Also if you finish at Starrcade maybe you can do a title history up to today? I'm definitely not going to fantasy book 17-18 years of storylines and title histories as a sort of epilogue. Not even I plan THAT far in advance! My goal right now is making it through Starrcade, however long that might take me. I'll see what happens from there. I don't think there's any way I'll touch TEW2016 or TEW in general again after Starrcade. But seeing all the work being done on Pro Wrestling Sim as well as the things I've seen posted about Pro Wrestling Promoter and the conversations I've had with Lucas in the past has me feeling pretty optimistic about the future. I feel like I'm going to have a game in my hands sooner or later that will really motivate and excite me in ways that TEW really hasn't for many years, and some sort of diary being part of that is almost guaranteed. I know there are also tools to convert TEW saves into databases as well as converting those databases so they're usable in other games, so that may be something I look at in the future. Maybe I'll continue on with this universe in a new game, whether that be directly continuing this narrative, or maybe simming ahead for a year or two as a sort of 'reset' and diving back in as Bret running WCW or even taking control of one of the other companies instead. Or maybe that'll seem like way too much damn work and I'll just use someone else's mod to start something completely new in a different time period. If Starrcade does ultimately wind up being the end of this game world in general I will probably share some of the future plans I had, but I don't expect that I'll know for sure what my next step post-Starrcade will be for quite some time.

Am I still here?
Are you kidding? I've come back to stories that were never updated in 2012 that suddenly got an update. As long as there's a website this is posted on and a way to get a thread update for it, I'll always be here.

Always here, brother, and always ready to read through your works. I hope you can do what I can't and go back to TEW long enough to get to where you want to close this out at.

August 2004, Week 4August 30th, 2004Worldwide taping: El Generico defeated Jon Moxley, Volador and Aguila defeated Michael Hutter and Shane Hagadorn, and Samoa Joe defeated Bobby Lashley. Attendance: 21,000 (sell-out!)Show Notes: -This marked Hiroshi Tanahashi’s last appearance with us before he returns to New Japan full-time. He and Yuji Nagata have both been busy between working for us and competing in New Japan’s annual G1 Climax tournament.
“Prince Devitt’s pretty good. I’d like to wrestle him soon.” –Yang
“Get rid of Rellik. No one takes him seriously.” –Goldberg
“I can’t wait for you to build Samoa Joe into a main event heel. Our promos and matches are going to be great.” –CM Punk September 4th , 2004Show Notes: -Amy Dumas left a group gathering without paying for her share of the tab, and Charles Robinson convinced her to buy drinks for everyone after the show as a peace offering. Arn Anderson told me that she seemed to be in a good mood afterwards, so I guess she took the message positively. Grand Prix B Block Current Standings:Manami Toyota: 6 pts (3-0) Melissa Anderson: 6 pts (3-0) Daffney: 4 pts (2-1) Devil Masami: 2 pts (1-2) Aja Kong: 0 pts (0-3) Etsuko Mita: 0 pts (0-3) Upcoming WCW PPV Event(s): News Updates:-Our current women’s champion Meiko Satomura signed a 3-year contract extension with us that will make her the third highest paid woman on Renaissance (barely behind Trish Stratus, with a bit of a gap between Manami Toyota and everyone else.) -Magnum Tokyo left the company. He’s talented, but just really didn’t have any room for him. I think he’ll do better back in Japan. Elsewhere in the wrestling world:-My old buddy the Ultimate Warrior has announced his retirement, as if he’s been relevant in the last twenty years. What an overrated, overpushed hack. -WWE has fallen right back down to National designation according to the sheets just a couple of months after being bumped up to International. I’m sure Vince will pretend that this reflection of the current state of his business is meaningless, but the moves he makes will be a much more honest indication. -NJPW brought Minoru Tanaka in on a per appearance deal, debuting him with an in-ring introduction at the G1 Climax finals. He’ll continue to appear for NWA-TNA and the NWA in general, where he holds the National Heavyweight title -Ahmed Johnson retired, though I’m not sure anyone actually understood what he was saying when he announced it. -Sonny Siaki won the MLW World title from Rocky Romero on September 2nd. -Bull Nakano, former top women’s wrestler and current woman in charge of our developmental territory 5SSW, gave birth to a son. -A retirement ceremony was held for Tracy Smothers on a local independent show. I could see him moving into a non-wrestling role somewhere now. -WWE called Damaja up from their developmental system.
Hey look, it’s new shows! I ran Nitro, Worldwide, Renaissance, the NJPW TV show AND the G1 show over the last few days. Will it take me another 10 months to post the next week of TV? Let’s find out! Summerslam took place the same day as the Japan Supershow, and it was run by a guest booker. Way back in the Ice Age when that show was posted they intended to share the results with you guys themselves, but I have no clue whether they’re even still around here. I’ll share the notable news from that show soon if they don’t post anything here.

September 2004, Week 1September 6th, 2004Worldwide taping: Samoa Joe defeated Lash Leroux, Calgary Bulldogs defeated Rampage Brown and Phil Shatter, and TAKA defeated Daisuke Sekimoto. Attendance: 17,313Show Notes: -Sting passed on some tips on how to work as a babyface to his protégé Johnny Parisi before the show, and after he was done there he helped Rellik work on cutting a pre-taped promo for the website backstage. What a team player.
“Monsta Mack’s selling didn’t do Sting and Luger any favors, and Lord knows they need them. You should probably use enhancement guys who can bump better than that.” –The Unnatural
“Colt Cabana is awesome. He can contribute so much more if you give him a chance.” –CM Punk September 11th, 2004Grand Prix A Block Current Standings:Akira Hokuto: 7 pts (3-0-1) Nattie Neidhart: 7 pts (3-0-1) Alexis Laree: 6 pts (3-1) Wesna Busic: 4 pts (2-2) Madison Eagles: 0 pts (0-4) Toshiyo Yamada: 0 pts (0-4) With one week of block action left, the following women have a chance to win the block: Akira Hokuto: Win over Wesna Busic and Nattie Neidhart loses or draws against Alexis Laree Nattie Neidhart: Win over Alexis Laree and Akira Hokuto loses or draws against Wesna Busic Alexis Laree: Win over Nattie Neidhart and Akira Hokuto loses to Wesna Busic If both Hokuto and Neidhart win or wrestle to a draw (leaving them in an unbreakable tie), a special tiebreaker match will be scheduled. Upcoming WCW PPV Event(s): News Updates:-Cody Rhodes has been called up from developmental and will be debuting imminently. He probably had gotten about as good as he was going to get down there right now anyway, and I also have something set up for him on the main roster so the timing is good. -Ace Steel’s developmental deal ran out without me noticing. Not sure how that happened. It’s almost as if I got distracted by other things for almost a year and then forgot to look at simple things like that. Whoops. Anyway, he’s a free agent now. Elsewhere in the wrestling world:-NOAH held their Departure PPV in front of 25,000 people at the Toda Motorboat Race Place on September 11th. The show was really all about the final two matches, and both delivered. Freelancer Kensuke Sasaki made a big splash by beating Mitsuharu Misawa in a 94-rated semi main event, but an even stronger main event followed. Jun Akiyama delivered the goods with a 96 rated match of the night in retaining the GHC Heavyweight title over Chris Candido. -Yasushi Kanda beat Steve Skyfire (aka EZ Money, aka Jason Jett when he worked for us in the WCW) to win the NWA World title on a Zero-One tour event on September 9th. Kanda is an upper midcard guy in Zero-One and did crack the Power 100 in 2003 (though just barely, in spot #98.) Skyfire is an interesting case as he won the title on an NWA New Jersey show earlier in the year but signed a written deal with Zero-One mid-reign, but having the title has required him to go over guys who are way more over in Japan than he is. Getting the belt off of him makes sense from Zero-One’s perspective; he can settle into more of an opening match position now.

September 2004, Week 2September 13th, 2004Worldwide taping: Shane Helms defeated Brian Cage, The Shooting Stars defeated The Young Bucks and Matt Hardy defeated Adam Pearce. Attendance: 17,500 (sell-out!)Show Notes: -Sting again spent time before the show passing his knowledge on to the next generation, working on babyface fire with Johnny Parisi and going through promo basics with Rellik.
-The girls on the arms of Shane Helms and his manager Buff Bagwell for their segment were local independent women Christy Hemme and Melina Perez.
-Shane Helms was added to the originally planned Goldberg vs. Styles match because I’d overlooked some poor chemistry between Goldberg and AJ previously, so I figured adding a heel to the mix who can work would help overcome that.
“I wish you would’ve thrown someone other than Shane Helms into the match. The fans just don’t care about him.” –Goldberg
“Volador Jr. seems promising. I’d like to hear what he can do on the mic.” –Chris Jericho September 18th, 2004Show Notes: -Meiko Satomura was watching Aja Kong’s match with Melissa backstage, and I guess she made a remark to lead Renaissance road agent Arn Anderson about Aja no longer being able to sell offense convincingly. Grand Prix B Block Current Standings:Manami Toyota: 8 pts (4-0) Melissa Anderson: 8 pts (4-0) Daffney: 4 pts (2-2) Devil Masami: 2 pts (1-3) Etsuko Mita: 2 pts (1-3) Aja Kong: 0 pts (0-4) With one week of block action left, the following women have a chance to win the block: Manami Toyota: Win over Melissa Anderson Melissa Anderson: Win over Manami Toyota If a winner is not decided within the time limit, a tiebreaker match will be scheduled. Upcoming WCW PPV Event(s): News Updates:Elsewhere in the wrestling world:-Destruction was a big show for NJPW on September 17th, but the biggest news was Steve Austin noticeably limping towards the end. Sounds like it’s nothing too severe though, and he’ll just be out of action for a few weeks. I’m sure Simon Inoki let out a big sigh of relief when that result came back. -Yasushi Kanda won the NWA World Junior Heavyweight title from Alex Shelley at the Zero-One show in Tokyo on September 16th.
Hey, look, it's me! Still holding onto my goal of making it through Starrcade and seeing where we go from there. At my current pace, maybe we'll get there at some point in 2025? I did Nitro a long time ago; February, maybe? But this went back into the shelf after that, and it was only a couple of hours ago that I got the urge to book Destruction and Renaissance and get through the week. Ironically, it was coming up with a brainstorm of an interesting starting idea for an early 1980's WWF dynasty that gave me the little kick. Who knows if that will ever materialize into anything, but yeah.
