LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, IT'S THE GRAND DADDY OF THEM ALL, THE BIGGEST SPECTACLE IN THE WRESTLING INDUSTRY! WELCOME EVERYONE TO WRESTLEMANIA IX! Gorilla Monsoon here joined by Bobby "The Brain" Heenan and folks it is my pleasure to introduce to you the newest face to our broadcasting team, we hope you'll get to see him a lot more very soon in the future. Mister Jim Ross.

Thank you Gorilla, it's an honor to be here and an even bigger honor to be making my debut at the greatest show of the year, the biggest show of the year and an action packed night that will be hard to beat, when you've got seats as close as mine folks. WHAT A NIGHT IT'S GOING TO BE! Where shall we start gentlemen?

Let's start by talking about MY CLIENT, Lex Luger, finally doing what needs to be done! Putting an end to Hulkamania! Driving it into a coffin! Killing off this spotlight stealing GOOF ONCE AND FOR ALL!

I'm not quite certain to count Hulk Hogan out as easily as you Bobby, but it certainly will make for an interesting match up that's for sure. We've also got some personal blood feuds that could be put to rest here tonight folks. Ric Flair and Mr. Perfect in a fight for their very identities as they square off in a Hair VS. Hair match. Both men will be desperate to maintain and re establish who they are and what they can bring to this industry and the locks they cherish so dearly are on the line as a result.

Speakin' of blood feuds, we've got high stakes as Randy Savage puts it all on the line against Intercontinental Champion Shawn Michaels. Since the first episode of Monday Night Raw Shawn Michaels has made things extremely personal and after a long fight to get just one more shot in the ring. Randy Savage now finds himself in a championship match but in return? He has had to put his career on the line!

Then there's our main event! Yokozuna and Bret Hart! Fighting to be the face of the NEW Generation! Both men are young, hungry and full of fight and if you ask me? With the roll that Yokozuna has been on it seems obvious to me! The champion of the nineties? Will be none other than the MONSTER Yokozuna!

The Steiner Brothers VS. Money Incorporated





 VS. 

Wrestlemania bring out the best in performers, the opportunity to succeed on the big stage, the big pay days, championship chances and moments of immortality and any good Wrestlemania, needs a good opener and this one did not disappoint. The Steiners and Money Inc. brought the excitement in tag team action to get us started. I.R.S and Dibiase managed to match up to the Steiners in terms of skill. I.R.S managed to go toe to toe with Rick Steiner when it came to strength and power and Dibiase surprisingly showed us he still had the raw, wrestling talent of days gone by when he squared off against Scott. Youthful energy seemed to overcome Money Inc. at the end of the day though as The Steiner's arsenal was just something Money Inc. was not prepared for. Nor was it something they had really encountered before and it the end, Scott would pick up the win after a Frankensteiner on I.R.S

Rick Martel VS. Roddy Piper

 VS. 

Some may have written this encounter off as a sleeper match, or an opportunity to go and get your popcorn before the big matches began. But if anybody did happen to make their way towards the concessions, they certainly found themselves regretting it and rushing back quickly as Martel and Piper put in what was most certainly the surprise performance of the night. Though it might not be match of the night, it was not a disappointment and it was an interesting mash up of Martel's technical prowess against Piper's street fighting skills. Piper showed us when it mattered the most he still had it in him and carried more than some had initially wrote him off as having. His surprise burst of energy and fight in him even took Martel by surprise and Piper would pick up the win after locking in a sleeper hold.

WWF Intercontinental Championship
Title VS. Career
Randy Savage VS. Shawn Michaels





 VS. 

Some might say this match should have been positioned later, others think WWF Management positioned this match here knowing the two inhabitants in the ring would try and steal the show as a result. The match began with Shawn showboating and showcasing confidently, trying to make Randy look like he couldn't cut it any more which drove Savage insane. Tests of strength and athleticism made the Macho Man seemed like he'd lost a step but when Shawn went a step too far and started taunting and mocking Macho Man to the crowd, Macho Man snapped and his rage drove him after Michaels. Savage would make the come back and show us all that yes, indeed, he still had it in him and he was not going to let some young punk put him away so easily when such huge stakes were on the line. Sherri pounded at the ring mat, screaming at her man to come back and to put him away as Randy gave us flickers of the performance he gave at Wrestlemania 3. Flipping and twisting and trading shots, whips and drags with Michaels. Savage went up to the top rope to deliver the diving elbow drop, but Michaels managed to scramble and quickly rushed the ropes, crotching Savage and causing him to flop towards the flor. As Michaels regained his composure, Sherri tried handing him something but Michaels refused, insisting he had to finish this without assistance and prove he could do it on his own. He began stomping his feet in the corner at the protest of the fans, some of them raising their hands to their mouths in shock, others in tears fearful of what would happen when Macho Man got up. When he did? Macho was met with what Michaels was now dubbing as "Sweet Chin Music", before hooking Macho's leg and pinning him...one...two...three...

Hulk Hogan VS. Lex Luger


 VS. 

Hulk Hogan was actually brought to an extent many fans had not seen before. This was not just the standard Hogan affair although it may have seemed like that at first. Luger began with the assault, beating Hogan to the point where he was looking like he was struggling. Hogan began making his come back, Hulking up as fans may expect, but when Hogan went for the big boot, Luger ducked underneath it and hoisted Hogan up onto his back for the torture rack! Hogan strained and struggled but he refused to give in or give up, reaching out his hands, trying to draw from the energy of the Hulkamaniacs. He kicked his legs, driving an elbow into Luger's head, causing Luger to drop him. He turned Luger around, kicked him an the gut and by god the Hulkster actually suplexed Luger in a desperation big to get him to the mat before hitting him with the Atomic Leg Drop.

Hair VS. Hair
Mr. Perfect VS. Ric Flair

 VS. 

With Savage and Michaels behind us, some might say it would have been hard to try and top that, but try Mr. Perfect and Ric Flair did and another potential match of the night was in the books. Every move had purpose and intent behind it. The psychology in the ring told a story of these two men desperately trying not only to show the fans and each other, but most importantly to themselves what they could still do. Their work in the ring helped craft the story of two men fighting to maintain their identity. Taking a silly idea such as Hair VS. Hair and making it a personal, blood feud match that saw them leaving nothing in the ring. Perfect would manage to pick up the win against Flair with a Perfect Plex.

After The Match


  

Mr. Perfect smiled as he motioned towards Brutus Beefcake to come on in, Brutus came in with a pair of shears and a steel chair for Flair to sit in. Perfect hoisted Flair up into the chair and held him down as Brutus began to cut at The Nature Boy's precious locks. As Brutus was shaving at Flair's trademark hair. The Nature Boy came to. Realizing what was going on he tried to fight back, struggling with all of his might, Perfect only responded by delivering another shot to Flair.


Flair kicked and screamed trying to resist as Perfect held him in the chair. he begged for Perfect to let him go, apologizing, pleading, even offering money, but Perfect paid no attention to it. After Brutus was done with the shears, he grabbed a mirror and slowly turned it around, revealing to totally shave head of The Nature Boy, who reacted with wide eyes and a scream of embarrassment, rushing out of the ring and straight to the backstage area.

Razor Ramon VS. The Undertaker

 vs. 

A hard hitting war between these men, as a hungry Razor Ramon brought everything he had against The Undertaker in this exhausting battle to try and garner the fame and attention that beating Undertaker would bring him. Everything Razor did reeked of determination and desperation at the same time. There was no line he would not cross, no boundary he was unwilling to break to try and wear down the Deadman. Turnbuckles were stripped of their pads, the fight got brought to the outside of the ring multiple times. One highlight of the match was when Ramon had Taker propped up against the ring barricade, He charged at Taker but The Deadman managed to roll out the way and Ramon found himself colliding head first with the ring barricade and tumbling to the floor in a heap. Another highlight of the match was Taker being driven through the commentary table with the Razor's edge. When Razor threw him back into the ring to get the pin however...Taker kicked out just before the ref's hand came down for three. Both men seemed sapped towards the end, in an act of desperation Ramon went to do a Razor's Edge on Taker against the exposed turnbuckle. Taker however managed to work his way out of it, turning Ramon around and driving his head into the mat with a tombstone to seal the win.

After The Match


 

Undertaker knealt upon one knee, raising his arm to the sky. Multiple men in dark hooded robes began to emerge at the top of the Wrestlemania stage as the lights dimmed, they were rolling down the casket that Undertaker had crafted towards the ring. Once the casket was at ringside, Taker rose back towards his feet, turning his attention back to the fallen Ramon. He reached down, grabbing Razor by the throat and hoisted him up towards his feet. He rolled his eyes back as he walked with Razor towards the rope. As he lifted Razor up by the throat, Razor delivered a kick straight to Undertaker's stomach! Causing the Dead Man to drop Ramon. Once on his feet, Ramon struck Undertaker in the gut again, rolling the Dead Man up onto his shoulders...and delivering the Razor's Edge over the top rope and dropping Taker straight into the casket that was intended for Ramon!

WWF Championship
Yokozuna VS. Bret Hart (C)



 VS. 

Another contender for match of the night, even with the other hot, action packed matches before. The Main Event did not disappoint. It was a David and Goliath story in motion. Bret Hart was fighting from underneath from the beginning as Yoko was relentless from the start, bringing a menacing fight to the WWF Champion. Making the fanc concerned for the fight Bret had ahead of him. It almost seemed as if Yoko was toying with Bret for the first third of the match, confident, over confident in fact of his ability to over power Bret. Bret did not easily give in however and made a fight back. The second third of the match saw Bret using his technical abilities to fight back, rebounding off the ropes, driving Yoko towards the corner, keeping him restrained there, keeping him pressed against the ropes, wearing the big man down slowly by taking him around the ring with Bret's mat wrestling. The final third of the match saw the two trading shots. Yoko would come at Bret with slams and hard chops while Bret would come back with spins, flips and even a Russian leg sweep which saw Yoko shaking the ring in a tremendous tremor. The match would come to an end though, when Bret made a run towards Yoko only to be met with a kick straight to the face, knocking him to the ground. Yoko dragged Bret to the corner after and hit him with what was the second Banzai drop of the match before putting him away and becoming your new WWF Champion.

After The Match

 


After the match, the new WWF Champion would not let up, he continued his assault on the WWF hero Bret Hart, dragging the former champion to the nearest ring corner, placing the belt over his chest and then delivering what would be the second Banzai drop to Bret, causing him to sputter and tremble in response. Yoko picks up the belt and celebrates his win. Leaving with Mr. Fuji by his side. Meanwhile, Bret is being tended to by ring hands and referees, who signal for Emergency Technicians to make their way down. They try to help Bret get up but he clutches at his mid section, screaming in agony. They have no choice, but to carry The Hitman out of Wrestlemania on a stretcher....

Writer's Note: So, my first Wrestlemania and I am very, very pleased with this. Not a single match rated below 70. The angles let me down but the fans were expecting bigger and better ones, Not sure how to combat that in the future so it doesn't face such a penalty. But it was a stacked card, nobody had an off night, the only match I thought would drop the show was Martel VS. Piper, but man I was glad to be wrong. My goal was produce something better than the REAL Wrestlemania IX, I can happily say in my mind. I definitely did that.
