An angry Shawn Michaels is cleared to return at the end of April and demands another shot at the WWF Championship vs Undertaker, which he gets. Michaels wins the title on Raw after a distraction from Paul Bearer, claiming that Kane is coming back for Taker's soul (Kane was sidelined with a serious knee injury through 8 months at this point). Meanwhile, Billy Gunn reconciles with his brother Bart and they reform the Smoking Gunns, even winning the tag titles back from the Headbangers on Superstars. This doesn't seem to please Road Dogg at all and he might play a role later as the Gunns defend against the Legion of Doom on the PPV. Taka Michinoku drops the Light Heavyweight Championship in Japan to Masayoshi Motegi, who's gonna compete in WWF as Takao Yasui on the Free For All portion of the show.

In Your House: Canadian Stampede Date: July 6, 1997 Location: Saddledome, Calgary, Alberta, Canada
The aftermath of the King of the Ring can be felt as Vince McMahon clearly demonstrates his unhappiness to deal with a rebellious King of the Ring in Stone Cold Steve Austin. Shawn Michaels & Hunter Hearst Helmsley pledge their support to Vince and want to take care of Austin themselves. In the meantime, Kane resurfaces but against all odds, sides with his brother The Undertaker. As Austin decides to goad Vince McMahon into having a match with him, Vince challenges Austin to a 6-men tag, thinking he won't find any partners. But the reunited Brothers of Destruction step up and will team with Austin in Calgary. Meanwhile, it won't be a happy family reunion for the Harts in Calgary. Bret Hart clearly sides with his brother Owen, incurring the wrath of the British Bulldog, leading to a showdown between them at IYH. Owen Hart defeats The Rock on June 23 to win the Intercontinental title on Raw and will defend it against Goldust. Taka Michinoku defeats Takao Yasui on the premiere of Shotgun Saturday Night and regains the Light Heavyweight Championship...just in time with another showdown with his arch rival Brian Christopher.
