. Triple H tried to dismiss Big Sexy, but Nash refused to leave, telling Hunter to pin the "vanilla midget." This led to a fight between Nash and Triple H as Punk slowly recovered. Triple H hit Nash with a Pedigree, but then turned around at Punk with his own signature sledge hammer, drilling Triple H in the gut with it. Punk then locked in the Anaconda Vise on Triple H, which caused The Game to tap out, giving Punk the victory.

WWE Survivor Series November 20, 2011 Madison Square Garden New York City, NY
*Zack Ryder d. Dolph Ziggler by Disqualification [Ziggler Retains the United States Title] Survivor Series opened up with the fan favorite Zack Ryder challenging John Laurinitis' personal handpicked champion Dolph Ziggler for the United States title. Ryder had continued to be elevated by the groundswell of support over several months, much to the chagrin of Laurinitis who viewed Ryder as a "goofball". Ziggler was overwhelmed in the early going, as Ryder seemingly had full advantage, hitting a Broski Boot for a near two count. Ziggler managed to sneak a pair of Brass Knuckles onto his hands and deliver a KO punch to Ryder behind the referee's back, but only got a two count. Ryder came back and his the Ruff Ryder on Ziggler, getting the pinfall and initially winning the title. However, Probationary General Manager John Laurinitis came out and informed the official of Ziggler's use of the brass knuckles, ordering the official to reverse the decision, awarding the match to Ryder as a result of a disqualification, but keeping the title on the Show Off.
*Beth Phoenix, Brie Bella, Eve Torres, AJ Lee & Maria Menounos d. Tamina Snuka, Nikki Bella, Alicia Fox, Naomi & Vickie Guerrero in a Survivor Series Match Special Divas General Manager Vickie Guerrero had engaged in a war of words with entertainment correspondent and lifelong WWE fan Maria Menounos on twitter and then later on an episode of Smackdown. This became encompassed in the larger feud between Vickie and certain divas on the roster, leading to this Survivor Series Match. *AJ Lee d. Naomi by Submission *Alicia Fox d. Eve Torres by Pinfall *Nikki Bella d. Brie Bella by Pinfall *Beth Phoenix d. Alicia Fox by Pinfall *AJ Lee d. Nikki Bella by Submission *Beth Phoenix d. Tamina Snuka by Pinfall *Maria Menounos d. Vickie Guerrero by Pinfall Survivors: Beth Phoenix, AJ Lee & Maria Menounos
*Daniel Bryan d. Christian by Submission to Retain the Money in the Bank Contract In another example of Probationary General Manager John Larunitis attempting to "show his mettle" during a job performance review, he ordered Daniel Bryan to defend his Money in the Bank contract against Christian after Captain Charisma had cheated to win a match against Bryan on Smackdown. It looked as if Christian would cheat his way to a victory against the American Dragon, hitting a low blow behind the ref's back and rolling Bryan up for a near three count. However Bryan eventually reversed a Killswitch attempt into the LeBell Lock, hooking Christian in the center of the ring and picking up the submission victory.
*The Big Show & Mark Henry Wrestled to a Double Countout [Henry Retains the World Heavyweight Title] Earlier in the year, The Big Show had become one of the first victims of Mark Henry's "Hall of Pain" run, as Henry kayfabe broke the Giant's ankle on an episode of Smackdown by delivering a Vader bomb onto the limb with a steel chair wrapped around it. The previous month The Big Show had returned to save Daniel Bryan from a similar fate, leading to the Giant challenging the World's Strongest Man for the World Heavyweight Championship. In a back and forth hoss fight, the two rivals allowed their match to spill to the outside, where an exhausted Henry amazed everyone by lifting up the 500 pounder and delivering a World's Stongest Slam through the announce table. This left both men prone to be counted out simultaneously, ending the match in a No Contest.
*Kevin Nash, Sheamus, Wade Barrett, Cody Rhodes, Hunico & Camacho d. Triple H, The Undertaker, Randy Orton, John Morrison & The Aerial Aces in a Survivor Series Match Since taking the reigns as WWE COO back in July, Triple H had an uneasy coexistence with General Manager John Laurinitis, who was placed on probation by the WWE board of directors at the same time that Vince McMahon was cashiered from the day to day operations of the company. In October, this probationary period came to an end, and Laurinitis was given one last chance to regain full power, picking a Survivor Series team to lead against one captained by Triple H with his job on the line. *Evan Bourne d. Hunico by Pinfall *Wade Barrett d. Evan Bourne by Pinfall *John Morrison d. Camacho by Pinfall *Wade Barrett d. John Morrison by Pinfall *Randy Orton d. Wade Barrett by Pinfall *Sheamus d. The Undertaker by Pinfall *Kevin Nash & Triple H Were Both Counted Out *Sheamus d. Justin Gabriel by Pinfall *Cody Rhodes d. Randy Orton by Pinfall Sole Survivors: Sheamus & Cody Rhodes
*CM Punk d. Alberto del Rio by Submission to Win the WWE Championship Courtesy of his victory over Triple H at Hell in a Cell, the newly resigned CM Punk was granted his rematch for the WWE Championship against Alberto del Rio. After a back and forth submission style match in which Ricardo Rodriguez nearly cost Punk the match, as the distraction allowed del Rio to lock in the Cross Armbreaker, Punk was able to fight back and reverse a second attempt at the Cross Armbreaker into the Anaconda Vise to get the tap out win and regain the WWE Championship to the delight of the crowd.
*John Cena & The Rock d. The Awesome Truth [The Miz & R-Truth] by Pinfall to Win the WWE World Tag Team Titles Following his interference in the triple threat WWE Title match earlier in the year at Wrestlemania, John Cena had challenged The Rock to a match at the following year's Wrestlemania in Rock's hometown of Miami. The challenge had largely gone unanswered, but the two men had sniped at each other on social media over the course of the year. The night after Hell in a Cell, Cena was beaten down by The Awesome Truth (acting on behalf of John Laurinitis, who felt Cena needed to be "knocked down a peg"), leading to Cena challenging the duo to a tag title match. Cena then did an about face and began campaigning for The Rock to be his tag partner, which The Rock eventually accepted, agreeing to set aside any differences he had with Cena for his first official match in a good number of years. To the surprise of many people, The Rock appeared genuine in his desire to win the tag titles with Cena, and despite underhanded tactics from The Miz and R-Truth, The Rock eventually hit Miz with a Rock Bottom and the People's Elbow to pull out the victory and win the championships. After the match though, as they were celebrating, it appeared that The Rock was preparing to turn on Cena and hit a Rock Bottom on Big Match John. Cena however had it scouted and countered with an AA, dropping the tag title belt on the fallen Rock and delivering his You Can't See Me taunt to the Great One to close the show.
Off-Camera Title Changes: November 21: Due to the Breakup of the Cena/Rock pairing, Triple H vacates the World Tag Team Titles December 13: Audrey Marie d. Naomi to Win the NXT Women's Title
