NXT Arrival: Windy City June 15, 2013 UIC Pavilion Chicago, IL
*The Ascension [Konnor & Viktor] d. Angelo Dawkins & Xavier Woods by Pinfall to Retain the NXT World Tag Team Titles The duo of Konnor and Viktor had won a tournament to crown new NXT Tag Team Champions in the weeks prior, leading to this rematch at the Arrival special. Much like their title match victory had been, the champions retained by hitting Dawkins with their finisher, the Fall of Man.
*Tyson Kidd d. Adrian Neville & CJ Parker by Pinfall to Win a Shot at the NXT Championship Three of the best workers in NXT competed for a future shot at the NXT Championship. Adrian Neville appeared to have the match won when he hit Parker with the Red Arrow finisher, but Kidd tossed the high flyer out of the ring and quickly pinned Parker himself, stealing the win and becoming #1 contender.
*Sami Zayn d. Drew McIntyre by Pinfall Sami Zayn had been undefeated in NXT since his debut back in March, and continued that streak against former NXT Champion Drew McIntyre, as he dodged a Claymore Kick from the Scotsman and then finished him off with a Blue Thunder Bomb for the victory.
*Paige & Becky Lynch d. Charlotte Flair & Sasha Banks by Pinfall The feud between Paige and Charlotte Flair had continued in recent weeks, leading to this tag match where if Charlotte and Banks won, they each receive a title shot at the champion. However this match proved to be a showcase more for the Irish Lass Kicker, Becky Lynch, as she pinned Banks following a Uranage Slam. Lynch then eyed Paige's title herself as the two celebrated.
*Noah Kassidy d. Corey Graves by Submission to Retain the NXT North American Championship In a standard title defense, Noah Kassidy continued the run of dominance for the Wyatt Family as he got Corey Graves to tap out to the Kassidy Clutch to retain the North American Title.
*Bo Dallas d. Bray Wyatt by Pinfall to Retain the NXT Championship The character of Bray Wyatt had emerged from the mind of the man formerly known as Husky Harris after his singles career had paled in comparison to that of his brother, Bo Dallas. Wyatt had become a dominant force in NXT and was trying to take over the brand, by exercising his brother from the company as well (especially after Dallas refused to join his "cult"). Wyatt and Dallas had a highly competitive match, far more than the usual Bray Wyatt match, and Bray nearly got the win after locking Dallas in a Mandible Claw. Bo however was able to escape the ropes and force the rope break. The match ended when Noah Kassidy attempted to get involved and accidentally hit Wyatt with the North American title belt. This allowed Bo to hit a Bulldog followed by a knee drop from the top rope to pick up the win and retain his title.

WWE Payback June 16, 2013 Allstate Arena Chicago, IL
*The Shield [Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns] d. Team Hell No [Kane & Daniel Bryan] & Big E Langston by Pinfall Following their victories over Team Hell No and Big E Langston respectively, The Shield faced all three men again in a six man tag match. Despite Daniel Bryan's best efforts, The Shield continued their run of dominance as a unit, swarming over the opponents and eventually putting Kane out of the match by hitting a triple power bomb on the outside, turning the match into a handicap affair. The Shield eventually got the win after Ambrose hit Langston with the Paradigm Shift to pick up the win.
*Sheamus d. Wade Barrett by Pinfall in a Falls Count Anywhere Match Sheamus and Wade Barrett had each had a pair of matches on Raw and Smackdown that ended in double countout both times. This led to the two Brits having a Falls Count Anywhere match that was guaranteed to have a winner. The two men battled throughout the night, leaving the Allstate Arena at one point and continuing to fight each other. Eventually they ended up in an Irish Pub where Sheamus powerbombed Barrett through a pool table, eventually picking up the win and having a Pint afterwards.
*The Miz d. Alberto del Rio by Pinfall The Mexican Aristocrat had appeared on Miz TV on an episode of Raw and had been ridiculed by the self-professed A-Lister, leading to del Rio challenging Miz to a standard match at Payback. In the build, Ricardo Rodriguez returned to the WWE, having been injured for a number of months, and his return as del Rio's personal ring announcer seemed to energize Alberto during the Payback match. However, at one point the referee was accidentally knocked out by an errant dropkick from del Rio. Alberto locked Miz in the Cross Arm breaker and got the visible tap out, only for the ref to still be down. As the referee was tended to by del Rio, Miz snuck out of the ring and grabbed a steel chair and snuck back in to hit del Rio. Rodriguez dived in and stole the chair from Miz to save his employer, only to turn around and nail del Rio in the gut with the chair himself, before following up with a shot to the back. Rodriguez then walked to the back in disgust as Miz hit a Skull Crushing Finale for good measure to pick up the victory.
*The Usos [Jimmy & Jey Uso] d. The Rhodes Scholars [Cody Rhodes & Damien Sandow] in a Best 2 out of 3 Falls Match to Earn a Shot at the WWE World Tag Team Titles The former tag team champions of The Rhodes Scholars had been arguing amongst themselves since their failure to regain the tag titles at Wrestlemania. In the build to Payback though, they seemingly put their differences aside to take on former champions The Usos. Rhodes and Sandow were able to pick up the first fall, with Cody catching Jimmy with the Cross Rhodes suddenly. However, the Usos quickly recovered, hitting Sandow with a double superkick and a quick rollup to even the score. They then won the third and decisive fall after Sandow inadvertantly knocked his own partner off the ropes, allowing him to be hit with a Samoan drop followed by an Uso splash for the win.
*Kaitlyn d. AJ Lee w/Tamina Snuka by Disqualification [AJ Retains the Divas Title] Kaitlyn finally gained a rematch for the Divas Title against AJ Lee after defeating Tamina Snuka on an episode of Raw. The former champion looked set to pick up the win against her former friend, when Tamina decided to get involved, attacking Kaitlyn and hitting her with a Samoan Drop, resulting in a DQ win for AJ.
*Curtis Axel w/Paul Heyman d. Zack Ryder by Pinfall to Win the Intercontinental Title Paul Heyman had recently revealed the third generation star Curtis Axel as a "Paul Heyman guy" and as his newest client in WWE (much to the annoyance of one of his current clients in CM Punk, so much so that Punk had asked Heyman to stay in back during his WWE Title match later in the night). Axel was given a shot at the Intercontinental Champion Zack Ryder through Heyman's wheelings and dealings, but the son of Mr. Perfect was struggling against the Long Island Broski during his title match. Eventually though Heyman was able to distract Ryder and the referee while sliding a pair of brass knuckles into Axel. Axel went to use the knucks, but Ryder and the referee saw his attempt and the referee pulled the knucks away. While his back was turned disposing of the weapon, Axel kicked Ryder below the belt. He then locked in a Perfect-Plex and got the pinfall victory, winning the IC Title.
*Dolph Ziggler d. Chris Jericho by Pinfall to Retain the World Heavyweight Championship Dolph Ziggler and Chris Jericho, having found respect for one another through their wars the previous year and at Wrestlemania, agreed to have a competitive match for the World Heavyweight Championship at Payback. The match was exactly that, right until Jericho looked to be setting up Ziggler for the Walls of Jericho, when a video glitch suddenly appeared on the Titantron, combined with a familiar mix of screeches and screams. Jericho paused and glanced at the Titantron in wonder, giving Ziggler the chance to recover and hit him with the Zig Zag before rolling him up for the pin. Ziggler then left with the World Title while Jericho still stared at the screen in wonder, before the video glitch and screaming returned and the lights went out. When they came back on, the Wyatt Family was standing in the ring, surrounding Jericho, while Bray Wyatt sat in his rocking chair at the entryway. Luke Harper, Erick Rowan and Noah Kassidy then viciously assaulted Jericho, leaving him broken as Bray Wyatt sauntered his way down to the ring. With Jericho nearly unconscious, the Family presented Y2J to their leader, and Bray delivered a Sister Abigail's Kiss to Jericho before departing with his disciples.
*Randy Orton d. CM Punk in a Three Stages of Hell Match to Retain the WWE Championship After failing to regain the WWE Championship in the 8 Man Elimination Match at Extreme Rules, CM Punk challenged Randy Orton to a 3 Stages of Hell Match for the title. The first match was a Lumberjack Rules Match, which saw several fights break out amongst the lumberjacks on the outside, distracting Punk and allowing Orton to get the win with an RKO out of nowhere. Punk evened the score in the 2nd fall, which was a Chicago Street Fight, hitting Orton with a GTS after hitting him in the gut and across the back with a lead pipe. The third and decisive fall was a Steel Cage Match between the two men, and both men put their bodies on the line to try and win the title. Punk made his way up the cage halfway, but Orton caught him and then hit a massive RKO off the cage into the middle of the ring. Orton then crawled his way over to the edge of the cage and climbed up, while Paul Heyman came running out and opened the door for Punk, trying to urge him out. Punk crawled his way to the door, but couldn't make it out of the cage before Orton finished climbing down the outside, as the Viper retained the WWE Title after a brutal match.

WWE Money in the Bank July 14, 2013 WellsFargo Center Philadelphia, PA
*Damien Sandow d. Cody Rhodes, Fandango, Big E Langston, Wade Barrett, Christian & Alberto del Rio to win the World Heavyweight Championship Money in the Bank Contract The first Money in the Bank ladder match would see the winner earn a World Heavyweight Championship match at any time they chose. The match featured several upcoming stars such as Big E Langston and Fandango as well as veterans like Christian. However the main stories were the continued feud between Alberto del Rio and his former ring announcer Ricardo Rodriguez as well as the implosion of The Rhodes Scholars. In the former, del Rio was taken out when he had a chance to grab the briefcase by Rodriguez, giving chase to the former ring announcer and effectively taking himself out of the match. Cody Rhodes also had a clear shot at the briefcase, only to be hit by a brandy glass to the back of the head by his now former tag partner Damien Sandow. The Intellectual Saviour of the Masses then climbed the ladder and retrieved the briefcase to the shock of many.
*The Shield [Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins] d. The Usos [Jimmy & Jey Uso] by Pinfall to Retain the WWE World Tag Team Titles The Usos had earned a WWE Tag Team Title shot at The Shield by virtue of winning a match the previous month at Payback. Their original title shot on Raw ended in a No Contest, leading to this rematch at Money in the Bank. In a highly competitive match, the Shield were pushed to the biggest limit of their careers as tag team champions, but in the end Ambrose took out Jimmy and left Jey open for a superkick followed by a Curb Stomp from Rollins, giving the Shield a hard earned victory.
*Antonio Cesaro d. Brodus Clay w/A-Train by Pinfall During the lumberjack portion of the Three Stages of Hell match between CM Punk and Randy Orton, Antonio Cesaro and Brodus Clay had engaged in a brawl with each other, leading to this short feud. Despite his sheer size, Cesaro was able to move the Funkasaurus with his sheer strength, leading to him hitting the Giant Swing on Clay and then finishing him off with a Zurich Bomb.
*Chris Jericho d. Noah Kassidy w/The Wyatt Family by Disqualification The Wyatt Family had made their main roster debut at Payback, targeting the veteran Chris Jericho during his World Title match with Dolph Ziggler and leaving him lying on the mat. Jericho had tried to return the favor by appearing in NXT, interrupting a North American Title match between Family member Noah Kassidy and Sami Zayn and costing the former his championship, leading to this match at Money in the Bank. Kassidy looked somewhat overwhelmed with Jericho's offense, but the numbers game of the Wyatt Family helped him along, all while Bray Wyatt sat in his rocking chair in the entryway, simply watching his family at work. Jericho looked ready to trap Kassidy in the Walls of Jericho when Luke Harper entered the ring and hit him with a Discus Lariat, leading to the disqualification. Like they had the month before, the Family then swarmed Jericho in the ring and left him lying, as Bray entered the fray and hit Sister Abigail's Kiss on Y2J.
*Dolph Ziggler d. Jack Swagger w/Zeb Colter by Pinfall to Retain the World Heavyweight Championship Jack Swagger had won a #1 contenders Fatal Fourway on Smackdown to earn a shot at the World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler. The Real American former champion worked over the ankle of Ziggler throughout the match, trying to soften it up for the Patriot Lock. Ziggler fought through the pain, even after Swagger managed to lock the Ankle Lock onto him, and eventually Ziggler battled back to hit a Superkick on Swagger followed by a Zig Zag for the win. After the match though, Swagger didn't take his loss lying down. Swagger and Colter both put the boots to Ziggler and then Swagger locked the champion in the Patriot Lock for a full minute before officials were finally able to pry the Real American off the World Champion.
*Damien Sandow d. Dolph Ziggler via Money in the Bank Cash-In to Win the World Heavyweight Championship As ringside doctors and referees tended to Ziggler, the newly crowned Mr. Money in the Bank wasted no time in cashing in his contract, forcing Ziggler to effectively defend the World Heavyweight Title on one leg. Ziggler fought valiantly, even hitting a Fameasser on Sandow for a near fall. But Sandow eventually hit his reverse neckbreaker for the pinfall and became World Heavyweight Champion.
*Randy Orton d. Curtis Axel w/Paul Heyman by Pinfall to Retain the WWE Championship Much to CM Punk's annoyance, it would be Paul Heyman's newest client Curtis Axel who received a shot at Randy Orton's WWE Championship, as the current Intercontinental Champion challenged Orton to a Champion vs. Champion match (though only Orton's title was on the line.) Axel was able to hold his own for a time against his fellow third generation superstar, but eventually Orton defeated the IC Champion with an RKO in a fairly standard title defense.
*John Cena d. CM Punk, Mark Henry, Roman Reigns, Sheamus, Rob Van Dam & The Miz to Win the WWE Championship Money in the Bank Contract CM Punk and John Cena were the two odds on favorites to compete for the WWE Championship Money in the Bank contract. In the former's case, he continued to want to regain the title he had held for over 500 days, while Cena was making his first real run since Wrestlemania, having rededicated himself to his career (and sporting a far less colorful ring attire in the process). Punk had a chance to win the contract late in the match, but to the shock of everyone he was attack with a steel chair by his manager Paul Heyman, who turned on his client, distracting him long enough for Roman Reigns to knock the ladder over, sending Punk spilling to the outside through a table as Heyman ran off through the crowd. In the end, Cena was able to fight off both RVD and Sheamus atop three ladders to grab the briefcase and become Mr. Money in the Bank, finally achieving some measure of success after months of frustration to close the show.

NXT Arrival: West Coast Clash August 17, 2013 Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena Los Angeles, CA
*Xavier Woods & Angelo Dawkins d. The European Axis [Sylvester LeFourt & Alexander Rusev] w/Marquis de Louis In a standard tag match, the duo of Xavier Woods and Angelo Dawkins had managed to regain their footing as a tag team, defeating The European Axis after Woods hit his springboard elbow on LeFourt to get the win. After the match, LeFourt and Rusev appeared to argue with each other, as Rusev left with a blonde haired woman from the crowd who had been seen scouting him in recent weeks on NXT.
*Bayley d. Emma by Pinfall The fangirl Bayley had been following around many of the top female stars in NXT, attempting to emulate them. This was especially true of former NXT Women's Champion Emma. However Emma didn't take kindly to Bayley "Emma-tation", and viciously attacked her on an episode of NXT, leading to this match. To Emma's surprise, Bayley proved to be more than competent in the ring, and it took Emma clipping Bayley's knee from behind before she could take advantage. However, Bayley fought through the pain and caught Emma with a Belly to Belly Suplex to pick up the upset win in surprisingly quick fashion.
*The Ascension [Konnor & Viktor] d. Los Matadores [Diego & Fernando] w/El Torito by Pinfall to Retain the NXT Tag Team Titles Los Matadores (masked versions of former WWE Tag Team Champions Primo and Epico Colon) had debuted in NXT with some degree of success, along with their mascot the miniature El Torito. Against the dominant Ascension, though, they fell quickly, as the champions defeated Diego and Fernando after hitting the latter with their Fall of Man finisher.
*Adrian Neville d. Sami Zayn by Pinfall to Win the NXT North American Title Sami Zayn had continued his dominant run in NXT by winning the North American Title from Noah Kassidy (albeit with unwanted help from Chris Jericho). Zayn fought the high flyer Adrian Neville at West Coast Clash, and the two men had a stellar match with several near falls and a close nail biting finish. Zayn set up Neville for a Helluva Kick, but Neville was able to leap frog out of the corner and hit a back kick that stunned the champion. Neville then climbed to the top and hit the Red Arrow for the win and shockingly cutting Zayn's title reign short.
*Paige d. Becky Lynch by Pinfall to Retain the NXT Women's Title Paige and Becky Lynch's alliance had fallen apart shortly after Lynch won a triple threat match to become the next top contender to the NXT Women's Title. This led to the Anti-Diva attacking Lynch on an episode of NXT and smashing her knee with steel ring steps, making Lynch damaged going into their title match. The Irish Lass did the best she could despite her handicap, but Paige took advantage of Becky's hindrance and eventually hit the Rampaige to pick up the win. After the match, Paige continued to stomp on Becky and eventually locked her in a Figure-4, only for Becky to be saved by Charlotte Flair from the back.
*Bo Dallas d. Tyson Kidd by Pinfall to Retain the NXT Championship Tyson Kidd had won a triple threat match at the previous NXT special in June to earn a title shot at Bo Dallas for the NXT Championship. Despite his main roster experience, Kidd wasn't able to overcome the fight and fire of Dallas, and Bo eventually hit a top rope bulldog to pick up the win over the Canadian Prodigy. As Dallas celebrated, he was suddenly confronted by newly crowned North American Champion Adrian Neville, who held up his own championship and stared down the NXT Champion to close out the show.

WWE Summerslam August 18, 2013 Staples Center Los Angeles, CA
*Bray Wyatt d. Chris Jericho by Pinfall After Chris Jericho had continued to feud with the Wyatt Family throughout the summer, the godfather of the Family, Bray Wyatt, felt the need to step into the ring himself and deal with Y2J. To the surprise of many, Wyatt absolutely dominated Jericho, absorbing all of his offense and using his high octane style to steamroll the former WWE Champion. At the end, Bray literally danced around the ring with an unconscious Jericho before putting him away with Sister Abigail's Kiss for a dominant victory.
*John Cena d. Christian by Pinfall John Cena had returned at Money in the Bank and managed to reverse a series of setbacks in his career, winning the briefcase in the Money in the Bank ladder match. However he was insulted by a former rival in Christian, who claimed that Cena had nothing left in the tank. Cena proved him wrong by earning a strong victory over Captain Charisma, hitting him with not one but two Attitude Adjustments in succession to get the victory.
*Big E Langston d. Wade Barrett by Pinfall to Retain the United States Title Wade Barrett had targeted Big E Langston for the United States Title, wanting to "win it for queen and country", leading to a match between the two men. The two big hoss fighters pummeled each other with power moves, with Barrett initially getting the advantage. However Big E eventually made a comeback and, after ducking a Bullhammer Elbow, lifted up Barrett and hit him with the Big Ending for the pinfall victory.
*The Shield [Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns] d. Kane & The Usos [Jimmy & Jey Uso] by Pinfall The Shield continued its run of dominance as a six man unit, having little difficulty in taking out the Big Red Machine and the Usos after Rollins hit a Curb Stomp on Jimmy Uso to pick up the victory.
*Rob Van Dam d. Curtis Axel w/Paul Heyman by Pinfall to Win the Intercontinental Title Rob Van Dam had been making something of a comeback over the last few months, which put him back in orbit of his original WWE manager and ECW promoter Paul Heyman. Heyman wanted Van Dam to resume his position as a "Paul Heyman Guy", but Van Dam declined, instead wanting to take on Heyman's newest client Curtis Axel for the Intercontinental Title. Axel played a keep away strategy from Van Dam, trying to prevent the title from leaving his grasp. Heyman helped his client gain an advantage, to the point where Axel hooked Van Dam for a Perfect-Plex. However RVD was able to kick out of the move. The ref took a bump from an errant clothesline, causing Heyman to toss a steel chair into Axel. However when Axel caught it, Van Dam turned around and hit the champion with a Van Daminator before taking out the evidence. Van Dam then followed up with the 5 Star Frogsplash for the win and becoming the new Intercontinental Champion.
*AJ Lee d. Kaitlyn by Submission in a "Final Chance" Match to Retain the Divas Championship Kaitlyn had earned the #1 contendership to the Divas Title, but AJ Lee claimed she was "tired" of defending the title against her former friend, so she successfully argued for the stipulation that it would be Kaitlyn's last shot at the championship, while Kaitlyn got the stipulation that Tamina Snuka would be banned from ringside. As it turned out, AJ didn't need Kaitlyn at her side, as she eventually locked her former friend in the Black Widow submission on Kaitlyn and got her to tap out in the center of the ring.
*Damien Sandow d. Cody Rhodes by Pinfall to Retain the World Heavyweight Title After Damien Sandow had cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase on Dolph Ziggler the previous month to become World Heavyweight Champion, he immediately entered a feud with former Rhodes Scholars teammate Cody Rhodes. The former Dashing one controlled much of their World Title match, but Sandow's underhanded tactics were able to keep the match even at points. Rhodes eventually went for the Cross Rhodes, but Sandow kicked at the referee in an attempt to get intentionally disqualified. It appeared that the ref would do just that until Rhodes pleaded with him not to. However the distraction allowed Sandow to roll up Rhodes from behind and, with a handful of tights, pick up the win. After the match, Sandow was laid out on the outside by an irate Rhodes, who hit the Cross Rhodes on the concrete, leaving the champion unconscious.
*Ricardo Rodriguez d. Alberto del Rio by Pinfall in a No Disqualification Match Ricardo Rodriguez had turned on his former employer earlier in the year, and the Mexican Aristocrat had been trying to get revenge ever since. This No Disqualification match was that opportunity, as Del Rio had his way with his former personal ring announcer, beating him from pillar to post for a short time. However del Rio's run was cut short suddenly by a reappearing Damien Sandow, who had been hiding under the ring from the previous match. Sandow took out del Rio with a steel chair shot, which allowed Rodriguez to pick up the cheap win, with Rodriguez and Sandow leaving the ringside area together.
*Brock Lesnar w/Paul Heyman d. CM Punk by Pinfall After Paul Heyman had turned on CM Punk at Money in the Bank, the former WWE champion was immediately looking for revenge against his former manager and friend. This caused Heyman to call on his "nuclear option," Brock Lesnar, to face off against Punk at Summerslam. Punk tried to outwrestle the much more powerful Lesnar, getting him down to the mat and working over the arm to set him up for the Anaconda Vise. However Lesnar continued to power through and hit an F5, only to be astonished when Punk kicked out of the move. Punk himself managed to power Lesnar up to his shoulders to hit a GTS, but Lesnar was able to get his foot on the ropes at the last second. In the end, Punk went for a top rope cross body, only to be caught by Lesnar, who hit him with a second F5 to pick up the victory.
*Daniel Bryan d. Randy Orton by Pinfall to Win the WWE Championship The night after Money in the Bank, Randy Orton had won a battle royal that had been originally been designed to determine his challenger for Summerslam. As a result of winning the Battle Royal, Orton was allowed to handpick his opponent by WWE COO Triple H. After polling the fans, Orton chose Daniel Bryan to be his challenger. After Stephanie McMahon tried to insinuate that Bryan wasn't the image of a WWE champion, Triple H vowed to make sure the match between he and Orton would be fair by inserting himself as special guest referee. Orton and Bryan did have a fair match, which ended in shocking fashion after Bryan hit a Running Knee on Orton to pick up the pinfall and become WWE Champion to the shock and delight of the crowd. As Bryan celebrated in the ring though, Triple H suddenly kicked him in the gut and delivered a Pedigree. Triple H then waved to the back and a familiar tune played from the back...
*John Cena d. Daniel Bryan via Money in the Bank Cash-In to Win the WWE Championship Mr. Money in the Bank, John Cena slowly made his way from the locker room holding his briefcase. Cena looked reticent to cash in as Triple H asked him "Are we gonna do this?" Cena looked at the crowd, some of who pled with him not to do this and others who booed him out of habit. Cena mouthed to no one "Eff this," and handed the briefcase to Triple H, cashing in on the unconscious Bryan. Cena then pinned him as Triple H counted the fall, with Cena becoming the WWE Champion once again to close the show.

Ooh Cena immediately joining the Authority is not a move I predicted but not one I'm against. In reality the problem with a Cena heel turn (especially around this time) is that everyone is expecting it. There were only two ways I could think of to generate legit heel heat in Cena. I'm potentially saving one in my back pocket, and this was the other.
