I'm so, so late on this. I'm sorry, mate. Stan Hansen and Bruiser Brody on WCCW is huge. The roster is loaded and it's surely the best federation in the world. I really think Hayes will keep the title due to some more Freebirds shenanigans. I'm curious to know who's Gordy's opponent too.

I hate the freelance loyalty in this game. It does more harm than good. I have seen more workers being out of work, because of it than anything else.

WCCW LABOR DAY STAR WARS 28.09.1983 EL PASO, TX ATTENDANCE: 43309 TV RATING: 0.18 SHOW RATING: 83
DAVID VON ERICH vs. BUDDY ROBERTS This David's return to the ring, after a month away from competition due to a chairshot by Roberts himself. The match starts with a furious brawl, as of course there is a lot of heat between the two of them. Roberts works over David's neck, who's still not 100%, but David has a strong reaction and applies the iron claw... Roberts taps out and loses! (85) (13:51)
Terry Gordy is in the ring and awaits his opponent... it's Tito Santana! (57)
TITO SANTANA vs. TERRY GORDY Santana is back to Texas and Gary Hart confirms that he has signed with World Class. Santana's quickness takes Gordy off guard, as of course Gordy wasn't prepared for this match. Santana wins the crowd over really quickly, but Gordy gets some momentum back by kicking Santana low and then hitting him with the powerbomb for the 3! (69) (10:37)
Taped promo from The Funks. Dory wants revenge against Ted DiBiase and so does Terry, who dares Jimmy Garvin to step up to the plate and hang with the big boys! (77)
GREAT KABUKI, CHECKMATE & MAGIC DRAGON (w/ Armand Hussein) vs. CHRIS ADAMS, TOMMY RICH & MR. X José Lothario joins commentary and seems quite satisfied to see X back on track, he's making friends and fighting with honour as he taught him. The heels, however, are not and they isolate X in their corner for several minutes. After the hot tag, the match gets messy until Adams pins Dragon after a superkick in the middle of the ring! (61) (7:38)
At ringside Bill Mercer interviews David and Kevin von Erich. Kevin is talking about his opponents, when Gary Hart interrupts them with a bad news: due to his injury, Kerry von Erich has been stripped of the Texas Heavyweight Title! Gary asks the brothers to bring the belt back and the von Erichs seems disappointed (71)
KEVIN VON ERICH & BRUISER BRODY vs. DICK MURDOCH & KING KONG BUNDY (w/ Skandor Akbar) This is another furious brawl, they fight all over the ring and the ringside area, the referee struggles to keep the match under control. Murdoch and Bundy are impressive and prove to be already really good together. Hell breaks loose when Kevin has the claw on Bundy and the other two interfere again, Brody also has a chair to protect himself and so the referee calls a double DQ! (75) (11:10)
Postmatch Stan Hansen arrives in the ring and tries to attack Bundy, but Akbar drags his guys away and they leave the ring! (77)
DENNIS CONDREY (w/ Bobby Eaton) vs. ROBERT GIBSON Ricky Morton is not at ringside due to his injury and this quickly plays a big part into the match, as Eaton does everything he can to interfere and so Gibson has a hard time from the get go. Gibson seems capable to win the match though, but Eaton trips his leg from outside and Condrey wins the match with a dirty roll up! (65) (7:47)
In ring Ted DiBiase, Jimmy Garvin and Bobby Heenan cut a promo on The Funks, inviting them to come out and get the biggest beating of their careers! (84)
THE FUNKS vs. TED DIBIASE & JIMMY GARVIN (w/ Sunshine and Bobby Heenan) The heels' strategy is getting The Funks angry and frustrated, so their stalling tactics work well at the beginning. DiBiase and Garvin are not a well oiled team, but they still manage to have a good outing against a legendary couple. (At the end, Dory throws DiBiase outside the ring while Terry hits Garvin with a piledriver and pins him! (82) (13:58)
On stage Bill Mercer interviews Stan Hansen, who is ready to win the big one. Hansen says that he's a proud Texan and will punch Michael Hayes so hard for everyone that he has disrespected! (73)
WCCW AMERICAN HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE NO DISQUALIFICATION MATCH MICHAEL HAYES (c) vs. STAN HANSEN but Hansen gets the better of him everytime that they touch, unless Hayes uses the stipulation to get an advantage. They both start bleeding and go ko at the same time after a double lariat... Gordy, Roberts, Bundy and Murdoch try to interfere, but they are stopped at ringside by Kevin, David and Brody! A furious brawl starts and Bundy manages to get on the apron and hit Hansen with a boot! Hansen still hits Hayes with a lariat, but then falls as well for the hit! Hayes miraculously has his arm on Hansen's chest and pins him! (83) (12:07)
Postmatch The Birds help a bloody Hayes, while the agents get in the middle of the fight to stop everyone from hitting each other. Kevin, David and Brody help a disbelieved Hansen to his feet (85)
Show notes
- 43309 is my best attendance for the year so far!
- The boys really stepped up: David/Roberts, Funks/DiBiase/Garvin and Hayes/Hansen were really good and actually the first time is my best match of the year so far!
- The atmosphere backstage is at an all time high and things are going well. David, DiBiase and Hansen were complimented as the best 3 performers of the show
- Believe it or not, it looks like Garvin and DiBiase didn't click 100% as a team... imagine what they could have done if they did click!
- Santana had a good pop and, as announced, has signed a full time contract. Excited to see him back in Texas after his Houston days
- Brody, Checkmate and Rich were a bit off their game tonight. I think that the next few months will help me make up a decision about all 3 of them, especially Brody as he is quite expensive
- Overall, it was a show with some good matches but still a transitional event with no title changes or blowoff... so it went really well if you ask me

Pretty great show. Tito Santana is another great addition to the roster and losing dirty in his debut sounds more like a good decision than a win would be. The main event's finish was pure gold. I'm assuming you'll get rid of the Texas Heavyweight title by unifying it with the American Heavyweight?

Thank you both!
Hats off to World Class for keeping all the belts relevant because I find it really difficult, there are still too many titles even after I got rid of the TV belt. The Texas belt goes back to the 30s and it's really prestigious, I will see...
I'm taking a small break from this and will continue in about 10 days. Thank you all for following this, I'm really excited to continue this journey!

I really enjoyed what I wrote, so I ended up interrupting my holiday break
October 1st - 4th 1983
- September was a really successful month, as we made $648k, our record so far. Looking at the merchandise sales, David von Erich is by far my top seller: he made $43k for World Class, while Terry Funk was second with $18k
- Speaking of Terry, he's been spending a lot of time with protégé Stan Hansen and admitted he wants to pass him the torch. They are both babyfaces and heavily involved in storylines at the moment, but that match wouldn't be a bad idea at all down the line...
- Ted DiBiase has suffered a minor calf strain and will miss the next show. No biggie, thankfully
- Sherri is back from her month vacation, as I gave her time off to sell Jimmy Garvin's punch from the intergender match. Sherri is now available and I have also signed her to an exclusive contract
- King Kong Bundy asked for a raise. He was only making $180 per night and he got bumped to $500
- News from the wrestling world: Antonio Pena has left EMLL, so they are looking for a new booker now; Mike Graham surprisingly won the AWA World Title from Nick Bockwinkel; Ron Bass has publicly admitted his drug usage and this has angered CWF's management
WCCW TV 04.10.1983 Dallas, TX Attendance: 12252 TV rating: 0.61 Show rating: 84
The Midnight Express def. Robert Gibson & Brian Adias in 7:11 when Eaton pins Adias. The announcers remind us that Ricky Morton is still injured (68)
On stage Gary Hart announces a tournament for the NWA Texas Heavyweight Title: quarter finals will be: David von Erich vs. Terry Gordy; Terry Taylor vs. Ted DiBiase; Tito Santana vs. Bill Irwin; Mr. X vs. Jimmy Garvin. Semifinals and finals will take place at Autumn Star Wars. Also, that show's main event will be Michael Hayes vs. Terry Funk for the WCCW American Heavyweight Title! Hart goes back to commentary, while The Freebirds protest! (60)
Chris Adams (w/ Tommy Rich and Mr. X) def. Magic Dragon (w/ Great Kabuki, Checkmate and Armand Hussein) in 7:37. Announcers wonder why X is still there with Adams and Rich and they seem a bit annoyed too (54)
On stage Bill Mercer interviews Terry Taylor and the returning Sherri, who is happy to be back after that vile punch. Taylor addresses the Texas Title tournament and wants to beat Ted DiBiase next week! (72)
Tito Santana def. Tommy Rogers (w/ Bobby Fulton) in 7:21. Bill Irwin, who will face Santana in 2 weeks in the tournament, watches from ringside (66)
On stage Bill Mercer interviews King Kong Bundy and Dick Murdoch, with Skandor Akbar, who laugh about costing Stan Hansen the American Title. Bundy says that both Hansen and Bruiser Brody stormed in WCCW challenging him, but now he's got Murdoch with him too and they are just too scared! (78)
NWA Texas Heavyweight Title Tournament First Round: David von Erich draws Terry Gordy by double DQ in 12:03. David applies the claw, so Hayes and Roberts arrive to the ring and so does Kevin, thus the referee calls for the bell when Gordy was ready to tap out! (90)
Postmatch David is absolutely furious when the announcers say that they are both eliminated and tries to jump on the Freebirds, but Kevin and the referee stop him. David seems not happy at all, while The Freebirds show their belts and laugh about it! (89)
Show notes
- Wow this shot has set a lot of records! David vs. Gordy was best match of the year for me so far with a 90 rating! 84 show rating beats the previous score of 82! 0.61 is my best TV rating by 0.05! 12252 is my best attendance ever too!
- Speaking of David von Erich, he's easily my top star, a total package more than anyone else. Crowd loves him and his matches are always top notch. Have to do that non finish, but David vs. Gordy deserves a better spotlight after the chairshot angle and it's "too big" for this tournament to be honest, let's leave it to others
- Santana has made a great impact and road agent Frank Dusek has praised his charisma, while I also think that his in ring work is really positive. I am happy I brought Tito in
- Mercer is killing it with his interviews, Taylor and Sherri can have a fresh start and their chemistry is still there
- I can't say the same for Gary Hart's promo about the tournament, he wasn't comfortable on the microphone for some reason, I will maybe add Mercer or Jim Ross as a support next time
WCCW Autumn Star Wars 28.10.1983 - WCCW American Heavyweight Title: Michael Hayes (c) vs. Terry Funk - NWA Texas Heavyweight Title Tournament Final: TBA vs. TBA - NWA Texas Heavyweight Title Tournament Semifinal: TBA vs. TBA

Ah, classic Freebirds bullshit to start the tournament. I'm loving it. I hope Funk wins the American Heavyweight title tho.
