"JR I don't know how anyone can think the Road Dogg has any chance in our opener here tonight. I don't trust Kane but that giant red moron is controlled easily enough if you're smart and Mr McMahon is smart! He's going to set a mission for that big goof and it's just to destroy the Road Dogg and send a message to Degeneration-X!" This confident royal proclamation is the first thing we hear from our commentary team tonight.
"Well King, I don't think you can count the champion out! Road Dogg is from one tough family and he didn't win that belt by accident!" says Jim Ross, taking up for the degenerate.
Lawler laughs.
"He's got as much chance as those goofs, the Oddities, do against Cornette and his team! You have a former multi-time tag champion in Bobby Eaton and one of the toughest men to ever step foot in a ring in your buddy Steve Williams. Those idiots will be out-wrestled AND out-fought!"
JR shakes his head,
"You're making a mistake if you ever underestimate 2 big men like Kurrgan and Golga. Their size alone proves they should never ever be written off!"The King clearly thinks so little of the Oddities, he makes no further comment on that match and gives us his thoughts on the Kaientai vs D'Lo & Mark Henry match.
"Speaking of teams that never should be written off, I gotta give credit to those two little Japanese midgets Taka and Kota, they've taken their opportunites in recent times and I think they can shock everyone one more time and get to the next round!"Jim Ross rolls his eyes at the midget remark but nods along with his broadcast partner's positive assessment of Kaientai.
"I think either team can take that one King! You have a team in Kaientai who are quicker than a hiccup and D'Lo and Mark Henry are a team that combines athleticism AND power and that's a pretty lethal combination on any day!"Lawler looks more thoughtful than usual and eventually nods.
"You know what JR? I'll give you that. D'Lo and Henry do make a pretty good team and more importantly pretty much the only person I want pi**ed off at me less in the entire WWF than Mark Henry, is the Undertaker! Speaking of him, we see his acolytes take on the Legion of Doom in our final tag team match and I gotta say I'm really looking forward to this one JR! I doubt either team will be left standing after this one!"
JR seems thrilled at the thought of the hard hitting slugfest that will obviously ensue when those 4 men go at it later tonight.
"That will no doubt be a slobberknocker and one I am definitely looking forward to! I'm also looking forward to seeing Mankind up against Shane Douglas! You have a wrestler with a friendly face but who can both take and dish out as much, if not more punishment than any wrestler in the business, in Mick Foley and you have a man in Shane Douglas, who pretends to be nothing other than he is, an angry and bitter individual but a man who proved in ECW, that he can also hit hard and often and take a lot of punishment himself!"
Looking at JR, like he has two heads, the King shares his thoughts on what his broadcast colleague just said.
"JR NEITHER of those men deserves any credit for anything! Mankind is a big goof that actually thinks he's a star and Shane Douglas is one of those extremely crappy wrestlers who already failed in the WWF once and somehow wormed his way back into the company. I don't have too many issues with Jim Cornette, I've known him since he was in Memphis but bringing back to the WWF, was a mistake!"
"I've known Cornette almost as long as you King but as much as you wish he'd go away sometimes, he knows what makes a good wrestler and if he's behind Shane Douglas, I think Shane can more than make up for his past run in the WWF!" JR reasons with Jerry Lawler.
"However as far as I'm concerned, Mankind is just on too much of a roll lately and he'll continue that momentum towards a title match with the Rock, with the win here tonight!"
Lawler laughs at that last statement from JR.
"You have as much chance of winning a beauty contest back in Oklahoma, as that idiot does of ever getting a title shot against the Rock, let alone that big goof ever actually winning the title! I'll eat my crown if that ever happens JR!"
We see Jim Ross suppress a smile at that thought, before collecting himself and talking about the main event.
"I'm excited to see who will challenge Stone Cold in our main event tonight! It could be anybody in the world of wrestling!"
"Whoever it is, I hope they knock some sense into that bald idiot! Why can't he just listen to Mr McMahon and conform to authority? It'd make everyone's life so much easier!" The King angrily replies.
Opening Match: Hardcore Title Match-Road Dogg (c) vs Kane vs We cut to backstage, the champion (wielding a baseball bat) has jump started this one and it's almost certainly because he knows that any opening Kane has, could be fatal to his championship reign and so Dogg needs to end this, pretty much before it starts. A bat shot to the stomach, has even the big red machine reeling. However another attempt to use the bat sees Kane catch it with his hands and wrench it out of the champion's grasp, before tossing it aside. Road Dogg is backing up, throwing everything he can lay his hands on at the big red machine but nothing slows him down. Jim Ross on commentary is likening it to one of the great horror movie killers stalking his latest victim. Jerry Lawler agrees saying "And just like with Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street, in the end Road Dogg will be nothing but Road-kill after falling victim to that big red beast and I love it JR! Hahaha." Of course as is the case with timing in wrestling, as soon as the King said that the champion got some offense after smashing a steel chair over Kane's head. Following up by throwing lefts and rights with as much force as he can muster, the Road Dogg is getting the crowd hoping and cheering him on. Again staggered (and obviously more so than before) but despite the punishment, Kane is still not down! It continues like this for a minute or so, with Kane still on defense, through the arena and into what looks like an area under construction. The champion tries to finish him off but Kane grabs the wooden plank Road Dogg tried to hit him with, pulls it away and then snaps it in half like he was tearing apart paper! A paint can swung in his direction is also easily swatted away, by the big red machine. Road Dogg then tries a desperation kick...that was a wee bit low. "Perfectly legal in a hardcore match King!" JR says to his broadcast partner, when he complains of the legality of the move. Legal status aside, it did slightly phase the big red machine at least, proving he's at least somewhat human. Road Dogg scrambles up a ladder and tries coming off with a double axe handle but Kane avoids it and the champion crashes into a wheelbarrow, spilling its contents of bricks onto the floor. Road Dogg then becomes well acquainted with said bricks, as he gets chokeslamed onto them. The referee cautiously approaches, having kept as far back as he could to this point and Kane covers, to give us a new hardcore champion!

Vince McMahon is in his office, with the 'Paul' he'd been on the phone with recently and it turns out to be none other than ECW owner Paul Heyman!
"Good to see you again Paul, I trust you are well." McMahon says, rather cordially.
A visibly wary Paul Heyman is not interested in the small talk.
"Let's cut the preliminary bullshit out McMahon. We've done business before and you kinda screwed us over. Our guys are better than going to double countouts and dq's to your lower card wrestlers! In fact the only reason I even picked up the phone was your offer........defending an ECW title at the Royal Rumble? You're serious? Because if it's some damn scheme of yours, I'm walking out that door right the **** now!"A bemused smile on his face as if he was thinking
'me screw over another promoter, as if i'd ever do that!', McMahon goes on to say
"I'm serious Paul, your little company is gaining some serious traction, I've even heard some important executives in the business world, talk about ECW recently! Of course they don't understand wrestling like you and me but they are talking about your guys! They never talk about that mob of hicks down south but ECW is on the tip of their tongues!"
Ego stroked, a cocky Heyman replies.
"Of course they are talking about us, we give the people what they want! WCW just gives them 50 year old has-beens slap fighting in main events!"Vince McMahon can't suppress a chuckle at the shot at his main rival.
"Well Paul I also want to give the people what they want! So at the Royal Rumble I propose that Rob Van Dam defends the ECW Television Title against the winner of a triple threat match next week on Raw!"A smirk on his face, Paul Heyman stands and offers Vince McMahon his hand. "I don't care who it is, Rob Van Dam is one of the very very best and whether it's anyone from Bradshaw to X-Pac, he will walk into your show and raise the ECW banner and walk out, STILL the ECW television champion!"
Moments after Paul Heyman leaves the office, the Big Bossman walks in and McMahon hands him an envelope. "Bossman that's a ticket to the next ECW show.......wouldn't it be a shame if someone roughed up 'Mr so-called PPV' before he defended that belt against one of our wrestlers?"
87%Match 2: Tag Team No 1 Contenders Tournament 2nd Round Match-Camp Cornette (Bobby Eaton/Steve Williams) w/Jim Cornette vs The Oddities (Golga/Kurrgan)vs
The Oddities were using their combined power to gain the advantage over Bobby Eaton very briefly in the early going but when the tag was quickly made to the always intense Dr Death, despite being one man, he matched their strength and even started to take control over Golga, after a an impressive belly to back suplex that moved the former tag champion like he was a lightweight. A little too laser focued on Golga though, eventually turned the tide back in favour of the Oddities, when Kurrgan knocks down an unsuspecting Williams with a boot to the face. Eventually Eaton ends up back in the ring and he is again struggling against Kurrgan's strength and size. Of course ultimately he doesn't need to overcome the disadvantage, when he has an equalizer in Jim Cornette. The legendary manager smacks Kurrgan over the head with his racquet, while the referee was trying to keep a brawling Golga and Dr Death apart. An alabama Jam to the downed big man and Bobby Eaton gets another W in the WWF.

The Godfather is backstage and excitedly conversing on a phone, seemingly continuing his search for who took out his tag team partner Val Venis the other week.
"You think you know who took out Val? Man if you help me nail this son of a bitch, you will have UNLIMITED credit with me and ALL the ladies you can handle for LIFE!"There's a slight pause, as the beloved Pimp listens intently to the person on the other end of the phone.
"Okay man, fair enough. It's not a reward thing, it's just that you want to help a fellow canadian out....yeah I can respect that.......yeah I'll see you in Beaumont."The Godfather hangs up the phone, excitedly muttering
"I'm closing in on you, you bastard!"69%(SN: The perfect rating for a Godfather segment.)
Match 3: Tag Team No 1 Contenders Tournament 2nd Round Match-Kaientai (Hayashi/Michinoku) vs D'Lo Brown & Mark HenryLike what we saw in the previous match, the heel team dominated the early going but with speed instead of strength this time. It sure wasn't speed that got the babyface team some momentum back though, as when Mark Henry got the hot tag from D-Lo, he absolutely destroyed both his opponents. However the former strongman is seemingly refusing to put his opponents away. "You see this is the lack of experience a lot of us have been talking about with Mark Henry JR, he could have put away these two midgets already but he's trying to prove a point and that WILL cost him!" Jim Ross shakes his head "I don't get all this talk about Mark Henry being inexperienced King and even if he was, he could destroy a man with a mean look he's that tough!" Lawler just shrugs and they refocus on the match. Very soon after, Kaientai almost pull off the shocking win, when Taka comes off the top with a dropkick while Henry is attempting to press slam Hayashi and it works out that Hayashi falls on top of the big man! Of course Henry kicks out with authority.....such authority that Hayashi is actually sent flying over the top rope! The action then spills out of the ring..........and both teams get counted out?

"Ummm JR, I don't think that was supposed to happen?" Says a confused Jerry Lawler.
"King what does this mean for the tournament?" Says an equally puzzled Jim Ross.
It seems we will not have to wait for very long, as the owners son, Shane McMahon makes his presence known.
"Stop fighting you idiots, you're ruining EVERYTHING!" he practically yells out.
Curious, the two teams actually do stop fighting and back off from each other. Shane nods, happier that some semblance of order was restored.
"Now that we have some civility back......this was supposed to be a good match, with a worthy team winning. Then I was supposed to come out and make my big announcement about your opponents for next week, a team that I have personally been watching and a team that I have personally signed to a few extra American dates that I didn't clear with Dad because he's too busy worrying about the problems he already has, to take the time to think outside the box and take advantage of a once in a lifetime opportunity like I have done.........then of course you had to go and RUIN IT BY GETTING YOURSELVES COUNTED OUT! Now instead of MY announcement, all these dumb hick texans care about is what this double countout means for the tournament!"As the crowd starts to boo, thanks to the shot at the locals, Shane gestures to both the teams that were just competing.
"What this result means....is that THIS MATCH WILL BE REPLAYED NEXT WEEK ON RAW! For now BOTH of you teams are STILL in this tournament!"The fans seem to like that they will see this match again and both teams seem as satisfied as they could be, with how this worked out. Shane has a smirk on his face and everyone can sense a
"but" coming.
"To make up for your failure tonight, if you manage to win this second round match replay, you will then compete in the semi final match against these men....ON THE SAME NIGHT!" He then points to a graphic that just came up on the titantron.
"Maybe that will teach you to mess up the plans of a McMahon!"
73%Match 4: Shane Douglas vs Mankind vs
Lets be real here, both men can wrestle. Lets be real some more....did anyone expect these two to get all scientific with how much was theoretically on the line here? How could even the McMahon's deny Mick Foley another title shot, against the Rock, if he had a strong win here? Same goes for Shane Douglas, wanting to prove a point and win back that Intercontinental title he oh so briefly held a few years ago, who could deny him that if he beat a world title contender in Mankind here tonight? So yeah, it was a "knock down, drag out, slug fest" as JR put it at one point. A lot of stiff punches thrown by the franchise, were countered by some rough elbows and clotheslines by Mankind. The referee ends up having to admonish both men at various points, as Douglas kept going a little too low on some of his kicks and Foley got caught raking the eyes. A piledriver got a close 2 count for Mankind, as did a belly to belly suplex for Douglas. There was always going to be a point when this match fell out of the ring and we got some classic ringside brawling. Mankind bounced his opponent's head off of the announce table, which seemed to annoy Jerry Lawler but the King was very much enjoying a short while later when Mankind was sent flying into the steel ring steps. Even though another inconclusive result here would likely this time advantage the Corporation, the referee seems reluctant to count either of them out. He does very soon manage to get both men back in the ring and it's Douglas with the next near fall, after a ddt and putting his feet on the ropes. When Mankind still kicks out, Douglas starts to visibly look frustrated and lights up his opponents chest with several stinging chops. This starts to annoy Mankind and he actually grabs Douglas's hand and bites it! The referee has almost reached his breaking point and threatens to throw the match out if either of them tries anything funny again. Things then calm down as much as possible but not for too long as Mankind connects with a knee to Douglas in the corner of the ring but takes too long to get Mr Socko out and the former ECW champion explodes out of the corner and tackles the deranged one to the mat and unloads on him with a flurry of punches. The referee is warning about the closed fists but Douglas brushes it off, picks up Mankind and looks to connect with the pittsburg plunge but a desperate elbow to the head and a double arm ddt and covers for the 3! Hard fought encounter but Mrs Foley's baby boy moves one step closer to a world title shot!

Mideon is walking around backstage, looking at a piece of paper and mumbling about the Undertaker apparently needing him. Out of nowhere Edge comes in and spears him! Christian joins him and the two of them starting putting the boots into the fallen ministry member. Gangrel casually walks into the scene, holding that goblet as per usual and stopping above Mideon's head before saying softly, yet very sinisterly "Your move. Deadman." He then pours the red liquid over the prone Mideon's face, before laughing eerily.

Match 5: Tag Team No 1 Contenders Tournament 2nd Round Match-Legion of Doom (Hawk/Animal) vs The Ministry (Bradshaw/Faarooq)
vs
There was no feeling out period, there was no typical tag team trope of isolating the weakest member, because these two teams were destructive forces of nature and all 4 of these men could probably beat most tag teams in wrestling single handedly! Bradshaw caught Hawk with an incredibly stiff clothesline but Animal made the save. Animal later connects with a powerslam on Faarooq but Bradshaw quickly stops the attempted cover. No ring could hope to contain these four men forever and naturally the action spills to the outside. Bradshaw attempted to clothesline Hawk again but the Road Warrior ducked and used the Texan's momentum to drop him right on the guardrail! While the referee was trying to sort that out, Faarooq and Animal are just slugging it out
"Get him Faarooq, make the Undertaker proud!" The King enthusiastically cheers, from the announce desk. The WWF's resident monarch isn't cheering for long, as Hawk rushes over and Faarooq wisely backs off into the ring. LOD both follow him into the ring and he tackles Animal but is pulled off by Hawk. Bradshaw is soon back in and after a bit more in-ring 2 on 2 brawling, the referee finally restores order. The former multi time tag champs start to take control by isolating Bradshaw, who seems to be suffering from his impact with the guardrail earlier. He eventually does tag in Faarooq and we see a resumption of the Animal v Faarooq brawls from earlier. The Road Warrior is rocked with a hard right and then taken down with a shoulder tackle. Bradshaw had knocked Hawk off the apron and the Acolytes set Animal up for a double powerbomb but Hawk manages to climb back up on the apron and up to the top rope and he flies off, into the Acolytes from behind, with a flying clothesline. It wasn't a pretty landing for anyone concerned but it stopped the finisher at least. All 4 men struggle to their feet but Bradshaw is quickly kneed in the chest and taken out with a neckbreaker by Hawk. Faarooq charges at Animal but is caught and powerslamed. LOD signal for the end and the crowd cheer, as they connect with the Doomsday Device on Faarooq, before pinning him to progress in the tournament!
"Well King I guess next week we'll see LOD versus Camp Cornette for a spot in the finals. that will be a slobberknocker for sure!" JR says excitedly.
"I have to agree with you JR, it's especially spicy, if you know your wrestling history and know of the rivalry between Cornette and his Midnight Express and Hawk and Animal here! Sure I hope Camp Cornette wins but for once I almost don't care because we're going to see history revisited JR!"

A Royal Rumble Highlights video starts to play, focusing on the history and stats of the event. Attention is paid to Shawn Michaels and surprisingly Hulk Hogan winning 2 and asking if Steve Austin can defy history and be not only the first man to win 3 Rumbles but also 3 consecutive Rumbles. We also hear a quote from the WWF Champion.
"The Rock is going to be paying real close attention to which jabroni wins the Royal Rumble. The Rock doesn't care who you are because he'll happily layeth the smackdown on your candy ass in record time no matter who you are but a champion in as hot demand as he is worldwide, needs to know that the opponent will be worthy of his stature and not a piece of texas trailer park trash like Stone Cold, a pathetic pain freak who's best friends with a sock puppet he keeps in his pants like Mankind, or a somehow even dumber than Mankind frat boy teenage wannabe like Triple H....hell the Rock would even take the Undertaker winning over all those idiots and that zombie freak can't even handle a jabroni like Gangrel!"

Main Event:- Stone Cold Steve Austin vs ??
vs ?????
We see Stone Cold wait in the ring for his as yet unknown opponent. The commentary team is speculating as to who it might be. "Is it going to be another rookie, like Mike Sanders, do you think King?" JR theorises. "Not if they saw how badly Sanders did JR! I heard they were still picking him off the mat, haha!" Well the time for speculation ended, when a familiar theme played.....
"BAH GAWD IT'S THE BRITISH BULLDOG! THE BULLDOG IS BACK IN THE WWF, I CAN'T BELIEVE IT KING!" shouts Jim Ross, rather excitedly.
"I LOVE it JR! If anyone can take it to an idiot like Stone Cold and put him in his place, it's that man right there! Look at how ripped he is JR! In even better shape than when he was last in the WWF!" replies Jerry Lawler.
After being momentarily surprised at the Bulldog of all people, being the one to accept his open challenge, Stone Cold is staring him down and they uneasily circle each other to start with. They both start throwing and landing several punches, neither flinching or backing away. An elbow staggers the rattlesnake for a bit but when Bulldog tries to press slam him, Stone Cold slips out and attempts to stunner the englishman and end it early but Austin is quickly shoved away. This pattern would continue for a while, with both men trying something and the other reversing or simply slipping out of whatever they tried. Bulldog is the first one to knock his opponent off his feet, downing Stone Cold after rebounding off the ropes with a clothesline. As soon as the rattlesnake got to his feet, Bulldog knocks him down again with a shoulder block. Stone Cold gets to his knees and Bulldog kicks him square in the face! " I am LOVING the aggression the Bulldog is showing here JR!" enthuses the King. "I don't know that the kick was necessary King but he is looking in good touch, the Bulldog hasn't lost a step it seems and Austin has his hands full tonight!" The Bulldog press slams Stone Cold over the top rope and the crowd are really starting to turn on him, for beating up their favourite wrestler. "All the good will from his return seems to be gone already King!" exclaims Jim Ross. "He's not here to win friends and really JR, nobody should be! I believe Austin himself once said 'if you're not in this business to win the WWF title, you're in the wrong business' and he was right JR!" It seems the rattlesnake is now bleeding slightly, after a poor landing. He's still fighting though and when Bulldog joins him on the outside, he's swinging hard at his opponent and landing some decent blows, while the referee is counting slowly to 10. Stone Cold manages to scramble back into the ring but Bulldog is still on him, not letting up. He irish whips the rattlesnake into a corner and charges in after him but Stone Cold dodges out of the way! Bulldog turns around and is hit with a barrage of stiff punches, slumping into the corner. The crowd cheers, as Stone Cold proceeds to stomp a mudhole into him. He steps back and when Bulldog gets to his feet, he flips him off and....."It's over King, Austin is signalling for the stunner!" Jim Ross's enthusiasm is quickly dampened as Bulldog shoves Stone Cold away and when he turns back. he starts peppering him with stiff blows around the cut from earlier and making it worse. "Your friend Austin is bleeding badly now JR and it's no less then that no-good rattlesnake deserves! Jerry Lawler says indignantly. Bulldog picks him up and connects with the running powerslam! "It's OVER JR, haha! Stone Cold has lo....oh no, not that idiot again...."
"BAH GAWD SID IS BACK AGAIN! Is this some kind of plot by the Undertaker?" JR says, trying to figure out what the heck is going on! "I'm starting to think this psycho is just in it for the chaos JR!" Lawler confidently replies. "Or King, maybe he's removing obstacles in the path between the Undertaker and the WWF title?" Jim Ross theorizes. In any case, Sid lays waste to both men and the match is thrown out.
