THE REAL LEGEND KILLER

The hometown hero Randy Orton comes out to open the show. He talks about his recovery from his injury and returning home. He mentions his family and friends in the crowd. Then he turns his attention to his opponent for tonight, Austin Theory. Orton says that Theory is coming out here every week beating up 60 year old men and claiming to be some kind of legend killer but there's one man in WWE who knows what it means to be called the Legend Killer and he's...Theory interrupts. Theory says Orton doesn't realize that he's on the wrong side of the Legend Killer debate now. Theory says that Orton is now the legend and Theory is the one hunting him. Orton tells Theory to shut the hell up and says that no one is going to tell Randy Orton that he's being hunted or whatever. Orton is the hunter -- always has been. And tonight he's going to kick Theory's ass and take his title. Theory smirks and says he can't wait to pin Orton in the middle of the ring and prove him wrong tonight. | 72

MONEY IN THE BANK QUALIFYING MATCH: CEDRIC ALEXANDER |VS| RICK BOOGS

This was supposed to be Cedric versus Shelton Benjamin but Benjamin got hurt during the Main Event taping before Raw and so Rick Boogs was the substitution. The match was competitive to start but Cedric took over following a back body drop to the floor. Boogs made a small comeback but Elias came out and distracted him, allowing Cedric to hit the Lumbar Check for the win.

WINNER by pinfall: Cedric Alexander (5:12) | 45

MVP LOUNGE -- BROCK AND BOBBY

After a commercial break the ring is set up for the MVP Lounge. MVP is standing in the ring and he says that last week he approached Raw General Manager Mick Foley and asked him what it would take to get a Lashley/Lesnar match at WrestleMania. MVP says that the WWE officials banding together to refuse to referee a match between the two men was making it impossible to have the match. So, as he always does, he found a solution. MVP says he found a referee who not only will be able to handle two men the caliber of Lashley and Lesnar but one who would not be intimidated by them. MVP says that he can officially announce that at WrestleMania, Bobby Lashley will face Brock Lesnar in a match where the only to win is by Submission or Knockout. And the special guest referee will be...DANIEL CORMIER! Cormier comes down to the ring and shakes MVP's hand. Cormier is excited to be at WrestleMania and says he won't be intimidated by either man. Brock Lesnar's music plays and Brock storms out. He grabs MVP by the lapels and shakes him. Lesnar then starts laughing and sets MVP down and pats him on the head. Lesnar says he doesn't like Cormier at all -- but he respects him. Lashley comes charging down to the ring and tries to get at Lesnar but Cormier holds him back. Road agents and security hit the ring. Lashley gets free and Lesnar tries to attack him but he gets held back by Cormier too. Eventually everyone heads to the back without further incident. | 71

MONEY IN THE BANK QUALIFIER: PIPER NIVEN |VS| CANDICE LERAE

Piper Niven qualifies for the women's Money In The Bank Match with a win over Candice in about 12 minutes. Candice looked good for most of the match but she went for a spinning ddt and Piper caught her and hit a powerslam, a big splash and then a sit-out powerbomb for the win.

WINNER by pinfall: Piper Niven (11:51) | 56

SETH'S OPPONENT ANNOUNCED

Seth Freakin' Rollins is out next. He says it's time for Mick Foley to live up to his word. He says Foley promised him he'd know his WrestleMania opponent weeks before Mania and it's getting down to the wire. Foley comes out to a big pop and tells Seth that he's happy that the contract has been signed and the all of the issues have been worked out so Mick can reveal Seth's opponent for WrestleMania. Seth rubs his hands eagerly and asks Foley who it is. Foley pitches to a vignette. The vignette builds slowly. Distorted close-up shots of someone working out in a ring. We see white boots and white knee pads. The distortion eases a bit and we see someone standing in a ring with their back turned to the camera. People in the arena figure it out and start to pop as the man turns around to reveal...KOTA IBUSHI! The announcers go crazy, putting Ibushi over as a huge star. Seth is stunned. Foley says Kota's name and then asks Seth if he did alright finding Seth an opponent. A stunned Rollins drops his microphone and just leaves the ring leaving Foley standing there confused as the announcers put over who Ibushi is and why this is a big deal. | 65

BIANCA AND RHEA CONTRACT SIGNING

Bianca and Rhea meet in the ring to sign their contract for WrestleMania. They begin by exchanging words and Bianca gets the better of Rhea by pointing out all the times she's beaten Rhea. But Rhea threatens Bianca's husband Montez Ford and Bianca gets angry and flips the table and the two women begin to brawl. Rhea goes to chokeslam Bianca through the table but Bianca avoids it and hits the KOD on Rhea through the table. Bianca holds the WWE World Women's Championship over her head and looks down at Rhea and begins to say something to her but Rhea kicks her in the stomach and gets to her feet. Rhea takes the belt and slams it into Bianca's face and knocks her to the floor. Rhea stands tall in the ring as the show goes to commercial. | 89

THE A-LISTERS (THE MIZ, DOLPH ZIGGLER & ROBERT ROODE) |VS| AJ STYLES & THE STREET PROFITS

A good six-man tag that builds slowly and allows everyone to get some offense in. The story of the match is that Robert Roode doesn't seem to get along with Miz and Ziggler and at one point he argues with Miz and walks off in anger but only gets halfway to the stage before turning around and coming back to the ring. The finish comes when AJ hits the Phenomenal Forearm onto Dolph, knocking him into Angelo Dawkins who hits the D'Lo Brown Sky High powerbomb and then Montez Ford leaps off the top rope for a big splash and covers Dolph for the win.

WINNERS by pinfall: AJ Styles and the Street Profits (14:48) | 67

A PARTNER IS ANNOUNCED

Next up Edge and Rey Mysterio come down to the ring to make an announcement regarding their WrestleMania match. As they begin to talk, Finn Balor, Damian Priest, and Dominik Mysterio come out onto the stage. Balor makes snoring noises and calls Edge and Rey boring. Priest says that this is a pointless endeavor because Edge and Rey don't have any friends. Priest says every major WWE superstar has been accounted for at WrestleMania and so there isn't anyone they can find to be their partner who Judgment Day has to worry about. Edge tells them that they're right that most WWE superstars are already busy for WrestleMania. But their partner isn't an active WWE superstar. Dom laughs and asks what old loser they're bringing back to team with them. Suddenly BATISTA'S music hits and the crowd pops as Batista appears on the big screen. He says that he'd love to be there in person to help his good friends Edge and Rey kick some Judgment Day ass but he's busy getting into shape for what will be the last match of his career. Batista says there's no way he's going to allow himself to go out on a losing note and that he intends to Batista Bomb everyone in Judgment Day if that's what it takes. After the promo Judgment Day look stunned and concerned while Edge and Rey laugh and tell them they'll see them at WrestleMania. | 74

MONEY IN THE BANK QUALIFIER: MATT CARDONA |VS| ROB VAN DAM

The entire point of this match is to let Cardona look like a vicious heel. He beats the hell out of RVD and doesn't let up. RVD gets some offense in near the end after a desperation spin kick knocks Cardona into the corner. But eventually Cardona wins with the Rough Ryder.

WINNER by pinfall: Matt Cardona (6:11) | 59

WRESTLEMANIA HOSTS?

Out of the blue the Bellas music hits and the crowd pops as Brie and Nikki come out to the ring. A "WELCOME BACK!" chant begins and they play to the crowd a bit before talking. Nikki says it's amazing to be back and they're so proud to be here tonight to announce that they have signed on to be the hosts of WrestleMania this year. Suddenly Damage CTRL's music hits and Bayley, Dakota Kai, and Iyo Sky come out onto the stage. Bayley calls the Bellas old and asks who let them leave the nursing home. Brie asks Bayley what exactly she wants and Bayley says she's out here to make a point. Bayley says Dakota and Iyo are the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions and they still do not have a match for WrestleMania but someone in the front office can strike a deal with the Bellas to stand in the ring all dressed up at WrestleMania? It's ridiculous. Nikki says that when the Bellas were around they were always a part of WrestleMania and if they weren't they'd go out of their way to force themselves onto the show. Bayley agrees that that's what Damage CTRL is going to have to do and then sends them down to the ring. Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky storm down to the ring and slide in the ring and approach the Bellas. Dakota shoves Brie and Iyo starts trash talking Nikki until Tegan Nox and Shotzi rush down to the ring and run Damage CTRL off. | 54

ALDIS PROMO

Up next is a pre-taped promo from Nick Aldis. He says his injury has healed and he'll be back next week taking part in the Last Chance Money In The Bank Qualifying Match. A match he intends to win. Aldis says he will go to his first WrestleMania and he will win the Money In The Bank Ladder Match. | 64

CAMERON GRIMES & MUSTAFA ALI |VS| ALPHA ACADEMY

Before the match the announcers explain that this match came about because Grimes and Gable were going back-and-forth on Twitter and Gable challenged Grimes to find a partner. It's a good match and Grimes looks really good. The announcers mention that he will be in the Last Chance Match next week as well. Grimes nearly wins with the Cave In but Otis breaks up the pin. Eventually Mustafa Ali is hit with a German suplex by Gable and Otis immediately squashes him with a splash for the win.

WINNERS by pinfall: Alpha Academy (11:21) | 57

SAMI HAS A REQUEST

Sami and KO are talking backstage and Sami asks Owens to promise he won't interfere in Sami's handicap match coming up on SmackDown. Owens sits there silently for a moment but eventually tells Sami that he won't make any promises. Owens says he has to do what's best for his career and he'll never apologize for that. Sami says he understands that and respects that but if the shoe was on the other foot, Sami would be happy to have Owens added to the match. Owens tells Sami that they're not the same and Sami needs to remember that Owens is way more ruthless than Sami will ever be. Owens walks off. | 87

CIAMPA PROMO

Tommaso Ciampa cuts a pre-recorded promo. He, too, is in the Last Chance MITB Qualifying Match next week and he doesn't care who else is in that match, Ciampa will win. He has to. | 63

WWE HALL OF FAME CLASS OF 2023 ANNOUNCEMENT

A video airs announcing that BULL NAKANO will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2023. | 31

MAIN EVENT -- UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP: AUSTIN THEORY (C) |VS| RANDY ORTON

A good match while it lasts. Orton controls to start but Theory lifts Orton up and crotches him on the top rope and then takes over. Theory talks lots of trash while he's beating on Orton. But Orton turns the tides again and sets Theory up for an RKO. Theory sees it coming and shoves Orton away and then kicks him in the groin. The referee immediately disqualifies Theory and awards the match to Orton.

WINNER by disqualification: Randy Orton (17:27) | 63

FINALLY FACE-TO-FACE

Tonight's main event is a confrontation between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns. Cody is out first. Before he can say much of anything Roman Reigns' music hits and Roman and Paul Heyman come down to the ring. Cody thanks Roman for coming here and admits that his ribs still hurt from Roman's sneak attack on Friday night. Cody then says that he and Roman have a lot in common. They're both second generation wrestlers. They both come from well known wrestling families. They were both high level athletes before getting into professional wrestling. But one thing they don't have in common, according to Cody, is a love of pro wrestling. Cody says he loves professional wrestling. It lights him up. It gets his blood pumping. He'd be out here wrestling anyone who'd be willing to step in the ring with him even if there were no fans and he wasn't getting paid. Cody lives, breathes, eats, sleeps -- wrestling. But he doesn't think Roman loves wrestling. Roman clearly loves power. He loves money. He loves getting his ego stroked and gaslighting his own family members to do his bidding. But Roman doesn't love wrestling. Roman cuts him off. Roman can't believe that Cody would think he doesn't love wrestling. Roman says he wouldn't have put in the work if he didn't love it. He wouldn't have put in the miles if he didn't love it. He wouldn't have dealt with the utter disrespect of an ungrateful fanbase if he didn't love it. Roman says Cody doesn't have an idea of what makes Roman tick. Roman says he is here tonight because he has a desire to prove that he is the greatest of all-time. Cody admits that Roman does have a claim to being the GOAT. Cody says he respects Roman's talent. But when Cody looks him in the eyes -- he sees someone who can't wait to finally lose so he can go home and find anything else to do. Roman is getting annoyed by Cody's comments and he begins balling his fists but Paul Heyman steps in and takes the mic. Heyman tells Cody that Dusty saw Roman's desire and love for this sport first-hand. Roman rips the mic out of Heyman's hands and steps in front of him, getting in Cody's face. Roman says that Dusty saw more in him than he ever did in Cody. He tells Cody that Roman was the son Dusty always wanted. Cody has heard enough and he tackles Roman. Heyman bails and screams for help and the Bloodline quickly makes an appearance. They slide into the ring and grab Cody. | 87

BRAWL TO END THE SHOW

Solo Sikoa and the Usos begin kicking and punching Cody until Sami Zayn rushes out with a chair and slides into the ring. He slams the chair into Solo's back but he turns around and Roman spears him. The Usos hold Cody up and Roman hits a spear on him. The Usos kick and stomp Cody right in the ribs and then pick him up and hold him in place. Roman charges but Kevin Owens slides into the ring from out of nowhere and hits a pop-up powerbomb on Roman and then superkicks Jey Uso before Solo Sikoa tackles him. Paul Heyman gathers Roman's belts and Roman and Heyman flee, leaving the Usos and Solo to brawl in the ring with Cody, Sami, and KO as the show goes off the air. | 74

- Shawn Michaels opens the show with a big announcement regarding the NXT Championship. He says that after last week's match failed to crown an interim champion, Bron Breakker remains the only NXT Champion. Michaels says Bron is expected to be cleared to return to action by the end of next week so he will be able to compete at Stand And Deliver 2. Therefore HBK is announcing the main event tonight. It will be Bron Breakker, Grayson Waller, Bronson Reed, and Gable Steveson in a Ladder Match for the NXT Championship. | 77

CODY HYPES UP SAMI

After the SmackDown opening we see Cody Rhodes backstage with Sami Zayn. Cody is telling Sami that he can do it, he can win tonight. Cody gives Sami a pep talk and tells him he'll have his back tonight if he needs it. | 66

MONEY IN THE BANK QUALIFIER: RICOCHET |VS| ANGEL GARZA

A really good opener. The crowd is hot to start but they get even hotter because these guys have amazing chemistry and have a fantastic match. Angel gets a couple near falls but ultimately Ricochet hits a 450 legdrop for the win.

WINNER by pinfall: Ricochet (10:44) | 71

RONDA CALLS OUT SASHA

WWE Universal Women's Champion Ronda Rousey is backstage with Kayla Braxton. Kayla asks Ronda about her upcoming match with Sasha Banks next week and the Five-Way match at WrestleMania. Ronda says that Sasha calls herself the Boss but Ronda doesn't take orders from anyone. She says next week Sasha is going to pay for running her mouth. And then at WrestleMania, Ronda will be able to add an accomplishment to her legacy -- defeating all four of the WWE's "Four Horsewomen" in one match. | 59

ROMAN GIVES INSTRUCTIONS

Backstage in the Bloodline locker room Roman Reigns is speaking to the Usos and Solo Sikoa. We can hear him giving them instructions but suddenly Paul Heyman clears his throat and Roman turns to the camera and says that he realizes the camera is on him so he cuts a promo on Cody Rhodes and says Cody trying to help Sami get into the WWE Universal Championship Match is sad. Cody is afraid that he won't beat Roman so he's trying to assure that Roman loses one of his titles by making the other match a triple threat. Roman says that Cody is going to be wrong and he is going to retain the title on Saturday and then beat Cody on Sunday and that his reign will continue. Forever. Roman kicks the camera man out of the room and then turns back to the Bloodline. | 81

MONEY IN THE BANK QUALIFIER: TEGAN NOX |VS| ZELINA VEGA

Tegan gets to shine early but Zelina cuts her off with a running knee and then controls the match until the finish. Vega hits a moonsault and gets the pinfall victory.

DREW GULAK |VS| JINDER MAHAL

Gulak seems to be getting a push because they let him basically squash Jinder and pick up a win. The announcers also mentioned that Gulak was going to be a part of the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania, which is the first they've mentioned that match so maybe Gulak is going to go far in it?

WINNER by submission: Drew Gulak (12:23) | 58

GUNTHER AND CENA CONFRONTATION

After a commercial break John Cena's music hits and he comes out to a huge ovation. He gets in the ring and starts to talk about his WrestleMania match with Gunther. Cena says that he saw SmackDown last week and he saw Gunther call him. Cena says he runs from no one. In fact, he changed his filming schedule so he could fly in for SmackDown tonight so you can say that Cena runs to people, not away from them. So now it's Cena's turn to call out Gunther. Gunther's music hits and he comes down to the ring. Gunther and Cena have a relatively civil in-ring confrontation where Cena tells Gunther that he isn't the first person to try to make their name off of Cena. And he won't be the first one to fail either. Gunther looks at Cena with disgust and then after a few seconds responds by saying that when he sees Cena, he doesn't see the Greatest Of All-Time. He doesn't see a movie star. He sees a broken down shell of a man. He sees a desperate former athlete who is willing to put his long-term physical health on the line to cling to a glimmer of hope that maybe he can defeat Gunther and convince the world, and himself, that he's still got it. Cena responds by saying that there's some truth in what Gunther just said. Cena says that he IS trying to prove that he can still do this. Cena admits that being the first man eliminated from the Royal Rumble was a massive blow to his ego and now he's pretty damn desperate to prove that he can still go. But he's not trying to impress the fans -- they know who Cena was, who Cena is, and they've already determined who he will be forever. Cena says he's trying to prove it to himself. Because for the first time in his life Cena is has self doubt. For the first time ever he's not at all confident. Cena says he's been working out harder than ever and he isn't going to quit until he either proves himself and beats Gunther -- or Gunther breaks him in half. Gunther says that he is going to say something that he's never said before and something that he will never say again. Then he apologizes in advance for being the man to end the career of the great John Cena. He tells Cena that he's not leaving WrestleMania on two feet and it's up to Cena if it's in an ambulance or a hearse. Cena gets the last word by saying that he's beating bigger guys, stronger guys, and scarier guys than Gunther and he's never ever been afraid to step into the ring. As soon as Cena finishes his last sentence, Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci hit the ring behind Cena and attack him. Cena fights back and clotheslines Vinci out of the ring and then throws Kaiser over the top rope. He turns around and Gunther seems to be contemplating his move. Cena raises his fists and Gunther smirks and then slowly backs toward the ropes and exits the ring himself. | 56

CHARLOTTE FLAIR |VS| JESSAMYN DUKE

Charlotte looked awesome but Duke is clearly still a work-in-progress and Charlotte had to work hard to get as much out of her as she did. Charlotte got the win the Figure 8 after working over Jessamyn's knee and back for the entire match.

INTIMIDATION FACTOR

Pat McAfee is in the ring and he welcomes his guest, Daniel Cormier. Cormier comes to the ring and McAfee asks him about refereeing the fight between Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley. Cormier says he's excited to be in WWE and when he was contacted by Mick Foley to see if he'd be interested in coming in to referee this match he said yes without hesitation. Cormier says he's a huge WWE fan and Lesnar vs Lashley is a fight he's ridiculously excited to see. McAfee asks him if he has any concerns and Cormier says no. He says Lesnar and Lashley are special talents and great fighters but Cormier says he can handle his own and he will not hesitate to get physical if need be. Suddenly Brock Lesnar's music hits and Lesnar storms to the ring. Lesnar climbs in the ring and gets in Cormier's face and tries to intimidate him by telling him that if Cormier puts his hands on Lesnar that it will be the biggest mistake of Cormier's life. | 75

A video airs that goes over the history of Drew McIntyre and Sheamus and hypes up the McIntyre & Tyson Fury vs Sheamus & Ridge Holland match for WrestleMania. | 72

GOLDBERG IS NEXT

Goldberg is out next. He says he wants to address what happened with Bray Wyatt last week. Goldberg says he's agreed to face Bray at WrestleMania and that Wyatt really woke him up last week. Goldberg says he's not into this "mind games/supernatural BS" and just plans on going to WM and kicking Bray's ass. Goldberg tells Bray that he hopes he has a couple dozen more personalities who he can convince a bunch of clowns to play pretend as because it's going to take more than just two people to put Goldberg down at WrestleMania. The lights go out and Wyatt appears on the big screen. Wyatt is laughing. He says that Goldberg "killed the world." Bray says that Goldberg is an evil man who split Bray's world in two and now he must pay. Bray was clearly angered by Goldberg's suggestion that he's playing mind games as Wyatt says that his isn't a game to him and he's not playing. Bray says that he was suffering and looking for direction until Uncle Howdy revealed himself and showed Bray the way. He says Uncle Howdy revealed the truth to Bray -- that Goldberg killed the world! And anyone who would do such a heinous thing has to be punished. Bray starts laughing again and Uncle Howdy attacks Goldberg from behind but Goldberg fights him off and whips him into the ropes and spears him. As Uncle Howdy lays on the mat Goldberg stands over him and bends down and removes Howdy's mask but long black hair covers his face and the lights go back out. They flash back on and we see what appears to be THE FIEND standing in the corner behind Goldberg as he looks at the Uncle Howdy mask. They go out back out again and then come back on and Goldberg is standing by himself in the ring looking confused. | 100

MAIN EVENT -- SAMI ZAYN |VS| THE USOS & SOLO SIKOA

The heels enter first and then Sami. But Sami doesn't come out when his music hits. He hops the barricade from the crowd and slides in the ring with a chair and begins wailing away on the heels. His advantage doesn't last real long as the numbers game catches up to him and the heels eventually take over. They beat Sami all over the ring for a bit and Solo hits a Samoan Drop but only gets a two count. The Usos hit Sami with superkicks but still only get a two count. The crowd chants for Sami and Sami responds by kicking out of everything. Eventually Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman begin walking down to the ring. They're cut off out of nowhere by Cody Rhodes. He has a stand-off in the aisle way with Reigns and Heyman. Cody and Reigns begin shoving each other and road agents rush out to break them up. Solo Sikoa leaves the ring to go attack Cody and that allows Sami to start his comeback as he dodges a Jimmy Uso superkick and Jimmy kicks Jey instead. Sami hits a Blue Thunder Bomb on Jimmy and covers him but Jey superkicks Sami to break up the pin. Jey goes up to the top rope and goes for a big splash but Sami moves. Sami uses the ropes to pull himself up. He back body drops a charging Jimmy Uso and then hits a Helluva Kick on Jey. He covers Jey but Solo Sikoa pulls Sami off and goes for the Samoan Spike but Sami ducks it. Paul Heyman throws the Tag Team titles into the ring and Jey Uso grabs one. We get shots of Cody and Roman being escorted to the back while they are arguing. Jey is about to charge at Sami and hit him with the belt but he's waiting for Sami to turn around. Before he can, someone grabs his leg and pulls him down and out of the ring. It's KEVIN OWENS! Solo grabs Sami and whips him into the corner. He charges but Sami moves. Sami hits a Helluva Kick on Solo. Solo falls to the mat and rolls outside. Jimmy slides back in and goes for a superkick to Sami but Sami catches his foot, spins him around, kicks him in the midsection and then hits the Blue Thunder Bomb for the pinfall victory!

A CONFRONTATION

As Sami celebrates in the ring, Kevin Owens climbs in and walks up behind Sami. He grabs Sami's shoulder and spins him around. The two men pause and look at one another and then KO offers his hand for Sami to shake. Sami does and KO raises his hand in victory before leaving to let Sami celebrate in the ring as the show goes off the air. | 69

IS KEVIN OWENS A MORON?

The show opens with Kevin Owens coming to the ring to discuss his actions on SmackDown. He says that his social media feed was fun all weekend and he blocked a lot of idiots. Everyone wants to think they know why Kevin helped Sami Zayn win and essentially put Sami in the main event of Night 1. Owens says that his decision was made for two reasons: first off, Owens says he realizes he was an afterthought before this. Everything was about Sami. Will he make it into the match? Should he be in the match? Hell, even Roman was obsessed with Sami. And normally, KO says, he'd love flying under the radar heading into the WrestleMania main event but that's not really how he likes to do things. But the second reason is, Sami deserves it. He deserves to be able to say that he main evented WrestleMania. KO says Sami isn't going to win and now Kevin can pin Roman OR Sami to win the title. Paul Heyman interrupts. He starts walking down the aisle with a microphone and calls KO a moron. He says it was the dumbest decision anyone has ever made. Heyman says that everyone knows he doesn't have a lot of respect for Sami Zayn but even Paul will admit that he can be a formidable opponent. AND YOU WANT TO ADD HIM TO THE MATCH!? Heyman calls it the single biggest mistake in WWE history. Owens replies that Paul sounds scared. He sounds like someone who knows their meal ticket is about to be cut off in 12 days. Paul tells Owens that there will never be a day where Owens pins Roman. Owen smiles and reminds Heyman that he doesn't have to pin Roman. He just has to pin Sami. | 88

WWE WOMEN'S TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: DAKOTA KAI & IYO SKY (C) |VS| TEGAN NOX & SHOTZI BLACKHEART

Good match where the challengers are allowed to look strong. Nox and Shotzi have good chemistry. The match ends with Dakota and Iyo knocking Tegan out of the ring and then hitting a double team 3D on Shotzi for the win.

After the match, Tegan climbs back into the ring to check on Shotzi and Dakota and Iyo jump her and begin kicking and stomping both of their opponents until THE BELLAS rush out and the Women's Tag Team Champions flee. | 53

Cody Rhodes and Sami Zayn cut a backstage promo on the Usos and talk about how their match in tonight's main event is important for momentum purposes if nothing else. Cody says that tonight they send a message that the Bloodline's reign at the top of WWE is going to be over at WrestleMania. | 79

CANDICE LERAE |VS| CHELSEA GREEN

Chelsea Green picked up the win in a decent match. Candice was in control for much of the match but Chelsea thumbed her in the eye and rolled her up. Chelsea got extra leverage by putting her feet on the ropes during the pin.

DEMANDS ARE MADE

Mick Foley is backstage with Cathy Kelley and he's about to make an announcement when Damage CTRL enters the picture. Dakota and Iyo say they want to put their Women's Tag Team Championship on the line at WrestleMania against the Bellas. Bayley backs them up and says that the Bellas need to pay for sticking their noses in Damage CTRL business. Foley assures the women that he was planning on making that match anyway and they walk away happy. | 63

AMBUSH

Byron Saxton is standing by with Montez Ford when he is approached by Rhea Ripley. Rhea starts flirting with Montez and he tells her he's not interested and suddenly he's jumped from behind by Dominik Mysterio. Dom knocks Montez down to the floor and Rhea begins kicking and stomping him. Bianca flies into the picture and knocks Rhea backwards and grabs Dom by the shirt and throws him off of Montez. Bianca tells Rhea that if the two of them want a fight, she'll give them one later tonight. | 86

Theory cuts a quick promo on Foley for giving him some bum for an opponent. Foley says Theory's opponent isn't a bum at all. It's actually going to be...RANDY ORTON! The crowd in the arena pops and Theory is beside himself in anger and then storms off. | 68

FINN BALOR & DAMIAN PRIEST |VS| ALEX OCEAN & RYZIN

Squash match to give Judgment Day a win as we get closer to WrestleMania.

PROMO INTERRUPTED

After the match Balor and Priest cut a promo in the ring. They begin to talk about their six-man tag at WrestleMania and how the idea that Batista is going to come in and be a force to stop them is hilariously misguided. Balor says that Priest is going to make sure Batista can never wrestle again. He says that he is going to end Edge's career and Dom is going to break his father's heart and force him to retire. It's going to be 3 retirements in 1 match! Edge's music hits and Edge and Rey come out onto the stage to respond. Edge says that he realizes he's approaching the end of his career. He knows he has limited time left inside that ring. But when he envisions his final match and his final moments inside that ring he knows that they won't be spent losing to the Dipshit Brigade. Priest replies that it's funny how they're the Dipshit Brigade now but when Edge recruited him and Rhea to be in the group they were future stars. Edge says he's right, they were future stars. And maybe they still are. But as long as they're running around with Finn Balor and his goofy ass, they'll be dipshits by association. Balor tells Edge he has a lot of nerve calling anyone names when Finn successfully supplanted him as leader of Judgment Day and will end his career at WrestleMania. Rey chimes in to say that he wants to apologize to Finn, Damian, and Rhea. He says he used to blame them for corrupting Dominik and turning him on his family. But now he realizes that Dominik is just a little punk and he needs to learn his lesson. Rey says he's looking forward to teaching him that lesson at WrestleMania. Edge then tells Finn that if he had let Edge stay in charge of Judgment Day for longer, Finn may have learned a thing or two about mind games. And he'd know that right now is a bad time to be standing in the ring. Suddenly the lights go out and when they come back on Balor and Priest are drenched in a red ooze like substance. Corey Graves is going crazy talking about it being a bloodbath ala The Brood! | 90

WRESTLEMANIA ANNOUNCEMENT

After a commercial break, while the ring is presumably being cleaned up from the last segment, Kevin Patrick and Corey Graves announce that this year the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal returns to WrestleMania and will take place on Night 1. They then announce a brand-new women's contest for WrestleMania and pitch to a video about the late, great "Sensational" Sherri Martel and the announcement of the rebranding of the WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal as the Sensational Invitational Battle Royal. They announce that match will take place on Night 2 of WrestleMania. | 49

BLOODLINE CELEBRATION

Backstage Paul Heyman and the Usos are standing in the Bloodline's locker room with Solo Sikoa. They're praising him for his battle royal win earlier and Heyman tells Solo that being in the MITB match is huge for the Bloodline and that if Solo wins the Bloodline has protection against something unforeseen happening, like Roman losing one or both titles at WrestleMania. The mood immediately changes and the Usos look at Paul incredulously and remind him that Roman Reigns isn't losing at Mania. Heyman's voice quivers as he realizes what he said and he quickly apologizes and agrees that Roman isn't going to lose. | 78

RHEA RIPLEY & DOMINIK MYSTERIO |VS| WWE WORLD WOMEN'S CHAMPION BIANCA BELAIR & MONTEZ FORD

This was a great match that told a great story. At the beginning every time Montez would get in the ring, Dom would tag Rhea. Rhea would come in and the referee would force Montez to tag out and Bianca to come in. Rhea and Bianca would face off a couple times but for the most part they were kept apart and the match started to really take off when Rhea cheapshotted Montez and then tagged Dominik in. Dom and Montez had a great back-and-forth and Dom and Rhea kept cheating to get Montez isolated in the heel corner. Eventually Dom missed a springboard legdrop and Montez tagged in Bianca. She didn't wait for Rhea to get in the ring and immediately picked up Dom and hit him with the KOD. But Rhea came in and booted Bianca in the face and took control again. Bianca battled back and eventually she and Rhea executed a double clothesline spot and both were down on the mat. They each made it to their corner to tag in their male partners. Montez and Dom had another great exchange that ended with a Montez implant ddt and a big splash from the top. Rhea tried to break up the pin but Bianca was on the outside and grabbed her legs to hold her back allowing Montez to get the pinfall victory.

WINNERS by pinfall: Bianca BelAir & Montez Ford (13:50) | 82

KOTA I-WHO-SHI?

Seth Freakin' Rollins was up next. He was backstage with Byron Saxton and he cut a promo on Kota Ibushi. He said that he knows who Kota is and he respects him for his in-ring ability but he doesn't understand why Mick Foley would sign a guy like Ibushi who is more of an actor and a gymnast than a wrestler. He says Ibushi is a great performer but he's not a trained fighter. He says that in Japan Ibushi learned how to do moves and learned how to beat other wrestlers but he can't beat someone who knows how to fight. Seth says that he the art of pro wrestling, being able to take your opponent down to the mat and forcefully pin him to the mat for three seconds is a skill that very few people can do at an elite level. Seth says Kota is one of those people. But so is Seth. He says the biggest difference between he and Kota is that Seth has also learned how to beat people up. Seth says he was in the Shield. He was in the Authority. Those groups allowed him to develop his mean streak, his dark side. And at WrestleMania that dark side is going to come out and he's going to hurt Kota Ibushi. Not because he dislikes Kota. But just because WrestleMania brings out the best, and worst, in Seth Rollins. Seth then apologizes to Kota and anyone and everyone who loves Kota because Seth is going to hurt him at WrestleMania. And the only one who will deserve any blame is Mick Foley. | 66

MIZTV -- GUESTS: ASUKA, NAOMI & PIPER NIVEN

Miz calls out the Raw roster women from the women's Money In The Bank Match. Piper starts things off by immediately guaranteeing a win and making comments about Naomi quitting and says she should have never come back. Naomi cuts her off and tells her that the reason she wishes Naomi didn't come back is because she knows Naomi is going to win Money In The Bank. Piper scoffs. Asuka then reminds them that she's won Money In The Bank before and neither of them have. Piper threatens to squash Asuka right now so she won't even make it to WrestleMania. Asuka tells her to bring it on and they get in one another's face and begin to shove each other. Naomi tries to break it up but they both shove her. Eventually all three women are brawling and various road agents rush out to break it up. | 63

MATT CARDONA |VS| RICK BOOGS

Cardona picks up another win and the Boogs vs Elias feud continues. Boogs looks good early and gets in some power offense until Cardona turns things around. But Boogs eventually comes back and looks to be cruising to victory until Elias comes down to the ring and starts playing his guitar. Boogs sees him and turns his back on Cardona for a second and when he turns around Cardona hits a chinbuster and the Rough Ryder for the pinfall.

WINNER by pinfall: Matt Cardona (8:03) | 53

CORMIER AND LASHLEY CONFRONTATION

Cathy Kelley is backstage with Daniel Cormier. She asks Cormier about the match he is going to referee at WrestleMania and Cormier talks about his respect for both Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley. He says his goal as the special guest referee is to make sure it's a fair fight, free of interference and cheating. He wants the best man to win. Suddenly Bobby Lashley enters the picture. Lashley asks Cormier why MVP recruited him to referee the match. Cormier says he'll have to ask MVP that. Lashley says that if this is a set-up and MVP recruited Cormier to ambush him Lashley will break Cormier in half. Cormier takes exception to that and the two men have a heated stand-off until MVP appears and separates the two. He promises Lashley that if anything, MVP is in his corner. There's no swerve coming. MVP promised Lashley he'd help get him a match with Brock and he did. MVP follows through on his promises and he wants Lashley to remember that. Lashley tells him that he better be telling the truth and then walks off. MVP tells Cormier to forgive Lashley and says Bobby has been under a lot of stress getting ready for this fight. | 76

NON-TITLE MATCH: WWE UNDISPUTED TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS THE USOS |VS| CODY RHODES & SAMI ZAYN

These two teams go nearly 24 minutes and tell a fantastic story. The Usos struggle as they realize Rhodes and Zayn are pretty similar to them in terms of ability. This leads to the Usos pulling out a bunch of moves to try to win. We get lots of near falls and some miscommunication by Sami and Cody that almost costs them the match when Sami accidentally kicks Cody. But the babyfaces continue to work with one another and eventually they seem like they are poised to win but Solo Sikoa hits the ring and he's cut off by Kevin Owens. A six man brawl erupts and the match is thrown out. The show goes off the air with all six men brawling around ringside.

DREW MCINTYRE |VS| BUTCH

The show opens with Butch storming to the ring for the opening match. When McIntyre comes out onto the stage he is jumped from behind by Sheamus and Ridge Holland. They beat Drew down to the ring and then roll him inside where Butch immediately jumps on him. Drew fights back but Ridge trips him up and Butch goes on the attack again. This happens every time Drew starts to get momentum. The announcers make a point to mention that Tyson Fury is not here tonight but will be around next week. The referee kicks Sheamus and Ridge Holland out and the tide turns in Drew's favor. He eventually hits the Claymore Kick and covers Butch for the win.

BOOGS MAKES A CHALLENGE

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews Rick Boogs. Boogs says he's had enough of Elias and thinks they need to settle their differences in the ring next week on WrestleMania SmackDown. | 43

BAD NEWS TONIGHT WITH GUESTS: LIV MORGAN, RAQUEL RODRIGUEZ, AND ZELINA VEGA

Wade Barrett's new talk show segment debuts with the SmackDown women who will be participating in the Women's Money In The Bank ladder match. The segment starts off normal enough with each woman talking about how they will win the MITB briefcase but Zelina insults Raquel by referring to her as a carnival sideshow attraction and Raquel gets in her face. They shove each other and Liv Morgan stands there and watches until Zelina shoves her too and then all three women start to fight. The fight is broken up by referees who run to the ring to pull the women apart. | 68

LEGADO DEL FANTASMA & THE VIKING RAIDERS |VS| THE GOOD BROTHERS & LOS LOTHARIOS

A preview of one of next week's Fatal 4-Ways to determine who will face the Usos in a triple threat at WrestleMania. The Viking Raiders and Good Brothers spent the entirety of the match fighting outside and that allowed LdF and Los Lotharios to have a fantastic match inside the ring. Angel Garza pinned Cruz Del Toro after a Shooting Star Press.

During a recap of the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2023 we learn that Andy Kaufman is this year's celebrity inductee. It is also announced that MIKE TENAY is being inducted. | 44

RONDA ROUSEY SIT-DOWN INTERVIEW

Up next is a really good segment. Michael Cole sat down with Ronda Rousey to discuss her upcoming title defense at WrestleMania. Cole started off asking Ronda why it was so important to her to face all four of the so-called Four Horsewomen of WWE. Ronda explained that she and her best friends (Jessamyn Duke, Marina Shafir, and Shayna Baszler) called themselves the Four Horsewomen back when they'd train for MMA fights and it was their thing. When she heard WWE had four young women wrestlers using that nickname she laughed it off at first. But when she became a WWE superstar herself and she got to know the sport and the women themselves she started to think that they didn't deserve that name. Cole mentions Charlotte's father Ric being the leader of the original Four Horsemen and Ronda cut him off to say that she doesn't care about Ric Flair or Charlotte Flair or anyone else. Ronda says she needs to be acknowledged as the greatest woman wrestler in history or else she's not getting her due. Ronda says being the greatest female MMA fighter of all-time isn't enough for her. She says that she needs to be considered the greatest female wrestler of all-time too. And there's no better way for her to do that than cementing her legacy by defeating all four of the WWE Horsewomen in one match. Cole reminds Ronda that the odds of her winning this match are much worse than if she just wrestled someone in a one-on-one contest. Ronda gets angry with Cole and asks if he thinks she's going to lose. He sighs, swallows hard and then says yes. Ronda slaps him and grabs him by the shirt. She says that she isn't going to lose. She can't lose. She won't lose. Cole goes to chime in but thinks better of it and shuts up. Ronda uses her foot to push Cole over as he sits in the chair. She calls him a loser and then storms off. Back at ringside Cole says that the entire interview was strange and Ronda seemed to be extremely agitated and stressed out and he wonders if maybe she's realized she made a mistake asking for this match. | 65

JOHN CENA |VS| LUDWIG KAISER

The crowd is ridiculously hot for Cena. Kaiser jumps him at the bell and gets a ton of heat but Cena fights back. They exchange offense for a while and Kaiser gets a low blow on Cena and takes back over but eventually Cena turns the tide again. Giovanni Vinci tries to interfere but Cena cuts him off. He turns around into a big kick to the face and a brainbuster and a near fall. Cena reverses an Irish whip and sends Kaiser into the corner with force and then hits the Attitude Adjustment for the pin.

WINNER by pinfall: John Cena (13:17) | 73

POST-MATCH ATTACK

After the match as Cena is celebrating, Gunther slides in the ring and hammers Cena in the back of the head with the Intercontinental belt. Gunther picks Cena up and throws him into the corner. He chops Cena a few times and then whips him across the ring. Cena hits chest-first and staggers backwards. Gunther catches him and hits a short-arm clothesline and then a double powerbomb. Imperium stand over Cena as the show goes to commercial. | 87

ANDRE THE GIANT MEMORIAL AND SENSATIONAL INVITATIONAL HYPE

Next up the announcers mention the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal and the Sensational Invitational Battle Royal and discuss the men and women who will be taking part in those matches. | 43

SHINSUKE NAKAMURA |VS| RICOCHET

Before the match Nakamura is berating his young boy for not moving fast enough. For those wondering, Shinsuke's young boy is Kota Minoura who WWE signed back in February. Nakamura and Ricochet exchange kicks and strikes to start but eventually Ricochet gets going with speed and aerial moves. But Ricochet went for a Shooting Star Press and Shinsuke got his knees up and then stood up and hit the Kinshasa for the win.

BACKSTAGE ASSAULT

There's an abrupt cut to the back where a cameraman has caught an assault in progress as the Bloodline is beating up Sami Zayn in the hallway in the back. Solo slams him through a table and then picks him up and holds him while the Usos begin punching him. Sami falls to the floor and tries to cover up as the Usos and Solo start kicking and stomping him. WWE road agents rush in and break up the assault. | 73

MAIN EVENT: NON-TITLE MATCH -- WWE UNIVERSAL WOMEN'S CHAMPION RONDA ROUSEY |VS| SASHA BANKS

A pretty good tv main event. Ronda was trying to injure Sasha or at least soften her up for WrestleMania. Ronda would stall and lock Sasha in a submission or a hold designed to work over Sasha's back. Sasha gets a comeback and the crowd goes crazy for a couple near falls but Shayna Baszler comes out and Sasha is distracted, allowing Rousey to set Sasha up and hit a side kick to her jaw. Sasha collapses to the mat, unconscious and Rousey covers her for the win.

WINNER by pinfall: WWE Universal Women's Champion Ronda Rousey (15:09) | 63

DESTRUCTION

The final segment is a strange one. After a commercial break, Bray Wyatt comes out to the ring. He starts to talk about Goldberg and their WrestleMania match. He says that he's been having a lot of strange nightmares lately. Bray says he can't even close his eyes without seeing these horrible images of Goldberg laying in the middle of the ring with his face caved in. Bray says he can't get away from it and he's afraid that what he's seeing is a vision of the future. Bray warns Goldberg that bad things could happen to him at WrestleMania. The lights go out and again when they flicker we see the visage of The Fiend appear on the screen and then disappear. When the lights come back on Bray is gone and the show fades to black. | 90

A DISCUSSION AND A CHALLENGE

The show opens with Cody Rhodes coming to the ring, immediately followed by Kevin Owens and then Sami Zayn. Cody says he wanted Kevin and Sami to come out so they could discuss WrestleMania. Cody says that they are 5 days away from Owens and Zayn taking on Roman in a triple threat. And six days away from Cody...Owens interrupts and tells Cody that he doesn't need a lecture or a motivational speech. Owens says he knows what's ahead of him and he knows what he needs to do. He has to pin Roman. Or Sami. Sami says KO isn't going to pin him. Sami starts to talk about how he has been fantasizing about his first world title win since he was a kid. Sami says Owen has felt that feeling before but Sami hasn't. And he wants it more than anything in the world. Owens says that WrestleMania is going to come and go and Zayn will still be wanting it more than anything in the world. And he'll have to watch Kevin Owens raise the championship up over his head. Zayn and Owens get close to one another and seem like they're going to come to blows when Cody stands between them. He tells them to stop. He wants them to focus. He needs them to focus. But Owens doesn't care what Cody wants or needs. What Cody wants or needs isn't going to help Owens win the Universal Championship. Cody says they have a six man tag match coming up tonight and they need to focus on that. Owens walks off as Cody is in the middle of a sentence. Sami promises Cody that he has his back tonight even if Kevin doesn't. | 68

NAOMI & ASUKA |VS| NIKKI CROSS & PIPER NIVEN

Naomi and Asuka win this one but Piper Niven is made to look like a star here. Naomi and Asuka bump all over the ring for her and she dominates a good portion of the match before Nikki Cross even gets in the ring. Cross submits to the Asuka Lock for the finish.

WINNERS by submission: Naomi & Asuka (12:23) | 67

THE BELLAS PROMO

The Bellas are backstage with Cathy Kelley. They cut a promo on Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky. Nikki says that the Bellas are Hall of Famers for a reason and Dakota and Iyo are in for a rude awakening at WrestleMania. Brie says she'd love to make Dakota tap out. | 52

OPEN CHALLENGE

MVP and Omos are out in the ring. MVP promises Omos will win the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal and then issues an open challenge for right now. Mustafa Ali accepts the challenge. | 60

OMOS |VS| MUSTAFA ALI

Omos wins a squash match against Ali. Ali starts off on fire but Omos no sells all of Ali's offense and then chops him, kicks him in the stomach, and then powerbombs him for the quick win.

SETH FREAKIN' ROLLINS |VS| ROB VAN DAM

What a match this would have been if RVD was in his prime. Instead we get the 2023 version of RVD who can still do some stuff but mostly exists here to bump for Rollins. Rollins wins with the Stomp in a pretty non-descript match.

WINNER by pinfall: Seth Freakin' Rollins (8:30) | 62

ROLLINS PROMO

After the match Rollins grabs a mic and starts to cut a promo. He tells Ibushi that he should be afraid of what Seth is willing to do to win at WrestleMania. He says Ibushi has never experienced WrestleMania and he doesn't realize the level that Seth can, and will, go to in order to get a win. Seth says he lost last year and he's not going to let it happen this year. | 67

MIZTV -- BIANCA AND RHEA

This was a really excellent segment. Miz introduces WWE World Women's Champion Bianca Belair. Bianca comes out and Miz asks her about WrestleMania and she says she's excited for the match but she'd be lying if she said she wasn't a bit nervous. She says Rhea is a tremendous competitor and one of the strongest and toughest women in all of wrestling but Bianca thinks she's stronger and tougher and says she's going to retain the title at WrestleMania. Miz surprises Bianca by calling Rhea out to be a guest. Rhea comes in the ring and cuts a promo on Bianca. Rhea says Bianca is undefeated at WM because she's never faced Rhea. Rhea says that the silver lining to her loss to Charlotte at WM a few years back is that she knows what it feels like to lose at WrestleMania. Rhea says it's the worst feeling in the world and she doesn't ever want to experience that again. Rhea says she's willing to do anything and everything to prevent that. Including break every bone in Bianca's body if that's what it takes. Bianca stands up and they start to shove one another and then start fighting. They destroy the MizTV set until referees rush out to break it up. | 92

MONEY IN THE BANK PREVIEW

AJ Styles, Matt Cardona, Cedric Alexander, and Johnny Gargano come out for a segment to promote the Money In The Bank Ladder Match. They argue and eventually a match is agreed upon. Mick Foley comes out to make it official. | 64

AJ STYLES & JOHNNY GARGANO |VS| MATT CARDONA & CEDRIC ALEXANDER

A good tag match where both makeshift teams work well together. Styles gets a near fall on Cardona early on but the heels fight back and eventually Gargano is pinned by Cedric Alexander for the win.

THEORY CUTS A PROMO

Austin Theory comes down to the ring and cuts a promo on Randy Orton. Theory guarantees a win at WrestleMania. Orton comes out to respond. He says Theory is young and dumb just like Orton was at one point. Orton says guys like the Undertaker and Mick Foley, they beat respect into him. They taught him lessons in the ring and beat him up all over the ring. Orton says he will be that guy for Theory and then he's going to take his title. Orton gets in the ring and Theory attacks him. | 75

THEORY AND ORTON BRAWL

Theory beats up Orton but Orton fights back. He goes for the RKO but Theory shoves him away and then bails. Orton stands in the ring and yells at Theory. | 71

BOBBY LASHLEY |VS| ELIAS

Quick squash match to give Lashley a win heading into WrestleMania. Elias gets some offense in at the very start but Lashley practically cuts him in half with a spear and then finishes him off with a Dominator and then a pinfall.

WINNER by pinfall: Bobby Lashley (4:58) | 60

POST-MATCH ATTACK

After the match, Brock Lesnar rushes to the ring and attacks Lashley. Lesnar hits three F-5's on Lashley and then exits as WWE officials and road agents get to the ring. | 78

EDGE |VS| DAMIAN PRIEST

Good match to set the stage for Mania. Edge is worked over for most of the match. Priest wears him down with headlocks and holds. But Edge fights back and gets the upper hand again but just as he's about to hit the Spear, Finn Balor disrupts the match and attacks Edge.

WINNER by DQ: Edge (12:42) | 77

REY MAKES THE SAVE

Balor and Priest are in the ring kicking and punching Edge. Rey Mysterio runs down to the ring with a chair in hand. He slides in the ring and slams the chair into Priest's back. Priest and Balor flee as Rey checks on Edge. | 73

DOM MAKES A THREAT

After a commercial we come back to Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins getting ready for an interview with Byron Saxton. Byron asks them to comment on their triple threat match on Friday Night SmackDown. Byron says the winning team will get to be in a triple threat match for the Undisputed Tag Team Championship. Montez says that they're focused and ready Dominik Mysterio walks into the frame and starts to tell Montez Ford that he better not interfere in his wife's match against Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania. Montez scoffs and says he wouldn't ever do it because Bianca doesn't need help to beat Rhea. Dom tells Montez that he can't possibly believe that. Montez says he does and tells Dom to walk away before Montez makes him. Dom calls Montez a chump and shoves him and then Angelo Dawkins punches Dom and knocks him to the floor. Dawkins looks at the camera, shrugs, and says "Oops" to end the segment. | 75

ALDIS, ZIGGLER, AND CIAMPA CUT SEPARATE PROMOS RE: THE ARMBAR

The first promo is from Nick Aldis. Aldis says that he's still new to WWE but he has the opportunity to make a name for himself quickly by winning the battle royal and he's going to do it. Dolph Ziggler is up next and he says that he's going to begin a career resurgence with a win. And finally Tommaso Ciampa proves to be unhinged as he talks about hurting people and never mentions winning. He's just happy to have a chance to hurt people. | 66

MAIN EVENT: CODY RHODES, SAMI ZAYN & KEVIN OWENS |VS| SOLO SIKOA & THE USOS

A really good main event that gets a lot of time and the six men in the ring tell a good story. Sami is isolated by the heels buts eventually gets a tag to KO. Owens takes over for a good sequence but Jey Uso cuts him off and then KO eventually has to get a hot tag to Cody. Cody is on fire but Solo hits a running lariat to the back of Cody's head. The heels take control one more time. But the faces fight back as all six men enter the ring. Jimmy Uso is in the corner and Sami goes for the Helluva Kick but Jey Uso shoves KO and Owens ends up in the corner and Sami kicks him instead of Jimmy. Jey superkicks Sami and then a double superkick puts Owens down and both members of the Usos cover him for the pinfall.

WINNERS by pinfall: The Usos & Solo Sikoa (18:10) | 70

FIRST BRAWL

Owens recovers and gets to his feet while Cody is being attacked by the Bloodline. Owens spins Zayn around and argues with him. Their argument turns physical and they brawl to the outside. After a few seconds of brawling on the outside the crowd is buzzing and we see Roman Reigns is coming to the ring. He spears Zayn and then hits a Superman Punch on Owens. | 78

SECOND BRAWL

Reigns rolls into the ring and gets a microphone. He's about to cut a promo when Cody Rhodes frees himself from Solo Sikoa and slides in the ring to confront Reigns. Reigns sees him coming and immediately hits a spear. Cody is laid out on the mat. Roman stands over Cody, places one foot on Cody's chest and Paul Heyman hands Roman both of his belts. The show goes off the air with Roman standing over Cody with one foot on Cody's chest, holding both belts above his head. | 85

Friday -- Week 1 -- April 2023

FATAL 4-WAY TAG MATCH -- WINNERS ENTER WRESTLEMANIA TRIPLE THREAT TAG MATCH: STREET PROFITS |VS| IMPERIUM |VS| LEGADO DEL FANTASMA |VS| LOS LOTHARIOS

A really fun way to open the show. Each team gets a chance to shine a little bit. Imperium controls early with Kaiser and Vinci keeping opponents at bay while tagging in and out. But Cruz Del Toro catches Vinci with a top rope hurricanrana and then tags in his partner who hits a top rope legdrop but gets a two count when Angel Garza breaks up the pin. LdF and Los Lotharios end up brawling on the outside. Inside the ring Angelo Dawkins hits Vinci with a Sky High and Montez Ford leaps off the top rope for a big splash. The cover is broken up by Ludwig Kaiser who is then speared by Dawkins and they roll out of the ring. Montez Ford goes back up to the top and we see Vinci take something out of his boot. He leaps up and climbs up to the second turnbuckle. He goes to hit Ford with the foreign object but Ford grabs it out of his hand and throws it to the arena floor. Vinci grabs Ford for a belly-to-belly suplex but Ford somehow lands on his feet. Vinci leaps off for a flying crossbody but Ford ducks it. Vinci crashes to the mat and Kaiser is in the ring. He hits a running clothesline to Ford in the corner. Ford staggers out of the corner and Kaiser kicks him and goes for an implant ddt but Dawkins hits a clothesline. Kaiser rolls to the outside and the Street Profits hit a powerbomb/top rope splash combo on Vinci and Ford covers him for the win.

WINNERS by pinfall: The Street Profits (14:03) | 67

A THEORY ABOUT ORTON

WWE United States Champion Austin Theory is backstage with Kayla Braxton. Theory says that for the last month he was working out harder than ever before to be ready for WrestleMania. He didn't even have an opponent yet and he was busting his ass in the gym. Randy Orton, was struggling just to make it back into the ring. Theory says Orton is a legend and a future Hall of Famer but he can't possibly survive in the ring with Theory right now. Austin says that he is going to run through Orton and make him wish he hadn't returned in time for WrestleMania. And in the end, when Theory's arm is raised in victory every fan who has ever booed him or mocked him or tried to insult him on social media will have no choice but to respect Austin Theory for the way he dismantled and demolished one of the all-time greats. | 57

GUNTHER SEES HIM

John Cena is out next to a huge pop. He gets in the ring and welcomes everyone to WrestleMania weekend! He puts over the Hall of Fame ceremony tonight and starts to talk about something else when Imperium's music hits and the WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther stomps down to the ring without his Imperium teammates. Gunther gets in the ring and Cena thanks him for coming and says he's proud of Gunther for not bringing his buddies with him. Gunther tells Cena to shut up and says that he feels disrespected by Cena. Gunther says Cena isn't taking him seriously. Coming out here and talking about the HOF ceremony and Make-A-Wish and all these things while ignoring the fact that Gunther is going to decapitate Cena makes a mockery out of pro wrestling. Gunther says the ring is sacred and Cena goofing off inside of it makes him sick. Cena replies by telling Gunther that he doesn't understand how this business works. Cena says that he's been the top guy for almost 20 years. And as the top guy sometimes it's on you to come out and welcome fans to the show or promote other people or meet sick kids. Cena says it's something he takes seriously and something he's never ever taken for granted. He says it's those things and the willingness to do them that separates the top guys and the company figureheads from everybody else. If Gunther can't get that or can't understand that well then Cena is just going to have to cut him off at the knees this Sunday and make sure Gunther never earns his way to the top. Gunther replies that he's earned every opportunity he's ever gotten. Gunther says he's the best fighter in all of wrestling and he is going to prove that when he takes John Cena and breaks him in half. Gunther says that he hopes fans are savoring the chance to see Cena in the ring on Sunday because it's going to be the last time ever. Cena says he has lived his life and career by the motto "Never Give Up" and that's not about to change. Cena says he would be lying if he said he didn't have any self doubt heading into WrestleMania. But Cena won't give up, he won't quit, and he won't lose. Gunther laughs and then drives a knee into Cena's midsection and then begins hammering on him. He knocks Cena into the corner and goes to chop him but Cena moves. Cena throws some right hands and staggers Gunther, he picks him up for the Attitude Adjustment but Gunther fights out of it and exits the ring. Gunther walks up the aisle and turns around and stares at Cena as he gets onto the stage. | 96

GUITAR ON A POLE: ELIAS |VS| RICK BOOGS

Your typical gimmick match between two lower card guys but this one had more intrigue than usual because of Pat McAfee's utter hatred for Elias. McAfee said on commentary that he recruited Rick Boogs to slap Elias around because he was too busy to train for competition himself. The two men in the ring have a pretty by-the-numbers brawl. Elias hits a shoulder breaker and climbs up and grabs his guitar. But when he goes to use it, Pat McAfee leaves the announce desk and distracts Elias. Elias goes to hit McAfee with the guitar but Boogs stops him, takes the guitar and lights Elias up with it. Boogs then hits a running powerslam for the win.

WINNER by pinfall: Rick Boogs (6:45) | 54

FURY AND MCINTYRE AT THE PUB
A really good segment shows Drew McIntyre and Tyson Fury cutting a promo from an English pub somewhere in Los Angeles. McIntyre says that Sheamus says he loves to fight but NO ONE loves to fight like Tyson Fury does. Fury says that if he could make money doing it he'd be doing bare knuckle fights in the streets but there's no money in that so he boxes where there's rules and codes of conduct. Fortunately for Sheamus and Ridge Holland, Tyson says, there's rules in a WWE ring too. Drew chimes in and says that they can hurt people within the scope of the rules too. Drew tells Sheamus he'll see him tomorrow and then both men down a pint and a drinking song is played and they join in with the rest of the bar and sing. | 83

MEN'S MITB PREVIEW: AJ STYLES, RICOCHET, JOHNNY GARGANO, SANTOS ESCOBAR & BUTCH |VS| SOLO SIKOA, CEDRIC ALEXANDER, LA KNIGHT, MATT CARDONA & SHINSUKE NAKAMURA

This match could, and probably should, have been better. But it was a bit of a cluster where everyone was trying to look as good as possible. They had a traditional 10-man tag match for the first 8 or so minutes but then things devolved into a full-on brawl. As men brawled on the outside of the ring, Cedric Alexander and Santos Escobar ended up in the ring together. Escobar hit a reverse hurricanrana and then a springboard moonsault for the pinfall victory.

GLITCH IN THE MATRIX

Up next is an pre-taped Bray Wyatt promo. Wyatt says that he has clarity for the first time. He knows what he has to do. All of the voices in his head are finally combining into one solid refrain. He asks if this is how a normal man thinks -- with one voice? Bray says that he himself cannot predict the future but he has a friend who can see. His friend uses computational projections from the physical world and pairs them with readings from the metaphysical realm to see what events happen in both. Wyatt says that there have been known to be times where reality deviates from these conditions to form so-called glitches in the matrix or breaks in the fabric of reality. But his soothsayer cannot see a scenario where Bray is not victorious Sunday night. There is no way this is wrong. All realities lead to one outcome and when Bray vanquishes Goldberg from this ethereal plane he will be setting in motion a series of events that will assure Bray is dominant for years to come. | 97

FATAL 4-WAY TAG MATCH -- WINNERS ENTER WRESTLEMANIA TRIPLE THREAT TAG MATCH: NEW DAY |VS| ALPHA ACADEMY |VS| THE GOOD BROTHERS |VS| THE VIKING RAIDERS

This one is a little more straight forward and less twists and turns as the earlier match. New Day picks up the win when Xavier Woods hits a brainbuster on Karl Anderson and then tagged in Kofi who hit Trouble In Paradise as Anderson got to his feet. He covered Anderson and got the pinfall.

WINNERS by pinfall: The New Day (11:29) | 68

HEART-TO-HEART

Next up is a really good Rey and Dominik Mysterio segment. Rey is in the ring and he wants to speak to Dominik in public one last time before Mania. Dom comes out with Damian Priest and Finn Balor in tow. Rey asks them to wait on the stage but they ignore him and come to ringside. Dom gets in the ring and Rey says he really wishes things didn't end up like this. His voice sounds sorrowful and he sounds like he's going to cry as he recaps Dom's life. How happy he was when Dom was born. How it was a dream come true to get to train his own son and team with his son in WWE. Dom cuts him off and says that everyone needs to notice that Rey didn't mention anything from Dominik's childhood. Dom says Rey wasn't there. When he was home he was nursing a knee injury and couldn't play catch. He couldn't wrestle with Dom. Dom says he just wanted a normal family life. Dom says he holds it against Rey that all of his friends got to have normal parents and normal lives and he was the boy whose dad would rather tour the world wrestling than spend time with him. Rey says that wasn't the case. Rey said he would have given it all up if he had known the damage it was doing to Dom. Rey says he's sorry but Dominik tells him not to apologize. "Being a deadbeat dad was the best gift you could have given to me because it's lead me here to this moment." | 78

FIST-TO-FIST

Dom drops the mic and backs up and Balor and Priest enter the ring. As the three men walk toward Rey, Edge comes running down to the ring behind them. He slides in and Edge and Rey begin battling with Judgment Day. The faces have the upperhand at first but Dominik kicks Edge in the groin and then Judgment Day takes over. They beat Edge and Rey up and are really starting to give them a pretty severe beating when BATISTA'S music hits! The crowd pops huge as the soon-to-be Hall Of Famer rushes down to the ring in his tuxedo. He levels Balor with a clothesline and then kicks Priest in the midsection. Priest and Dominik bail and Judgment Day heads up the ramp as Batista checks on his WrestleMania tag team partners. | 82

MAIN EVENT: WWE UNIVERSAL WOMEN'S CHAMPION RONDA ROUSEY, SHAYNA BASZLER, JESSAMYN DUKE & MARINA SHAFIR |VS| BAYLEY, BECKY LYNCH, CHARLOTTE FLAIR & SASHA BANKS

This match was way shorter than expected but I don't know if that's because something on the show ran way over or if they realized that Ronda's partners aren't very good in the ring and didn't want to expose them too much. There were a couple fun spots in this one but it was mostly story telling for Night Two. Ronda refused to get in the ring with Sasha to start. Sasha worked over Jessamyn but Charlotte Flair tagged herself in to the chagrin of Sasha Banks. Charlotte chopped Jessamyn and worked her over but Charlotte ended up in the heel corner and Shayna viciously attacked her with some open hand strikes while she was in the corner. Shayna got tagged in and she went to work on Charlotte's lower back. Charlotte got the tag out to Becky who was on fire at first but Shayna kicked her in the knee cap and Becky collapsed to the mat. Shayna tagged in Marina who worked over Becky's knee. Becky went to tag Bayley but Bayley refused to tag her. Sasha got mad at Bayley and shoved her. Eventually Bayley, Sasha and Charlotte were all arguing on the outside. Marina tagged Ronda in and Ronda got in the ring and kept attacking Becky's knee and put her in a knee bar. Becky refused to tap and eventually Sasha noticed and slid in the ring and broke it up. Becky crawled to the corner and went to tag Sasha but Shayna pulled Sasha off the apron. Becky barely got to her feet and Ronda kicked her in the leg. She pulled Becky to the middle of the ring and applied the knee bar again and this time Becky had to tap out. A shocking finish to this match but it's clear that the story they're telling is that Becky's knee is messed up as they spent some time after the match showing Becky being helped to the back.

WINNERS by submission: Ronda Rousey, Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke, and Marina Shafir | 60

THE FINAL SHOWDOWN

We get a quick recap of everyone being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and a plug for the ceremony which begins right after this show ends on Peacock. Then Cody Rhodes comes out to a huge pop. He says he can feel it and he asks the fans if they can too. They respond positively. He says that he really feels that within the next 48 hours we will be embarking on a brand new era in WWE. Cody says Roman will reign no more and we will be entering the era of Rhodes. And Zayn (big pop). Or Owens (slight boos). Cody laughs and says that he wants the fans to come with that same energy tomorrow and Sunday. Cody says he needs them because for all he knows Paul Heyman has signed a literal monster to face Cody tomorrow night. And that's not even mentioning Roman Reigns. Cody says he knows it's an uphill climb but it's one he will make. Because he has to. Everything he's ever worked for will be standing mere feet away from him on Sunday night and he's not going to let it slip away. Paul Heyman and Roman Reigns interrupt. They get into the ring and Heyman cuts a fantastic promo on Cody. He tells Cody that he had the privilege of knowing Cody's father and while he sees some of Dusty in Cody -- he doesn't see enough. Heyman says that as far as he's concerned, Dustin is the Rhodes who got most of dad's talent. All Cody got was the lisp. Roman laughs at that line and then takes the mic. He calls Cody a wannabe and says that Cody went off to start his own company so he'd finally have a place where he could be THE GUY and they didn't want him either. Roman says that Cody is an excellent wrestler but he's not at Roman's level. But that's ok because no one is. Roman says he is walking into both nights of WrestleMania as champion and at the end of the night on Sunday he will be walking out with both belts in his possession. Cody and Roman get into a Curb Your Enthusiasm-like staredown until Sami Zayn's music hits. Sami comes out to a huge pop and a "Sami! Sami! Sami!" chant. He gets in the ring and is handed a microphone of his own. Sami says that he wanted to be a part of this party and he has some things to say. Heyman says no one care but Cody says he does. Sami says that he knows he took a rather circuitous route to the main event of Night 1 and he has the fans to thank for that. A "You're Welcome" chant starts up. Sami says he won't let them down and that they'll have to drag him out of the stadium in a stretcher to stop him from winning the Universal Championship tomorrow night. Kevin Owens interrupts and says that Sami still has to go through him. KO says that he keeps getting asked by people why he's being so mean to Sami and Owens says that it's payback for how Sami treated him for months when he was being Roman's bitch. KO says Sunday morning he and Sami can be friends but until then...he kicks Sami and gives him a Stunner. A brawl erupts between Roman, Cody, and Owens. Owens goes to give Roman a stunner but Roman shoves him away and goes for the spear. Owens moves and Roman spears Cody. Roman gets up and turns around right into a kick and a stunner from Owens. Roman falls into the nearest corner. Owens collapses into the corner as well. Sami gets to his feet. He's torn between attacking Roman and attack Owens. He goes for Roman. Sami charges Roman and goes for the Helluva Kick but the Usos are suddenly at ringside and they pull Roman to safety. Sami's leg is draped over the top rope and he holds his knee. Owens hits a suicide dive onto the Usos but Roman grabs him and throws him into the barricade. Sami leaves the ring and goes after Roman but Solo Sikoa intercepts him and hits a Samoan Drop onto the ramp. Cody Rhodes follows and he clotheslines Solo and gets to Roman on the stage. Cody and Roman exchange punches. Cody gets the best of the exchange and sets Roman up for the Cross Rhodes but Paul Heyman low blows Cody and the Usos deliver double superkicks. Cody staggers into Roman and Roman hits a Rock Bottom on Cody on the stage. Heyman hands Roman his belts and he holds them over his head as he puts a foot on Cody's chest -- just like the ending to Raw -- as the show goes off the air. | 87

- Grayson Waller wins the Ladder Match for the NXT Championship at 22:49. The finish comes when Bron Breakker does an Undertaker style leap over the top rope and takes out Waller and Steveson. When Bron stands up, he is so fired up that he walks around the ring. Bronson Reed leaps off the ring apron onto Bron Breakker but Breakker catches him and powerslams him through the announce table. Breakker slides into the ring and sets up the ladder. He climbs up and is about to grab the belt when the lights go out and the video screen lights up with footage shot by a phone or handheld camera of the NXT parking lot. Gable Steveson climbs into a car and then we see a shot of the same car running into Bron Breakker. Breakker is incensed. He immediately climbs down the ladder and goes outside and grabs Steveson. Breakker begins assaulting Steveson and Steveson starts fighting back. They brawl all the way to the back. This allows Grayson Waller to crawl into the ring and climb the ladder to grab the title. | 68
