Don't miss next Monday's post as a lot of things have happened since Star Wars... both good and bad news (but mostly good so far!)

July 25th - August 4th 1983
- The last few months have been really positive and, as a result, World Class is now considered a "medium" company! Only WWF and CWA can be considered medium today, with WWF being the only promotion that has more money than I do at the moment. I am still more popular and with more momentum compared to the WWF and so I am the 1st promotion in the world today! - What does this mean for me? Well, just to name one benefit, all workers will now work for me instead of other companies in case of clashing dates! Most of my roster is signed to an exclusive contract anyway, but now all the people with Japanese commitments (Funk, Hansen etc.) will rather work for World Class rather than New Japan or All Japan, for one. That is a huge advantage over the competition! - Speaking of Stan Hansen, yes he has signed a PPA contract too! I didn't reveal it to avoid spoiling the Battle Royal, but he's here to stay for a bit - More good news: World Class has closed a deal with Telemundo 2! Both WCCW TV shows and my monthly Supercards will be shown on Mexican television, they will be broadcasted at late night but still. All of a sudden, my Lucha influence, my EMLL relationship and signing El Hijo del Santo become a good commodity! - More good news: I can now run house shows! These shows will be on Mondays and Tuesdays, while my TV show is on Thursdays and from now on all my supercard will be on the 4th Sunday of each month. There are 16 regions betwen USA and Mexico and I'm doing 8 house shows a month, so that is easy math and I will visit each region every 2 months - More good news: July was a great month and we made $425k. I reinvested some of this money on the Sportatorium, which can now sit 11200 fans - Terry Taylor is back after his injury, but apparently he was quite annoying backstage and Fritz von Erich took him to wrestlers court. Not the comeback I was hoping for... - Some bad news now: David von Erich showed up high to the TV Show and I had to send him home with a fine. All of his friends and family were happy about my decision and so was David, but this really worries me. I asked David to stop doing drugs and he asked me to mind my business, which doesn't really look good. Fining Chris Adams a few months ago worked and he has been behaving ever since, earing a Tag Titles run, let's hope that nothing goes wrong with the von Erichs... - Great Kabuki still hasn't recovered from his injury and will need another week to recover - News from the wrestling world: Satoru Sayama just divorced and is taking some time off; everybody believes that Jumbo Tsuruta will be All Japan's next big thing World Class Championship Wrestling TV 04.08.1983 Dallas, TX Attendance: 10314 TV rating: 0.54 (0.52 USA 0.02 Mexico) Show rating: 80
Magic Dragon, Checkmate & Midnight Express (w/ Armand Hussein) def. Tommy Rich, Chris Adams, Brian Adias & Ricky Morton in 7:54 when Dragon pins Rich with a dirty roll up (69) Taped video with Bill Mercer interviewing Stan Hansen after Star Wars. Hansen can't wait to use his title shot, but he gets approached by The Freebirds, with Michael Hayes shining the American Title and threating Hansen that he better stay away from it! (70)
Iceman Parsons def. Jimmy Garvin (w/ Sunshine) by countout in 6:22 when Terry Taylor and Sherri make their way down the ring and Garvin runs away, leaving Sunshine by herself (64) At ringside Bill Mercer interviews Mr. X, who is annoyed about not winning the Battle Royal and blaming Armand Hussein's stable and the way they cheated together. Mercer tells X that José Lothario will be on the show next week to speak to him (72)
King Kong Bundy (w/ Skandor Akbar) def. Al Perez in 4:46 (60)
Taped interview from Star Wars, with Bill Mercer trying to interviewing Ted DiBiase but being stopped by Bobby Heenan. Heenan says that Terry Funk brags about his famous punches, but he had to cheat with a foreign object and also get his brother involved to beat his client. Heenan says that it's not over, as their war starts now! (85)
Kerry von Erich def. Terry Gordy in 11:55 with a small package (83) Postmatch Kerry grabs a chair and wants to hit Gordy for trying to injury him at Star Wars, but Kevin arrives to stop him after telling him something in his ear. They leave together, while The Freebirds get in the ring to celebrate with a belt and ironically ask where David is, as the announcers have no clue! (88)
Show notes
- I am quite happy with the show! Attendance record, TV rating record and show rating record all at once! That even though the main event was the only big match of the show (and it went really well anyway)
- I decided to use David's absence as a work to get something done, the direction will depend by David's behaviour in the next few weeks and months though
- Crowd was absolutely on fire for the last 3 segments, as all of my main stars are really hot at the moment
- A great thing I have noticed is that even the midcarder's segments are now more successful and that is yes thanks to them, but also thanks to the great quality of announcing by JR and Gary Hart
- King Kong Bundy keeps doing really entertaining squashes, but his gimmick is apparently getting a bit stale
- I am a bit annoyed at Magic Dragon underperforming in the opener, right in the match where he got a pinfall on a Tag Team champion of all matches!

August 5th - August 11th
- It's been a quiet week, which I actually needed after all that happened recently!
- Stan Hansen has already proven to be a good presence backstage and Terry Funk took him under his wing as his protegè
- The Great Kabuki is finally back from his injury
- I have signed the 3rd wrestler (with the 1st being Hansen and the 2nd being unknown), but I don't need to rush him, so I have given him time off while he finishes his 28 commitments to other promotions
- I am constantly looking at CState's business and Bret Hart is performing really really well there
- News from the wrestling world: The Sheik retired, Gene Anderson opened a new wrestling school, Cien Caras might leave EMLL due to backstage issues, Dusty Rhodes won the North American Title in Mid South
WCCW TV 11.08.1983 Dallas, TX Attendance: 9506 TV rating: 0.56 (0.54 USA + 0.02 Mexico) Show rating: 81
The Funks def. The Fantastics in 7:38 when Terry pins Rogers (68)
Postmatch The Funks address Ted DiBiase's words. Dory says that his brother already defeated DiBiase, but since he's been calling him out too, now he's the one that challenges DiBiase to a match at Star Wars! (78)
Tommy Rich (w/ Chris Adams) def. Magic Dragon (w/ Checkmate, Great Kabuki and Armand Hussein) in 6:43. During the match, Mr. X arrives ringside to mock Checkmate and instigate a fight, but José Lothario pushes him away. José tells X to stop with his act, but X seems offended and leaves the ringside area (62)
At ringside Bill Mercer interviews Terry Taylor and Sherri. Taylor says that a lot happened recently, and for a reason or another, he hasn't been allowed to put his hands on Jimmy Garvin and the same goes for Sherri... but Gary Hart has announced the match finally, so at Star Wars him and Sherri will end the war with Garvin and Sunshine once and for all! (65)
Ricky Morton (w/ Brian Adias) def. Dennis Condrey (w/ Bobby Eaton) in 6:50 (69)
Taped promo from Fritz von Erich, who announces that his son David will be out of action for a bit, as the Freebirds brutally attacked him after Star Wars. Fritz says that he's been away as he knows that he was an easy target, so he's protecting his kids from it, but the Birds have gone too far. Fritz says that he made a name for himself for decades and there are lots of wrestlers ready to help his kids and ruin the Freebirds (85)
Kerry von Erich & Kevin von Erich def. King Kong Bundy & Dick Murdoch (w/ Skandor Akbar) by DQ in 13:08 when The Freebirds interfere. During the match, Gary Hart says that, due to Kerry's recent streak, he's been granted a match for the Texas Title at Star Wars! (83)
Postmath the Birds try to injury Kerry with a chair this time, but Stan Hansen arrives and clears the ring! Bundy screams at Hansen, with Murodch and Akbar keeping him away, while The Birds decide to disappear. Hansen says he's here to stay and not afraid of anybody! (86)
Show notes
- The attendance was good but not my record, but it's still good business as it was my best TV Show so far with the highest rating!
- I am trying to carefully handle the time I have, as 45/48 minutes cannot be enough at times: this week I left out DiBiase and Garvin, the Birds only had a segment etc. Feel like the show is loaded but I'm not ready to have 2 shows or run it for 90 minutes yet
- As usual, the last part of the show was really positive. Bundy and Murodch will team up again soon, while Bundy's new "monster" gimmick had a good debut
- At the contrary, Buddy Roberts' gimmick needs a tweak too
- I'm keeping the David angle and showing Fritz for the first time in month was hopefully a good way to create some drama around it
- Rich and Dragon have a great chemistry as opponents, which is nice

August 12th - August 18th
- GCW is now a medium company too, reaching myself, WWF and CWA. They can be a danger, mainly thanks to their TBS deal that, although is still for a late-night broadcast, brings in big ratings thanks to their wide distribution. I am happy about my 0.50s, while they do 1.30s every single week. I only share Tommy Rich with them and Rich won't sign exclusively with me as he's loyal to the Georgia office
- As a result, Rich will work for GCW when our shows will collide and this irks me a bit as Rich is my Tag Team champion and I have invested a bit of time and energies on him. We'll see what happened, but as of now I really need GCW to stay away from my guys
- As I reminder, the only wrestlers that are not exclusively signed are: Rich (GCW loyalty), Kabuki and The Funks (AJPW commitments, expensive), Hansen (NJPW commitments and expensive), Bundy (not interested in signing an exclusive deal), José, Parsons and Checkmate (not worth it due to their lack of popularity or use to eventual competitors)
- Al Madril told me he is upset about his booking and his morale is down. He has a 8-16 record this year and his push rapidly stopped after the bad reign as TV champion. Madril is signed for another 7 months and I don't really see him sticking around longer if he doesn't recognise the fact that I have so many people more talented than him in the locker room
- Great Kabuki is finally 100% and can come back to the ring
- I am monitoring CState and they are doing okay. Bret Hart is killing it and is often the best performer of their shows
- News from the wrestling world: Satoru Sayama is quickly rising in New Japan; the WWF wants to hire new wrestlers to shake things up; SWCW is allegedly closing doors this month after a last warning from the banks!
WCCW TV 18.08.1983 Dallas, TX Attendance: 10807 TV rating: 0.54 (0.53 USA + 0.01 Mexico) Show rating: 78
Great Kabuki, Checkmate & Magic Dragon (w/ Armand Hussein) def. Chris Adams, Tommy Rich and Mr. X in 7:38 when Kabuki pins Rich with a dirty roll up. José Lothario is on commentary and supports X, disapproving his selfishness in fighting Checkmate instead of helping the team. On commentary, Gary Hart announces Rich & Adams vs. Dragon & Kabuki for the titles at Star Wars! (57)
Taped promo by The Freebirds, interviewed by Bill Mercer. Hayes says that tonight Stan Hansen has his title shot, but they don't fear him at all. He heard that Gary Hart wants them to defend the Six Men Titles at Star Wars, but they laugh at David von Erich being injured and Kerry ready to be slaughtered by King Kong Bundy! (83)
Jimmy Garvin (w/ Sunshine) def. Brian Adias (w/ Ricky Morton) in 6:58. Gary Hart also officialises Morton vs. Eaton in a No DQ match for Star Wars (66)
Postmatch Terry Taylor arrives to the ring and wants to punch Garvin, but he hides behind Sunshine! Taylor hesitates, but Sherri doesn't and she jumps on Sunshine until Garvin drags her away (64)
Ted DiBiase (w/ Bobby Heenan) def. Iceman Parsons in 7:43. During the match, the Funks come out on the stage scaring Heenan and threatening DiBiase (67)
On stage Bill Mercer interviews Skandor Akbar, who gave King Kong Bundy the night off to prepare himself for the match against Kerry at Star Wars. Mercer asks about Dick Murdoch and Akbar says that Murdoch could be the perfect partner for Bundy and he wants him to join the Devastation Corporation! (70)
WCCW American Heavyweight Title: Stan Hansen def. Michael Hayes (c) by DQ in 10:10 after The Freebirds interfere (10:30)
Postmatch Hansen is furious and heads outside the ring, while The Freebirds invite him to fight against all 3 of them! Kevin von Erich joins Hansen, but The Birds still laugh about the other 2 brothers being unavailable... but Bruiser Brody makes his way to the stage! We got our six men for Star Wars! Kevin, Brody and Hansen run towards the ring and The Birds run away while the show ends! (85)
Show notes
- Brody finally recovered from his injury and I extended his contract, though it's not a long term one. Yes, he still has to face Bundy as advertised but I'm keeping all the options opened... Bundy vs. Hansen and Brody, Bundy vs. von Erichs, von Erichs and Freebirds, Hansen and Hayes, Funks and Freebirds, Funks vs. Hansen & Brody etc... the storylines and personal stories are all there and I'll slowly use all the pairings!
- Of course, Hayes vs. Hansen will happen again for the title
- Bundy was off TV this week as I tweaked his monster gimmick and I tried it in a dark match, the change went hell. I'll need to change Roberts' too
- DiBiase got the best match possible out of Parsons and he seems to be really really hot
- The chemistry between Garvin, Taylor, Sherri and Sunshine is still great but I can't wait for the blowoff so we can creatively move on
- Funnily enough, Rich was a bit off in the opener after taking the pinfall. Hussein's group is a perfect example of relatively cheap and good talents, always ready to go under if needed, but useful for a little run here and there
WCCW Summer Star Wars 28.08.1983 - WCCW Six Men Titles: The Fabulous Freebirds (c) vs. Kevin von Erich, Stan Hansen & Bruiser Brody - WCCW Texas Heavyweight Title: King Kong Bundy (c) vs. Kerry von Erich - WCCW Tag Titles: Chris Adams & Tommy Rich (c) vs. Great Kabuki & Magic Dragon - Dory Funk Jr. vs. Ted DiBiase - Mixed Tag Match: Terry Taylor & Sherri vs. Jimmy Garvin & Sunshine - No DQ Match: Ricky Morton vs. Bobby Eaton

August 19th - 25th 1983
- The WWF is all over the news this week, as they have signed Hulk Hogan to a 2 years exclusive contract and will also make him their figurehead. The WWF suddenly signed Hogan without a lot of warning and this will hit the AWA of course, but pretty much all the other competitors as Hogan was getting really over across the country - Stan Hansen has signed a PPA deal with GCW, so now both him and Tommy Rich will fork in Georgia if our shows collide. I'm not happy at all - Bruiser Brody seems happy about his spot, but has contacted me this week warning me not to give him too many exhausting matches. Which is quite funny, if you think that he's been on the self for 3 months - Terry Taylor was taken to wrestlers court for his disinterest in drinking and hanging with the boys after the show. I don't know why, but something always happens with Taylor... - Speaking of backstage drama, Kevin von Erich has suggested me to get rid of Brian Adias due to his lack of talent. I actually disagree with this suggestion and I'm quite surprised, as Adias is quite close to the von Erichs - News from the wrestling world: Rusher Kimura might leave New Japan after an argument with Antonio Inoki; Verne Gagne has opened a new school
WCCW TV 25.08.1983 Dallas, TX Attendance: 11172 TV rating: 0.55 Show rating: 80
Kerry von Erich def. Jimmy Garvin (w/ Sunshine) in 10:22 when Terry Taylor and Sherri arrive at ringside and Sherri chases Sunshine (74) Postmatch Skandor Akbar is interviewed by Bill Mercer and threatens Kerry for his match against King Kong Bundy, who points at the Texas Title. Akbar says that Bundy is undefeated for the whole year and things won't change at Star Wars! (80) Ricky Morton & Brian Adias def. The Fantastics by DQ in 7:09 when Midnight Express interfere attacking Morton with a chair! (68) On stage Bill Mercer interviews Mr. X and asks him about his match against Checkmate, now signed for Star Wars. José Lothario arrives and says that he has no idea why X picked a fight against them, so X says that he hates everyone that wears a mask and is not a true luchador from Mexico. The interview is wrapped up, while José looks sideways at X (65) Chris Adams (w/ Tommy Rich) def. Great Kabuki (w/ Armand Hussein and Magic Dragon) in 7:17 (71) In ring Ted DiBiase is with Bobby Heenan and says that, after Heenan advised him, he decides to apologize to the Funks and cancel his match against Dory! Dory arrives and says that the match is not out, not a chance, but DiBiase explains that he's sorry about all he said, before slapping Dory! DiBiase runs away and laughs, while Dory is furious and promises to get revenge at Star Wars! (82) Stan Hansen & Bruiser Brody def. Buddy Roberts & Terry Gordy by DQ in 10:28 (82) Postmatch Michael Hayes tries to launch a chair into the ring, for his friends to use against Hansen and Brody, but Kevin von Erich blocks the chair and hits the claw on Hayes! The Birds manages to run away, while Kevin, Hansen and Brody chase them! (87) Show notes
- The great heat for the top storylines has been constant and this hopefully translate in great business at Star Wars! - 11172 is currently my best attendance ever for a TV show! - Hansen performed really well tonight and seems to have a good chemistry with pretty much everyone he has met so far. Brody, as he warned me, struggled a bit - The commentary team is doing a great job and enhancing a lot of segments and matches with their voices - Terry Funk wasn't 100% and was left out of the show, as the match at Star Wars was involving his brother Dory anyway WCCW Summer Star Wars 28.08.1983
- WCCW Six Men Titles: The Fabulous Freebirds (c) vs. Kevin von Erich, Stan Hansen & Bruiser Brody - WCCW Texas Heavyweight Title: King Kong Bundy (c) vs. Kerry von Erich - WCCW Tag Titles: Chris Adams & Tommy Rich (c) vs. Great Kabuki & Magic Dragon - Dory Funk Jr. vs. Ted DiBiase - Mixed Tag Match: Terry Taylor & Sherri vs. Jimmy Garvin & Sunshine - No DQ Match: Ricky Morton vs. Bobby Eaton - Mr. X vs. Checkmate Star Wars will be posted on Wednesday!
