National Battle Report: August 2004
Shamrock beating Shinsuke before the 15 defenses is a bold choice. It's something I actually had planned for quite some time--but looking back I think I might've chosen a different direction for Shamrock now. This is probably true for like three matches on the upcoming PPV, but I guess that's what happens when you spend six months away! So it's still way too early to commit to what I'm going to do beyond Starrcade, but there's one storyline that I wanted to try and see through if at all possible. It was going to be slow-burned throughout a good chunk of 2005, but just to make sure I get to play it out, I'm accelerating the timeline so it'll match up with Starrcade. That way I'll have gotten the payoff I wanted even if I do end this little 'universe' and start something new. Plus it's going to make Starrcade even more loaded than it already was, so if we go out, it'll be with a bang!

August 2004, Week 1August 2nd, 2004Worldwide taping: Rellik defeated Trevor Rhodes, Billy Kidman defeated Eric Young and TAKA defeated Cash. Attendance: 16,908Show Notes: -Just in case he turns eventually, Regal talked over heel psychology with Danielson. Rampage Brown also sat in on the lesson.
-Shane Douglas was furious about being beaten by Kojima, who is a star in Japan but an unknown here. I told him to do his job.
-TJ didn’t look too thrilled about having to put over a team including a non-regular, but seemed intimidated into silence by Tanahashi.
-Tanahashi and Nakamura showed excellent chemistry teaming together.
“Cabana looked really good in that promo with some top guys. I think he’ll be one himself some day.” –The Enigma August 7th, 2004Show Notes: -Meiko brought in food for the locker room. Nice to see the champion taking care of the other members of the roster.
“I think you should probably give up on Madison Eagles. She just can’t make the fans connect with her.” –Amy Dumas Grand Prix A Block Current Standings:Wesna Busic: 4 pts (2-0) Akira Hokuto: 3 pts (1-0-1) Nattie Neidhart: 3 pts (1-0-1) Alexis Laree: 2 pts (1-1) Madison Eagles: 0 pts (0-2) Toshiyo Yamada: 0 pts (0-2) Upcoming WCW PPV Event(s): News Updates:Elsewhere in the wrestling world:-Meng has called it a career.

I’m also excited to finally be finished with TEW and onto something new once 2004 is up! Shamrock winning the TV title has my full support. Give me old man Shamrock tapping out people left & right! get off my lawn or I'll break your ankle Shamrock Tap or snap, sonny!

Surprised to see the Dangerous Alliance lose in the first round. Shane is definitely not thrilled about that...

Just procrastinating online and I thought I would just check and see if there had been any changes here, Glad to see you back!
Sounds like your younger roster members and responsible vets are liking Colt! He must be setting his promo's on fire with Heenan.
Cool to see Shamrock in WCW. Certainly someone that never got his due in this time period!
Cool to see Kojima, Nagata and Tanahashi across the pond and joining Nakamura, will Tanahashi become an Ace in this timeline?
Great to see more!

August 2004, Week 2August 9th, 2004Worldwide taping: Great Sasuke defeated Rampage Brown, Volador and Aguila defeated The American Outlaws and Samoa Joe defeated Teddy Hart. Attendance: 19,758Show Notes: -Regal and I really clashed badly on commentary, talking over each other a lot and taking away from the #1 contender’s match.
“Tanahashi is awesome. That guy could be New Japan’s ace someday.” –Chris Jericho
“I hear Kojima’s a really good promo in Japanese.” –Kevin Steen
“Shane Helms can’t connect with the fans.” –The Enigma August 14th, 2004Show Notes: -Momoe Nakanishi kept everyone’s spirits up with some video games before the show.
-Aja Kong was off of her game and also was looking really exhausted by the end of the main event. Luckily Manami is still world class and was able to carry her to an excellent match anyway. Grand Prix B Block Current Standings:Manami Toyota: 4 pts (2-0) Melissa Anderson: 4 pts (2-0) Devil Masami: 2 pts (1-1) Daffney: 2 pts (1-1) Aja Kong: 0 pts (0-2) Etsuko Mita: 0 pts (0-2) Upcoming WCW PPV Event(s): News Updates: Elsewhere in the wrestling world:A sad one, as “Mean” Gene Okerlund passed away at 61 years old. Gene was a class act, and the best ever at his job.
Surprised to see the Dangerous Alliance lose in the first round. Shane is definitely not thrilled about that... Yeah, he was pissed. But since he was pissed even if I tried to protect him + keep him strong, I just eliminated all the notes and let him be miserable! I doubt I'll play long enough for Tanahashi to have a chance to become an ace. He definitely has the makings of one though.

Sad to see Gene pass away so early.
Also sad to see Meng retire at all.
Great to see the Jung Dragons winning even if it's probably just the hometown buzz at the supershow. Sad to see Made in Italy out though.
Goldberg and Unnatural without matches. Booking them seems to easy to I wonder who will answer Goldberg's challenge...?
