WEEK 4 | FEBRUARY 2023
WWE Monday Night RAW
Monday -- Week 4 -- February 2023
LIVE! from Grand Rapids, MI
SAMI WANTS TO TALK
Sami Zayn opens the show and wants KO to come talk to him. He says KO hasn't answered phone calls or texts since Saturday night and Sami wants to talk. Elias comes out and tells Sami to STFU and go away so Sami beats him down and demands KO come out. Mick Foley comes out to tell Sami that KO let him know that he's running late tonight due to a travel issue but he'll be here soon and when he does get here, Foley will allow him the time he was given to speak at the start of the show so Zayn can talk to him then. Sami is ok with this. Elias attacks Sami from behind and Foley makes a match between the men to start right now. | 78
SAMI ZAYN |VS| ELIAS
A way better match than it had any right to be with Elias in there. Sami carries him to a good match in what was basically a glorified squash to give Sami some momentum after being pinned on Saturday night. The referee gets poked in the eye by "accident" and Elias goes to grab his guitar but Zayn hits the Helluva Kick and the ref recovers in time to count the pinfall.
WINNER by pinfall: Sami Zayn (7:09) | 70
ROLLINS AND THE GOOD BROTHERS ARGUE
Cathy Kelley is backstage waiting to interview Seth Rollins about his main event match tonight with AJ Styles. Before the interview begins, the Good Brothers walk up to Seth wile he's off camera and the camera pans over to see the three men arguing. Anderson says they should have walked out on Seth last night when they had the chance and Seth said that he never should have agreed to give them more money not to walk and calls them losers. Rollins storms off and the Brothers laugh. | 58
EDGE AND REY HAVE AN ANNOUNCEMENT
Edge, Beth Phoenix, and Rey Mysterio are out next. Edge starts off by talking about No Way Out and his victory there. He says that he's so glad Rey Mysterio finally had enough of his son's shit and decided to get involved physically. Rey says it was a long time coming and he only wishes he had put a stop to his son's run with Judgment Day before it began. Edge says that since he won on Saturday night, he gets to choose a match with any member of Judgment Day that he wants. He teases selecting Finn Balor but then says he honestly wants all three of them. He pretends to get an idea and says that at WrestleMania, Edge wants all three members of Judgment Day in a six-man tag against Edge, Rey Mysterio, and a partner of their choosing. Edge says that he plans to make sure Judgment Day is finished at Mania. | 81
MUSTAFA ALI |VS| TOMMASO CIAMPA
Really good 11 minute match. Ali shines to start and uses his speed to frustrate Ciampa. But Ciampa fakes a knee injury and uses the stoppage to attack Ali from behind and gain the advantage. Ciampa gets a couple near falls but Ali keeps kicking out. Ciampa gets frustrated and Ali takes over and he gets a couple near falls. Eventually Ciampa hits a ddt and takes over and gets the win with the Fairy Tale Ending.
WINNER by pinfall: Tommaso Ciampa (10:59) | 73
MVP LOUNGE w/BOBBY LASHLEY
MVP is in the ring and welcomes Lashley. MVP has an idea for Lashley and Brock at WrestleMania. But before he can pitch it, Brock interrupts and he and Lashley brawl in the ring. Shelton, Cedric, and Omos rush out to help Lashley but Lashley and Brock team up to take them down. After MVP and his charges are tossed from the ring, Lashley and Brock both look up at the WrestleMania sign and seemingly agree to face one another as security and road agents rush out to make sure they don't fight anymore. | 72
THE MIZ |VS| NICK ALDIS
Aldis moves to 2-0 with a win over Miz here. Miz is joined by Robert Roode, Dolph Ziggler, and Maryse but the referee kicks Roode and Ziggler out almost immediately. Miz protests and Aldis punches him in the face. This is effectively a squash match as well as Aldis controls the entire match and gets all of his big spots in. Maryse trips up Aldis and that allows Miz to take over. He hits the Skull Crushing Finale but Aldis kicks out at two. Aldis wins shortly after that after hitting Tormentum. After the match Maryse sprays perfume in Aldis' eyes and the A-Listers hit the ring and attack him. They leave Aldis laying on the mat, blinded and hurting.
WINNER by pinfall: Nick Aldis (8:26) | 57
WWE HALL OF FAME CLASS OF 2023 INDUCTION ANNOUNCEMENT
After coming out of a commercial break, the announcers talk about WrestleMania season and the WWE Hall of Fame. They pitch to a video to announce the first name to be inducted in the WWE HOF this year. It's BATISTA! The video highlights his career in OVW, WWE, and then his jump to Hollywood and his rise to legitimate film star. There's some talking head comments from guys like Ric Flair, John Cena, and Triple H. After the video the announcers make it official -- Batista is the first member of the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2023. | 72
JUDGMENT DAY RESPONDS
We cut to a shot of Finn Balor, Damian Priest, Dominik Mysterio, and Rhea Ripley standing in the backstage promo area. They've been watching the Batista HOF announcement video on a monitor and Balor and Priest seem to be mocking Batista. Priest says "He can't even act, man." Balor begins to cut a promo on Edge and Rey Mysterio. He takes the time to say that if Batista is a Hall of Famer then they better just induct Balor this year too because he's way better than Batista's ever been. Then he pivots back to Edge and Rey's challenge and says they'd be stupid to turn it down. Judgment Day is always looking to kick Edge and Rey's asses. But then Balor says that for the match to truly fit the moment of WrestleMania he thinks everyone needs to put something on the line. Everyone needs to make a little wager. So Balor has an idea. When Judgment Day wins -- Edge has to retire forever and Rey's mask becomes property of Dom. If Edge and Rey are willing to accept these terms then they've got their match. Priest says good luck finding someone who is willing to help them fight Judgment Day and Dom says that he can't wait to cash the royalty checks on all the Rey Mysterio mask merch he agrees to market once he owns the rights to the mask. | 74
WWE WORLD WOMEN'S CHAMPION BIANCA BELAIR & NAOMI |VS| NIKKI CROSS & PIPER NIVEN w/CHELSEA GREEN
Belair and Naomi pick up the win here. The entire point of this match was Nikki Cross was acting weird and Piper and Chelsea's alliance seems to be growing stronger as they abandoned Nikki at one point during the match and Nikki got herself counted out as she sat on the outside of the ring slapping herself. The commentators weren't sure what happened with Nikki to make her act like this, but they were acting pretty freaked out about it.
WINNERS by pinfall: Bianca BelAir & Naomi (12:27) | 64
POST-MATCH ATTACK
Rhea Ripley runs out and attacks Bianca BelAir immediately after the match ends. Naomi tries to help Bianca but Ripley levels her with a boot to the face and continues her attack of Bianca. Ripley hits the Riptide and then grabs the WWE World Women's Championship and holds it above her head. She looks down at Bianca and tells her that her time on top is coming to an end and then throws the belt on Bianca before walking off. | 72
MATT CARDONA |VS| CAMERON GRIMES
Grimes gets back on tv but it's another losing effort. But this time he gets to look competitive while doing it. Grimes took Cardona to the limit and got a near fall with the Cave-In. But Grimes missed a dropkick from the top rope and ate a running boot from Cardona who then hit the Rough Ryder and got the win.
WINNER by pinfall: Matt Cardona (10:57) | 58
US OPEN CHALLENGE
Austin Theory comes out with the US Title and issues an open challenge. It's answered by...SCOTTY 2 HOTTY! Theory laughs as Scotty makes his way down to the ring. Theory makes fun of him on the microphone and says he can't believe this guy actually thinks he can beat Theory. He asks him why he showed up tonight and Scotty starts to say that he was here visiting friends and thought he'd take a shot but Theory cuts him off, calls him a loser, and then attacks him. | 55
WWE UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: AUSTIN THEORY (C) |VS| SCOTTY 2 HOTTY
Theory squashes the veteran in five minutes. It should have been over a lot sooner but the story was that Theory was messing with Scotty instead of pinning him and Scotty does eventually get a drop toe hold and a comeback but Theory cuts him off quickly and gets the win with the A-Town Down.
WINNER and STILL WWE United States Champion: Austin Theory (5:10) | 47
HEYMAN HAS A PROPOSITION
Cody Rhodes comes to the ring to cut a promo. Before he can really begin, he is interrupted by Paul Heyman. Heyman walks down to the ring and joins Cody. Heyman says that now that Roman has a match on both nights, Cody has an unfair advantage and tries to goad Cody into agreeing to fight on Night One but Cody admits that he's happy to have a match on Night One also. He says WrestleMania X is one of his favorite wrestling events ever so if he can follow in Bret Hart's footsteps and wrestle twice, he'd be happy to do so. Paul asks if Cody is willing to let him find Cody's opponent and Cody smiles and tells him to "do your worst." Heyman nods his head and then puts a finger on his chin to indicate that he's thinking. Finally he says "ok" over and over, getting more and more excited as he goes before he finally breaks out in a smile from ear-to-ear. Heyman quickly scurries to the back and Cody continues his promo. He says that it doesn't matter who Heyman gets to be Cody's opponent on Saturday night because when Night 2 of WrestleMania ends on Sunday night, Cody Rhodes will be standing in the ring holding the World Heavyweight Championship over his head and celebrating while Roman Reigns will be the one laying on the mat staring up at the ceiling and knowing his reign on top of WWE is finally over. | 88
UPDATE
Before the #1 contender triple threat match begins the announcers mention that this match was originally scheduled to be a Fatal 4-Way with Randy Orton and Matt Riddle being in the match as well. They state that due to circumstances beyond WWE's control, Matt Riddle was unable to compete tonight and so RKBro has been removed from the match despite having made their return to WWE Saturday night at No Way Out. They specifically mention that Randy Orton is back and will be making his return to Raw next Monday night. Weird. | NOT RATED (SEGMENT ADDED BY ME FOR REASONS I WILL EXPLAIN LATER IN THIS POST)
#1 CONTENDER TRIPLE THREAT MATCH: THE GOOD BROTHERS |VS| THE STREET PROFITS |VS| ALPHA ACADEMY
Good triple threat with lots of action. Montez Ford and Chad Gable are the big stars here as they work circles around everyone else. A cool finish sees The Good Brothers going for a Doomsday Device-style move on Montez Ford. Gallows puts Ford on his shoulders in a powerbomb position and Anderson goes to the second turnbuckle for a move but Angelo Dawkins dropkicked Gallows into the corner and Ford grabbed Anderson and superplexed him off of Gallows shoulders. Ford covered Anderson and Gable tried to break up the pin but Dawkins stopped him and the Street Profits picked up the win.
WINNERS by pinfall: The Street Profits (17:06) | 68
POST-MATCH ATTACK
After the match ends, the Usos hit the ring from the crowd and attack the Street Profits with steel chairs and lay them both out with superkicks. The Usos stand tall, holding both sets of tag titles over their heads as the announcers mention these two teams will meet for both sets of titles next week on Raw. | 65
MAIN EVENT -- AJ STYLES |VS| SETH FREAKIN' ROLLINS
The announcers make a point to mention that both men are flying solo tonight without their tag team backup from No Way Out on Saturday. Styles and Rollins begin brawling immediately and they have a pretty good main event. Both men get a few near falls and hit some big moves. Rollins nearly wins with a brainbuster/Falcon Arrow combo but AJ gets a foot on the bottom rope. Rollins misses a Stomp from the mat, and then one from the second turnbuckle. He collapses to the mat holding his knee and AJ goes to take advantage but Rollins hits a low blow that the referee didn't see and then a running knee and then finally hits the Stomp for the pinfall victory.
WINNER by pinfall: Seth Freakin' Rollins (16:50) | 69
OWENS AND ZAYN CONFRONTATION
After the main event, Kevin Owens is shown walking to the ring and it's announced that he will be addressing the crowd after the final commercial break. After the break, Owens comes out. He talks for a bit about the expectations he had heading into No Way Out. He admits that his intention was to do everything he could to help Sami Zayn win the Elimination Chamber and get a shot at Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. He says he didn't, for a second, expect to do what he did at the end of the match. But when Paul Heyman announced that whoever won the match was going to face Roman, KO says he had no other choice. Getting revenge on Roman Reigns, ending the Bloodline, and becoming WWE Universal Champion have been the only three goals Owens has had for the last year and a half. He was suddenly one pinfall away from having a chance to obtain all three goals at once, and at WrestleMania no less. He's interrupted by Sami Zayn who walks out with no music and a microphone in hand. Sami says he's heard enough and that while he respects Owens' answer and believes that Kevin is telling the truth, Sami has one question: Why the low blow? Why not just fight Sami like a man, beat him fair and square, and move on? Owens laughs and tells Sami that he doesn't see it. Sami doesn't see that the only way Owens was walking out of there the winner was to do what he did. Sami was so intense, so hungry for a win, that KO had no chance unless he kicked Sami in the balls. Owens says that Zayn is incredible because he just had the biggest match of his career, had an entire arena -- an entire city -- in the palm of his hands and yet he still doesn't realize just how good he is. Owens tells Sami that he's not going to apologize to Sami for winning or even for how he won. Sami says he doesn't want an apology. He wants a chance. Owens promises Sami that he'll give him a shot at the title after he beats Roman at WrestleMania. Owens goes to walk away and then stops and asks Sami if he'll consider being in Owens' corner for the main event of Night One. Sami puts his head down and thinks and then says that he promises he'll be there -- but he's not going to be in Owens' corner. He's going to be Owens' opponent. KO looks confused and Sami vows to move heaven and earth to get into that match. He says he won't rest until William Regal or someone else with power agrees to add Sami to the match -- or until he takes the spot from Roman Reigns OR Kevin Owens. Sami doesn't care how it happens but he's going to WrestleMania and he's going to walk out as Universal Champion. Owens looks bemused as Zayn slams the mic down and the crowd begins chanting "WE WANT SAMI!" as the show goes off the air. | 74
OVERALL RATING: 76

MATT RIDDLE RELEASED
A strange segment occurred during the Monday Night Raw broadcast tonight where announcer Kevin Patrick spoke directly to the camera to announce that RKBro had been pulled from a scheduled tag team match due to "circumstances out of WWE's control." He also specifically mentioned that Randy Orton will be returning to Raw next week. Our sources indicate that this was done as a way to explain why the returning RKBro was not used on Monday night's show despite returning two days prior at No Way Out when they teamed with AJ Styles against Seth Rollins and the Good Brothers.
Riddle and Orton were pulled from the Raw plans after Riddle failed yet another drug test. He had been off of tv for a few weeks for unknown reasons and apparently failing a drug test on his first night back was the final straw for Triple H and WWE and they immediately sent Riddle home and fired him. WWE has not commented on this report and as not posted anything on their website or social media confirming this story but it certainly appears Matt Riddle's days in WWE are over.
