WWF Intercontinental Championship: Razor Ramon D. Hunter Hearst Helmsley to regain the WWF Intercontinental Championship Mankind D. Tatanka Ahmed Johnson D. Yokozuna The 123 Kid D. Marty Jannetty #1 Contenders Match: Bam Bam Bigelow & Chris Candido D. The Steiner Brothers Steve Austin D. Henry Godwinn Owen Hart D. Diesel by DQ WWF Championship Match: Bret Hart & The British Bulldog fought to a no contest
After losing the WWF Title a month ago. Razor Ramon returned to Intercontinental Title contention and defeated Hunter Hearst Helmsley to win the Intercontinental Title for the third straight time.
The Crazy Demented Mankind made his PPV Debut by defeating Tatanka.
Making his return to the World Wrestling Federation was Jake "The Snake" Roberts who announced for the last 3 years he had been clean and sober and that he would be a part of the 1996 Royal Rumble Match and finally get the belt that he almost wanted in the 1980s.
The intense feud between Bret Hart & British Bulldog waged on as Bret faced off against The Bulldog for the WWF Title in his first title defense as Bulldog was looking to make it deja vu similar to Summerslam 1992 in their hometown.
Bulldog was close on many occasions and did so by trying to win the title against Bret.
The Bulldog had busted Bret open earlier in the match, but Bret decided to bust the Bulldog open in that match as well. The referee had to stop the match for both men busted open and thus shoving the referee.
Gorilla Monsoon announced that since Bret & Bulldog fought to a no contest, the feud will finally end at the 1996 Royal Rumble in a No Holds Barred Match for the title.

YOKOZUNA LEAVES CAMP CORNETTE January 8. 1996
On Monday Night RAW. Camp Cornette was doing an interview when Jim Cornette singled out both Yokozuna & Mr. Fuji at the same time. Cornette said that since Yokozuna lost the title at WrestleMania 10 he failed on a number of few things, first and that was to kill The Undertaker not once, but twice. He did it once, but did he get the job done twice?. Nope, and then he and Owen lost the Tag Team Titles not once but twice. And Yokozuna takes the fall for it, and now what does he do lose to a rookie named Ahmed Johnson. Cornette said that Yokozuna used to be a monster, but now he sees Yokozuna as weak and that Yokozuna and Mr. Fuji should not be a part of Camp Cornette anymore and for that, they are fired. Cornette got in Yokozuna's face with Yokozuna shoving Cornette until Owen & Bulldog started to attack but Yokozuna one by one fought them off turning him into a face.

SHAWN MICHAELS ANNOUNCES HIS RETURN TO THE ROYAL RUMBLE January 8. 1996
1995 had been a high and a low for the Heartbreak Kid. His big highs was winning the 1995 King of The Ring, nearly winning the 1995 Royal Rumble at #1. Winning the WWF Championship at Summerslam, reuniting with Diesel and Razor Ramon, but his lows were when Sycho Sid turned on him, beaten by a bunch of marines. Forced to have the WWF Championship taken away by Sycho Sid and just recently suffering a collapse against Owen Hart. Michaels announced a press conference in Fresno, CA saying that the doctors say it's best that he no longer competes in the World Wrestling Federation, but he has to apologize to his friends, family and his doctor, but Shawn Michaels is throwing his hat in the 1996 Royal Rumble Match and regardless on who's going to be the WWF Champion, they will be facing The Heartbreak Kid and Michaels will take back the World Wrestling Federation Championship.

With Shane Douglas & Sunny by their side, Bam Bam Bigelow & Chris Candido became the WWF Tag Team Champions by defeating The Steiner Brothers.
The Undefeated Goldust battled perhaps his toughest challenge as he took on former WWF Champion Razor Ramon for the Intercontinental Championship.
As the former WWF Champion Razor Ramon was about to have the match won. The 123 Kid came from the top rope and jumped Razor from behind.
That allowed Goldust to pin Razor and win his first Intercontinental Championship.
The Debuting Goldust finally had the Intercontinental Championship in his hand with his wife Marlena by his side.
The Royal Rumble kicked off with the Deranged Mankind entering at #1, he gained 3 eliminations early by eliminating Tatanka, Bob Holly & Savio Vega.
But all of a sudden making his return was The Undertaker beating up the man who took him out of action in November by throwing him over the top rope to the floor.
But Undertaker did not want to win the Royal Rumble, instead he eliminated himself to get himself another piece of Mankind.
While The Rumble was still early on. Jerry Lawler entered at #6 after the Mankind/Undertaker fiasco and he waited in the ring for his next opponent. Jake Roberts made his return with his snake and scared off Lawler. Lawler tried to run for his life but it was too much as Roberts offensively nailed the DDT on Lawler and tossed him out of the ring.
Also making his return for the first time in 10 years as he made a surprise return in the middle of the Royal Rumble Match, although he didn't eliminate anyone. He fared well in there against the new stars of today.
But the biggest impact in the 1996 Royal Rumble Match had to have been the man they called Vader. Vader dominated everybody in his Royal Rumble debut eliminating 6 men including former WWF Champion and former Camp Cornette Ally Yokozuna.
Also making his return to the Royal Rumble was the #30 entrant Roddy Piper.
Even Steve Austin had an impressive showing in the Royal Rumble entering at #8 eliminating Ahmed Johnson & Razor Ramon and making it to the final 4 until he was eliminated by Diesel.
But the headline of the Royal Rumble 1996 with all the surprise returns & debuts had to have been Shawn Michaels's comeback as he won the Royal Rumble at #23 by last eliminating the man who put him out of action Owen Hart and his best friend Diesel in the final 3.
And once again for the last time. Bret Hart & The British Bulldog faced off for the World Wrestling Federation Championship in a No Holds Barred Match at the Royal Rumble.
Once again, the match was brutal and bloody for 30 minutes, but in the end it was The Hitman that role reversed the Summerslam 1992 encounter by defeating The British Bulldog and retaining the WWF Championship.
Now with The Hitman still the WWF Champion. He had Shawn Michaels in his sights for WrestleMania 12.
But before The Royal Rumble went off the air. Diesel came out to attack Bret Hart and announced that he was the one that was the next in line to get a title match.

BRIAN PILLMAN MAKES WWF DEBUT AND GOES OFF IN AN UNSCRIPTED PROMO February 25. 1996
Before the show went off the air, the lights went out. The fans believed that Undertaker would kick off the show, but Vince McMahon and Jerry Lawler screamed on the commentary table saying who the hell this guy was. It was WCW's own Brian Pillman who stood in the ring to a loud pop. Pillman said that he had something to say, he had WCW owner Eric Bischoff take away his constitutional rights. He was fired by World Championship Wrestling & Eric Bischoff. A pretty popular guy, he's popular with his legal department as well. Pillman called Bischoff jerkoff which was too graphic for TV. Pillman said that Eric Bischoff couldn't take away his rights now cause he's in the World Wrestling Federation. Pillman said that he is now in the big time and called Bischoff a piece of ****ing shit. USA Networks tried to take it to a commercial break. But Pillman said he was running the interview cause he was Brian ****ing Pillman. Pillman said that Bischoff is a smart mark, meat selling giant piece of shit. A Mark meaning a high IQ and pays his last $20 of Crack Cocaine. A Mark is a guy that believes that OJ Simpson didn't do the murder and a Mark is also all the sorry fans's son of a bitches. Pillman said that the only appropriate thing that Pillman should do is Yank out his Johnson and piss in this hellhole. WWF Officials tried to reason with Pillman. Gorilla Monsoon also came down with referees. Monsoon said that it clearly wasn't part of the deal. Vince McMahon also came in the ring and ordered security to come get Pillman out of the ring. Security and police then got Pillman out of the ring. Pillman stated that he could do whatever the **** he wanted and as security and police tried to take Pillman out of the Arena. Pillman spit at a fan's face and then as the fan jumped up to attack. Pillman beat the living shit out of him and used a pencil to attack him. Security was able to get in the ring as Pillman made a quick retreat. Razor Ramon entered the ring and wanted a microphone saying to security that he wanted the security to throw Pillman out of the show tonight, or else he would kick his ****ing ass!. The fan was being checked out by security as he was taken on a stretcher. Razor said that this show would not go on another minute until they throw Pillman out the god damn door.

Although The Undertaker came out victorious, the war is clearly not over between The Undertaker & Mankind.
History was in the making as Bret Hart & Shawn Michaels who came to the WWF as Tag Team Specialists finally headlined against each other at WrestleMania 12 in the ironman match.
Both men wanted to do everything they can to win this match.

But finally HBK digged down deep to hit that Sweet Chin Music on Bret Hart!.
And one last Sweet Chin Music finally put The Hitman down and Shawn Michaels was once again the World Wrestling Federation Champion!.
It had been 5 months since Shawn Michaels held the World Wrestling Federation Championship after giving it up and finally he regained it back at WrestleMania 12 by beating the best there was, the best there is and the best there ever will be. HBK is looking forward to restart the boyhood dream once more.
