January 2nd - 4th 1984
- 1983 was a great year for WCCW, we made $950k last month and have enough money to keep dreaming
- Speaking of investments, young Marty Jannetty has signed a development deal and sent to CState
- I might hire a few more wrestlers to be fair, also because some contracts are coming to an end: stay tuned!
- News from the wrestling world: Nobuhiko Takada is currently on break from wrestling and focusing on MMA; WWF increased their music production; CWA extended their TV deal, but their show got moved to a late night slot
WCCW TV 04.01.1984 Dallas, TX Attendance: 16700 (SELLOUT) TV rating: 0.70 Show rating: 84
Rock & Roll Express def. Michael Hayes & Terry Gordy by DQ in 9:13 when Buddy Roberts interferes and helps Gordy beating on Morton (80)
Postmatch Hayes pushes Roberts and the two argue again, just like they did at Star Wars, but Gordy manages to calm them down! Bill Mercer wants an interview, but Gordy says all is fine and their goal is still destroying the von Erichs to reign in WCCW! (83)
#1 Contender Match: Tommy Rich & Chris Adams (w/ Mr. X) def. Great Kabuki & Magic Dragon (w/ Checkmate and Arman Hussein) in 6:34 when X stops Kabuki from cheating. Midnight Express are at ringside and mock the crowd when they chant for the Rock & Roll! (60)
On stage Bill Mercer interviews Skandor Akbar and Dick Murdoch, who praise King Kong Bundy and warn Stan Hansen saying that the war is not over. Murdoch says Bundy is not 100%, but he challenges Hansen to face him next week! (79)
Tito Santana & Brian Adias (w/ Sunshine) def. Bill Irwin & Greg Valentine in 7:17 when Santana pins Valentine. Sunshine is now in Santana's corner and cheers for him (65)
In a taped promo, Ric Flair celebrates with the WCCW World Heavyweight Title and tells Terry Funk that all of his words for the last year now mean nothing! Flair says he's free next Thursday and might show up, not to wrestle, but just to sell tickets and dares WCCW to pay him even more now! (83)
David von Erich (w/ Kerry and Kevin von Erich) def. Ted DiBiase (w/ Bobby Heenan) by countout in 9:58 when DiBiase, circled by the brothers after he grabbed the black glove, decides to stay outside the ring (90) (9:57)
Postmatch Terry Funk makes his way out and DiBiase runs away! DiBiase desperately runs through the crowd and Funk tries to catch him to get revenge! (84)
Show notes
- It's the first chapter of a new year and I thought I booked a slow show, but the result was really good! A new attendance and TV rating record were accomplished today. I will upgrade the Sportatorium only if we get another sell-out, let's see
- DiBiase vs. David, despite the non-finish, is an early MOTYC and I definitely want to see a rematch down the line!
- The crowd was also hot for the opener, showing that Rock & Roll can work really well with main event guys. They will still face MNX soon, but creating extra dynamics is good for the show
- As mentioned, von Erichs vs. Freebirds is not over yet, but the dissension in the Birds is now growing
- Sunshine's turn face was a complete success according to road agent Frank Dusek and she did well as Santana's new valet
- Greg Valentine hasn't been hired, he was just here for a night and did quite well. I am a fan of him, shall I need more talent (especially heels), he's on my radar

We're in 1984, so one thing must be asked: what the hell is MMA?
Pretty nice show to open the new year. The whole Flair means money gimmick is perfect. I really liked the main event non-finish, btw. It was creative.

January 5th - 11th 1984
- I have something really really REALLY big coming up, but I will not spoil it here as it will be part of the next TV episode!
- Bobby Fulton keeps annoying people backstage. He had another argument with Kevin von Erich, so now also the Rock and Roll Express are mad at Fulton. I'm giving him one last chance, as it was just a verbal argument after all
- As predicted, IWA has closed down
- News from the wrestling world: Kengo Kimura quits NJPW over his pay; GCW has loaned André the Giant for a show, which is quite surprising given their rivalry with the WWF and the fact that their money is quite tight
WCCW TV 11.01.1984 DALLAS, TX ATTENDANCE: 16700 TV RATING: 0.71 SHOW RATING: 85
WCCW World Tag Titles: Chris Adams & Tommy Rich def. Midnight Express (c) by DQ in 8:12 when Eaton hits Rich with a title belt (73)
Postmatch Rock and Roll Express rush to the ring for the save and MNX back off. Gary Hart announces that the rematch will take place at Star Wars! (72)
The Great Kabuki (w/ Arman Hussein) def. Brian Adias in 6:15. During the match, Mr. X teases Kabuki and also shoves Hussein, getting cheers from the crowd (70)
On stage Bill Mercer interviews Bill Irwin, who has harsh words for Tito Santana after their tag match from last week. Irwin says WCCW is a place for real men, so Santana and his woman better disappear soon! (66)
Stan Hansen def. Dick Murdoch (w/ Skandor Akbar) by DQ in 7:56 when King Kong Bundy interferes (80)
Postmatch Devastation Inc. want to destroy Hansen, who grabs a chair and forces them to back off! (82)
Kevin von Erich def. Terry Gordy in 10:38 (90)
Postmatch the von Erichs celebrate, while Michael Hayes is once again furious and gets confrontational when Buddy Roberts tells him to leave Gordy alone. Roberts challenges Kevin to a Texas Death Match at Star Wars to avenge Gordy's loss and Hayes says he will lose as well, they argue again but David interrupts them and says that, since Kevin and Roberts will be busy, then him and Kerry will kick Gordy and Hayes' butt! (81)
In ring Ric Flair cuts a promo on WCCW and reveals that Fritz has finally given up and offered him the money he deserves, so he has signed with World Class!!! Terry Funk interrupts and says that Flair has signed for money, but now he's forced to be in Texas every week and so he will make sure to get his title back and cause Flair as much pain as he can! Flair says that apparently Funk is mad at Ted DiBiase too, so propoes for a tag between them two against the Funks... and Funk accepts, as long as it's a double chain match! Flair keeps talking to distract Funk, while DiBiase arrives from behind... but Funk sees it and lariats DiBiase! Flair and DiBiase walk away from the ring, while Funk dares them to fight! (82)
Show notes
- Best rating ever and another sellout, so now I will definitely add more seats to the Sportatorium
- I closed the show with an angle, as the announcement was verby important, but the crowd didn't enjoy it as much as they do for all the von Erichs vs. Freedbirds stuff to be honest
- Speaking of them, Kevin and Gordy tore the house down and it was another one of the pairings that I haven't used yet. They seem to have great chemistry
- Bill Mercer deserves a lot of credit for the way he helped Bill Irwin during his promo
- I have just noticed that Rich performed quite well tonight, as he was going over, but recently he wasn't too good during the matches he lost
WCCW New Year Star Wars 28.01.1984 - Double Chain Match: Ric Flair & Ted DiBiase vs. The Funks - Texas Death Match: Kevin von Erich vs. Buddy Roberts - Michael Hayes & Terry Gordy vs. Kerry von Erich & David von Erich - WCCW World Tag Titles: Midnight Express vs. Chris Adams & Tommy Rich

You're now holding the goose with both hands. It's awesome that you signed Flair and it's also fantastic that his first big event match after signing is a Double Chain Match. Damn...
In fact, New Year Star Wars seems to be heading towards a nice hardcore route. I like it.

January 12th - 18th
- As previously discusses, I have increased the seats in the Sportatorium, which can now host 18400 fans
- More money trouble in the industry: both SECW and CWA (EUR) have received warnings from their respective banks and seem to be in trouble
- Tommy Rich is doing well in GCW and has started a feud with Kevin Sullivan for their main title. He will pick them if they offer him a contract, which is not good to me
- News from the wrestling world: WWF and GCW have exchanged hateful comments through the media; both Rick Martel and Nikolai Volkoff have now started their exclusive WWF tenure; Bill Watts announced that MSW will soon hire a few key wrestlers
WCCW TV 18.01.1984 Dallas, TX Attendance: 17640 TV rating: 0.70 Show quality: 81
The Funks def. Checkmate & Magic Dragon (w/ Arman Hussein) in 5:12 when Terry pins Dragon (75)
In a taped video Ric Flair, Ted DiBiase and Bobby Heenan mock the Funks for having to wrestle all around Texas, while Flair only shows up for big events. DiBiase says that Flair is showing him the good life and they will both hold the gold for a very long time! (85)
Rock & Roll Express, Chris Adams & Tommy Rich def. Midnight Express & The Fantastics in 8:40 when Adams pins Condrey after an argument between Eaton and Fulton (68)
On stage Bill Mercer interviews Mr. X, who's happy about his friends winning and wants to finish Great Kabuki at Star Wars to get revenge for his best friend Adams. Gary Hart signs the match, but Rich seems annoyed by X (66)
Tito Santana def. Tom Prichard in 6:12. On commentary, Bill Irwin accuses Santana of dodging him and only facing young punks, but Hart announces that Santana will face him at Star Wars (60)
On stage Bill Mercer interviews Stan Hansen, who is furious about Devastation Inc. still being in his life after he defeated both of them, he's tired of it. Hansen dares them to come back next week with a match offer for Star Wars, because he wants to destroy them once and for all! (80)
David von Erich def. Michael Hayes by DQ in 11:54 when Hayes uses a rope to strangle David (82)
Postmatch the Freebirds arrive and Buddy Roberts asks Hayes to stop, saying it's enough, so Hayes pushes Roberts! Gordy tries to calm them down, but they have to run away because Kerry and Kevin von Erich arrive to make the save! (84)
Show notes
- As predicted, this show broke my attendance record due to the bigger Sportatorium
- von Erichs vs. Freebirds is slowly evolving and it's still my hottest act, but the ratings this week weren't as great as usual, both for their matches and angles. Let's see if it's a one off, because the feud is still going well
- Flair and Heenan have great chemistry
- Young Tom Prichard is a CState main stay and was chosen for this enhancement match, he did quite well
- Props for Checkmate and Dragon, they were asked to sell a lot for the Funks in what was basically a squash and they did it really well
WCCW New Year Star Wars 28.01.1984 - Double Chain Match: Ric Flair & Ted DiBiase vs. The Funks - Texas Death Match: Kevin von Erich vs. Buddy Roberts - Michael Hayes & Terry Gordy vs. Kerry von Erich & David von Erich - WCCW World Tag Titles: Midnight Express (c) vs. Chris Adams & Tommy Rich - Tito Santana vs. Bill Irwin - Mr. X vs. The Great Kabuki

I'll be very happy if you give Flair and DiBiase a two-year partnership just for DiBiase to become a babyface somehow. The undercard of New Year Star Wars doesn't look as bright as some of the previous, but the main matches are still very promising!

I want to see you book a Texas Death Match between Ted Dibiase and Terry Funk. This where you can play into the history of Dibiase and Funk families. As there Fathers battled in Amarillo in the first ever recorded Texas Death match that was claimed was over 3 hour long match.

January 19th - 25th
- This was a really quiet week, even though we are getting closer to Star Wars
- Kevin von Erich has approached me asking me to, you guessed it, depush Bobby Fulton or even get rid of him. I'll continue to monitor the situation
- My merchandise production is getting better and better through investments, I will monitor this at the end of February and March to notice any progress from our current revenue
- CState gets new fresh blood with Magnum T.A., who I have just signed for them. They are now running a 1000 seats arena weekly, instead of the 500 seats arena that they have been using lately
- News from the wrestling world: MSW has only signed Adrian Adonis to a handshake deal so far; CWF had a really good show in front of 25000 people, where Dusty Rhodes defeated Kevin Sullivan in a MOTYC (94)
WCCW TV 25.01.1984 Dallas, TX Attendance: 17711 TV rating: 0.69 Show rating: 80
Chris Adams, Tommy Rich, Mr. X & Rock & Roll Expess def. The Fantastics, The Great Kabuki, Checkmate & Magic Dragon in 10:11 when Rich pins Fulton. Midnight Express approach the ringside area and get in the heels corner to annoy the babyfaces, but like last week they start arguing with the Fantastics and this led to their loss (75)
On stage Bill Mercer interviews Tito Santana, who is furious about the way Bill Irwin is talking about Sunshine. Irwin approaches Santana and dares him to do something about it, but Sunshine begs Santana not to attack Irwin. Santana calms down, but Irwin hits him with a punch from behind while he's leaving! (59)
Devastation Inc. (w/ Skandor Akbar) def. Al Madril & Iceman Parsons in 3:04 when Bundy pins Parsons (55)
Postmatch Stan Hansen gets on the stage and says that he's willing to do anything to stop this war, but Bundy reminds him that he's still not been pinned for more than a year! Hansen says his best friend was already injured by them, but he might have someone else happy to step up and join him at Star Wars... but, as long as Gary Hart is happy to sign it, it will be a mystery partner! (87)
Dory Funk Jr. (w/ Terry Funk) def. Ted DiBiase (w/ Bobby Heenan) by DQ in 7:58 when DiBiase introduces a chain to the match and hits Dory (80)
Postmatch Terry takes the chain from DiBiase, who quickly leaves the ring! Funk tells DiBiase that this very chain will be the one that he will use to make Ric Flair bleed at Star Wars, so he better speak to his "boss" and tell him that the Funks are ready to go to war on Sunday! (82)
Terry Gordy def. Kerry von Erich in 12:00 when both Freebirds and von Erichs interfere, but Hayes gets the best and low blows Kerry while the referee can't see (78)
Postmatch Hayes wants to finish Kerry with a punch, but Kerry moves and Hayes punches Roberts! Gordy is mad at Hayes, but there's no time for explanation at the von Erichs kick all the Freebirds out of the ring! (88)
Show notes
- 17.711 is my new attendance record for a TV show
- For some reason Gordy/Kevin didn't click as much as I believed they would have. Which is quite strange, as they had enough time to deliver and the crowd was hot for it, as they also loved the final segment
- I will need to gradually integrate Flair's to be a featured part of my TV show, even though this will go against his "big money" gimmick, especially because he's my champion now. No matter how good his peers are, nobody boosts ratings like him during promos
- The Devastation Inc. squash didn't come across too well due to Parsons not selling as well as he should have, but the postmatch angle was a complete success thanks to Hansen's momentum and Akbar's mic skills
- The crowd loved the opener and even road agent Frank Dusek seemed thrilled by it
WCCW New Year Star Wars 28.01.1984 - Double Chain Match: Ric Flair & Ted DiBiase vs. The Funks - Texas Death Match: Kevin von Erich vs. Buddy Roberts - Michael Hayes & Terry Gordy vs. Kerry von Erich & David von Erich - WCCW World Tag Titles: Midnight Express (c) vs. Chris Adams & Tommy Rich - Stan Hansen & ??? vs. Devastation Inc. - Tito Santana vs. Bill Irwin - Mr. X vs. The Great Kabuki
