Andre The Giant with help from Ted Dibiase & a Crooked Ref won the WWF Championship over Hulk Hogan ending Hogan's 1 year reign as WWF Champion once again, however.
As Mean Gene Okerlund interviewed Andre The Giant, the belt was given to Ted Dibiase and Dibiase officially declared himself the new World Wrestling Federation Champion. Hogan tried protesting it, but as Jack Tunney came out to try to solve the situation, Dibiase put money in Tunney's pocket and Tunney reluctanly obliged to Howard Finkel to announce Dibiase as the new WWF Champion. Hogan was stunned and attacked Dibiase, Virgil & Andre before they retreated.
Dibiase's night however wasn't over as he appeared in the Royal Rumble Match at #11 as he became the first man to enter the Royal Rumble Match as the World Wrestling Federation Champion. He did gain some eliminations by eliminating Ultimate Warrior, Ricky Steamboat, George Steele & Jake Roberts, and made it to the final three, before Randy Savage eliminated him, and The Macho Man would eventually end up winning the Royal Rumble Match and earned himself a title shot at WrestleMania 4 to face Ted Dibiase for the title.
