Quick note: I forgot to mention it, but Nash's jacknife is not allowed anymore after he injured Giant at Starrcade. THIS DOESN'T MEAN HE HITS IT EVERY WEEK AND GETS ARRESTED/FINED EVERY WEEK, IT MAKES NO SENSE. Nash is mad at Bischoff, because he can't do nothing to help him on this as he's not in power anymore, plus Ted DiBiase and his money are gone. Nash gets annoyed and the whole nWo at the moment is shaking
WCW SuperBrawl 22.02.1998San Francisco, CA
1. WCW Cruiserweight Title: Chris Jericho (c) def. Juventud Guerrera (12 mins) Jericho is now the champion and he acts a lot like his true 1998 self, turning heel and becoming a real egomaniac, most of it worked really well for WCW and it was fresh for the cruiserweight division. While Malenko vows to beat his former friend, it’s Juventud to step up and get a shot while Jericho mocks him continuously. Juventus shines as a babyface and gets really close to winning, but Jericho holds his tights and manages to retain the title with a roll up
2. WCW World Tag Team Titles: The Steiner Brothers (c) def. Public Enemy, The Faces of Fear and Chris Adams & Fit Finlay (w/ Bobby Eaton) (10 mins) The tag division is not really at its peak, as all the teams here are quite seasoned. The Blue Bloods are a bit fresher, this time Finlay decides to fight and team with Adams to make their quest stronger. I’m not particularly digging this line up, but things are looking up for the division soon and so it’s fine. Finlay looks strong, but Adams lets him down a bit and the Steiners retain when Rick pins Rock with a top rope bulldog
3. Dean Malenko def. Psychosis (w/ Eddie Guerrero and Chavo Guerrero Jr.) (11 mins) So, Malenko is looking for a title shot to finally put his hands on Jericho, but he needs to go through Psychosis first. In the weeks leading to the PPV, Chavo starts gravitating around his uncle Eddie and Eddie keeps getting more and more frustrated. They also show up in the corner of Psychosis here, which is in line with the long feud between Eddie and Malenko. However, Malenko overcomes the odds and wins the match with a powerbomb
4. Raven (w/ Madusa, Saturn, Kanyon and Kidman) def. Booker T (12 mins) Raven is still in contention for the US Title, as Benoit didn’t beat him at Souled Out, but his group of outcasts keeps messing with Booker. Raven says that, well, Booker is an outcast too and Booker doesn’t take this well, as he’s been fighting against prejudices for his whole life and career. Booker will definitely get a push, but now I need Raven to be hot and go back to the US Title ranking, so the Flock interferes and Raven wins the match with a DDT
5. Goldberg def. Rick Martel (3 mins) Martel is on his way out, so I’ll use him one last time on PPV to put Goldberg over. Since his debut at Starrcade, Goldberg is undefeated, but he missed Souled Out because he’s not a main star yet and you can expect him to skip a few PPVs. Still, he’s starting with low/midcarders and always goes over. Martel makes fun of him being bald, but Goldberg dominates him and wins quickly with the jackhammer. Again, Goldberg refuses to cut any promo after winning a match
6. WCW United States Title: Diamond Dallas Page (w/ Kimberly) def. Chris Benoit (c) (17 mins) I loved DDP back then and it’s a shame that he was relegated to the US Title after such a great 1997, but he was clearly behind Sting, Bret, Luger and Flair as a babyface (plus Nash turned face and Goldberg blew up, so I get it). This match ruled and I’m definitely running it. It’s a babyface vs babyface match, so lots of good competitiveness. They team up against the Flock at times, Benoit wants to destroy Raven, while DDP says he has history with him and is trying to actually fix Raven. Benoit takes Page to the limit, but DDP hits the cutter and wins the title 7. Bret Hart, Ric Flair & Lex Luger def. Kevin Nash, Randy Savage & Curt Hennig (w/ Elizabeth) (13 mins)
As we have experienced, the nWo is having problems and JJ Dillon wants to capitalize on it and here the heel trio faces 3 of WCW top wrestlers. Hart and Hennig start a feud, as Hennig claims that he always outwrestled Bret in New York. Luger wants revenge on Nash for injuring Giant. Flair and Savage renew their feud as Macho has now lost his mind. Plus, Luger is not really happy about Bret being with WCW now, while the nWo doesn’t really trust Savage. This has some potential, Flair wins with a small package on Savage
8. WCW World Heavyweight Title: Sting (c) def. Scott Hall (w/ Eric Bischoff) (15 mins) Hogan is still not around after Starrcade now, after Nash failed, it’s Hall’s chance to get a title shot. So far, the Outsiders have always been united and loyal to each other, more than loyal to the nWo itself. However, here Hall accepts for Bischoff to help him and that irritates Nash, who pledged to win the title at Souled Out without any help from anybody. Sting is still the champion, unfortunately not talking makes him a great predator but not a great pray, but he was so hot that he can have a decent reign. They had a pretty good match in real life in 1998, Bischoff’s run in doesn’t go well and Sting retains with the deathdrop

WCW Uncensored 15.03.1998 Mobile, AL
1. Booker T def. Eddie Guerrero (w/ Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Psychosis) (12 mins) Both guys want to build some momentum. Booker just lost to Raven, but he is still not finished with the Flock, while Eddie is forming a little Mexican gang (more on this later) and seems intentioned to change the WCW status quo. Chavo and Psychosis are on his side, but for now the other Mexican guys are not interested. This is a first time ever, Eddie has a chip on his shoulder and makes some mistakes, so Booker takes advantage of them and wins with the scissor kick
2. WCW World Tag Team Titles: Davey Boy Smith & Fit Finlay (w/ Bobby Eaton, Chris Adams and Dave Taylor) def. The Steiner Brothers (c) (10 mins) Finlay is still fighting for the pride of UK & Ireland, hyping for weeks the arrival of the greatest British wrestler ever. So Davey shows up and, while he doesn’t have much time left, he was still good enough to run this angle and tag with Finlay, thus helping a tag team division that was definitely on its ass in 1998. With Davey’s experience and the numbers game, the Blue Bloods do really well here and also win the titles when Rick is hit by a low blow and a powerslam from Smith
3. WCW Cruiserweight Title: Chris Jericho (c) def. Dean Malenko (14 mins) Jericho is on a roll, he makes fun of Malenko with the 1004 holds promo and for the fact that Malenko cannot beat him. Malenko, on the other hand, guarantees he will indeed finally defeat Jericho, to stop his disrespect and end his reign. However, Jericho cheats any way he can and manages to get the pinfall after hitting Malenko with the title and then finishing him with the lionsault. After the match, Malenko removes his boots and leaves them in the ring, teasing his retirement
4. Bret Hart def. Curt Hennig (13 mins) This is not 1991 or 1993, but this was still a good match in 1998. Hennig has been chosen as the nWo’s weapon to get rid of Bret and get revenge for what the did at Starrcade, as he knows him well and he wants to capitalize on his body breaking down with time. Bret sees this as just another roadblock on his way to a title shot and remembers that, also in New York, his career skyrocketed after defeating Hennig. Hennig cheats quite a bit to stop the Hitman, but Bret wins with the sharpshooter
5. The Outsiders draw Lex Luger & The Giant by DQ (10 mins) During a nWo argument on Nitro, with Nash and Hall actually also arguing, Giant makes his return since Starrcade and attacks Nash. Giant cuts a promo on Nash trying to destroy his career and so he will destroy his now. The tag match is sanctioned, we already saw it in 1997, but with the jacknife angle this has a different layer now. Now actually Giant wants to jacknife Nash (he’s too angry to be rational and doesn’t think about the consequences as the move is not allowed), but Luger stops Giant for his own good. They argue as well and a furious 4 men brawl starts, so this ends by double DQ
6. WCW United States Title: Diamond Dallas Page (c) (w/ Kimberly) def. Chris Benoit and Raven (w/ Madusa, Saturn, Kanyon and Kidman) (15 mins) So, DDP and Benoit have this friendly and competitive rivalry and Benoit wants a rematch after Superbrawl. Then, Benoit wants to destroy the Flock for targeting him for months. Also, DDP tries to bring Raven away from the dark side, but Raven doesn’t want to change. This was a great triple threat, so of course it stays on my card. Benoit saves DDP from losing with a diving headbutt on Raven, but DDP hits the weak Benoit with a cutter to retain the title
7. #1 Contender: Randy Savage (w/ Elizabeth) def. Ric Flair (13 mins) While their 1995 feud was competitive and their 1996 feud was about the title, this one goes a bit beyond that. Macho is out of control, he’s too crazy for the nWo too so he’s by himself most of the time. Flair, as usual, is not afraid of anyone and punches himself to bleed to show Savage that he can get crazy as well. They both seem ready to do anything to get a shot, which should add decent drama as the match won’t be as good as their previous ones. Savage actually uses Liz as a shield and pins Flair with the flying elbowdrop
8. WCW World Heavyweight Title Steel Cage Match: Sting (c) def. Hollywood Hogan (12 mins) So, Hogan comes back after Superbrawl and attacks Sting by himself. Hogan is disappointed for the nWo not helping him and also losing control of Nitro at Starrcade, of course he’s also mad at Bret Hart for screwing him. He will fix everything, but first thing first, he will get his title back. JJ Dillon books a cage match to stop any interference. This match wouldn’t be great of course, but at least there are no shenanigans and it’s still the rematch of the biggest WCW match ever. Sting hits the stinger splash on all 4 corners, to barely leave the cage before Hogan and retains the title

WCW Spring Stampede 19.04.1998 Denver, CO
1. WCW Cruiserweight Title vs. Mask: Chris Jericho (c) def. Juventud Guerrera (14 mins) Juvi pushes to get a rematch against Jericho, who is happy to face him as long as Juvi puts his mask on the line. This was a controversial stipulation, but I think it actually enhanced Juvi’s career rather than hurting it, which is not what happened with Rey Mysterio. Juvi does all he can and goes so close to winning the title, but Jericho blocks the 450 splash by using the referee as a shield and manages to retain with the lionsault. Juvi has to unmask after the match
2. Yuji Nagata & Ultimo Dragon def. Chavo Guerrero Jr. & Psychosis (w/ Eddie Guerrero) (8 mins) So, Nagata and Dragon put their differences behind and form a tag team. Apart from helping the bad state of the tag division, I think they would have been a decent duo, plus it gives them something to do. They face the little Mexican squad that Eddie has assembled so far, as both guys want to get higher in the card. Eddie is disappointed with Chavo, who does well but gets beaten by Dragon after a dragon sleeper in the middle of the ring
3. Goldberg def. The Barbarian (3 mins) Meng and Barbarian are not really impressed by Goldberg’s streak and start messing with him, in a little angle that sees no promos, but just big men roaring at each other. With Meng “suspended” after a furious brawl that saw him putting the grip on a referee, Goldberg is facing Barbarian here. This also helps establishing him as a babyface. As predictable, Goldberg is super dominant and squashes Barbarian with the jackhammer
4. Booker T & Chris Benoit def. Saturn & Kanyon (w/ Flock) (10 mins) Benoit and Booker join forces here, they are both in the US Title contention and antagonising Raven. With Raven busy, here they meet the Flock and this is also a first good taste of Saturn and especially Kanyon, while Kidman is in their corner. While they are not “real” teams, I think this would be quite nice to watch. Booker and Benoit find some unexpected chemistry and Benoit beats Kanyon with the crossface to win the match
5. WCW United States Title Raven’s Rules Match: Raven (w/ Flock) def. Diamond Dallas Page (c) (13 mins) Raven finally has his title shot on his own conditions: one on one and in a No DQ match basically. DDP was trying to help him, revealing that they go way back, but at one point Raven fell out of touch and started acting weird because of his addictions. Finally, they meet here and I dug the original match. All the Flock interfere, Benoit and Booker make the save, but Raven kicks DDP low and pins him after a DDT to win the title
6. WCW World Tag Team Titles: Davey Boy Smith & Fit Finlay (c) def. The Steiner Brothers by DQ (5 mins) The Steiners are really upset about Smith and Finlay stealing the titles from them, but the rematch is here and there is no way out. As expected, the brothers go all out and furiously try to get the belts back from the European duo. To milk this angle, Scott pushes away the referee right before pinning Finlay with the belly to belly suplex, but the referee disqualifies the Steiners for a typical Dusty finish, so the Blue Bloods retain
7. #1 Contender Jeopardy Battle Royal: Bret Hart def. Ric Flair, The Giant, Lex Luger, Kevin Nash and Hollywood Hogan (15 mins) I got a lotsof 40+ years old stars and I am putting a lot of them in the same match, using all the dynamics they have ongoing: WCW vs nWo, Nash and Hogan not in great terms, Luger jealous of Bret, Giant wants to kill Nash, Flair hates Hogan, Bret wants the title etc. This is a normal battle royal, with the stipulation that the winner will get a title shot and the runner up won’t have title shots for the whole year, to make it more risky. Giant still wants to jacknife Nash and so he’s taken away from the match. Luger eliminates Flair by mistake, but then Hogan throws him out. It’s Nash and Hogan against Bret, who mostly wants Hogan, but Nash also looks at Hogan in a weird way and so Hogan decides to eliminate himself before they can lock up. Nash sees this as a betrayal. It’s Bret vs Nash, now with all or nothing on the line, and Bret eliminates Nash to win the title shot
8. WCW World Heavyweight Title: Sting (c) def. Randy Savage (12 mins) Sting has been defending the title against nWo members, but now it’s a different game because Savage has gone crazy and is obsessed with the title, to the point that his own stable doesn’t want anything to do with him anymore (but I’m not doing the Hogan vs Savage storyline again here, it’s redundant). To prove his 100% character change, Savage again shields behind Liz, so she gets hit by a baseball bat shot from Sting. Sting himself is touched by this, but Macho doesn’t care. Liz is written out of TV and Savage claims that, without her stopping him, nothing ever will (even at his WWF peak, he would treat Liz bad, but always protect her at least, so that is new for him). Their real 1998 match wasn’t anything special, but it’s still a marquee line up and Savage can get a shot on his way out at least. Sting hits Savage with a baseball bat and then pins him with the scorpion deathdrop

WCW Slamboree 17.05.1998 Worcester, MA
1. The Steiner Brothers def. Saturn & Kanyon and Yuji Nagata & Ultimo Dragon (12 mins) The Steiners are trying to get back to title contention after their recent loss. On the other side, Saturn and Kanyon are obsessed about making Raven proud, while Nagata & Dragon would have hopefully made a decent impression as a new team. While it’s not a tag team golden age anymore, at least this should be some kind of intriguing. The Steiners get some momentum back and win after Scott pins Dragon with a belly to belly suplex
2. Goldberg def. Meng (5 min) Once Barbiarian has been defeated, Goldberg sets his sight on Meng. Goldberg starts gradually cutting a few really short promos: while somebody like Hogan/Flair would talk for 3 minutes, Goldberg would talk for 10 seconds; short and sweet, just like his matches. Meng is a tough challenger and he applies the grip on Goldberg during the match, but Goldberg breaks it (first time ever) and hits the spear and jackhammer to win the match once again
3. #1 Contender Battle Royal: Ciclope def. Eddie Guerrero, Chavo Guerrero Jr. Damien, El Dandy, Juventud Guerrera, Psychosis, Silver King, Super Calo and Villano IV (10 mins) Like in reality, a battle royal is booked to face Jericho for the cruiserweight title. All the participants are Mexicans, which infuriates Eddie, as he’s starting to be really loud about how his people are always relegated to the little guys division. Eddie is getting some allies: Psychosis, Chavo, Dandy and King are already on his side. Eddie is left with Ciclope and Ciclope pretends eliminating himself out of respect, but then dropkicks Eddie to eliminate him…
4. WCW Cruiserweight Title: Dean Malenko def. Chris Jericho (c) (8 mins) … so now, Ciclope unmasks to reveal he’s Dean Malenko. Eddie is furious about his old friend screwing him, while Jericho is scared because Malenko is back with a vengeance. This was a good angle, hopefully I made it even better with the Mexican angle ramification. This was a good match that had such a good feeling about it. Jericho tries to get disqualified or counted out, but finally Malenko brainbusters him and wins the title back
5. WCW World Tag Team Titles: Davey Boy Smith & Fit Finlay (c) def. The Outsiders (10 mins) The Blue Bloods have the biggest test of their whole life, as they are facing the Outsiders. Hall is back from rehab and, while I wouldn’t do the drunk angle, we can address this as part of the reason why the Outsiders have been arguing: Nash needs to keep working and making money, he’s a dad now, while Hall just wants to party forever. They do well here, but Giant interferes and Nash fights him in the crowd. Smith rolls up Hall to shockingly retain, as Hall seems to be a bad version of himself
6. Randy Savage def. Ric Flair by DQ (13 mins) Savage and Flair have been feuding for a bit now and Savage goes even crazier after failing to win the World Title at the last PPV, he starts attacking referees, announcers etc. and is definitely out of control. Flair says he risked it all to help WCW get back in power, so he won’t let Macho destroy it now. In storyline, JJ Dillon warns Flair about Macho, Flair still takes the match and it ends by DQ after they both start bleeding all over the place. This is not over yet and this is build the rematch
7. WCW United States Title Raven Rules Match: Chris Benoit def. Raven (c) (w/ Flock) and Diamond Dallas Page (w/ Kimberly) (15 mins) DDP and Benoit are starting to have issues with one another, which all plays in Raven’s favour. Raven keeps stirring it, talking about how DDP played friends with Benoit but took advantage of him and how Benoit can’t be trusted around women anyway. This is the triple threat rematch, with Raven rules, so basically No DQ. The whole Flock interfere and fights DDP and Benoit. Raven wants to DDT Benoit, but Benoit reverses it to a crossface and Raven, after laughing and seeming to enjoy the pain, taps out so Benoit wins the title and finally beats Raven
8. WCW World Heavyweight Title: Sting (c) def. Bret Hart (20 mins) This is a dream match and, even though 1998 WCW was garbage, they had too much on their plate: with this gimmick Sting is a great predator, not a great prey; they get blamed for not putting the title on Hart, but they just crowned Sting, Goldberg is blowing up (and in hindsight, Bret can’t even do Starrcade because he gets injured), the politics etc. It’s hard rebooking it, so it was even harder booking it. Anyway, Bret and Sting are two babyfaces here and Bret makes a few comments about helping Sting beating Hogan at Starrcade, but his help ends now. Bret acts heelish, but it’s just some mind games to get emotion out of Sting. Sting hands Bret the bat and turns his back on him, but Bret instead of hitting him or giving him the bat back, leaves the ring with the bat, like he is considering it. The match is built around Bret possibly turning to screw Sting. Bret is in the deathlock and reaches for the bat, but then decides not to use it and so taps out after a couple of minutes. Bret and Sting shake hands, but Bret is clearly upset

WCW The Great American Bash 14.06.1998 Baltimore, MD
1. WCW United States Title: Chris Benoit (c) draws Booker T by CO (13 mins) Benoit is finally the US champion again and Booker, after a successful start as a singles wrestlers, gets his title shot. They tagged against the Flock and are babyfaces, but they are not best friends. Their 1998 series was great and I want to emulate it, so this match will basically be the start of everything. Benoit hits one of his dives on Booker, but it goes wrong. Benoit is knocked out cold and Booker can’t drag him to the ring, so the match ends in a double countout
2. Eddie Guerrero & Chavo Guerrero Jr. def. Juventus Guerrera & Psychosis (10 mins) Eddie is now openly against the WCW regime after the battle royal: not only his people were segregated, but also the only non Mexican guy in disguise was allowed to win! Eddie forms the lWo and starts handing out t-shirts. Juvi is against it, while Psychosis, after siding with Eddie at the beginning, has second thoughts. They have this match and Eddie wins it when he pins Psychosis with a brainbuster. Eddie convinces Psychosis to join lWo, then hands Juvi a t-shirt too, but Juvi refuses
3. WCW Cruiserweight Title I Quit Match: Dean Malenko (c) def. Chris Jericho (15 mins) The Jericho/Malenko angle died after Slamboree for me, the conspiracy crap was too much really, but I do agree that the feud needs a blowoff. Jericho protests as Malenko didn’t sign up to the Battle Royal and never defeated him in an officially signed match, so JJ books an I Quit Match to settle the score. Also, adding this stipulation helps the division quite a bit and this is a 7/8 months feud that needs a proper end. It’s a long battle, Malenko applies the cloverleaf and retains when Jericho quits
4. WCW World Tag Team Titles: Saturn & Kanyon def. Davey Boy Smith & Fit Finlay (c), Yuji Nagata & Ultimo Dragon and The Steiner Brothers (11 mins) The Steiners were looking for a title shot after the last PPV, but then they lose against Saturn and Kanyon on Nitro and so JJ Dillon reinvents the wheel, booking these 4 teams in the ring together. Scott is furious, but Rick manages to calm him down, we start to see a meaner side of Scott. This match should be a good one, lots of different styles and good workers. The Flock shocks the world when Kanyon dives on all the other participants and Saturn hits the ring of Saturn on Finlay to win the titles
5. Steel Cage Raven Rules Match: Diamond Dallas Page def. Raven (13 mins) While the Flock leaves with the Tag Team Titles, Raven makes his way down the ring and his look is strangely not filled with pride: it’s almost resentment, for them actually daring to chase gold rather then helping him here, because it’s a cage match with DDP and Raven has no help anymore. Even Kidman, who tries to help, jumps from the top of the cage but gets hit with a cutter (a la Orton and Bourne). Raven has no way out here and DDP finally his hitm with the cutter to win and end the feud
6. Powerbomb vs Powerbomb Match: Kevin Nash def. The Giant (8 mins) Since Nash injured Giant at Starrcade, Giant took some time off due to injury and returned with the sole goal of powerbombing Nash and ending his career (like Nash tried to do against him). Finally, after a few months of multi men matches, we have this blowoff. The powerbomb is legal for this match only and you can only pin your opponent after using it. This is short, as it wouldn’t be great. Luger interferes while the ref is KO and he hit Giant by mistake, so Nash powerbombs Giant and wins again
7. Career vs. Career Street Fight Special Referee Roddy Piper: Ric Flair def. Randy Savage (13 mins)
The Flair/Savage saga is coming to an end when a bloody Flair cuts one of his classic promos, saying that Savage made it personal and he will put his career on the line if Savage does the same. JJ Dillon chooses Piper as a referee, knowing that Hot Rod had issues with both of them and Piper promises to call it down the middle (even if he's closer to Flair). The match gets bloody and we show Liz in the crowd but, differently than what she did at ‘Mania 7, she is done with Macho and leaves when he asks for help. Flair hits Savage with a chair and pins him to end his career
8. WCW World Heavyweight Title: Hollywood Hogan def. Sting (c) and Bret Hart (12 mins) As discussed during the previous PPV, this gets tricky. Sting had a good 6 months reign in my timeline, against with good opponents and a bit of fresh air in the main event after the previous 18 months dominated by the nWo. Bret is an added value, still on form and over, but he was here at the wrong time and he can’t even do Starrcade, he belongs on top but not now. So, Hogan gets another run; he was still over and they managed to draw well, even with their crap creative. Plus, he's dropping the title to a babyface and it makes sense. This can be billed as the biggest triple threat ever. We know the Hogan and Sting feud; Sting and Bret just wrestled and things are not fully clear; Hogan and Bret have a good feud in them, for what happened in 1993, but in the mean time Bret costed Hogan the title at Starrcade. Luger again interferes and grabs the baseball bat that Bret again refuses to use. Sting looks at Luger, almost daring him, and Luger hits his best friend on the head with the bat, so Hogan can pin him and win the title back

WCW Bash At The Beach 12.07.1998 San Diego, CA
1. WCW United States Title Best Of 7 Match #1: Chris Benoit (c) def. Booker T (15 mins) After GAB, JJ Dillon books the best of 7 series. To keep it realistic, I will spread the matches instead of doing them every week like all the companies do; Benoit will keep defending the title against other guys in the meantime and, if he loses it, the series will continue without the title on the line (and whoever wins the series will have the next shot). Anyway, the first match takes place here and Booker this time tries not to care too much about his opponent. Booker however rolls Benoit in the ring instead of taking a countout victory and Benoit rolls him up to get the victory
2. Juventud Guerrera def. Billy Kidman and Psychosis (7 mins) We’ll see below what happens with Raven, because Kidman broke free and says that he’s by himself now. He wants to wrestle and for too long he believed that helping Raven would help him, but Raven only cares about himself. So Kidman gets his full name, clean haircut and gear, and starts to wrestle. Juvi and Psychosis, as we have seen, are feuding with the lWo backing Psychosis. Juvi wins with the juvi driver on Kidman, who looked impressive anyway on his PPV debut
3. WCW World Tag Team Titles: Saturn & Kanyon (c) def. Ultimo Dragon & Yuji Nagata (11 mins) Dragon and Nagata get a title shot, in a match that is unique by 1998 standerds and would have never been on anyone’s radar as a World Tag Team Title match just a few months earlier. After winning the belts, Saturn and Kanyon are not congratulated by Raven, who blames them for being selfish. Kanyon is apologetic, but Saturn is actually angry at Raven and tells him to stop being a d*ck, it’s the first time somebody in the Flock stands up to him. Kanyon hits the flatiner on Dragon to retain
4. No Disqualification Match: Rey Mysterio Jr. def. Chris Jericho (13 mins) Mysterio comes back from the injury that Jericho caused and attacks him, so Jericho is now catching up with all the wrestlers that he abused in the last 6 months and he’s not really enjoying it. Eddie confronts Mysterio, as they also have an open feud, but Mysterio for now is only focused on Jericho. This should be a good match, Rey Rey gets to shine on his comeback and gets revenge. I’m copying WWE, using the 619 as a finisher now, before Mysterio pins Jericho with the springboard leg drop
5. WCW Cruiserweight Title 2/3 Falls Match: Dean Malenko (c) def. Eddie Guerrero (17 mins) Speaking of Eddie, him and Malenko face off once again, as it’s a 3 years feud that pops up every now and then (like Bret and Shawn). Eddie is so upset at Malenko faking to be a Mexican to win a title shot, but Malenko says he stood up for himself against Jericho, while Eddie is using all the Mexicans to do his dirty work. They have a 2/3 falls, I mean it's this two and it’s what they do best. It’s 1-1 and Eddie gets close to winning, but Malenko uses a small package and retains
6. Lex Luger & The Outsiders def. Ric Flair, Sting & Bret Hart (14 mins) So, Luger is now officially in the nWo after the 2 GAB turns on his friends Giant and Sting, he explains it by saying that for the last year he has played second fiddle to them. Luger points out how he was instrumental in WCW getting the company back at Starrcade, plus fighting nWo weekly while Sting walked away, but he never got appreciated for it. The nWo is getting some momentum after a weak start of 1998, so they win another one here. Luger has now stolen the bat and uses it to hit Flair, so Nash pins him. BTW, important detail: Sting and Luger never lay a hand on each other
7. Goldberg def. Raven (1 min) As we saw above, Raven has been left alone. While his guys are just living their life and trying to have a career, Raven says that he thought they were his disciple, but at the end they used him just like everyone else uses everyone else in life. When his match against Goldberg is booked, Raven sees it as a salvation, as he will take the “being next” as a blessing and be put out of his misery. Raven opens his arms after the bell, almost welcoming the speak and jackhammer, and Goldberg wins
8. Hollywood Hogan & Dennis Rodman def. Diamond Dallas Page & Karl Malone (15 mins) Again, this is in my list of “things I don’t like, but drew quite well, so let’s do it anyway”. Rodman and Malone talk trash about each other, they get TV coverage, Rodman is in the nWo, Malone and DDP are friends etc. I don’t really care, honestly. With DDP winning the Raven feud and Hogan as the champion, I am building for a title match here and this will be a decent skirmish. Also, they don’t need 25 minutes, let’s give them 15 and Rodman pins Malone, which is a shame because DDP had Hogan beaten with the cutter but they were not the legal men

WCW Road Wild 08.08.1998 Any Decent Town 1. WCW World Tag Team Titles: Saturn & Kanyon (c) def. Eddie Guerrero & Rey Mysterio Jr. (13 mins)
If you remember, for the biggest part of 1997 Mysterio never really rebelled against Eddie, because he felt like he owes him. Even after his injury, he’s not friends with Eddie, but with all the other Mexicans joining the lWo, he reluctantly sides with them as he can’t really say out loud that he doesn’t care about his heritage. They challenge for the titles and prove to be really good as a team, but Eddie is selfish and takes the tag by himself, ending up being beaten by the rings of saturn
2. Chavo Guerrero Jr. def. Billy Kidman (8 mins) The lWo angle is also a way to give Chavo his first minor push, as the insecure guy starts becoming a little lackey/bully, because his uncle Eddie is running the stable and so he feels stronger. The irony is that Chavo himself doesn’t have a great record, compared to many other cruiserweights. Kidman is still growing here, but without the Flock it’s not really easy for him. A few lWo members interfere and help Chavo, so he finishes Kidman with his uncle’s frog splash
3. #1 Contenders vs. Career vs. Split Falls Count Anywhere Match: The Steiner Brothers def. The Faces of Fear and Public Enemy (10 mins) All 3 teams have been struggling in 1998: the Steiners lost the belts to non experienced teams, while the other two are not featured anymore and losing momentum. They all want progression at all cost, so JJ Dillon books this three way: the winning team will get a title shot, the losing team will get fired and the other team will have to split. It’s a little all or nothing, that I can use to write the Enemies off TV and split the FoF. Rick pins Grunge after the top rope bulldog
4. WCW United States Title Best Of 7 Match 4: Chris Benoit def. Booker T (14 mins) The serie continues and we are now 2-1 for Benoit. Booker, however, is not particularly happy because of the way he lost last time, saying that he has too much respect for Benoit, but he's taking liberties. Benoit assures that honour is everything for him, but Booker needs to stop being a pu*** and show killer insinct. The learning curve for Booker continues, as he wastes time on a spinaroonie and Benoit beats him with a bridging german suplex, it’s 3-1 now
5. Goldberg & The Giant def. Lex Luger & Scott Norton (10 mins) After BATB, Goldberg finally interrupts a Hogan promo challenging him for the title and Hogan backs off. Hogan tells Luger and Norton to give him a lesson and Goldberg struggles a bit, so Giant offers his help, as he also hates Luger because of his turn. However, Goldberg tells Giant not to screw his streak, so Giant turns on Goldberg during the match and chokeslams him. While he watches on the stage, however, Goldberg still jackhammers Norton to win and then he challenges Giant
6. WCW Cruiserweight Title: Juventud Guerrera def. Dean Malenko (c) (12 mins) Malenko and Juvi have a lot of respect for each other, Malenko says that Juvi could have been part of the lWo gang, but he still has self respect and wants to win his own matches. Juvi says that, when he lost his mask against Chris Jericho, he also lost his fear of not hounoring the tradition, so he vows to finally get the title he’s been chasing for 2 years. Malenko misses a turnbuckle charge and Juvi hits the 450 splash to win. Malenko shakes his hand, while the lWo is not happy
7. The Outsiders def. Sting & Bret Hart (13 mins) The Outsiders still have some problems but Hall says that, with the title back to Hollywood, the band is back together. Nash is not particularly happy, but keeps backing the cause to support his family and his best friend. On the other side, Bret keeps messing with Sting, saying that Luger was a turncoat all along and Sting should be ashamed of it. Both teams are dysfunctional, but at least Nash is devoted to Hall, while Sting and Bret keep getting heat between one another. Sting charges the corner for a stinger splash, but Bret punches him by mistake, so Sting falls and Hall beats him with the small package
8. WCW World Heavyweight Title: Hollywood Hogan (c) (w/ Eric Bischoff) def. Diamond Dallas Page (w/ Jay Leno) (12 mins) So, want to get Leno involved? Okay, I guess. But in the ring? Nope. Same as the Bischoff’s talk shows on Nitro that lasted 20 minutes HAHAHAHA NO. Just have Hogan and DDP on Leno’s show; Bischoff slaps Leno, so Leno wants revenge and accepts to be in DDP’s corner. That’s it, you don’t need to overbook it or to spend a capital on a set that nobody cares about. Leno gets revenge by punching Bischoff, but Hogan uses the confusion to hit DDP low and beat him with the legdrop. Once again, DDP failed when he was close to the title

WCW Fall Brawl 13.09.1998 Winston-Salem, NC
1. Rey Mysterio Jr. def. Psychosis (w/ Eddie Guerrero) (12 mins) We have seen this match quite a few times throughout the years, now the newest point of contention is the fact that Mysterio doesn’t really want to be in the lWo, despite Eddie pressuring him and having a lot of influence on his decisions. Psychosis, on the other hand, has quickly become one of Guerrero’s lackeys from the very start. They always ruled together, this should be no different this time. Mysterio wins the match after the 619 and west coast pop, but Eddie is not happy
2. The Steiner Brothers def. Chris Adams & Bobby Eaton (7 mins) The Steiners are chasing the titles like in 1997 and, finally, will get a title shot at the next PPV (thanks to the Road Wild match stipulation). In the mean time, however, they face the B squad of the Blue Bloods. Eaton and Adams are not unbeatable, but still part of the group that caused the Steiners’ crises, plus they are all good workers. It’s a short match, maybe not even PPV worthy, but I have 8 big stars in the main event and a few injuries. Scott wins with the belly to belly on Adams
3. WCW Cruiserweight Title: Juventud Guerrera (c) def. Chavo Guerrero Jr. (w/ Eddie Guerrero) (10 mins) Alongside with Rey Mysterio, Juventud is against the lWo. The difference is that the Mexican gang now hates Juvi, because he got unmasked and this has ruined his legacy, that is being seen as a slap in the face of the lucha tradition. Juvi replies that the fans have accepted him for who he is and so he’s happy to stay and perform in WCW. Chavo wrestles here with the goal of making Eddie proud, so Eddie helps him quite a lot, but at the end Juvi is just too good and retains with the juvi driver
4. Mike Enos def. Diamond Dallas Page (w/ Kimberly) by forfeit (0 mins) We will know more about the War Games in a minute, but in the meantime: Sting is in charge of choosing team WCW and DDP is not chosen. DDP is furious about this, after 2 years of fighting with them against the nWo, putting his life and wife at risk, beating Macho Man, bringing in the celebrities, being screwed by Hogan twice etc. JJ Dillon books DDP in a match at the PPV anyway and it's against prospect Mike Enos. Kimberly and DDP leave the ring and refuse to wrestle, as they are offended by this
5. WCW United States Title Best Of 7 Final Match: Booker T def. Chris Benoit (c) (18 mins) After such a long build up, the series finally comes to an end. It’s 3-3 and, throughout the six previous matches, Benoit has proven that he’s just the best in ring. However, Booker is still impressive and does really well, despite making some silly mistakes. While trying to win the match, Benoit is also kind of teaching Booker, so we can tell the story of Booker getting gassed because he’s a tag wrestler but he’s improving etc. Benoit misses the diving headbutt, so Booker recovers and wins the match and the title with the scissor kick, then they shake hands
6. WCW World Tag Team Titles: Saturn & Kanyon (c) def. Davey Boy Smith & Fit Finlay (10 mins) Even without Raven, who disappeared after losing to Goldberg (due to a character reshuffle and for a real injury), the Flock continues to do well as a tag team (also, Kidman continues to impress in the cruiserweight division). While Kanyon seems finally happy, Saturn is quite worried as Raven was his “friend” and he was his second in command. This is a heel vs heel, but a necessary step. Saturn gets to hit the ring of Saturn and beat Davey, who is also leaving, it should be a fairly big deal
7. Goldberg def. Lex Luger by CO (5 mins) After Road Wild, Goldberg wants to destroy Giant, but he's in War Games. Luger steps up to face Goldberg and actually tries to mess with him, hinting that Goldie should just keep winning matches against little guys, without stepping in the main event scene against people like him. It’s obvious, though, that the nWo is scared of Goldberg. Luger tries to rack Goldberg, who stops it and spears him so bad Luger falls out of the ring and collapses on the rail, losing by countout (a way to keep the streak and still protect Luger, as he’s got a program with Sting next)
8. Control vs Split War Games Match: Bret Hart, Sting, Ric Flair & The Warrior def. Hollywood Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall & The Giant (22 mins) Sting and Hogan are the captains. After 2 years, the war has become too much and JJ Dillon books this to end it: the nWo will either control WCW or be gone for good. Hogan tries to pep talk his guys, still not 100% trusting Hall and Nash; then, of course, Giant as he’s the bigger man out there. Sting chooses Flair, as he’s the one that wants WCW to win as much as he does, and Hart, they have heat but he was the one to help him win the title in the first place. DDP thinks he's the 4th competitor, but… Sting chooses one of his closest friends and the man Hogan never defeated: Warrior. I know, Warrior’s WCW run was horrible: but he won’t have any 20 minute promos, mirror nonsense etc. He makes one appearance at the go home show and at War Games he’s the last one in. Warrior chases Hogan, who leaves he cage once it's open to let Warrior in. In the ring, the babyface take control: Sting has Giant in a deathlock, Bret has Nash in a sharpshooter and Flair has Hall in the figure four… all 3 of them quit and WCW wins. The nWo has gone for good

Quick note: the nWo is gone and, of course, everybody is blaming each other: Hollywood Hogan still keeps Giant in his corner to do his dirty work and Eric Bischoff as a ruthless promoter, but he criticizes the rest of the stable; Kevin Nash and Scott Hall can still team as the Outsiders technically and try to make up, as their arguments also caused part of the nWo’s debacle; Lex Luger, who just turned a second before the Roman empire collapsed, is suspended by JJ Dillon for 30 days as a punishment
Quick note 2.0: after War Games, Ric Flair gets permission from JJ Dillon to reform the Four Horsemen, as they had to disband because they lost to nWo, Flair is still the leader and Arn Anderson is the manager, plus these are the other 3: Benoit, Malenko and Booker T (after teasing to choose DDP)
Quick note 3.0: the jacknife is now legal again
WCW Halloween Havoc 25.10.1998 Paradise, NV
1. Chris Benoit & Dean Malenko (w/ Arn Anderson) def. Eddie Guerrero & Rey Mysterio Jr. (w/ Chavo Guerrero Jr.) (17 mins) The reformed Horsemen are facing the lWo, even though Mysterio is much there just to avoid a war with Eddie and his own people, while Eddie claims that he’s doing it for all of them. Lots of history: Benoit and Malenko tagging finally, Benoit vs Eddie, Malenko vs Eddie etc., we have a lot of meat on this bone and a great opener to boot. Finally, Rey Rey grows tired and 619s Eddie instead of Malenko (they were both hanging on the ropes). Benoit finishes Eddie with the headbutt and pins him
2. WCW Cruiserweight Title: Juventud Guerrera (c) draws Billy Kidman by CO (10 mins) Juvi is still feuding with the lWo, due to his refusal to join their cause, but this time somebody else steps up to him: it’s Kidman who, after the Flock dissolved, turned babyface and started winning a lot of matches on TV to hype him as a threat to the cruiserweight division. This is a babyface match and they had a great run in real life too, so good. The match ends in a double countout when Kidman hits a shooting star press onto Juvi, who was arguing with lWo members at ringside
3. WCW United States Title: Booker T (c) (w/ Arn Anderson) def. Chris Jericho (11 mins) As mentioned above, Booker is a new Horsemen and a huge part of the choice was the respect that Benoit has for him after their series. Jericho can’t believe it and accuses Booker of playing the victim to get a better spot in WCW, as he’s better than him and already defeated his stablemates in the past. It’s a shame Jericho is leaving soon, because this could be a good time to push him after the nWo is gone. Jericho tries mimic and mock Flair, but Booker hits the scissor kick and retains
4. WCW World Tag Team Titles: Saturn & Kanyon (c) def. The Steiner Brothers (12 mins) This is do or die for the Steiners, who finally managed to get another title shot after losing the titles earlier in the year. Scott is confident, as everytime they had pressure in the past, they came back and always won the decisive matches. Saturn and Kanyon break all the rules they can and incredibly Kanyon retains with a roll up on Rick, who missed his top rope bulldog. Scott is furious and shockingly attacks his brother after the match and says he’s done with him, so we finally get the split
5. Goldberg def. The Giant (4 mins) With the nWo gone, Goldberg says that his route to the title becomes easier. Giant, however, stands by Hogan’s side because he trusts him and Hogan also promises to pass him the torch when he’s done, brother. Goldberg challenges Giant, who looks dominant and slams Goldberg, something nobody has ever done before. Giant chokeslams Goldberg, who kicks out at 1 (first time ever) and so Giant loses control. Goldie comes back and beats Giant with the spear and jackhammer
6. No Disqualification Match: Bret Hart & Sting def. The Outsiders (13 mins) This is the fallout of the feud, as Outsiders defeated Bret and Sting earlier on PPV and the babyfaces want some revenge. Hall vows to bury the hatchet with Nash, promising that he will be 100% professional and saying that, with the nWo gone, all they have is each other. Nash, however, wants the world title now that he doesn’t have to save Hogan’s ass anymore and Hall feels singled out. Sting hits the backdrop and pins Hall to win, annoying both Nash and Bret at the same time
7. Ric Flair (w/ Arn Anderson) def. Diamond Dallas Page (w/ Kimberly) by DQ (15 mins) As we have seen, DDP has turned heel as he’s offended about not being chosen to represent WCW in War Games. Kimberly takes a central role, she was a terrible promo but a good heel, and tells him to go after WCW. Flair tries to speak to DDP rationally: he should not care about it, as long as WCW won, that is why he wasn’t chosen as a Horsemen, because there is no “we” in DDP. Flair and DDP have a quite intense match here and DDP gets disqualified after brutally attacking The Naitch
8. WCW World Heavyweight Title: Hollywood Hogan (c) (w/ Eric Bischoff) def. The Warrior (10 mins) Why am I booking a match that sucked? Because the build wouldn’t suck and the match drew. This is very minimalistic as a feud: Hogan runs from Warrior, Warrior dares him to fight, Hogan is alone, Warrior provokes Hogan saying he never defeated him, Hogan is forced to accept etc. We don’t get to silly angles and rambling promos, this is just Hogan vs Warrior II and, if you cared in 1990, you would somewhat care in 1998. Hogan retains by pinfall using the title as a weapon
