Event: AJPW New Year Wars - Day 8Date: Saturday, January, Week 3, 1999Attendance: 16,500 in Nippon Budokan (NO VACANCY!!!)TV Rating: 5.95 (4,446,170 viewers) on Nippon TV Show Rating: 100 A*
The show starts off as per usual with the NTV sports march blasting
In a decent match, Vader defeated Stan Hansen in 14:40 by pinfall with a Power Bomb.
Rating: 73 B-
Post Match, Hansen after a few moments stumbles to his feet as Vader stares at him.
Once Hansen stands in front of him, Vader bows to him and stands there as the crowd gasp in surprise at the show of respect from Vader.
Before Vader can fully walk out, Owen Hard suddenly comes out before his match and attacks Vader with a chair before throwing him into around the Budokan as Hansen rolls out for the save.
Owen grabs a mic quickly and yells at Vader "VADER, DON'T FORGOT THE LAST DAY OF TAG LEAGUE, I'M STILL COMING AFTER YOUR ASS AFTER THAT NIGHT!!!"
After everything calms down, Stan stands there in the middle of the ring, alone.
He walks out calmly, allowing the fans to pat him and shower him in admiration. In a bout that had great wrestling and good heat, Gary Albright and Mitsuharu Misawa defeated Owen Hart and Nobuhiko Takada in 15:56 when Gary Albright defeated Owen Hart by pinfall.
This match as a nasty brawl as Misawa and Takeda trades blows throughout while Albright and Owen got in and Albright just tossed him around.
What's becoming clear is that Misawa and Takada despise each other, and their feud isn't ending anytime soon.
Rating: 91 A
In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Yoshihiro Takayama defeated Masanobu Fuchi in 14:36 by pinfall with an Everest German Suplex Hold. A member of the Triangle of Power vs a member of the Holy Demon Army, a very respectful match as you would expect between these 2.
Rating: 87 B+
In a decent match, Hayabusa defeated Yoshihiro Tajiri and Tsuyoshi Kikuchi in 15:32 when Hayabusa retrieved the item. Hayabusa makes defence number 3 of his AJPW Junior Heavyweight title.
Hayabusa carried the match in terms of in-ring performance.
Rating: 87 B+
In a bout that had superb wrestling and good heat, Kenta Kobashi defeated Osamu Nishimura in 19:43 by pinfall with an Orange Crush.
Rating: 98 A*
After a brilliant match between these 2, Kobashi helps Nishimura to his feet and grabs a mic.
"Ya know Nishimura, for a couple weeks now I've been talking to Kikuchi and the rest of Burning, and we all agreed on something.
Most of them are juniors, they want the Junior gold and I obviously want the Triple Crown back and the World Tag Team Title as well.
Nishimura, I know we just met in this ring, but I know that you are a damn good wrestler, and I want you to become the newest member of Burning. What do you say?"
Nishimura thinks about it for a moment as Kobashi reaches his hands out for the shake.
Nishimura shakes his hand before asking for the mic.
"Kobashi, I would be more then willing to join Burning with you, let's hope for an excellent partnership between us."
In a bout that had superb wrestling and good heat, Holy Demon Army defeated Steve Williams and Takeshi Morishima in 22:53 when Toshiaki Kawada defeated Steve Williams by pinfall with a Backdrop Driver. Holy Demon Army make defence number 3 of their AJPW Unifed Tag Team titles.
So close yet so far for the Triangle of Power. After the match Kawada and Taue shake hands with Williams and Morishima as Morishima is given chants by the crowd for his gutsy performance. These tag titles are getting ever so slightly closer to their reach, and hopefully they can get them soon.
Rating: 97 A*
Before the main event, a video plays on the tron to show the build up to this match. Mainly showing how Suzuki has been dominate and doing an emphasis on the No DQ stipulation.
In a bout that had superb wrestling and good heat, Jun Akiyama defeated Minoru Suzuki in 27:09 by pinfall with an Exploder 98' onto a Pile of Weapons!!!. Jun Akiyama makes defence number 3 of his AJPW Triple Crown title.
Rating: 96 A*
Sternness rush into the ring and quickly kick Suzuki out as usual as Jun is helped to his feet, with Tacks in his back, blood running down his face, and the crowd looks at him in awe...
He's the most hated man on the roster, but ignoring his talent now would be laughable.
Jun can't stand enough to deliver a promo, but his face says it all, he's still the top guy and he'll continue to do such.
3 Defenses for Akiyama, 3 extremely different in nature.
The finals shot of the show is Sternness holding up their leader as he holds his Triple Crown with blood running down his face.

Time to announce a very special show.
Giant Baba steps into the room, with possibly a tear in his eye as he sits down.
"Hello Everyone. This press conference is to announce something everyone knew would be coming. It is to announce the last time we will see Stan Hansen wrestling. This special show will be held on the first Saturday of February which means the tour after this will end one week later then expected. You can expect many visitors from other promotions, as well as rivals and friends from Stan's past, but in the end of it all, he will face Mitsuharu Misawa to end off his wonderful career. The rest of the card is yet to be confirmed, but out of respect for Hansen no titles will be defended so he can have center stage in his final main event. Of course, this event will take place in the Nippon Budokan. Thank you all for coming and we hope to see you at Stan Hansen's final show."

Rating: 97 A*
Post Match, Taue quickly grabs a mic.
"Akiyama, this is Hansen's night and his match is next so I'm not gonna ramble on, you, me, Triple Crown, next tour finale. Seeing as how I just beat you, what do you say.
Akiyama stumbles back to his feet after the lose and looks at Taue before taking the mic.
"I accept."
Quickly walking out In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, Mitsuharu Misawa defeated Stan Hansen in 20:16 by pinfall after Misawa hit a combo of forearms then a rolling elbow to finish off the career of Stan Hansen.
Rating: 84 B+
As the final match ends, once Misawa rolls out, Hansen is able to finally stand in the ring as some of the young boys begin to setup a table with some members of the AJPW roster coming out.Soon enough, some special guests will show up to congratulate Stan on such an amazing career.First to come out.Who else but Giant Baba, too be honest, it's kinda hard not to cry for the big guy as he hands his flowers to Hansen and gives him a big hug.Without Stan Hansen, AJPW might not be where it is today and Baba is forever thankful to Stan for that.Stan nods at Baba as Baba steps to the side.Next to come out.Burning comes out under their leaders theme of Kobashi as Kobashi steps in and smiles at Hansen, giving him a big handshake and thanking him for their great matches together. The rest of Burning does the same as they all hand Stan their flowers and Kobashi even has a gift for Stan, it's a new rope!Stan laughs and pulls in Kobashi for a hug as a sign of thanks as Kobashi steps out trying to hold back his tears as well.Next to come out. It's the 4 members of the Holy Demon Army!Fuchi steps in first and hands Hansen his flowers. Hansen nods and they shake hands as he steps to the sideSame with Inoue, he is pretty new to AJPW, but will obviously respect Hansen here. Finally it's Kawada and Taue, 2 men who know Hansen well and have fought him for everything in AJPW.They both give him a shared bouquet of flowers and step off to the side as Hansen's table is getting quite full.Next up.IT'S DORY FUNK JR AND TERRY FUNK!!!The 2 men walk down to the ring and hug Hansen, it makes sense, seeing as how they trained him. They of course give him a big bouquet of flowers as well and step aside.Next out comes...Vader might have betrayed Hansen's months ago, but here he'll show respect and shake Stan's hand and go off to the side.
Finally, and probably the most shocking to most people... Sternness comes out, showing humanity for the first time since they came together as Jun walks in and hands Stan a new cowboy hat and flowers.
Giving Stan a handshake and thanking him for everything as Hansen nods and returns the shake
Jun and Sternness roll out and find their own place away from everyone for obvious reasons, but they still wanna be out here for Hansen. We could be here all day discussing everyone who came out and gave Hansen flowers. But his ceremony is special and of course would take a long time.By the end of it all. The Young Boys have to setup another table for everything. As Stan stands there, he finally grabs the mic with the ring surrounded by faces new and old, including guys signed to other promotions, promotion owners, and everything else. All of Sternness is there too, which is quite a shock to everyone.
Stan begins to speak.
"God I just don't know what to say. I first off want to think everybody here at ringside for coming out here to fill this ring with flowers and gifts, it means the world to me here tonight...I want to thank Baba for letting me have this show the way I wanted and I want to thank Misawa for giving me the best final match I could have.
In 1973 I began wrestling, and in 1981 I came here to AJPW and have stayed for basically my entire career here. I helped form one of the most prestigious titles in all of wrestling and won it a few times. I have some classic matches with the likes of Kobashi, Kawada, Misawa, Terry, Steve, and so many others that I can't name them all, but it felts right to end it here.
I know Brody is looking down on me still and don't forget about em' for a day.
I know this is how he'd want me to go out. But for one more time ladies and gentleman of AJPW.
Say it with me now...
YOUTHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"
As Hansen chants it out one final time, the crowd all joins him as they pop off whatever streamers they have left and fill the ring in a sea of them as he stands there.
Once Hansen finishes his speech, this begins to play as he slowly walks out of the Budokan, for his last time as a wrestler...
And with that ends the career of Stan Hansen...
