Verizon Center
Washington, D.C.
“Tick Tick Boom” by The Hives leads us into a video package to start the PPV where the WWE Fans are in control of all of the action! Every match tonight will be influenced in one way or another by the fan voting.
After the opening package, the camera cuts to the arena where pyros go off. Joey Styles and Tazz from ECW welcome the audience in before “Ain't No Make Believe” hits and ECW Champion, Johnny Nitro makes his entrance. (94%) Nitro makes his entrance as he is defending his ECW Title and then Styles sends it off to Todd Grisham, who is at the “Voting Control Center” on the side of the stage as he is ready to reveal Nitro's opponent. A shot of CM Punk, Tommy Dreamer, and Kane standing backstage shows on the titantron as Grisham goes over the vote. A graphic of the voting is then displayed and with 51% CM Punk wins the fan vote [Dreamer 36%, Kane 13%]. Dreamer congratulates Punk and shakes his hand while Kane just nods his head. (92%)
MATCH 1: Johnny Nitro vs. CM Punk for the ECW Championship (67%, 1.5*)
Much to Nitro's chagrin, Punk wins the fan vote, and “This Fire Burns” hits as Punk comes out to a roaring ovation. After Referee Scott Armstrong raises the ECW Title, the bell rings and the two circle each other for a little bit. Punk steps forward and Nitro sheepishly follows suit but Punk starts the action off by kicking Nitro in the shin. Nitro hops backwards and complains to the ref but Armstrong doesn't want to hear it.
Both men then slowly lock hands in a “test of strength” situation but Nitro hits a cheap kick to Punk's gut. Nitro then clubs Punk in the back of his neck, dropping Punk to his knees. Nitro runs off the ropes to try and hit a running knee to Punk's face but Punk ducks and rolls up Nitro, almost getting a surprise quick pin. Nitro, almost shocked, rolls out of the ring to collect himself.
Nitro tells Armstrong to back Punk up before getting back in the ring and this time the two go back and forth with a chain wrestling sequence. The end result was Punk gaining the upper hand after a couple of slap-strikes to the face, followed by a spinning back fist and then a roundhouse kick to the face. Punk would catch Nitro before he fell and hit a Uranage. Punk then tried to turn it into an “Anaconda Vice” but Nitro quickly shuffled to the ropes using his feet out of desperation.
Nitro slid under the rope and was on the apron but when Punk tried to pick him up, Nitro hung Punk over the top rope and Punk fell grabbing his neck. Nitro would then take control of the match and he started with a springboard elbow drop, which got a near-fall. Nitro then picked Punk up and delivered a neckbreaker, as he zeroed in on Punk's head and neck region. After another quick cover that was kicked out of, Nitro immediately put Punk in a sleeper hold.
After Nitro kept Punk grounded for about a minute, Punk started to gain a second wind, feeding off of the energy of the crowd to get back to a vertical basis. Punk finally separated himself with a couple of elbows to Nitro's gut but then Nitro came back with an STO Backbreaker and followed it up with a Russian Leg Sweep. Nitro then dragged Punk near the corner and after a little bit of showboating, Nitro went for 'Starship Pain' but Punk moved out of the way and now both men were down.
After a count of six, both men started making their way to their feet. Nitro charged at Punk but Punk ducked and then rebounded off the ropes with a leg lariat to knock Nitro down. Punk then went through the ropes and waited on the apron for Nitro to get back up. When Nitro staggered to his feet, Punk hit a springboard clothesline. Punk then stalked Nitro as he wobbled to his feet again and got him up for a 'GTS' but Nitro was able to grab the top rope with his hands and stop the move from happening.
Punk pulled Nitro away but Nitro's feet ended up knocking out Referee Scott Armstrong. Punk hit the 'GTS' but when he went to make the cover, he didn't realize Armstrong was knocked out and couldn't believe it. Punk went over to Armstrong and tried to shake him awake but when he walked back over to engage with Nitro again, Nitro hit a low blow and both men were down again.
Nitro then went to the outside and grabbed his ECW Championship. Nitro got back in the ring and clocked Punk in the head with it before disposing the evidence to the outside. Referee Armstrong was still recovering and you could feel the urgency as Nitro tried to speed up the process by placing him in position to make a count. Nitro hooked the leg and Armstrong slowly counted, 1...2...AND PUNK KICKS OUT AT 2.99!!!
Nitro was bewildered at this point and was trying to figure out what else he could do to put Punk away. Nitro then decided to remove the top turnbuckle cover while the ref was still unaware but when he went to whip Punk into it, Punk reversed and Nitro went back-first into the exposed turnbuckle. With Nitro propped up in the corner, Punk found another gear and hit Nitro with his running high knee strike, followed by a running bulldog.
Punk then signaled for the 'GTS' and when Nitro turned around, Punk lifted him up and hit a second 'Go-To-Sleep.' Referee Armstrong was now back to his feet and made the cover as Punk got the 1, 2, 3!
WINNER – CM Punk by pinfall in 11:36 ***NEW ECW CHAMPION***
The crowd cheers as CM Punk has become a double champion on the ECW brand. Punk retrieves the ECW Title from the ground outside and gets back in the ring to lift both up in the air. Joey Styles remarks that Punk has finally climbed over the last hurdle and is now at the top!
While Punk's music continues to play the camera shifts to the RAW announce team and JR and King congratulate Punk before talking about the next contest as the rivalry between Triple H and Umaga will come to an end. A promo package then plays going over the feud before Todd Grisham is shown again in the control center. Grisham mentions all three match stipulations and the results are shown on the screen. With a commanding 64%, the WWE fans want to see Triple H vs. Umaga in a Samoan Strap Match! [25% Last Man Standing, 11% Street Fight] (90%)
MATCH 2: Triple H vs. Umaga in a Samoan Strap Match (84%, 3.5*)
Umaga would make his entrance with Armando Alejandro Estrada but would bark at him when they walked out on the stage and Estrada went to the back as it appeared Umaga wanted to handle this one on his own. “The Game” then hit and Triple H made his way out to the ring to a great reaction. Both men stared at each other intently as Referee Mike Chioda fastened the strap around both men's wrists. JR then explained the rules as the winner would be the first man to touch all four corners in succession without a delay.
Referee Mike Chioda fastened Triple H's wrist second and as soon as he finished and rang the bell, Umaga took advantage and yanked Triple H in and hit him with a clothesline. Umaga then used the strap to choke Hunter but Chioda put a stop to it very quickly. Umaga then grabbed the slack and whipped Triple H over the back a couple of times, leading to Hunter yelling out in pain as welts formed on his back.
Umaga then applied a nerve hold to a seated Triple H. Hunter started to make his way up but Umaga switched into a standing sleeper hold. Triple H was in it for about 30 seconds before coming to life. Triple H briefly elbowed his way out but Umaga, like a piranha, locked it back in. However, this time Triple H decided to run towards the ropes and then slide his way out of the grasp of Umaga as Umaga took a spill through the middle rope and to the outside.
Triple H then manipulated his strap through the ropes to meet Umaga on the outside. Triple H returned the favor with a few whips to the back of Umaga and Umaga ended up crawling to the side of the ring near the announce tables. Triple H then picked up Umaga and slammed him face-first off the RAW announce table. Triple H did it a second time but when he tried for number three, Umaga blocked it and then hit a back elbow to Triple H's face. Umaga then sent HHH back first into the apron.
Umaga then threw HHH shoulder-first into the steel steps knocking off the top section. With Triple H collapsed over the base section of the stairs, Umaga grabbed the top section and tried to slam it down on Triple H but Hunter moved and Umaga slammed the stairs and shook his hands in stinging pain. Triple H hit a couple of rights and then rolled Umaga back into the ring. Hunter got on the middle rope and dropped a double-axe handle to Umaga before touching the same corner he jumped off of. Triple H went to the next corner but when he tried for the third, Umaga held him back from the ground.
Triple H was not able to reach the corners on the other end of the ring and the attempt was called off. Triple H then went back over to Umaga and started laying in rights in a side-mount headlock. Umaga rolled out of the ring to escape the beatdown and Triple H came back out with him again. With Umaga leaning against the RAW announce table, Triple H clotheslined him and Umaga flew over the table, almost knocking over JR and King, who got out of their seats.
Triple H then removed the cover and cleared off the table. JR and King got out of the way and Triple H stood on the table and grabbed Umaga by his hair and pulled him up. Triple H got him to his feet and went for a 'Pedigree' but Umaga blocked it before spinning out of it and hitting Triple H with a 'Samoan Spike.' Triple H fell off the table and crashed to the floor below, holding his throat as Umaga recovered on top of the table. Umaga then got to his feet and hit a splash off the table.
Umaga slowly got to his feet and rolled Triple H into the ring. Umaga started touching corners and it appeared he may win the match but right before he could reach the last corner, Triple H yanked on the strap and there was a struggle. After about 10 seconds, Umaga stopped his attempt and charged at Triple H only to get hit with a 'Double A Spinebuster.' Both men were down but when Triple H got to his feet he did his arm raise taunt to signal for a 'Pedigree.'
Triple H would kick Umaga in the gut and drop him with a 'Pedigree' but Umaga's momentum caused him to fall out of the ring. Triple H tried tugging on the strap but aborted and decided to see if he could reach all four corners but unfortunately, he could only get to the two corners where Umaga lay. Triple H then went to the outside to retrieve Umaga but he was dead weight. Eventually, Umaga started to stir and Triple H got him up and into the ring.
Triple H then lifted the ring apron to grab a SLEDGEHAMMER! Triple H waited until Umaga got to his feet and went at him but Umaga ducked and hit a Savate Kick right to Triple H's face. Triple H fell into the corner and Umaga went to the other side of the ring and charged to hit his running hip attack but HHH moved out of the way! Triple H then quickly grabbed the sledgehammer and nailed Umaga in the midsection with it before hitting a second 'Pedigree.'
Triple H started his trek around the ring. One corner, two corners, three corners, and FOUR! Triple H successfully hits all four corners and wins the 'Samoan Strap Match.'
WINNER – Triple H by touching all four corners in 15:09
Triple H immediately collapses after hitting the fourth corner and his music plays as replays are shown. When the shot came back live, both men were unstrapped and Umaga was face-down on the outside as Triple H used the ropes to keep himself up while holding up his sledgehammer in celebration. JR and King express what a grueling match we just saw and Umaga stumbles to the back as Triple H continues posing in the ring.
The camera then cuts to backstage where Smackdown's Josh Mathews is standing by with the new ECW Champion, CM Punk. Mathews congratulates Punk on becoming the new champ and asks Punk for his thoughts. Punk showcases both the ECW Title and the Hardcore Title and says that all of the blood, sweat, and tears that it took to get to the point was all worth it. (87%)
The music of Women's Champion, Candice Michelle hits and the champ makes her way down to the ring. Once inside, the action goes back to the control center and Todd Grisham has the vote for Candice's opponent. A shot of all five of the divas are shown backstage and then the voting graphic comes on the screen. With a 43% majority, Mickie James has won the fan vote and will have a chance to become a three-time champ [Jillian Hall 17%, Melina 17%, Maryse 13%, Maria 10%]. Mickie James made her way out high-fiving and thanking a ton of fans on her way down the aisle. (71%)
MATCH 3: Candice Michelle (c) vs. Mickie James for the Women's Championship (59%, 0.5*)
After raising the Women's Championship in the air, Referee Chad Patton called for the bell, kicking off the match. The two ladies shook hands and then locked up. After a little bit of chain wrestling, Mickie had a side headlock applied and Candice sent her off the ropes. Candice dropped down and then used her athletic ability to leap over a charging Mickie. On the next go-around, Candice hit an arm drag and smiled at Mickie as she won that exchange.
Mickie smirked and nodded her head and then came in for another lock-up. This time Mickie would get the advantage by trying to score a quick pin with a jackknife cover, but Candice got out at two. Candice looked at Mickie, who then smirked at her and signaled that she was really close to winning right there. The smiling was now over and the two locked up again. This time Candice was sent off the ropes and came back with a flying clothesline, knocking Mickie down.
Candice then picked Mickie up and hit a Northern Lights Suplex, getting a two-count after the bridging pin. Candice went for her “Go-Daddy” dance and attempted an elbow drop but Mickie moved out of the way. Both ladies then exchanged blows when they got to their feet. Mickie tried to hit her roundhouse kick but Candice ducked and rolled up Mickie with a 'School Girl' but Mickie got out just before the three count.
Mickie got right back to her feet and Candice swung and missed when Mickie ducked and hit a neckbreaker. Mickie then hit a snapmare on Candice and went off the ropes to hit a dropkick to the back of her head. Mickie then posed to the crowd and signaled for her signature implant DDT. Mickie got Candice in position but when Mickie jumped up, Candice stopped her in mid-air and dumped her feet-first over the top rope.
Mickie crashed hard and was down on the outside while Candice slowly got up in the ring. Candice walked over to the ropes and then threw herself over, hitting Mickie with a crossbody. The crowd buzzed in excitement after the move and Candice got to her feet and reveled in the adulation. Candice rolled Mickie in the ring and motioned for Mickie to get t her feet. Candice booted Mickie in the gut and went for the 'Candy Wrapper' but when she spun Mickie around, Mickie turned it into a backslide pin.
Once again, Candice just escaped and then when both ladies got to their feet, Candice reversed an Irish Whip, sending Mickie into the corner. Candice then charged but Mickie jumped up and caught Candice's head between her legs before pushing off the ropes and hitting a hurricanrana. Mickie stalked Candice and went for her 'Mick Kick' but Candice got her hands up and blocked it.
Candice caught Mickie's foot and Mickie hopped a couple of times before hitting a Jeff Hardy-like mule kick to knock Candice backward. Candice stumbled towards the ropes and Mickie charged at her but Candice jumped up on the turnbuckle and Mickie came in under her. Candice was able to turn it into a rear sitout mat slam and after hooking Mickie's leg, Candice was able to get a three count to retain her Women's Championship.
WINNER – Candice Michelle by pinfall in 8:07
Candice Michelle grabbed her championship and held it up high. Mickie James would eventually get up and walk briskly towards Candice. There appeared to be some tension and Mickie had a mean look on her face but after a few seconds, she put her hand out and the two shook hands. Mickie then raised Candice's arm in the air before leaving the ring.
JR commented on the great show of sportsmanship and then sent it over to Smackdown's Michael Cole and Ernest 'The Cat' Miller for the first time tonight. Cole and Cat discussed the 'Career Threatening' Match which was next between JBL and 'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair.
This led into a video package on the feud between the two and then Todd Grisham was back at the control center to see what stipulation this match would take place in. With 44% a Steel Cage Match was voted as the stipulation [Submission 30%, No-DQ 26%]. It is noted by Michael Cole that this would be a classic steel cage match, which means the only way to win is by pinfall or submission. The crowd goes wild as the lights go down and the menacing music plays as the steel cage lowers. Once it is around the ring, a loud “WOOOOOOOOOOO!” hits as Ric Flair makes his entrance in what could possibly be his final match. (96%)
MATCH 4: Ric Flair vs. JBL in a Steel Cage Career Threatening Match (82%, 3*)
“Longhorn” then hits as the crowd boos JBL out of the building. Bradshaw enters the ring and Referee Jimmy Korderas locks the door from the outside. The bell rings as Referee Charles Robinson signals for it and the crowd starts erupting in a “Nature Boy” chant. Flair then does his signature strut and JBL is not amused. Flair slaps his shoulders to signal for a lock-up and JBL backs Flair into the corner.
JBL goes for a slap but Flair ducks and then they switch positions as Flair hits his classic knife-edge chops on JBL. After a few of them, Flair whips JBL out of the corner but JBL counters and sends Flair hard into the opposite corner. Flair bounces out and gets massive air as JBL hits him with a back-body drop. JBL starts yelling at the crowd and saying that the beating Flair is getting is all because of them.
JBL toys with Flair, slapping him in the face, before getting him up and trying to bash his head off the cage. JBL goes to do it but Flair grips the steel-linked fence and blocks it. After another try, Flair elbows JBL in the head, staggering him towards the center of the ring. Flair then grabs JBL and throws him face-first into the steel. 'Naitch then hits a running knee drop to JBL's head and tries to score the pinfall but JBL kicks out at 2.
Flair gets JBL back to his feet and starts chopping away at him again and JBL backtracks into the corner. Flair then climbs the ropes and starts hitting rights on JBL as the crowd counts to 10. However, before Flair can get to 10, JBL picks him up and slams him with a powerbomb. JBL goes for the cover but Flair kicks out at 2 in a close one! JBL then trash-talks Flair and stomps on him a couple of times.
JBL picks Flair up and hits him with a Fall Away Slam. JBL goes for another cover but the resilient 'Nature Boy' kicks out again. JBL starts to become frustrated and slings Flair into the steel cage. Flair hits the canvas and when he turns over, he is bleeding from his forehead. JBL sees this and goes right to the ground and starts hitting Flair with right after right, opening the wound more.
With Flair's white hair starting to get stained by the crimson blood, JBL grabs Flair's leg and signals for a Figure-Four. JBL is trying to humiliate Flair on his way out and get 'Naitch to submit to his own maneuver. JBL locks it in and Flair sits up and screams. The blood is sweating from his forehead as Referee Charles Robinson asks if he wants to give up but Flair adamantly starts shaking his head no.
After about 30 seconds, Flair starts trying to swing at JBL, but his reach is not enough and he is starting to wear down. Flair can try to get to the ropes but it is explained by Michael Cole that the ropes will not cause a break in this instance. Flair finally digs deep down and starts to shift the balance. Flair tries to turn on his left side and almost gets there but JBL keeps control. Flair then uses the momentum to turn to his right and after a little bit of waving the air with his arm, Flair is able to flip on his stomach and reverse the pressure.
JBL breaks the hold seconds later and now is starting to wonder how he can end this. He grabs Flair by the head and yells at him to “just die already.” Flair is left wobbling and JBL goes off the ropes to hit his 'Clothesline From Hell' but Flair instinctively ducks or more or less collapses and Referee Charles Robinson gets caught in the line of fire and takes the impact. With Robinson out and Flair still down, JBL yells at Referee Jimmy Korderas to unlock the cage door and get in the ring.
After a brief hesitation, Korderas unlocks the cage door and enters but when JBL goes to pick up Flair, 'The Dirtiest Player in the Game' strikes with a low blow and now both men are down. After a few seconds, the camera shows the entrance aisle as it is the former WWE Tag Team Champs, Deuce & Domino. Michael Cole bemoans their arrival and they run up to the cage to show a still-recovering JBL that they are here.
JBL, holding his groin area, directs traffic and Deuce goes to grab a steel chair from the timekeeper's area. Referee Korderas tries to lock the door from the inside but Domino quickly runs over to prevent it. Domino yells and threatens Korderas and he backs away as Deuce walks up to the door and slides in the steel chair. Just as JBL goes to grab the chair...
“I Walk Alone” by Saliva hits and it's 'The Animal' Batista. Batista is not going to let it go down like this and he sprints down the aisle and speared the absolute daylights out of Domino, who tried to meet him halfway. JBL yells at Deuce to go after him but Batista lifts him up and slams him back-first into the steel cage. Batista then walks over to the open door and threatens to enter but Referee Korderas closes the door and tells Batista to back off.
Batista ultimately abides by the official's request and JBL grins as the two jaw back and forth. Flair is now getting up and JBL goes to swing the steel chair at Flair but misses! Flair ducks and when JBL turns around, Flair pokes him in the eye. JBL drops the chair as he covers his eye and Flair picks it up and nails JBL over the back with it. With JBL on the ground, Flair continues to tee off on his back. Flair then turns JBL over and applies the Figure-Four Leg Lock.
JBL screams in agony and is desperately trying to flip over but the chair shots to the back have rendered him immobile. JBL tries all he can but after about a minute he starts frantically tapping and Flair continues his career, winning by submission.
WINNER – Ric Flair by submission in 16:24
Flair's music hits as he slowly backs away from JBL. While seated, Referee Korderas raises his hand and then Batista enters the ring and picks up his mentor. As the cage starts getting raised up, Batista and Flair share an embrace while JBL, Deuce, and Domino are all shown down. Replays of the match are shown and when the action cuts back to the ring, Batista is raising Flair's hand and directs it towards JBL, who is getting assisted to the back by the former tag champs. JBL has a scowl on his face as he looks into the ring and Flair and Batista celebrating. (98%)
The camera cuts backstage to Josh Mathews who is with the World Heavyweight Champion, Edge. Edge, flanked by Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder, is asked about his title defense tonight and who he would rather face. Edge says that this title (as he taps it) is his life so he doesn't care who wins the vote because he will find a way to retain.
Just as he says that statement, 'The World's Strongest Man' Mark Henry walks into frame. Edge feels threatened but puts his arms up to hold Hawkins & Ryder back. Henry says that Edge does a lot of yapping for someone who always needs help to win. Henry says Edge better pray to god that he doesn't win the vote because it will be his last night with that gold. Henry says two titles would look good on him and smirks as he walks away. (91%) Back to the control center, Todd Grisham has the votes ready for the next contest, the Tag Team Turmoil Match for the World Tag Team Championship. One team at a time, the five units make their way out and after the Tag Champs Cryme Tyme enter, all five teams wait outside as Grisham reveals the vote. In a bit of a surprise, The World's Greatest Tag Team (Haas & Benjamin) won the vote at 32% and will be entering the gauntlet last. [Cryme Tyme 25%, London & Kendrick 21%, Cade & Murdoch 13%, and Carlito & Primo 9%]. (79%)
MATCH 5: Tag Team Turmoil Match for the World Tag Team Championship (70%, 2*)
Once Haas & Benjamin won the vote, they even looked shocked and started thanking fans in the front row. As a result of a random draw, Cade & Murdoch and London & Kendrick would begin the contest.
Kendrick and Cade started for their respective teams and Cade got the early upper hand, grounding Kendrick and not allowing him to use his speed and high-flying ability to his advantage. Cade would really bully Kendrick and get rough with him. Cade threw him into his corner and started hitting a couple of corner clotheslines before tagging in Murdoch. Murdoch stomped away at Kendrick into a seated position in the corner.
Murdoch walked over to the other corner and talked trash to London before charging and attempting a running knee to Kendrick's face but Kendrick pushed Cade away, who was trying to hold him in place, and slid out of the way in the nick of time. Murdoch limped out of the corner and Kendrick applied an inside cradle on Murdoch. 1...2...3!!!
***Cade & Murdoch eliminated by London & Kendrick at 2:13***
After just a couple of minutes, Kendrick caught Murdoch and eliminated him and Cade. Cade can not believe it as it happened so quickly and he was not able to get back in the ring to break it up. Murdoch looks absolutely shell-shocked as he pleads with Referee Jack Doan that it was a two-count. Cade starts walking away in disgust and Murdoch chases after him. The two bicker as they walk up the ramp and Carlito & Primo are the next team to enter.
The next phase between Carlito & Primo and London & Kendrick was a few minutes of high-paced, high-flying action. Carlito and London were the two in the ring at the end of their match. Carlito attempted his 'Backstabber' but London held onto the rope and Carlito went crashing down to the mat. With him in perfect position, London went to the top rope to attempt a Shooting Star Press but Primo tried to break it up.
This resulted in Primo running in the ring and as he entered, Kendrick did as well and when the two met, Kendrick used his momentum to send Primo over the top rope. Kendrick would then go off the ropes and hit a running somersault plancha to Primo on the outside. After a brief delay watching his partner do his thing, London went for the Shooting Star but Carlito got his knees up. Carlito picked London right from his knees into a pinning attempt and London, with hurt ribs, was not able to power out and Carlito & Primo eliminated London & Kendrick.
***London & Kendrick eliminated by Carlito & Primo at 8:25***
This meant the tag team champs were up next and Cryme Tyme entered the fray. After waiting for Carlito to get back to his feet and Primo to get back to the apron, JTG started the match off for Cryme Tyme. Carlito tagged in his little brother and Primo started off by taking the fight to JTG. Primo hit JTG with a monkey flip but JTG landed on his feet in a great display of athleticism. JTG would then hit an unsuspecting Primo with a clothesline and both men were down.
The crowd started clapping and stomping as both men stretched to make tags. Shad, getting the hot tag came in on fire, knocking Carlito down a couple of times in a row. Shad then planted Carlito with a sidewalk slam and then tagged JTG back in. JTG climbed on the top rope and waited for Carlito to get up and hit him with a diving crossbody. JTG attempted a pin off of that but Carlito used the momentum to roll over and get a near-fall.
After a little bit of back and forth, JTG would whip Carlito off the ropes and Primo made the tag on his brother's back as he hit the ropes. JTG hit a leg drop bulldog on Carlito and went for another cover but Referee Jack Doan informed JTG that Carlito was not the legal brother. Primo took advantage and broke up the pin before laying in boots to JTG. Primo tagged in Carlito again and brought JTG to the middle of the ring.
The brothers were looking to set up their dropkick/'Backstabber' combo and Primo gave Shad a cheap shot on the apron. Primo then charged for the dropkick but JTG sidestepped it and then hit a back elbow to Carlito, who charged at him from behind. Carlito was draped in the corner and JTG pulled off the ol' slingshot on Primo and sent him right into his brother. Carlito was knocked down and JTG went off the ropes to hit 'Da Shout Out' on Primo to get the pinfall.
***Carlito & Primo eliminated by Cryme Tyme in 12:56***
JTG put his hand up as the crowd was cheering on the tag champs. The World's Greatest Tag Team were ready to pounce but Referee Doan held them off as he wanted to give Cryme Tyme the chance to recover. However, Carlito was a poor sport and tripped and pulled JTG out of the ring. Carlito threw JTG back-first into the steel steps and The World's Greatest Tag Team took the opportunity to double-team Shad at the same time. Referee Doan tried to separate Carlito from JTG and send him to the back but in the meantime, Shad was sent face-first into the steel ring post.
Referee Doan admonished Haas & Benjamin seeing that Shad was down and told them to get in their corner. The crowd started to cheer on JTG as he crawled his way back to standing on the apron. JTG wanted to go and Referee Doan asked him if he was sure since Shad was still stirring but he shook his head and entered the ring. Haas & Benjamin smirked and couldn't believe JTG's gusto.
Haas entered the ring and JTG started like a house on fire but after building up some momentum, he went off the ropes near The World's Greatest Tag Team's corner and Benjamin put his knee up, causing JTG to run into it and fall to his knees in pain. Shad then rose up and pulled Benjamin off the apron but Benjamin landed on his feet. Benjamin went to kick Shad but Shad caught his leg. However, Benjamin turned it into his 'Dragon Whip' kick and knocked Shad down again.
Benjamin then tagged in and Haas grabbed JTG and draped him on the ropes. Benjamin went off the ropes and leaped his partner to hit their signature leapfrog stun gun to JTG. Benjamin would make the cover and The World's Greatest Tag Team used the ailing back of JTG to become the new World Tag Team Champions.
***Cryme Tyme eliminated by The World's Greatest Tag Team***
WINNERS – The World's Greatest Tag Team by pinfall in 16:02 ***NEW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS***
Haas & Benjamin grab the World Tag Titles and start celebrating while JR is upset because he believes Cryme Tyme got screwed. Replays show Carlito throwing JTG into the steel steps after beating him and his brother as well as Haas & Benjamin throwing Shad into the steel ring post. The closing sequence is shown and Cryme Tyme check on each other as they look frustrated watching The World's Greatest Tag Team rubbing it in.
The action rolls over to Joey Styles and Tazz from ECW and they talk about the feud between The Miz and Mike Knox. The duo narrate over a series of clips that show how this match came to be including the unfortunate Kelly Kelly incident. Back to Todd Grisham at the control center and he reveals the vote of what stipulation the match will be. With 42% the next match will be a Stretcher Match! [Extreme Rules 30%, Tables 28%]. (78%)
MATCH 6: The Miz vs. Mike Knox in a Stretcher Match (53%, 1*) Mike Knox's forceful music hit as the stretcher was rolled to the end of the entrance aisle. Knox was halfway down the aisle when The Miz attacked him from behind! The Miz did not wait for his music and the match was underway as Miz tried to get in as many shots as he could while Knox was trying to stumble away from him.
Knox was over by the announce tables and Miz banged his head off of it a couple of times before grabbing him and bouncing him off of the ring apron. Miz lifted the ring skirt and pulled out a kendo stick and started slugging away, hitting Knox in the back. Knox was hit all the way around the ring until he leaned on the stretcher. Miz would charge towards him and jump at him with a crossbody, knocking him over the stretcher.
Miz picked Knox right up and plopped him face down on the gurney. Miz started to roll it, trying to get it past the line but Knox got off halfway up. Miz laid in some more punches but Knox pushed Miz away. When Miz went back at Knox, Miz was flapjacked face-first off the stretcher.
Knox now had control and was in a pissed-off mood. Knox put Miz on the stretcher and ran it back towards the ring before flipping it up, sending Miz off crashing as he got near the ring. Knox then knocked the top part of the steel steps off and grabbed the bigger bottom half. Knox laid it upright with the bottom step sticking straight up. Knox would lift Miz up and hang him head-first off the steps.
Miz started to cough as he rolled around in agony, clutching his throat. Knox started yelling at Miz that “THIS IS WHAT YOU WANTED!” and then dropped down to a knee before pummeling Miz with a series of rights. With the steps still upright, Knox picked Miz up and whipped him into the stairs. The stairs made a loud crash as they hit the ground and Miz was pretty much out.
Joey Styles started to yell that this was getting out of hand and Knox wasn't finished as he removed the mats from one section of the floor. Knox picked Miz up and delivered his 'Knox Out' right to the concrete floor. Styles yelled that somebody had to stop this and Knox thankfully threw Miz's limp body on the gurney and rolled him past the line to mercifully end the match and get the victory.
WINNER – Mike Knox by rolling The Miz on a stretcher past the line in 6:51
After his hand was raised, Knox celebrated the win by taunting the fans near the railing. A bunch of road agents and medical personnel came out to tend to The Miz and for good measure, Knox shoved a few out of the way before flipping the stretcher, dumping Miz to the ground. A few road agents yelled at the move to add more salt to the wound and Knox smirked as he was escorted to the back. Next, a video package plays for the next PPV, Survivor Series!!! The show will take place in three weeks from the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida. (94%)

MATCH 7: Edge (c) w/Hawkins & Ryder vs. Chris Jericho for the World Heavyweight Championship (92%, 4*)
After Tony Chimel made the match announcement and Referee Nick Patrick held the World Title in the air, he rang the bell and the championship match was underway. Edge and Jericho circled each other and treaded carefully reaching out at each other with their hands.
After a lock-up, Y2J would gain the upper hand and drive Edge back into the corner and Edge poked his head through the ropes. Edge called on Referee Patrick to back Jericho up and after eventually listening to the ref, Jericho backed off. The two started jawing at each other as they circled each other again. Edge looked as if he was ready but when it appeared they were gonna lock up again, Edge quickly went through the ropes and started consulting with Hawkins & Ryder.
Jericho puts his hands up and says something to Referee Patrick and after getting “words of wisdom,” Edge enters back in the ring. The two locked up and started a standard chain of moves, culminating in Y2J hitting Edge with a hip toss. Jericho held Edge's arm in a seated armbar and after a brief struggle, Edge got to his feet and countered into a hammerlock. Y2J pulled off a standing switch and got behind Edge and hit a sleeper slam.
Jericho went for a cover but Edge kicked out right away at two. Y2J then went right for the legs and Edge scurried away right out of the ring, not wanting to even come close to being put in the 'Walls of Jericho.' This time Jericho didn't wait and went out after Edge. Ryder decided to get Referee Patrick's attention and this allowed Hawkins to get in the way when Jericho chased Edge by him.
Hawkins blindsided Y2J with a clothesline and Patrick did not see, being hung up on Ryder. Edge took advantage of the interference and started laying boots to Y2J while Hawkins put his hands up and walked away when Referee Patrick inquired if he was getting involved. Edge rolled Jericho back into the ring and hung Y2J's head over the edge of the ring. Edge would hit a running boot to Jericho's face before entering the ring and applying a chinlock.
Edge kept the hold in for a bit until the crowd started to raise the volume, allowing Jericho to feed off their energy. Jericho got to his feet and separated from Edge with a couple of midsection elbows. Jericho then chopped Edge in the chest, sending him back into the corner. Jericho lifted Edge and seated him on the top rope but when he went to climb the ropes himself, Edge punched him backward.
Edge then tried to hit a double-axe handle off the top rope but Y2J caught him with a dropkick. Jericho then waited for Edge to get up and attempted to hit his 'Codebreaker' but Edge caught Y2J in the air and flapjacked him off the ropes. Edge then got in position for his Spear but Y2J leapfrogged and avoided the Spear, causing Edge to fall face-first into the middle turnbuckle.
Edge got back to his feet and charged at Jericho only to get hit with a 'Codebreaker.' Edge would pop up but fall through the top and middle ropes and Jericho couldn't believe it as he tried to grab his arm before he hit the ground. Hawkins & Ryder then checked on their mentor and tried to help him get up. Hawkins grabbed a water bottle and comically poured some on Edge's head, making him come to.
Edge then pointed to the timekeeper's area and Ryder went over and grabbed the World Heavyweight Championship. The crowd started booing as Edge, Hawkins, and Ryder started to head up the entrance aisle. Jericho tried to go out but Referee Patrick held him back as the trio got halfway up the aisle. Jericho then had a look of defeat on his face knowing his chance to win the title was gone as Patrick started to count.
Edge turned around and smirked at Y2J as he held the championship up. Patrick was at a count of four when...
*GONG*
The smiles on Edge, Hawkins, and Ryder turn into concern before a second gong plays. This time the lights go out and the crowd pops as Michael Cole is going nuts.
The lights are back on and The Undertaker is standing behind the trio. Edge slowly turns around and sees 'The Deadman' before yelling at Hawkins & Ryder to go after him. They do but Ryder runs into a right hand and 'Taker grabs a hold of Hawkins by the throat and hits a chokeslam as he looks at Edge.
'Taker then walks towards Edge and Edge starts retreating backwards. Jericho had broken the count and met Edge at the end of the aisle and threw him back into the ring. Edge tried to catch Jericho with a clothesline when Jericho got back in the ring but Y2J ducked and then flipped Edge on his back. Jericho locked in the 'Walls of Jericho!” Edge is scratching and clawing to try and get to the ropes.
Edge starts to get very close but Jericho re-adjusts and pulls him away. After a brief struggle, Jericho turns Edge over again, and 'The Rated 'R' Superstar' has nowhere to go. Edge's facial expression is of anguish as he fights the urge to tap. After one final desperate attempt to break the hold, Edge taps out! Chris Jericho has become the World Champion!
WINNER – Chris Jericho by submission in 16:37 ***NEW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION***
The crowd goes nuts as “Break The Walls Down” plays and Y2J is awarded with the big gold belt. Referee Nick Patrick raises one arm and then Jericho starts getting hyped in the ring. Jericho puts it around his waist and climbs the top turnbuckle to point at the fans. Jericho then looks at the top of the entrance aisle where The Undertaker is still standing. Jericho has a confused look on his face but 'Taker just stands there as Edge starts to realize he's lost the title. Edge, sitting up against the ring on the outside, slaps the mat and looks at 'Taker with a pissed-off look as the camera fades.
JR and King then pick up the audio as shots of the Nation's Capital is shown, including the White House. A graphic then pops up for the Main Event as John Cena will defend his WWE Championship. But who will it be against? The action is turned to Todd Grisham for the final time tonight as he gets ready to reveal the final vote. But before he can...
MISTERRRRRRRRRRR KENNEDYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!
“Turn Up The Trouble” hits and Mr. Kennedy tells Grisham to hold on. Kennedy says he knows he's won the fan vote so Grisham doesn't even have to show it. Kennedy tells the crowd that it's time for a change and that change is that the new WWE Champion at the end of the night will be...
Before he can say it the titantron makes a computer noise and displays the voting results. Todd Grisham says with 45% of the vote, 'The Heartbreak Kid' Shawn Michaels will face John Cena! [Kennedy 34%, King Booker 21%]. Kennedy looks perplexed and as “Sexy Boy” hits it finally hits Kennedy that he has lost the vote. HBK comes out for his entrance and playfully rubs it in to Kennedy who drops the mic in anger. Michaels gets on his knees to set off his pyro and then spins around to make sure Kennedy isn't going to attack him from behind but Kennedy decides to call it a night and walks to the back. (99%)
***MAIN EVENT*** MATCH 8: John Cena (c) vs. Shawn Michaels for the WWE Championship (94%, 4.5*)
“My Time Is Now” then hits and the WWE Champ, John Cena makes his entrance. After getting in the ring, Lillian Garcia makes the match announcements, and after Mike Chioda lifts up the title and rings the bell, the crowd starts cheering in anticipation of the trilogy. After about a minute of just soaking up the atmosphere with dueling chants for both, Cena and Michaels come face-to-face and then shake hands.
Both men back into their corners and Cena is shadowboxing as the two circle each other. A slow-paced run of chain wrestling started the contest with both men getting shine early. After a couple of minutes of feeling each other out, they lock up again but HBK puts in a hammerlock on Cena and then chops him in the chest, knocking him down.
Cena, surprised by the move, looks at HBK and then gets back up. Cena puts HBK in a side headlock and then HBK sends Cena off the ropes but Cena counters with his signature flying shoulder block. HBK tries to land a right but Cena ducks and hits his spin-out powerbomb. It's super early but Cena does the '5 Knuckle Shuffle' taunt but as he bends down to do it, HBK flings his leg up and kicks Cena in the face.
Cena stumbles backward, holding his face, and then charges at HBK after shaking off the cobwebs. Unfortunately, Cena runs right into an inverted Atomic Drop. Michaels then puts his left hand on top of Cena's head and knocks him down with a straight right hand. HBK then lifts one of Cena's legs and drops an elbow to the inside of his leg. HBK continues to work on the leg, trying to zap Cena of his foundation.
After working on his leg for a bit, HBK picked up Cena and went for a vertical suplex but Cena blocked with his good leg and turned it into a Fisherman's Suplex. Cena kept the bridge and got a near fall. HBK got to his feet and was bent over when Cena went off the ropes to hit his 'Throwback' running neck snap. Cena then signaled for the 'F-U' but when he lifted HBK, Michaels squirmed off and then hit a back suplex.
HBK went to the top rope and hit his signature diving elbow drop. After a few moments of both men being down, HBK kipped up and the crowd was cheering him on. HBK went into the corner and started to “tune up the band.” Cena got up and HBK went to hit 'Sweet Chin Music' but Cena caught his leg.
Cena spun Michaels around and then booted him in the gut. Cena then whipped HBK into the ropes hard and HBK bounced off, holding his back, while Cena went off the ropes and hit his running one-handed bulldog. Cena then signaled for the '5 Knuckle Shuffle' again and hit it. HBK rose to his feet and Cena lifted him up for an 'F-U.'
Cena flipped HBK over but Shawn landed on his feet like a cat and then caught Cena with a flash 'Sweet Chin Music!' HBK was not able to capitalize as both men stayed down and by the time Michaels draped an arm over Cena, the champ just got his shoulder up at the last moment.
Referee Mike Chioda started a count and at 7 both men started to stir. The two got to their feet and started trading rights but when Cena dodged one from HBK, he hit him with a drop toehold and attempted to put him in the 'STFU.' HBK was frantically moving around, trying to prevent Cena from locking it in but eventually, Cena's strength won over and HBK was in trouble.
Cena wrenched back on HBK's head as Michaels reached out with both hands, trying to crawl his way to the bottom rope. After it looked like he may be out, Referee Chioda lifted Michaels' arm but HBK did not let it hit the ground and he gained a second wind. HBK fought his way to the bottom rope and Cena could not believe it as Chioda told him to break.
Cena started to ponder what it would take to put HBK away and went to the top rope. As soon as HBK started to get up, Cena jumped off the top rope and hit a leg drop over the back of HBK's head. Cena made the cover but got another near-fall. JR started going crazy, saying HBK would not go down, and King was in astonishment. Cena waited for HBK and lifted him up again for an 'F-U' but yet again Michaels countered it, this time sliding behind Cena and turning it into a sitout pin attempt.
Cena was almost beaten but just got out at 2.9. Both men got up quickly and Cena was able to catch Michaels with a flash 'F-U.' Cena made the cover and got the three count as he was finally able to put away 'The Heartbreak Kid' to retain the WWE Championship.
WINNER – John Cena by pinfall in 20:28
Cena's music hits as the crowd is giving the match a standing ovation. Cena is handed the title and raises it high before resting in the corner. Replays of the match are shown and then when the shot comes back to the ring, HBK is starting to get up. Michaels gets up and turns around to look at Cena. The two share a stare before they meet in the middle of the ring. After a small staredown, Cena extends his hand. HBK is clearly frustrated with the loss but after not initially accepting the handshake, Michaels shakes Cena's hand and then raises it. HBK then exits and gives the ring to Cena and Cena continues to celebrate as the PPV fades to black.
