"March of War" by Nonpoint - Official Theme Song of Survivor Series
SURVIVOR SERIES OPENING (88%)The PPV opens with a video package using the theme “March of War” by Nonpoint. The video highlights the three main matches of the night. Team Batista vs. Team JBL, the RAW Survivor Series Match, and Edge vs. The Undertaker inside Hell In A Cell! After the package ends, pyros go off as 12,500 pack the American Airlines Arena for the PPV. Michael Cole welcomes us in before “Longhorn” hits and it is time for our first match.
MATCH 1: TEAM BATISTA [BATISTA, RIC FLAIR, REY MYSTERIO, AND THE HART DYNASTY W/NATAYLA NEIDHART] VS. TEAM JBL [JBL, MARK HENRY, CHAVO GUERRERO, DEUCE & DOMINO W/CHERRY] (83%, 2.5*)The extravagant white stretch limo pulled out on the stage as JBL exited the vehicle with Deuce, Domino, and Cherry. Once they got in the ring, Chavo Guerrero made his entrance before 'The World's Strongest Man' Mark Henry rounded out the team.
“I Walk Alone” then hit and 'The Animal' Batista made his way out. After setting off his pyros, he stayed halfway up the aisle as Rey Mysterio made his entrance followed by The Hart Dynasty with Natayla in tow. The arena then got quiet for a dozen or so seconds until Ric Flair's classic theme hit and 'The Nature Boy' came out to a massive reaction. Flair hugged Batista and then shook the hands of the rest of his team.
Once all 10 men were on the apron, Rey Mysterio asked to start the match and wanted Chavo in there with him. Of course, Chavo wanted no part, and 'The World's Strongest Man' was sent in to begin. Mysterio tried chopping down the tree with some swift kicks to the back of Henry's legs, but Henry took control and started manhandling Mysterio. Henry then tagged in Deuce and Deuce and Domino alternated tags while keeping Mysterio isolated.
Domino was working on Rey and sent him off the ropes but when Mysterio rebounded, he countered with a headscissors that turned into an unorthodox pinning combination, and the suddenness of the pin caught Domino off guard and happened too quick for one of his partners to break it up. Mysterio would eliminate Domino to a shock to everyone on Team JBL!
***DOMINO ELIMINATED BY REY MYSTERIO VIA PINFALL (4:13)***Domino didn't believe he was just pinned and neither could Deuce. Team Batista was laughing as JBL started pacing on the apron in disgust. Referee Jimmy Korderas had to make Domino go to the back and eventually, he did. Mysterio would get a break and tag in TJ Wilson and Chavo then decided to come in next. Wilson would get an advantage over Chavo in the early going, hitting a flurry of moves, most notably a jumping leg lariat.
Wilson then tagged in his tag team partner and DH Smith came in and immediately scoop slammed Chavo. Chavo then scurried to his corner and tagged JBL in, who wasn't necessarily thrilled about coming in at the moment. JBL and Smith locked up and exchanged some headlocks and arm wrenches. After the brief chain, Smith was sent off the ropes but shoulder blocked JBL and knocked him on his rear.
JBL looked up as DH Smith nodded his head and JBL got back up and looked at Mark Henry. He said something before tagging him in and now Smith looked over at his corner as 'The Animal' wants in. The crowd starts popping and Smith tags in Batista. Batista and Henry squared off and went back and forth for a little bit before both men went off the ropes and had the same idea with jumping crossbodies.
The crowd started making noise as Batista and Henry stirred toward their respective corners. Henry tagged in Deuce while Batista tagged in 'The Nature Boy.' Flair joined the ring to a big ovation and started with some classic chops to Deuce. Flair then hit a back drop to Deuce before setting up for the 'Figure-Four.' JBL was about to enter in the ring to break it up but Batista and DH Smith jumped in the ring and dissuaded them from breaking up the submission. Flair locked it in and Deuce was tapping about 10 seconds later. Team JBL is now down to three.
***DEUCE ELIMINATED BY RIC FLAIR VIA SUBMISSION (9:37)*** JBL is irate at this point and yells at Henry and Chavo but Henry gives a look at JBL and it was at that point he knew he messed up. Henry demonstratively dropped from the apron and basically told JBL to hell with your team. Henry grabs his United States Championship and heads up the aisle. JBL and Chavo are now the only ones left and the two whisper strategy as Jimmy Korderas asks one of them to enter the ring.
Chavo gets in the ring and Ric Flair goes right to the corner to tag Rey Mysterio in. Chavo is not happy but even he knew he would eventually have to face him. The two go right after each other and exchange blows before Rey gets the advantage. Chavo stumbled near the ropes but then charged at Rey but Mysterio leap-frogged him before taking him down with a headscissors.
Mysterio then went off the ropes and hit a front dropkick to the face of a seated Chavo. A pin attempt got a two-count and then Rey picked up Chavo. Chavo went for a punch but Rey ducked and got behind Chavo before drop kicking him in the back. Chavo fell onto the middle rope in perfect position for a '619' but when Rey went off the ropes, JBL lifted his knee and stopped his progress.
This then caused a stir as Batista left his post and walked over near JBL. Jimmy Korderas told Batista to get back and Chavo took control in the ring. Chavo grounded Mysterio with a chinlock before switching into a 'Mexican Surfboard.' Chavo eventually relented but then picked up Rey to hit the 'Three Amigos.' Chavo channeled his late Uncle Eddie with his shoulder shake taunt before going to the top rope.
Chavo jumped off to hit a 'Frog Splash' but Mysterio moved! Both men got up at the same time but Mysterio hit a drop toehold to a charging Chavo, putting him back in '619' position. This time, Mysterio made sure to watch JBL as he went off the ropes before connecting with the '619.' Mysterio then hit a springboard splash to cover Chavo and make it 5-on-1.
***CHAVO GUERRERO ELIMINATED BY REY MYSTERIO VIA PINFALL (14:06)***JBL pretty much looked like he was considering the decisions in his life at this point and took his time getting in the ring. JBL got in and went after Mysterio, but Rey ducked under a clothesline attempt and hit JBL with a springboard crossbody. Mysterio got a near-fall on the crossbody and then he tagged in Batista. JBL stumbled to his feet to get hit with a Spear!!! Batista was not finished yet and started shaking the ropes before putting his thumbs down.
When JBL got to his feet, Batista booted him in the gut and nailed him with a 'Batista Bomb.' Batista would cover JBL to get the win and a clean sweep for Team Batista.
***JBL ELIMINATED BY BATISTA VIA PINFALL (16:28)***WINNERS – TEAM BATISTA (16:28) SURVIVORS: BATISTA, RIC FLAIR, REY MYSTERIO, DH SMITH, AND TJ WILSONTeam Batista gets in the ring and celebrates by raising each other's arms. Quite a statement was made and everyone showed their respect to 'The Nature Boy' as JBL remained out on the outside of the ring. After a couple of replays, JBL is shown holding his head and midsection as he walks up the aisle with a scowl while Team Batista stares at him from the ring.
Y2J BACKSTAGE INTERVIEW (95%)The shot goes backstage where Josh Mathews brings in World Heavyweight Champion, Chris Jericho, for an interview. Mathews asks Y2J about his title defense vs. MVP tonight and Jericho says he is ready for whatever tricks MVP has up his sleeve. Jericho says he came back to the WWE for this (the title) and looks at it before saying he'll be damned if he's going to let that whiny homewrecker take this from him.
MATCH 2: UMAGA (C) W/ARMANDO ALEJANDRO ESTRADA VS. BOBBY LASHLEY – INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP (74%, 2.5*)Back to the ring and good ol' JR and Jerry 'The King' Lawler were on the call as “Hell Will Be Calling Your Name” hits and Bobby Lashley makes his entrance. JR and King bring up the fact that Lashley's ribs are taped up and the broadcast quickly shows Umaga's attack on Monday Night RAW.
Lashley's body language definitely indicates he isn't 100% but his face gets all serious when 'The Samoan Bulldozer,' Umaga's music hits. The Intercontinental Champion makes his way down the aisle but Lashley could not wait and goes out after him.
The two begin trading punches as Armando Alejandro Estrada yelled at Referee Jack Doan complaining that Lashley attacked Umaga before the bell. Lashley gains the upper-hand as Doan tries to get the two big men into to the ring but Lashley flings Umaga into the aisle guardrails.
Lashley picks up Umaga and throws him into the ring and Doan rings the bell to start the match once Lashley also enters. Umaga gets up but stumbles back into the corner and Lashley does not relent and hits a corner clothesline. Lashley then hits shoulder thrusts to Umaga's midsection, giving him a taste of his own medicine.
Lashley then whipped Umaga into the following corner hard and Umaga bounced off the buckles into a Lashley scoop powerslam. Lashley goes for the cover but gets a two-count and then reached for his ribs. It appeared that slam took a little out of him. Lashley gets Umaga to his feet but 'The Samoan Bulldozer' catches Lashley off guard by hitting a quick strike to his throat. This allows Umaga to gain control of the match and he headbutts Lashley, knocking him down to the mat.
Umaga then rebounded off the ropes and hit a jumping headbutt to Lashley's midsection, causing Bobby to clutch at the area. Umaga then placed Lashley in a seated position and applied a nerve hold. Umaga would also start clubbing Lashley's midsection and then transitioned the nerve hold into a chinlock.
After a half-minute of no action, Lashley started to re-energize with help from the crowd. Lashley powered his way to his feet and elbowed Umaga in the midsection. Lashley was almost out but Umaga clamped down again and reapplied the lock. This time though, Lashley countered into a back drop, and now both men were down.
Lashley was to his feet first and he signaled to the crowd that he was going to hit a Spear. Lashley went into the corner and got into his stance when Armando Estrada decided to get on the apron. Jack Doan made Estrada get down right away but that slight distraction caused Lashley to run right into a savate kick by Umaga to the face.
The kick sent Lashley back into the corner and he fell into a seated position. Umaga then went to the opposite corner and screamed as he used the ropes to propel himself to gain momentum as he charged at Lashley. However, Lashley would move just in the nick of time and Umaga's running hip attack was unsuccessful.
Umaga was still holding his backside as Lashley got up, rebounded off the ropes, and hit a Spear on the Intercontinental Champ. Lashley then slowly crawled and placed an arm over Umaga for the pin attempt but Umaga just got the shoulder up at 2.99!
Lashley then waited for Umaga to get up and decided to go for his running powerslam. Unfortunately, when Lashley tried to power Umaga up, his injured midsection prevented him from getting Umaga all the way up. This resulted in Umaga sliding off of Lashley's clutches and when Lashley turned back to Umaga after reaching at his ribs, Umaga nailed Lashley with the 'Samoan Spike.' Umaga would make the cover to retain his Intercontinental Championship.
WINNER – UMAGA BY PINFALL (9:49)Umaga's music hits as Armando Estrada comes in the ring and puts the IC Title around 'The Samoan Bulldozer's' waist. Once fitted, Umaga lets out another primal scream and then Estrada raises his arm. A few replays are shown and then when the action comes back, Lashley is shown coughing on the mat while holding his ribs. Umaga and Estrada head up the ramp before the camera goes to a shot backstage.
ORTON GIVES TEAM A TALK (93%)The action picks up in a locker room as Randy Orton is talking to the members of the team he is on later tonight. Orton says that he knows a thing or two about being the 'sole survivor' and it gets Mr. Kennedy and King Booker annoyed. Both of them think Orton is trying to take control of the team and it appears an argument is about to breakout when William Regal tells everyone to calm down. Regal says that they are all in this for the same thing, a shot at the WWE Championship, and that they need to work as a unit, an unselfish unit, to get the job done. Regal's understudy, Drew McIntyre nods his head as Orton, Kennedy, and Booker look to be swayed by the veteran's words.
MATCH 3: CM PUNK (C) VS. ELIJAH BURKE VS. PAUL BURCHILL VS. JOHNNY NITRO VS. TOMMY DREAMER – 10-MINUTE HARDCORE CHAMPIONSHIP BATTLE ROYAL (75%, 2*)Back to ringside and Tommy Dreamer's theme music hits as the 'Innovator of Violence' makes his way out with a shopping cart full of trash cans, kendo sticks, and a huge stop sign. Joey Styles and Tazz take over commentary as Dreamer pushes his cart to ringside before throwing all the contents into the ring.
Styles and Tazz explain the rules as Johnny Nitro makes his way down, opting to stay on the outside of the ring while Dreamer was inviting him in. Elijah Burke comes out next, followed by Paul Burchill. Everyone stays on the outside as Dreamer picks up a kendo stick.
Finally, the ECW and Hardcore Champ, CM Punk comes out to “This Fire Burns” and makes a beeline to Burchill. Punk goes right after him and knocks him down with a Thesz Press. Referee Scott Armstrong rings the bell and the 10 minutes have begun.
Punk and Burchill exchange the higher ground while Nitro and Burke tussled on the outside. Tommy Dreamer then jumped through the middle of the ropes and hit a suicide dive on both men, holding the kendo stick out in front of him. Dreamer let out a scream and then whacked Burchill over the back of the head with the kendo stick.
Punk let his guard down for a second and Dreamer then hit Punk in the ribs with the kendo stick. Dreamer then looked under the ring for some more toys and pulled out a table to the delight of the crowd who then started to chant ECW! Dreamer got one leg unfolded but Nitro hit him from behind and then whipped him back first off the barricade.
Nitro then went after Punk as the Hardcore Champ stumbled towards the start of the entrance aisle. Nitro hit a suplex on the mat before using his athleticism to use the apron as a launch base and hit Punk with 'Starship Pain.' Nitro only got a near-fall though and was frustrated.
Burchill and Burke were going at it on the other side of the ring and after throwing Burke into the steel steps, Burchill finished setting up the table. Burchill then went over to where Punk and Nitro were and threw Nitro head-first into the steel ring post. Burchill then got Punk to his feet and dragged him by his hair towards the table. Burchill went to slam Punk's head off of it but Punk blocked and bounced Burchill's head off it.
Punk then placed Burchill on the table and hit him with a few punches but out of nowhere Tommy Dreamer hit a running senton off the apron, putting Burchill through the table and kicking Punk in the face in the process. Elijah Burke took advantage of the chaos and covered Punk to become the championship holder, 4 minutes into the match.
***ELIJAH BURKE PINS CM PUNK (4:12)***With the three men down involved with the table, Burke used the time to roll in the ring and get a small reprieve. Nitro met him in the ring and the two started to duke it out in the ring, with Nitro getting the advantage by hitting a springboard roundhouse kick after being whipped by Burke into the ropes. Nitro then grabbed the big stop sign that was in the ring and threw it on a prone Burke.
Nitro grabbed a kendo stick in the ring and swung away at the stop sign a couple of times before Burke rolled out of the ring to avoid more damage. Nitro picked up Burke and hit the 'Moonlight Drive' on the outside. Nitro made the cover and became the new championship holder with just a few minutes left in the match.
***JOHNNY NITRO PINS ELIJAH BURKE (6:01)***Nitro had his strategy all played out after getting control of the match and that was to go over to the timekeeper's table, grab the Hardcore Championship, and hightail it out of Miami. Nitro gingerly walked over to grab the belt and then started to walk down the aisle when CM Punk ran him down halfway. Punk hit Nitro in the back of the head and then bounced him off the aisle barricades like a pinball all the way back down toward the ring.
Punk drove Nitro back-first into the ring apron but then Burke, Dreamer, and Burchill all had recovered and joined the fray. Burchill would shove Burke causing him to hit the back of his head off the ring steps while Dreamer alternated punching Punk and Nitro. Burchill then ripped up the mat and Styles and Tazz started to get concerned, knowing what Burchill was up to as they had seen this before.
With the clock approaching the two-minute warning, Burchill punched his way into the group, grabbed Nitro, and hit a suplex on the exposed concrete. After delivering the suplex, Burchill rolled over to attempt to get up but Punk ran over and hit his own version of a 'Curbstomp'
(think Rollins-type) and Burchill's face was hammered into the concrete below.
Punk then grabbed Nitro and rolled him into the ring with about a minute and a half left in the match. Punk checked the clock as Nitro slowly tried to crawl away. Punk picked Nitro up and got him up in 'GTS' position but Nitro used his legs and kicked the air to get out of it and slide behind Punk. Nitro then hit a step-up enziguri to Punk, and it appeared Nitro would hang on as Punk went through the middle rope and fell to the outside.
Nitro stumbled to his feet and rested in the corner, raising his arm, but all of a sudden, Tommy Dreamer appeared on the apron behind Nitro and had a trash can in hand. Dreamer hit an unsuspecting Nitro over the top of the head with the trash can, knocking him down. There were only 45 seconds left in the contest and Dreamer looked at the clock as the urgency grew.
Dreamer laid the trash can down, picked up Nitro, and hit a 'Dreamer DDT' right onto the trash can. Dreamer rolled over and draped an arm over Nitro to get the 1...2...3! Dreamer becomes the championship holder with just half a minute left in the match.
***TOMMY DREAMER PINS JOHNNY NITRO (9:28)***Dreamer was still lying on the mat when a last-ditch effort from Elijah Burke occurred as he got on the apron and hit a springboard elbow drop to Dreamer. Burke went for the cover but Dreamer kicked out! There were only a few seconds left when the kickout occurred and Punk hurried back in the ring and tried to steal a pin, hooking both of Dreamer's legs but as Referee Armstrong began the count, the clock ran out and Tommy Dreamer became the new Hardcore Champion.
WINNER – TOMMY DREAMER (10:00) ***NEW HARDCORE CHAMPION***Dreamer's music hit as Armstrong handed Dreamer the belt, who was still lying on the mat. Dreamer would eventually get to his feet and he and Punk exchanged looks. Punk got up from sitting in the corner and got in Dreamer's face. Dreamer's music stopped playing in anticipation of post-match fireworks but Punk extended his hand, and the two shook before Punk raised Dreamer's arm and his music started to play again.
Replays of the match are shown as Styles and Tazz recap the action before cutting back live to show Burchill still out on the floor along with the rest of the carnage. Dreamer high-fives just about every fan going back up the aisle and turns around at the top of the stage. Looking very emotional, Dreamer lets out a yell while lifting the championship, and the crowd cheers loudly for the 'Heart of ECW.'
TODD GRISHAM CATCHES UP WITH CENA & CO. (86%)The camera cuts to the back where Todd Grisham is shown walking. He tells everyone that he's found John Cena and team discussing tonight's match and walks over to ask if he can have a word with everyone. Grisham goes to Cena first and asks him about the match tonight. Grisham's question ends up irking Cena as he is asked if it is odd fighting for giving the rest of his teammates a shot at his own title. Everyone's ears perk up in anticipation of what Cena would say and Cena says that the other 4 men are all deserving of a shot and that he would rather give them the chance over those jackasses on the other side. Triple H then chimes in and puts an arm around Todd and tells him that they have some strategy to discuss. HHH smirks at Grisham, basically telling him to scram, and before he says another word, Grisham walks away.
MATCH 4: LONDON & KENDRICK AND CRYME TYME VS. THE WORLD'S GREATEST TAG TEAM AND CARLITO & PRIMO (70%, 2*)Back to the ring and the music of the World Tag Team Champions, The World's Greatest Tag Team, hits and Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas make their way out. This is followed by the brothers, Carlito & Primo before their opponents enter. Cryme Tyme enter, getting the crowd hyped and they wait at the end of the entrance aisle as London & Kendrick sprint out to the ring.
After getting situated in their corners, JTG and Primo begin the match for their respective teams. The two traded some quick moves before JTG was sent off the ropes and dropped Primo with a running somersault shoulder block. JTG then tagged in Shad and the big man picked Primo up and slammed him. Primo was seated in the corner and Shad stomped away at him as the animosity between the two teams was apparent.
Shad then tags in Brian Kendrick and Kendrick goes to the other end of the ring before sprinting but missing a corner splash when Primo moved. Primo then hit a hammerlock DDT on Kendrick before tagging in his brother. Carlito would whip Kendrick into the corner before hitting him with a Monkey Flip. Charlie Haas then asked for a tag and Carlito obliged.
The tag champs then quickly alternated tags, dissecting Kendrick. Haas tried to get Kendrick up for a suplex but Kendrick kneed Haas in the face after he was lifted and Haas had to let go. Kendrick then dropkicked Haas and he flew through the middle rope to the outside.
Kendrick then got the crowd to start chanting as he signaled that he was going to jump to the outside. Kendrick would hit a diving corkscrew somersault plancha on Haas. This got the rest of each team to head over and all of a sudden a brawl broke out. Kendrick was able to throw Haas back in the ring amongst the chaos but as Referee Chad Patton was trying to restore order on the outside, Carlito slipped into the ring and hit Kendrick with a 'Backstabber.'
Haas would then get a hand on top of Kendrick and Carlito informed Patton of the cover. Patton dropped down and counted the 1, 2, 3 to eliminate Brian Kendrick, much to his teammate's surprise.
***BRIAN KENDRICK ELIMINATED BY CHARLIE HAAS VIA PINFALL (6:09)***Right after the pinfall, Patton restored order and got each team back to their respective corners. The heel team was obviously happy about the elimination and was happy to disengage with the brawl as it appeared they used it to their advantage to score the cheap elimination.
London would then enter the ring and Haas tagged in Benjamin. The two went back and forth for a bit before London caught Benjamin's leg. Benjamin tried to hit his signature Dragon Whip kick but London ducked before hitting an enziguri of his own. London got a near-fall on the pin.
London then called for a 450 Splash and when he went to the top and jumped, Haas moved out of the way. London had the wherewithal to adjust in mid-flight and land on his feet to roll through. Haas went at London but London hit an inside cradle and shocked one half of the tag champs by getting the three!
***CHARLIE HAAS ELIMINATED BY PAUL LONDON VIA PINFALL (8:34)***The match was now back to even at three a piece and Haas got up and complained to Patton, who told him to hit the bricks. Primo then came back in and he and London exchanged some fast-paced offense, culminating in London hitting a chickenwing facebuster. London rolled over for a pin attempt but Primo kicked out just in the nick of time.
London tagged JTG back in and JTG was able to hit Primo with 'Da Shout Out,' but when JTG went for the cover, Carlito broke up what was sure to be an elimination and saved his brother. This got Shad fired up and he went after Carlito. Carlito tried to hop through the ropes but Shad hit him as he tried to leave and Carlito spilled to the floor outside. Shad then punched Benjamin off the apron and went out and started to beat down Carlito.
Chad Patton admonished Shad but he wouldn't stop. He drove Carlito back-first into the barricade before lifting him up and dropping him face-first off the top of the barricade. Patton came out to separate Shad but in the heat of the moment, he shoved Patton away, knocking the ref on the ground. Shad realized he messed up right away as Patton looked at him in shock from his rear. Patton would disqualify Shad and now their team was down to two with JTG and Paul London.
***SHAD ELIMINATED VIA DISQUALIFICATION (11:17)***JTG shrugged and wondered what was going on as he discussed with Patton. Shad said it was his bad and apologized to both JTG and London before he walked to the back, disappointed, with his hands on his hips. JTG then turned his focus back to Primo but Primo pulled him by the belt loop on his jeans and sent him face-first into the middle turnbuckle.
Primo then rolled JTG up from behind and when he realized Patton was not in a position to see, he put his foot on the ropes. Paul London did all he could do to bring attention since he didn't have enough time to break up the pin but it was to no avail as JTG was pinned by Primo.
***JTG ELIMINATED BY PRIMO VIA PINFALL (12:48)***For Paul London, this was it. He was now left with a 3-on-1 disadvantage. Primo walked over to his corner where both Benjamin and Carlito had recovered and were back in position. London came into the ring but Primo put a leg through the ropes to discuss some strategy before popping back in.
London and Primo went at it again for a bit but Primo was able to get control and drive him into his corner. Primo went into the other corner and Benjamin and Carlito tried to hold London down but London elbowed Carlito and shoved Benjamin as Primo went to hit a corner splash. London moved and Primo turned right into a Northern Lights Suplex. London bridged Primo with the suplex and got the three count to cut his deficit to 2-on-1.
***PRIMO ELIMINATED BY PAUL LONDON VIA PINFALL (14:36)***As soon as the pinfall finished, Benjamin leaped onto the apron and jumped up to try and hit a springboard clothesline but London hit him with a Superkick! London then went to the top rope and went for a 450 Splash but Carlito tripped him up and London fell hard on his face on the mat below. Benjamin recovered and then waited for London to get up. When London got to his feet, Benjamin hit 'Paydirt' and got the three-count to capture the victory for his team.
***PAUL LONDON ELIMINATED BY SHELTON BENJAMIN VIA PINFALL (15:58)***WINNERS – THE WORLD'S GREATEST TAG TEAM, CARLITO, AND PRIMO (15:58)SURVIVORS: SHELTON BENJAMIN AND CARLITOBenjamin and Carlito get their arms raised before their partners come back out to rub in the victory to London and the crowd. A few replays are shown as JR and King recap the action. The camera comes back to all four men shaking hands as they continue to celebrate the win.
TOMMY DREAMER CONGRATULATED BY MICK FOLEY (84%)A camera heads to the back where new Hardcore Champion, Tommy Dreamer is walking. A few random people yell out congrats to Dreamer as he appears to be leaving the arena. The voice of ECW General Manager, Mick Foley is then heard and Dreamer stops as Foley walks into the picture. Foley shakes Dreamer's hand and says he can't think of a better man to hold this championship. Moments after, Dreamer is attacked from behind!
It's Mike Knox. Foley calls for help as he tries to get Knox to stop but Knox is on top of Dreamer hitting rights and lefts. Backstage staff appear and a bunch of people separate the two. Dreamer then gets up before being held back by many people. Dreamer yells at Knox a couple of times before the camera cuts back to JR and King, who briefly comment on what happened.
MATCH 5: CANDICE MICHELLE (C) VS. MARYSE – WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP (61%, 1*)They turn their attention to the next match and the French-Canadian diva, Maryse makes her way down for a Women's Championship Match. After the champ, Candice Michelle, makes her entrance and Lillian Garcia does the introduction, Referee Jack Doan calls for the bell and this match is underway.
Candice and Maryse felt each other out for the first couple minutes of the match before Candice almost shocked Maryse with a surprise body scissors roll-up pin, which got a near fall. Maryse quickly got up and walked into a forearm that knocked her down. Candice went to the middle rope and hit a flying clothesline before getting another two-count.
Candice got Maryse up and sent her into the corner. Candice walked over and was trying to place Maryse on the top rope but Maryse hit a right and knocked her back. Maryse then flapjacked Candice's face off the top turnbuckle. Maryse then stomped away at Candice and got her into a seated position in the corner. Maryse would then use her foot to choke Candice before having to break at a count of 4.
Maryse would hit a back suplex out of the corner and then apply a Camel Clutch to Candice. The champ struggled for about a minute and looked like she was fading before starting to get a second wind. Candice got to her knees and Maryse decided to flip her over and change to a single-leg Boston Crab.
But when Maryse tried to transition into the move, Candice used the momentum to flip over and send Maryse flying to the canvas. Both ladies got to their feet at the same time and traded punches, Candice would gain the upper-hand in the exchange and knock Maryse down with a couple of running forearms.
When Maryse got up, Candice tried to hit a 'Candy Wrapper' but Maryse got out of it once she was rotated around. Maryse countered with a nasty forearm to the face and then spiked Candice with a snap DDT. Maryse then stalked Candice and waited for her to rise. When she did, Maryse tried to put the match away with a heel kick but Candice caught Maryse's leg and hit a Northern Lights Suplex. Candice kept the leg hook for the bridge but Maryse showed her resilience and kicked out.
Candice started to show some frustration as Maryse was giving her a tough out. Candice picked Maryse up and went for another 'Candy Wrapper' but this time Maryse shoved Candice forward, right into Referee Jack Doan. Candice pulled up and both she and Doan put their arms up to avoid a collision but Maryse schoolgirled Candice from behind for a pin.
Maryse however was pulling the tights, and after counting to 2, Doan noticed the cheating and stopped the count. Maryse started yelling at Doan but was turned around by Candice and was dropped with a Forward Russian Leg Sweep that Candice dubs the 'Sugar Rush.' Candice would make the cover and get the three count to retain the Women's Championship.
WINNER – CANDICE MICHELLE BY PINFALL (8:19)Candice's music hits and she is spent and sitting on the canvas as Jack Doan hands her the title. Candice hugs it and replays of the match are shown. When it cuts back, Candice is standing and lifts her championship high.
Y2J/MVP PROMO PACKAGE (96%)An ad then plays for the next time WWE is on PPV as Armageddon comes to us in 4 weeks from Pittsburgh, PA. After the Armageddon ad, the camera goes to Michael Cole and Ernest 'The Cat' Miller and Cole set the stage for the World Heavyweight Championship Match between Chris Jericho vs. MVP. A video package then plays highlighting the feud.
MATCH 6: CHRIS JERICHO (C) VS. MVP W/KRISTAL MARSHALL – WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP (84%, 3*)Smackdown! ring announcer, Tony Chimel, announces that the following match is scheduled for one fall and is for the World Heavyweight Championship. “I'm Comin'” plays through the arena and MVP's tunnel entrance is back as he bursts through it with smoke at his feet. Kristal then walks out of the tunnel and gets behind her man as MVP does his pose to set off his pyro. The two share a kiss before MVP gets in the ring and starts running the rope before doing his “Ballin'” taunt.
The lights then briefly shut, getting the Miami crowd to go nuts. The countdown begins and “Break The Walls Down” hits as World Heavyweight Champion, Chris Jericho makes his entrance. After getting in the ring, Referee Charles Robinson held the big gold belt high before calling for the bell to start the match.
The first couple of minutes had each guy feel each other out and after Y2J won an exchange, MVP took a timeout and went outside to get “encouragement” from Kristal, which was another kiss. Eventually, MVP worked his way back in and was able to gain control of the match after targeting Jericho's right leg with a dirty-looking chopblock after avoiding taking a suplex and landing behind Jericho.
From there MVP zeroed in on the injured limb, yanking Jericho's leg and dropping elbows on it before applying a leg lock. MVP then got Y2J up and hit a shin breaker, and the challenger was in total control. MVP went off the ropes and did his theatrics before attempting the 'Ballin' Elbow' but Jericho moved out of the way and the tide had turned for the first time in the match.
Both men got up at the same time and MVP charged at Jericho but Y2J hit a double-leg takedown and started to turn to lock in the 'Walls of Jericho.' MVP quickly scurried away and went to the outside again. This time, Jericho did not allow for a break and after MVP tried to hide behind Kristal, putting her in harm's way, MVP got a cheap shot in and regained control of the contest.
MVP would bash Jericho's head off the apron before rolling him back in the ring and leaving his head hanging off the edge of the ring. MVP paced over to the corner and hit a running boot to Y2J's face. MVP hurried back into the ring and moved Jericho away from the ropes before getting a near-fall. MVP was not thrilled about Jericho kicking out but he then started driving knees to the head of a grounded Jericho.
MVP picked Jericho up and forced him into the corner. MVP was about to hit his 'Player's Boot' but Jericho shot out of the corner and clotheslined MVP. When both men got up, Jericho went off the ropes but Kristal tried to trip him. MVP also tried to distract Referee Charles Robinson but it didn't work and he saw the trip attempt. Y2J pointed at Kristal as she failed to trip him and the interference got Robinson to throw Kristal out to the back.
MVP was irate and while arguing with Robinson, Jericho hit his one-handed bulldog. Y2J then sprung off the ropes to hit a 'Lionsault' but MVP kicked out at 2. Jericho would struggle to apply the 'Walls of Jericho' but after some fight, he turned MVP over and had him in agony. MVP, to his credit, clawed his way to the bottom rope after about 45 seconds to break the hold.
Jericho waited for MVP to get to his feet and attempted a 'Codebreaker' but MVP caught Y2J and turned it into hanging him off the top rope. MVP started taunting and waited for Jericho to get up before hitting the 'Playmaker.' MVP was going to do it but Jericho kicked out of the finisher at 2.99! MVP could not believe it and started pounding the mat with his fist in frustration.
MVP thought of what else he could do to finish off Jericho and decided to dig into Y2J's bag of tricks and attempted to apply his own 'Walls of Jericho' on Jericho. MVP grabbed both legs but Jericho fought hard to avoid MVP turning over. MVP then decided to bend down to punch Jericho to accelerate the process but Jericho turned it into a small package and got the 1...2...3!!! to retain his World Title.
WINNER – CHRIS JERICHO BY PINFALL (14:32)MVP could not believe it and tried to hit Jericho as Charles Robinson raised his arm in victory. Jericho would drop down and roll out of the ring, laughing at MVP. Robinson would walk over and hand Jericho his championship and raise his arm on the outside as MVP kicked the ropes in frustration. Replays were then shown of the match and finish before coming back with Y2J holding the World Title up while MVP angrily looked on from the ring.
RAW SURVIVOR SERIES MATCH VIDEO PACKAGE (90%)The action went over to the RAW announce table as JR and King prepped the audience for the next match, the 5-on-5 Survivor Series contest. After a brief intro, a video package was played showing what led us to this elimination match and the big stakes that are on the line.
MATCH 7: JOHN CENA, SHAWN MICHAELS, TRIPLE H, JEFF HARDY, AND CODY RHODES VS. RANDY ORTON, MR. KENNEDY, KING BOOKER, DREW MCINTYRE, AND WILLIAM REGAL W/QUEEN SHARMELL (94%, 4.5*)William Regal's theme hits and Regal and his understudy, Drew McIntyre are the first two members of their team to make their entrance. King Booker w/Queen Sharmell was next, followed by Mr. Kennedy. Then “Burn In My Light” hit and Randy Orton completed his team. After posing, he joined the rest of his team on the outside as Cody Rhodes made his entrance.
After Rhodes, Jeff Hardy came out with a ton of energy before the big three were left. “Sexy Boy” hit and 'The Heartbreak Kid' Shawn Michaels strutted his way out. “The Game” then played and Triple H made his entrance followed by the WWE Champion, John Cena. As “My Time Is Now” faded out it was time for each time to figure out who they were sending in first.
HBK would jump into the ring and after some hesitation, Mr. Kennedy started for his team. The action went back and forth for a little bit before Kennedy took control when HBK was distracted by Orton on the apron. Kennedy would keep HBK isolated and Regal entered the fray.
Regal came in and was super stiff with Michaels, kneeing him a bunch of times and even hitting a half nelson suplex before tagging in McIntyre. The young Scot continued to punish Michaels and then showed his impressive ability by deadlifting HBK and holding him in the air before dropping him with a suplex.
McIntyre picked HBK up again and this time attempted to hit his 'Future Shock' DDT but Michaels reversed out of the double underhook and stunned everyone with a 'Sweet Chin Music' out of nowhere. The young McIntyre got a little too overzealous and it cost him as Michaels put an arm over him to make the first elimination of the match.
***DREW MCINTYRE ELIMINATED BY SHAWN MICHAELS VIA PINFALL (4:55)***HBK would then tag in Jeff Hardy while King Booker jumped in for his team. After a feeling out process, Hardy got the advantage and hit his signature double leg drop to Booker's lower region. Hardy would also hit his sitout jawbreaker but when he attempted 'Whisper In The Wind,' Mr. Kennedy shook the rope and Hardy lost his balance and crashed and burned.
Kennedy then asked to get tagged in and he beat up on Hardy for a bit. Orton then checked in and hit his signature inverted headlock backbreaker. Orton then started pounding the mat, waiting for Hardy to get up to hit an 'RKO' but Hardy blocked it. Hardy went to kick Orton but he caught it amd Hardy was able to flip his body and hit a mule kick on Orton.
Cody Rhodes then got tagged in and the crowd went nuts as he went after Orton. Orton would retreat to the corner and get tagged out by Kennedy. Rhodes and Regal went at it for a bit but after Orton recovered and got back on the apron, he yelled something towards Rhodes and Cody took his eyes off of Regal. Regal then hit the 'Regalplex' and finished Rhodes off with a knee trembler to even the score.
***CODY RHODES ELIMINATED BY WILLIAM REGAL VIA PINFALL (8:46)***John Cena then entered the match for the first time and he and Regal squared off for a bit. Regal missed a right and it led to Cena hitting his spin out powerbomb, followed by the '5 Knuckle Shuffle' as he directed the taunt towards the opposing corner. After hitting it, Cena prepped for an 'F-U' attempt but Orton entered the ring. This led to Triple H coming in and a brawl breaking out.
What came next shocked everyone in attendance. With Cena and Regal being the legal men, everyone was brawling on the outside. Referee Mike Chioda tried to get control but he could not. Despite delaying the count as long as he could, Chioda eventually began to count and it resulted in both Cena and Regal not making it back into the ring. Cena realized it too late and tried to run back in but was not able to beat the count.
***JOHN CENA AND WILLIAM REGAL ELIMINATED VIA COUNTOUT (13:12)***Both sides were now down to 3 members a piece and the crowd, JR, and King could not believe it. Cena also couldn't believe it as he looked at the rest of his squad and apologized. The brawl was cleared up after the double countout and now Triple H and King Booker were in the ring.
The two renewed their rivalry from the summer when Triple H made his return. Some back-and-forth action before Booker tried to hit a back body drop and got nailed by Triple H's knee smash facebreaker. Triple H signaled for the 'Pedigree' and Orton tried to stop it from happening but Cody Rhodes darted into the ring and knocked both Orton and himself over the top rope. Triple H would then hit the 'Pedigree' on Booker and pin him to make it 3-to-2.
***KING BOOKER ELIMINATED BY TRIPLE H VIA PINFALL (16:34)***Kennedy was in next by default as Orton was still recovering on the outside. Kennedy and Triple H went at it before Triple H gained control of the match with a high knee strike. Triple H would then tag in Jeff Hardy, who came in and was on fire, knocking Kennedy down with running forearms and then hitting an inverted sitout slam. Hardy went to the top rope to hit a 'Swanton Bomb' but Orton would be lying in wait and shove an unsuspecting Hardy off the top rope.
Mr. Kennedy took advantage of this and picked Hardy up to hit him with the 'Mic Check.' Kennedy and Orton looked across the ring and Triple H and HBK offered no resistance as Kennedy pinned Hardy to even the match back up at two a piece.
***JEFF HARDY ELIMINATED BY MR. KENNEDY VIA PINFALL (19:02)***Orton and Kennedy vs. Triple H and Shawn Michaels was what we had left and HBK entered the ring with Kennedy. HBK was able to get the best of Kennedy on a couple of occasions and so Orton yelled over at Kennedy to tag him in. When Orton got in, he also got outfoxed by Michaels and HBK hit a flying forearm to knock Orton down.
HBK would then kip up and decide to go to the top rope to hit his signature elbow onto the heart of Orton. Michaels then began to 'tune the band,' signaling 'Sweet Chin Music' but Orton caught HBK's leg, and after spinning him around, Orton hit another 'RKO' out of nowhere. Orton would make the cover and Triple was left all alone.
***SHAWN MICHAELS ELIMINATED BY RANDY ORTON VIA PINFALL (22:57)***Triple H got in the ring and started gaining momentum on Orton, so Orton tagged Kennedy in. The two exchanged moves again until Hunter caught Kennedy with a 'Double A Spinebuster.' Triple H raised his arms and then kicked Kennedy in the gut before hitting a 'Pedigree.' After the three count, we were down to former Evolution members, Triple H and Randy Orton.
***MR. KENNEDY ELIMINATED BY TRIPLE H VIA PINFALL (25:18)***Orton took his time getting in the ring and the two squared off with a lock up. Almost as if the pace was slowed down, the two men looked like they were at the start of the match, feeling each other out with a chain wrestling sequence. Eventually, Triple H got Orton in a standing headlock and Orton sent Triple H off the ropes. Triple knocked Orton down with a shoulder block and then started to go off the ropes again.
This next part was significant as Referee Mike Chioda watched Orton get knocked down, so he missed Mr. Kennedy hitting Triple H in the back with a steel chair as Hunter went off the rope to presumably hit a running knee to a downed Orton. Chioda did wonder what happened but Kennedy did an amazing job of pretending he was still down and recovering.
Orton then saw the result and started to pound the mat. Orton charged to hit the 'RKO' on Triple H but Hunter threw him off. Orton landed on his feet but walked into a boot to the gut. Triple H hooked the arms but before he could hit the 'Pedigree,' Orton reversed by hitting Triple H with a back body drop from the 'Pedigree' position.
Both men slowly got up at the same time but Mr. Kennedy now jumped up on the apron. Mike Chioda went to get him down and Orton would hit a low blow to Triple H when Hunter looked like he was about to hit another 'Pedigree.' This time instead of going for the 'RKO,' Orton waited for Triple H to get on all fours and hit his signature punt kick.
Triple H was out cold and Orton made the cover to get the win for his time, which included a WWE Championship Title Match for each member of the team.
***TRIPLE H ELIMINATED BY RANDY ORTON VIA PINFALL (29:24)***WINNERS – RANDY ORTON, MR. KENNEDY, KING BOOKER, WILLIAM REGAL, AND DREW MCINTYRE (29:24) SURVIVORS: RANDY ORTON“Burn In My Light” hits as Randy Orton has done it. Mr. Kennedy gets in the ring and raises Orton's hand as JR complains about the constant cheating by their team. A few replays are shown and after it cuts back to the ring, all five members are in the ring celebrating. The camera then cuts to Michael Cole and Ernest 'The Cat' Miller as they comment on the match and then turn their attention to our Main Event.
EDGE/TAKER HELL IN A CELL VIDEO PACKAGE + CELL LOWERS (93%)Cole and Cat lead us into a video package highlighting the long history between 'The Rated 'R' Superstar' and 'The Deadman.' After the video ends, the ominous music hits and the arena lights go dim as Satan's structure, the Hell In A Cell, is lowered down.
***MAIN EVENT*** MATCH 8: EDGE VS. THE UNDERTAKER – HELL IN A CELL (100%, 5*)“Metalingus” then hits and Edge makes his way out. He is flanked by Hawkins and Ryder but after setting his pyro off, he tells the two of them to go to the back. Cole comments that he is surprised that Edge is going to go at this alone. Edge sized up the cell before entering but once Edge made it in the structure, the lights went out and the infamous gong hit.
Edge's face looked like there may be some worry as The Undertaker made his entrance. Once Taker walked inside the cell, he demonstratively shut the door, marking that this is his playground. The bell was rung by Referee Nick Patrick and Taker started to square up as Edge moved around the ring.
Taker slowly cornered Edge but his lunging punch was ducked and Edge hit a few rights in the corner before Taker shoved him off before grabbing him with both hands by the throat and throwing him in the corner. When Taker tried to punch Edge, Edge ducked and then started to tee off again, this time getting on the middle rope. Taker would shove him off and then drop Edge with a big boot to take control.
Taker threw Edge into the corner again and hit some strikes before throwing him over the top rope. On the outside, Taker picked up Edge and introduced him to the steel, back-first. Then, after headbutting Edge a few times, Taker bounced his head off the cell before grinding it on the steel like a cheese grater.
Taker then rolled Edge back in the ring with his head hanging over the edge of the apron. Taker hit his signature apron leg drop and then went over to the stairs and knocked the top section off. Take brought in the base of the stairs and placed it upright near the corner. Take then grabbed Edge and attempted to hit 'Snake Eyes' on the stairs but Edge slid out and shoved Taker shoulder-first into the steps.
Edge then went to the outside and lifted the apron to take out a wooden table. With Taker stirring he went back in the ring and hit him in the face with the steel steps. Edge then went back to the outside and got another table and stacked them on top of each other. Taker stumbled over and Edge, who was on the apron, tried to suplex 'The Deadman' through it but Taker countered and placed his hand around Edge's throat. Edge would think quickly and avoid going through the tables by hanging Taker's neck over the top rope.
Edge then grabbed a steel chair from under the ring and nailed Taker in the head as he reached for him through the ropes. Edge would hit Taker in the back with the chair before bringing another table into play, this one in the ring. Edge would then add a ladder to the ring while knocking Taker back down with a steel chair shot.
Edge set the ladder up in the corner, right near the table, and nailed Taker in the head with the chair. After putting him on the table and making sure he stayed on, Edge took the chair and climbed up the ladder to drop an elbow, using the chair, through Taker, through the table.
After Edge recovered he got another steel chair and attempted to hit a 'Con-Chair-To' but when he reared back to swing, Taker sat up and grabbed him by the throat. Edge punched his way off but after going off the ropes, he ran into a big right from Taker and was knocked down.
Edge rolled to the outside and used the ropes to get up but Taker shoulder blocked him and Edge went crashing off the steel cell. Taker went to the outside and grabbed the other half of the steel steps and hit Edge in the face. He then went to throw Edge like a lawn dart into the cell but Edge slid out and pushed Taker face-first into the steel ring post.
After placing the steel steps in front of Taker, Edge used it as a springboard to hit a Spear on Taker that broke the wall of the cell! The cell wall laid against part of the Smackdown! announce table as Edge and Taker traded rights. After Taker gained control and bounced Edge's head off the RAW announce table, he cleared the ECW table and grabbed the TV monitor.
Taker swung and missed and when he went back over to Edge, who ducked it, Edge grabbed the other monitor and bashed Taker in the head with it. Edge hit Taker again with the monitor and placed him on the RAW table. Edge then hatched an idea and got on the Smackdown! table before traversing and hitting Taker with a Spear off the RAW table and through the cleared ECW table.
Both men took time to get up from the last spot but did so at the same time and started trading punches. Taker got the advantage and Edge fell back into the damaged cell wall and stumbled back into the ring. Taker followed him but then took a ladder to the face. Edge went for the first cover of the match but Taker kicked out at 2.
Edge went into the corner and started to signal for Taker to get up. Edge went for another Spear but this time, Taker caught him by the throat and dropped him with a chokeslam. Taker went for the cover but to Edge's credit, he also kicked out at a count of 2. Taker then grabbed Edge and placed him in position to hit a 'Last Ride' but Edge got out of it and low-blowed Taker.
Edge would then hit an 'Impaler DDT' but Taker quickly kicked out. Edge was on his knees looking at Taker when 'The Deadman' sat up, causing Edge to jump up. Edge went off the ropes but Taker got to his feet and hit Edge with a big boot. Taker then grabbed Edge again in 'Last Ride' position and looked to throw him through those stacked tables on the outside but Edge slipped out as Taker lifted him to his highest point and Edge went off the ropes to catch Taker with a Spear when he turned around.
Edge would get another near-fall as Taker somehow kicked out. Edge was in disbelief trying to figure out how to end Taker. Both men slowly got up and Taker used the corner to get to his feet. Edge then went to the middle rope and started hitting multiple punches on Taker. After about a few punches, Edge was caught as Taker awoken out of the corner and hit a 'Last Ride.' Edge would also show his toughness by then kicking out and now it was Taker whose expression was showing doubt.
Taker then grabbed the base of the steel steps and put it in position before grabbing Edge by the hair and climbing up the steps. Taker was going to attempt to hit a 'Tombstone Piledriver' right on the steps but Edge countered again and this time hit a version of the 'Edge-O-Matic' which resulted in Taker landing back-first on the steps.
After a brief delay, Edge went for another pin but Taker kicked out again. Edge wobbled to his feet and started punching Taker, who was on his knees a few times. Edge then pulled a play out of Taker's playbook and wrenched the arm before climbing to the top rope. Edge was looking to hit 'Old School' on Taker but Taker shook his arm off and Edge lost his footing and was straddled on the top rope.
Taker then climbed to the top rope and grabbed Edge by the throat but instead of throwing him back into the ring, he sent Edge crashing through the stacked tables on the outside. Taker rolled a lifeless Edge back into the ring and then placed a chair under his head. Taker would grab a second chair and give Edge a taste of his own medicine with a 'Con-Chair-To.' Taker then finished Edge off with a 'Tombstone Piledriver' and Taker crossed the arms and rolled his eyes back as Nick Patrick counted to 3.
WINNER – THE UNDERTAKER BY PINFALL (26:23)Undertaker's music hit as he got to his feet and then dropped down on one knee to do his signature pose with the lights going down. After walking out of the cell, Taker headed up the ramp as medical personnel rushed down to help out Edge. Taker looked back at the top of the ramp before facing forward and raising one arm in the air as the PPV came to a close.
