February 5th - 11th 1984
- Not many internal news, with the exception that Terry Taylor will stick around for another year. No other companies have approached him. I will try to do something with him and, if by the end of 1984 he doesn't improve, then I most likely will done with him at the start of 1985
- WWF loaned Terry Funk for a house show, it's the first time they loan somebody from me via NWA. Vince McMahon seems to be quite friendly to me
- News from the wrestling world: WWF was fined $50.000 for breaching their deal with a Canadian TV; Jerry Lawler buried the CWA locker room, even though he's the booker; speaking of CWA, they signed Tully Blanchard to a PPA deal, it's the first gig for Blanchard since SWCW closed
WCCW TV 11.02.1984 Dallas, TX Attendance: 18379 TV rating: 0.73 Show rating: 80
Kevin von Erich def. Dick Murdoch (w/ Skandor Akbar) in 9:12 with a roll up. King Kong Bundy tried to interfere, but brothers Kerry and David, plus the returning Stan Hansen arrived to stop it (80)
In the parking lot Bill Mercer interviews Ric Flair, who just arrived in a limo. Flair is furious about having to wrestle tonight, plus being forced to fight Terry Funk again at Star Wars! (82)
Great Kabuki & Magic Dragon (w/ Checkmate and Arman Hussein) def. Terry Taylor & Brian Adams (w/ Sherri) in 4:59 when Taylor leaves the ring apparently to speak to Sherri and Kabuki finishes Adams with a superkick (54)
Backstage Bill Mercer interviews The Midnight Express, mentioning that a rematch against Chris Adams & Tommy Rich has been signed for Star Wars and they are not happy, as it's not their problem that Rich was too much of a coward to show up! The Fantastics interrupt and mention as they have helped MNX a few times and were promised a shot, but MNX also costed them their matches! Before MNX can reply, the Rock & Roll Express arrive and security gets in the middle to avoid any contact! (65)
The Fabulous Freebirds def. Chris Adams, Tommy Rich & Iceman Parsons in 7:15 when Garvin pins Parsons with a brainbuster. Adams and Rich were not on the same page again (82)
Postmatch the Birds call out the von Erichs and dare them to put the Six Men Tag Titles on the line at the next Star Wars, now that Garvin is in the team and they are better than ever! The von Erichs get on the stage and accept the match, also offering the Birds to fight right now, but the heels leave through the crowd and play it safe! (83)
Ric Flair def. Tito Santana (w/ Sunshine) in 12:44 with a dirty roll up. Bobby Heenan and Ted DiBiase arrive at ringside to watch, but they don't interfere (82)
Postmatch Bill Irwin arrives to creep on Sunshine and she slaps him, while DiBiase helps Flair attacking Santana until The Funks make their way to the ring! All the heels manage to escape, but Irwin is sent back to the ring and Terry hits him with a piledriver! (81)
Show notes
- No sold out, but I got my biggest TV rating to date at least!
- Flair had a strong interview and good main event with Santana, I made sure to give them plenty of time
- Murdoch hanged really well against Kevin in the opener and, since Bundy did really well against the brothers, a feud wouldn't be a bad idea at all!
- Garvin's debut in the Birds was really good, despite Parsons not being much help. Their segment with the von Erichs was well received, but not too much: I noticed that the crowd only pops big time when the brothers get the best
- I'm pleased to see that MNX and RR are getting better at angles too, their matches are outstanding, but it's a long feud and sometimes they need to cut a promo
WCCW WINTER STAR WARS 28.02.1984 - WCCW World Heavyweight Title No Disqualification Match: Ric Flair (c) vs. Terry Funk - WCCW World Six Men Tag Titles: The von Erichs (c) vs. The Fabulous Freebirds - WCCW Texas Heavyweight Title: Ted DiBiase (c) vs. Dory Funk Jr - WCCW World Tag Titles: The Midnight Express (c) vs. Tommy Rich & Chris Adams

Great show! If Flair's on TV the fans should be turning out and tuning in!

It's a nice thing even a midcarder like Tito Santana has to be pinned dirty by Flair. The card for Winter Star Wars is only looking finer. I'm wondering what will we see from Terry Taylor after that distraction which caused a loss.

February 12th - 18th 1984
- The news of the week is that Kevin von Erich was sent home due to showing up in no condition to perform at the TV show. As it's his first breach, I have sent him home and fined him. Kevin apologised for his actions and promised to get clean, we'll see if he will keep his word. His family and friends were happy with this, while Bobby Fulton wasn't and probably wanted a stricter punishment
- Speaking of Kevin, during the week he buried Magic Dragon for some reason. Not a good week for him
- News from the wrestling world: SECW was given a last warning by the banks; CWA EUR officially shuts down; Nick Bockwinkel will retire in 3 months
WCCW TV 18.02.1984Dallas, TX Attendance: 18211 TV rating: 0.67 Show rating: 80
Terry Funk def. Ted DiBiase (w/ Bobby Heenan) by CO in 9:12 when DiBiase has enough and chooses to leave (82)
Postmatch Dory Funk Jr. punches DiBiase on the stage and then Ric Flair appears, pulling DiBiase away and saying that this place doesn't deserve them! (83)
The Great Kabuki, Magic Dragon & Checkmate (w/ Arman Hussein) def. Tito Santana, Brian Adias & Terry Taylor (w/ Sherri and Sunshine) in 6:46 when Adias, tired of Taylor provoking him, pushes him into Kabuki's kick for the pin. Bill Irwin is on commentary, talking about him against Santana at Star Wars, and promises to surprise Sunshine (62)
On stage Bill Mercer interviews Stan Hansen, who takes off stiches from his face and is now tired of Devastation Inc. No matter how many times he wins, they have the numbers and take advantage of him. He says that Gary Hart has signed a last match between him and Bundy at Star Wars, a Texas Death Match, and may the best man win! (79)
Chris Adams def. Bobby Eaton in 8:05 with a small package (73)
Postmatch Dennis Condrey and The Fantastics all attack Adams, until Tommy Rich and Rock & Roll Express make the save! (71)
Kerry von Erich def. Jimmy Garvin by DQ in 13:00 when Michael Hayes and Terry Gordy run in (77)
Postmatch David von Erich arrives to save his brother, but Garvin hits him low and the Freebirds beat down the von Erichs! (85)
Show notes
- The show felt a bit weird, probably because of Kevin's absence. Garvin didn't click at 100% against Kerry, even though the drama of the last angle carried the show quite well
- Flair is connecting better with the crowd, his promos are getting more recognition as time goes on
- Road agent Frank Dusek can't stop putting over Tito Santana
WCCW WINTER STAR WARS 28.02.1984 - WCCW World Heavyweight Title No Disqualification Match: Ric Flair (c) vs. Terry Funk - WCCW World Six Men Tag Titles: The von Erichs (c) vs. The Fabulous Freebirds - WCCW Texas Heavyweight Title: Ted DiBiase (c) vs. Dory Funk Jr - WCCW World Tag Titles: The Midnight Express (c) vs. Tommy Rich & Chris Adams - Texas Death Match: Stan Hansen vs. King Kong Bundy - Bill Irwin vs. Tito Santana

That f**king Magic Dragon, is he a magical Dragon? Is he a f**king magic man that conjures up Dragons? Is he a f**kwit who thinks he is a Dragon?
F*ck that guy...Dragon....whatever the f*ck...I need a f**king drink!

Ah, there it is: the self-destruction of the Von Erichs begi... well, continues.
Hansen vs. Bundy is a Texas Death Match is promising. That matchmaking is the highlight of the show for me, although it's still a solid one. Maybe you can use Kevin's absence to hype up Star Wars?

February 19th - 25th 1984
- I wanted an uneventful and quiet week after the issues with Kevin von Erich, but it didn't go that way. Mr. X showed up heavily drunk at the TV show and couldn't even stand. X has been fined and sent home, but the worst part was that both him and his backstage allies weren't happy about this decision, thinking that I have been too strict with him. We'll see. X is doing well in my book, he's quite over and his story was going to soon take another twist (we was currently written off camera after being misted by Kabuki), but this might change my plans. He's under contract for another 9 months
- I have started running house shows in Mexico too, thanks to upgrading my local TV deal and signing with Telemundo. They are not the biggest network, but will at least show the events all over the country. Maybe signing a big Mexican star would not be a bad idea? El Hijo del Santo will come back to me from EMLL in 4 months, but so far he's not a big draw in the country, except being fairly known in Central Mexico
- News from the wrestling world: EMLL is now medium company and got a new TV deal; Curt Hennig left the WWF over late payments; Billy Graham was busted with steroids!
WCCW TV 25.02.1984 Dallas, TX Attendance: 17829 TV rating: 0.80 Show rating: 82
Rock & Roll Express def. The Fantastics in 7:10 when Morton pins Rogers. MNX arrive at ringside to cheer on the Fantastics, trying to solve their problems, but Chris Adams and Tommy Rich also make their way to ringside to stop MNX from interfering (55)
In a gym, Skandor Akbar cuts a promo on Stan Hansen while King Kong Bundy and Dick Murdoch beat up students in a ring. Akbar says that Bundy hasn’t been pinned for more than a year and, challenging him to a Texas Death Match, was really silly! (82)
Brian Adias def. Magic Dragon (w/ Arman Hussein) in 5:54. Terry Taylor is at ringside and stares at Adias. The announcer confirm that, after their recent issues, the two will face at Winter Star Wars (62)
Backstage Bill Mercer interviews the von Erichs, who seems not happy at all. David says that the Freebirds are getting stronger and more ruthless, while they are not at their best despite being the Six Men Tag champions. Kerry wants to know where Kevin was last week and Kevin says that he will fight Terry Gordy tonight and beat him like he always does, there’s nothing to worry about! (84)
Tito Santana (w/ Sunshine) def. Great Kabuki (w/ Arman Hussein) in 8:02. During the match, Bill Irwin gives a package to Sunshine and then quickly leaves. Sunshine opens it to find out a beer bottle (68)
On stage Bill Mercer interviews The Funks, who ironically point out that it’s just 3 days from Star Wars and both Ric Flair and Ted DiBiase are not here. They’re not training or even celebrating, they are hiding because the Funks will take all their gold and kick them out of Texas! (88)
Terry Gordy def. Kevin von Erich in 13:38. The other Freebirds and von Erichs fight at ringside and Kevin gets hit from behind by Hayes, so Gordy can finish him with a powerbomb (80)
Postmatch the Birds celebrate and leave quickly, while Kevin is furious and asks the brothers if it was any of them to hit him from behind! (88)
Show notes
- 0.80 is my all time TV rating record!
- Freebirds vs. von Erichs continues to be by main draw, the angles are going really well and elevating Garvin now. Kevin was asked to lose to make up for what he did last week and did it without a fuss, which I liked. I feel like I had to play up the story like this, even though the brothers are more united than ever in real life
- Terry Funk cut the promo of a lifetime on Flair, it had a great reception
- Terry Taylor suffered a sprained ankle... while watching a match at ringside! He will only have to miss a week so, while his Star Wars match is off, he won't be out for long at least
- Something didn't click in the opener, the Fantastics are usually quite reliable in the ring, but looks like the crowd wasn't really into them
