WCCW SUMMER STAR WARS 28.08.1983 El Paso, TX Attendance: 42301 TV rating: 0.15 Show rating: 79WCCW AMERICAN TAG TITLES CHRIS ADAMS & TOMMY RICH (c) vs. GREAT KABUKI & MAGIC DRAGON (w/ Arman Hussein)
Adams and Rich are a well oiled duo by now, but the commentators point out the good chemistry of the heels, former All Asia champions. Adams is isolated in the challengers' corner and they focus on his leg, but Adams finally breaks free and tags Rich! Rich cleans the ring thanks to his size, but then Hussein distracts him and Kabuki spits his mist in Rich's face! Rich can't see and Dragon uses a small package for the victory! Rich is covering his eyes, while Adams can't believe this! (58) (11:11) On stage Bill Mercer interviews Kerry and Kevin von Erich, who dedicate this night to the injured David. Kevin has no doubt that Hansen and Brody will help him conquer the Freebirds (78) NO DISQUALIFICATION MATCH BOBBY EATON vs. RICKY MORTON
Eaton and Morton have been feuding for months and they start brawling right away, while Morton was in the ring and still had his jacket on! They brawl in the ring and outside, with Morton of course playing the part of the babyface in peril but also shocking Eaton with a great dive, also stopping Brian Adias and Dennis Condrey who were fighting at ringside! Morton hits a crossbody off the top and Eaton gets slammed on the floor for the pin! (73) (12:24) Postmatch Condrey jumps in the ring, so him and Eaton proceed to beat up Morton while Adias is still hurt! But Robert Gibson arrives!!! Gibson arrives and gets rid of both Eaton and Condrey, then helping the damaged Morton! (56) INTERGENDER MATCH JIMMY GARVIN & SUNSHINE vs. TERRY TAYLOR & SHERRI
The feud finally has its blowoff, including the girls in the ring as they had a lot of importance during this storyline. Garvin and Taylor go at it like usual, without holding back, while Sunshine runs from Sherri despite her training and can only have some cheap shots here and there. Sherri is on a roll and seems ready to finish Sunshine, but Garvin punches Sherri right in the face! Sunshine hesitates, so Garvin takes the pin himself and he pins Sherri before Taylor can run in! (67) (10:23) Postmatch Garvin takes a shocked Sunshine away, while Sherri gets seen by a doctor and Taylor is really worried about her! (68) DORY FUNK JR vs. TED DIBIASE (w/ Bobby Heenan)
Terry Funk joins commentary for this match and, while he admits that DiBiase took him to his limit, he criticizes him and Ric Flair, who hasn't had the guts to show up in World Class for 3 months now. It's a technical, but snug match and DiBiase struggles to keep up with his opponent. Heenan tries to pass DiBiase the black glove, but Terry gets up to stop him and he wears the glove himself! Terry tries to punch DiBiase, but misses and he hits his brother in the face! DiBiase covers Dory and wins! (75) (13:59) Postmatch Terry is mad about his mistake and helps his brother, while DiBiase wants to get his glove back, but Heenan takes him away! (79) MR. X vs. CHECKMATE (w/ Arman Hussein)
Hussein is really happy about his boy winning the tag titles and here he wants to get another victory. Checkmate works well on the mat with X, who gets frustrated when his opponent work on his right arm. José Lothario watches the match from the stage and doesn't support or disapprove anything that X does. X makes a good comeback, but he can't hit the DDT because of his arm, but then manages to do it and pins Checkmate while holding his hurt arm! (56) (7:15) On stage Bill Mercer interviews The Freebirds, who are ready to show Hansen and Brody that they are the biggest guys here! (74) NWA TEXAS HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE KING KONG BUNDY (c) (w/ Skandor Akbar) vs. KERRY VON ERICH
The announcers talk about the fact that Bundy won this title against David and that he unsuccessfully challenged Kevin for the American Title, but him and Kerry haven't had a singles match yet this year. Bundy shows how big of a monster he is, still unpinned this year, and throws Kerry around while the fans loudly support the challenger! Kerry takes a lot of punishment and bleeds too, but he doesn't give up and moves when Bundy tries to splash him! Kerry puts the clutch on and doesn't let it go! Bundy refused to tap out, but Kerry squeezes his face in the middle of the ring! Akbar begs Bundy to break free, but Dick Murdoch arrives at ringside and hands Akbar a towel and Akbar throws it in the ring! Kerry wins the title!!! (73) (12:13) Postmatch Kerry celebrates while still bleeding, while Akbar seems to double guess his decision and Murdoch looks at Bundy, weak and still on the floor for the long claw applied on his face! (80) WCCW SIX MEN TITLES THE FABULOUS FREEBIRDS (c) vs. KEVIN VON ERICH, STAN HANSEN & BRUISER BRODY
As predicted, the crowd is absolutely crazy for this one and they are all behind the challengers. After a few minutes, the Freebirds are completely overwhelmed and they try to leave the ring with the titles, but the babyfaces get them on the stage and drag them back to the ring! The champions, however, take over by working on Brody's arm that was recently injured and the match gets dramatic until the hot tag! It's a total chaotic brawl and Hansen gets attacked by Bundy at ringside! With Hansen down, the babyfaces struggle but Kevin applies the claw on Hayes! Hayes seems ready to tap, but Gordy uses a chair and the referee disqualifies the Freebirds! (80) (15:22) Postmatch the big brawl continues and Kerry von Erich joins, helping Kevin, Hansen and Gordy clearing the ring. Hansen hits a lariat on Hayes and warns him, saying that he wants his title shot soon! The babyfaces celebrate with the crowd to end the show! (85) Show notes
- Not my best supershow I believe, but 42301 is by far my best attendance record so far! - No match exceeded expectations for some reason, but all the big matches delivered. Ted DiBiase, Kerry von Erich and Hansen have been praised as the best performers of the event - Crowd was hot and correctly managed, X vs. Checkmate in particular was put there to have a short and solid match and let people get a break before the two title matches - Robert Gibson has signed with us a few weeks ago and has been working dark matches since his arrival, putting him in a tag with Morton was a no brainer really - Taylor/Garvin is over as a feud, Garvin's character will evolve after his attack on Sherri - The title changes were not strictly needed, but there are 2 things to consider: 1) Bundy and Rich won't sign with me and I need to protect my internal investments, as the monthly downsides are quite expensive; 2) Kerry is a star hasn't had a single belt all year, while Dragon and Kabuki are a reliable duo made of team players, so rewarding them is not a bad thing - 2 wrestlers were not happy with my booking... but I'll deal with it in the next chapter!

August 28th - September 4th 1983
- So, August 1983. Successful month? Yes, I'd say so. We made $558k last month, which is our best result so far. WWF and GCW are getting bigger and they have respectively more money and distribution than us, so I need to keep my eyes on them!
- Speaking of competitors, it looks like SWCW is still alive and I need to find out what the hell is going on!
- Both Terry Taylor and Tommy Rich were not happy about my booking. Taylor was not happy about losing the feud to Jimmy Garvin, but Garvin is definitely more over and he didn't miss a single show, while Taylor skipped mine a couple of times do work in Memphis. The "Garvin punches Sherri" thing will continue, not in a feud with all 4 of them anyway, so Taylor needs to know that I do have plans for him for the rest of the year
- When it comes to Tommy Rich, he needs to realize that I am prioritising the wrestlers that are under an exclusive deal or the ones that are really over and he doesn't belong to any of the two categories. I'm not saying he won't touch gold ever again though
- Speaking of this, the next Star Wars has been moved to the Friday. Hansen and Rich were not going to show up on Sunday due to commitments with GCW
- Al Madril has injured himself at a house show and will skip the next 3 weeks
- News from the wrestling world: CWA lowered alll of their production values due to their financial state; Blackjack Mulligan is not a fan of the way New Japan books him and just threatened Antonio Inoki!
WCCW TV 05.09.1983 Dallas, TX Attendance: 11145 TV rating: 0.57 Show rating: 77
Stan Hansen def. Bill Irwin in 5:12 (55)
Postmatch Hansen grabs a microphone and warns Michael Hayes, saying that the time for games is over! He spoke to Gary Hart and confirms that he will cash in his title shot at Labor Day Star Wars, in a No DQ match! (72)
The Midnight Express def. Brian Adias & Iceman Parsons in 6:48. During the match, the announcers talk about the Rock & Roll Express and hype their TV appearance for next week (66)
In a taped video, Bill Mercer interviews the Freebirds after Star Wars and the Birds are happy about the fact that, by hook or crook, they retained the belts and they will do it all the time against anybody on the roster! (75)
Mr. X (w/ Tommy Rich and Chris Adams) def. Magic Dragon (w/ Armand Hussein, Great Kabuki and Checkmate) in 6:56. José Lothario observes at ringside (64)
In a taped video, Bill Mercer interviews Sunshine after Star Wars and asks her to comment on Jimmy Garvin punching Sherri. Sunshine says she disapproves, but Garvin arrives and pushes her away, then tells Mercer not to interview his valet without his consent! (55)
The Funks def. King Kong Bundy & Dick Murdoch (w/ Skandor Akbar) by DQ when Ted DiBiase passes some chairs to the heels. Bundy and Murdoch have some tension, but seem happy to team up (80)
Postmatch Kevin von Erich, Kerry von Erich, Stan Hansen and Bruiser Brody arrive to clear the ring! Terry Funk says that, until they are here, World Class has nothing to worry about and one of them will take the American Title back to Texas! (83)
Show notes
- The undercard didn't deliver, but the last part of the show was really good and so I did my best attendance record and my best TV rating!
- All the main eventers I have are constantly working with other opponents to keep all the pairings fresh, but von Erichs/Freebirds is always the main focus of course. It's nice to have a good main event without their involvement anyway, the crowd was into it
- Hansen and Irwin didn't click much, which is surprising as Irwin has been a really good sparring partner for a lot of of colleagues. Hansen cut a good promo after the match anyway
- Magic Dragon needs a slight gimmick adjustment
- I like where Garvin and Sunshine are going, but she got exposed for not being perfect on the microphone this time and so I will ask the road agents to script her dialogues from now on

You have some amazing babyfaces on your roster! Great heels too!
Do you do long term booking? Do you have your storylines planned out? I hope Hansen gets that championship!

Definitely long term booking, I wrote the cards for Independence Day SW and Christmas SW at the beginning of the year! Sh!t happens anyway and I'm ready to change plans if needed

September 5th - 11th 1983
- As it was a quiet week, I have focused on my contracts. Bruiser Brody has less than 2 months left on his deal, while Terry Funk only has 90 days left. These are the only two contracts that are expiring at the end of 1983. I'll do my best to keep Funk for another bit, so let's see...
- CState is doing decent business and recently had a show with 500 fans. Brody and Harley Race main evented it and they formed a new tag team, called Violent Conduct. Due to mine and Race's involvement with CState, a run in World Class wouldn't be a bad thing at all
- CWA has lowered their production values once again, seems like they are really struggling with money
- I ran my first even house show in Puerto Rico, drawing only 21 fans. They don't even get my TV show there, so I will hopefully create a niche market to get a deal with a local broadcaster. We're visiting Mexico for the next 3 weeks of the house show loop and I am really curious to see the figures
- News from the wrestling world: WWF have fired Mil Mascaras; Jerry Blackwell and Wahoo McDaniel had a fight at a AWA show
WCCW TV 11.09.1983 Dallas, TX Attendance: 11200 TV rating: 0.56 Show rating: 77
The Rock & Roll Express def. The Fantastics by DQ in 9:11 when The Midnight Express run in and attack R&R (73)
Taped promo by Stan Hansen and Bruiser Brody. Hansen is ready to bring the American Title back to Texas at Star Wars. Brody says they haven't forgotten about King Kong Bundy and, with Hansen being busy, he'll be happy to teach him a lesson! (72)
Non Title Match: Magic Dragon & Great Kabuki (w/ Armand Hussein and Checkmate) def. Tom Brooks & Bugsy McGraw in 5:09 (62)
Postmatch Bill Mercer interviews Tommy Rich and Chris Adams, who want the tag titles back. Mr. X is with them and, in a too enthusiastic and happy way, tell them that they will meet Hussein's team in a six men match at Star Wars! Rich and Adams seems unhappy, as they are unsure of when they will get a shot (67)
Jimmy Garvin (w/ Sunshine) def. Brian Adias in 7:04 (65)
Taped promo by Ted DiBiase on the Funk Brothers, he is tired of them and wants to move forward. Bobby Heenan speaks in DiBiase's ear and DiBiase adds that Ric Flair is still busy and asked him to face them in a tag match at Star Wars to finish the job once and for all. Heenan will scout the roster to find a good partner for DiBiase (80)
Kerry von Erich & Kevin von Erich def. Terry Gordy & Buddy Roberts (w/ Michael Hayes) in 15:09 (77)
Postmatch the brothers celebrate, but Dick Murdoch and King Kong Bundy arrive to attack them! The two giants, helped by The Freebirds, beat down the von Erichs while the commentators remind us that David, the Funks, Hansen and Brody are not here! (85)
Show notes
- Another sell out in Dallas! I will add more seats to the arena!
- After a babyface driven show last week, this week I gave some time off to some of them to focus on the heels' aggression and legitimise them. I love having so many popular wrestler, but I can't have a full show made of main eventers or I will be running out of ideas soon
- The crowd was really into the last part of the show, as usual, but the tag match disappointed me a bit. Roberts seemed a bit off and I will make sure that this is an isolated incident
- Speaking of tag matches, R&R had a great TV debut against the Fantastics. The non finish hasn't spoiled any future rematches and the feud with MNX should be really interesting
- DiBiase and Heenan keep killing it on the microphone
WCCW Labor Day Star Wars 26.09.1998 - WCCW American Heavyweight Title: Michael Hayes (c) vs. Stan Hansen - Ted DiBiase & ??? vs. The Funks - Great Kabuki, Magic Dragon & Checkmate vs. Mr. X, Tommy Rich & Chris Adams

September 12th - September 18th
- Kerry von Erich has sustained a head injury and will miss a month's worth of action. Of course, losing a top guy is never funny, he is the Texas Champion as well. With him gone, I will speed up his brother's David comeback even though it was already in my plans. I also have to tweak my card for Star Wars, of course
- SWCW has finally died! I don't really mean to celebrate the fact that a company is closing its doors, but this is good for me and I now have even more power in the Mid South area and especially in Texas
- Speaking of SWCW, I have approached Tully Blanchard but he doesn't seem interested in making a return for the time being. I just played a big factor in his dad's company failing, so I do understand. I might try in a few months, or I might not try again at all
- After the last sellout, I have invested more money on the Dallas Sportatorium and brought the total seats to 12400
- New from the wrestling world: the WWF keeps growing and signed Austin Idol to an exclusive contract; BTW now has a late night TV deal in the UK; Matt Borne has threatened PNW booker Dutch Savage on a radio show lol
WCCW TV 18.09.1983 Dallas, TX Attendance: 10296 TV rating: 0.51 Show rating: 74
Bruiser Brody def. King Kong Bundy (w/ Dick Murdoch and Skandor Akbar) by DQ in 8:03 when Murdoch keeps interfering (79)
Postmatch Kevin von Erich arrives with a chair and clears the ring! Kevin says that both his brothers are injured and Stan Hansen is in the main event for the title he wants back, so he proposes Brody to team up against Bundy and Murdoch at Star Wars. Brody accepts! (74) Bobby Eaton (w/ Dennis Condrey) def. Robert Gibson (w/ Ricky Morton) in 6:49 (66)
On stage Bill Mercer interviews Jimmy Garvin and asks him about hitting Sherri. Garvin says that he takes what he wants and he wants money and fame, he won't let any woman get in the way. Garvin stops Sunshine from saying anything and pushes her away (65)
Tommy Rich (w/ Chris Adams and Mr. X) def. Great Kabuki (w/ Armand Hussein, Checkmate and Magic Dragon) in 6:29 (56) In a taped promo, The Funks are in Japan and are amused by Ted DiBiase latest's challenge. Terry says that Ric Flair moving is puppet is not funny anymore, so at Star Wars they will finish up with DiBiase and then call out the Nature Boy (85)
Non Title Match: Michael Hayes (w/ Freebirds) def. Terry Taylor in 10:09 (69)
Postmatch Kevin von Erich is on the stage and David makes his return, standing next to him! David says he's just been cleared to wrestle again and, despite not 100%, he's here to back Kevin! And he will get revenge for the chairshot he received, starting at Star Wars when he will face Buddy Roberts! (82)
Show notes
- Still a positive show, but a step backward when it comes to attendance and ratings. I'll keep monitoring it
- That can also mean that Taylor is not a draw? I gave him a shot as he was moaning about his booking, the match was okish and it didn't sell too many tickets, so he better know that I have 6/7 babyfaces that are more over than him at the moment
- As said before, Kerry's absence forced me to tweak the card a bit. David had the crowd going crazy and he was facing Roberts all along after the chairshot angle
- DiBiase/Funk has been such a hot feud, it's doing wonders for DiBiase's credibility
- It's been a few months and I got to say that JR and Gary Hart are great as announcers, they are always putting everything over the way they should
- Bruiser Brody wasn't happy about the booking, more on the next chapter!
WCCW Labor Day Star Wars 26.09.1983 - WCCW American Heavyweight Title No DQ Match: Michael Hayes (c) vs. Stan Hansen - King Kong Bundy & Dick Murdoch vs. Kevin von Erich & Bruiser Brody - David von Erich vs. Buddy Roberts - The Funks vs. Ted DiBiase & ??? - Great Kabuki, Checkmate & Magic Dragon vs. Chris Adams, Tommy Rich & Mr. X

Nice to see Matt Borne doing Matt Borne things.
I hope he ends up in every other update slagging off different wrestlers each time, before his enemies list ends up including half the game world.
Then book Matt Borne vs every wrestler he's pissed off in a handicap match.

September 19th - 25th
- As mentioned last week, Bruiser Brody wasn't happy about the booking as he only defeated King Kong Bundy by DQ. Apparently Brody wanted to beat him clean, which won't happen on a random TV show as Bundy hasn't been pinned all year and I want to sell some tickets! Brody is well liked in the locker room, but this rubbed me the wrong way. His deal is almost up and he won't commit to an exclusive contract due to his freelancer spirit, plus he pretty much hates losing... he's a von Erich personal friend and I still have a couple matches I want him to fight, but don't be surprised if you won't see Brody in WCCW long term
- I might lose some business due to editing Star Wars matches, but I had to due to Kerry von Erich's injury. I still plan on building a good show though, so fingers crossed!
- Great Kabuki has left All Japan after a dispute with Giant Baba due to late pay. It surprises me, as All Japan has always been a professional company, but anyway this leaves Kabuki with his WCCW commitments only. He prefers being a freelancer, but he's my current Tag Team Champion with Magic Dragon and, without his All Japan loyalty being a factor, he might think of signing with somebody else
- News from the wrestling world: Hulk Hogan has finished up with AWA and NJPW, he is now exclusive to the WWF; it's rumoured that the WWF will push Austin Idol really hard; Antonio Inoki has criticized the New Japan locker room in an interview; Tiger Jeet Singh has broken Tarzan Goto's neck during a match and Goto will be out for more than a year
WCCW TV 25.09.1983
Dallas, TX
Attendance: 11807 TV rating: 0.58 Show rating: 77
Tommy Rich & Chris Adams def. The Fantastics in 7:01. During the match, Mr. X is on commentary and doesn't reply on answers on José Lothario, while Armand Hussein watches from the stage (55)
In the parking lot, The Freebirds are coming into the arena and Gary Hart admonishes them for being late. Hayes says they run the show, but Hart doesn't agree and reminds them they are wrestling tonight. Plus, Gordy doesn't have a match at Star Wars so he will make him fight a mysterious new signing! (69)
Iceman Parsons def. Bobby Eaton (w/ Dennis Condrey) in 5:56. During the match, Hart announces Condrey vs. Robert Gibson for the PPV as Ricky Morton was injured after the MNX recent attacks (63)
Taped Bill Mercer interview with David von Erich about his injury. David says that his career was at risk and that is why he will never forgive the Freebirds. He's got Buddy Roberts at Star Wars, but that is just the beginning for him! (76)
King Kong Bundy & Dick Murdoch (w/ Skandor Akbar) def. Al Madril & Brian Adias in 5:55 (4:26)
On stage Bill Mercer interviews Ted DiBiase, who asks Bobby Heenan if he found him a partner for Star Wars... and Heenan introduces Jimmy Garvin! Heenan puts over Garvin's accomplishments and Garvin remembers taking a piledriver from Terry Funk a couple months ago, so for one night only he will be on DiBiase's side! (83)
Stan Hansen, Bruiser Brody & Kevin von Erich draw The Fabolous Freebirds by double DQ in 12:18 when all hell breaks loose after a hot tag for Hansen (78) Postmatch Bundy and Murdoch arrive as well and it's 5 vs. 3, but the babyfaces get out of the ring and grab some chairs to defend themselves! The Birds decide to leave through the crowd, while trading insults with their rivals (86)
Show notes
- A bit slow at times, but this show popped the biggest TV rating ever for me!
- Funny enough, Brody didn't get upset tonight! A non-finish was pretty much the right thing to do tonight, plus the crowd was really into the finishing angle
- Yes, DiBiase and Garvin will be a one night only team because I have different plans for them, but boy they popped a rating and were absolutely gold with Heenan next to them - Eaton's injury is not real, but a way to showcase Condrey and Morton is singles too before the tag match
- Gordy vs. the mystery partner wasn't planned either, as both Gordy and Kerry were supposed to be in the tag match with Kevin von Erich. Gordy was spare and, instead of being left out of the big show, he's now facing the new signing
WCCW Labor Day Star Wars 26.09.1983 - WCCW American Heavyweight Title No DQ Match: Michael Hayes (c) vs. Stan Hansen - King Kong Bundy & Dick Murdoch vs. Kevin von Erich & Bruiser Brody - David von Erich vs. Buddy Roberts - The Funks vs. Ted DiBiase & Jimmy Garvin - Terry Gordy vs. ??? - Great Kabuki, Checkmate & Magic Dragon vs. Chris Adams, Tommy Rich & Mr. X - Robert Gibson vs. Dennis Condrey
Star Wars is next!
