In the year of 2022, Pro Wrestling is at a crossroads. 2010 seemed like to be just a normal year. The WWE, after purchasing what was their only competition at the time in 2001, and rebranding from the World Wrestling Federation in 2002 following a lawsuit from the World Wildlife Fund, seemed to be unstoppable. What was known as the biggest wrestling company in the world continuing it's monopoly, what seemed to be business as usual at first, became something that would change the landscape of the Pro Wrestling Scene forever. 
Vince McMahon, who has owned the WWE as their chairman since inheriting it from his father, was investigated for payments that couldn't be accounted for, which turns out that Vince was using company money to pay for NDA's for women he slept with, which is against company policy. Vince was also investigated for contract tampering, bribery of a police officer back in 1984, and negligence towards employees. Once this investigation came to a close, Vince was sent to 25 years in prison without bail, and with this bombshell of a news story, the WWE was sent into chaos backstage, unexpectedly, the company was given to an inexperienced Triple H, as money was being lost, talent were departing, including the departure of the current WWE Champion, and sponsors were being dropped due to WWE's most recent change to a more "PG" image being tainted by the recent investigations. WWE decided to go with business as usual until reality came crashing down the next month in April, right on the coat tails of WrestleMania. Raw and SmackDown had been cancelled and most PPV providers wouldn't broadcast the show. it was announced the day after WrestleMania that WWE would cease all production, and what was once the leader of "Sports Entertainment" has died a slow, painful, melancholy death. The wrestling world as a whole immediately came to a stop for a couple of months, but around the summer of 2010, a change in the landscape happened. Companies that were once seen as "niche" and "Independent" became household names. Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, after becoming known as a laughing stock to many fans for trying to compete with WWE, apparently karma was on their side, as TNA was able to negotiate a deal with the USA Network and Ring of Honor able to snag a TV deal with The CW. New Japan Pro Wrestling, already trying to break into the US market, was able to work with TNA in getting a US TV Deal on Spike TV, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla and Dragon Gate USA would also get major TV deals following, broadcasting their events in a convenient TV friendly way. It's safe to say that the wrestling world was in a less-commercialized place than it was at the start of the year. TBA
