Event: AJPW Dream Series - Day 2 (Ryōgoku Kokugikan) Date: Tuesday, April, Week 4, 1999 Attendance: 11,500 in Ryōgoku Kokugikan (NO VACANCY!!!) TV Rating: 8.10 (6,077,420 viewers) on Nippon TV Show Rating: 91 A
The show starts off as per usual with the NTV sports march blasting
Once the opener gets setup, the crowd begins to chant and cheer before the lights turn off for the opening Battle Royal.
Suddenly, Ryōgoku hears a familar theme of one of the greatest Junior Heavyweights of all time.IT'S JUSHIN LIGER!!! The crowd erupts into a sea of Liger chants as he makes his way down to the ring, Liger is in AJPW!!!After Liger enters the ring, Jado, Jinsei, Fuchi, Kikuchi, and Tajiri come to the ring, leaving just 4 more entrants.Soon enough, another new theme blasts throughout Ryogoku!!!IT'S CIMA!!! The highly touted prospect from Ultimo Dragon's gym has made his way to AJPW as well!!! after Tajiri, Ogawa, and Kanemaru enter, there is one more entrant. One more debut in this Junior Battle Royal IT'S MINORU TANAKA!!! In 1 night AJPW has added 3 incredible Junior Heavyweights to their roster, making the division that much better as we get set to decide a number 1 contender!!! In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Tsuyoshi Kikuchi and Jushin Liger won a battle royal in 20:13. The other members of the 'final four' were Yoshinari Ogawa and CIMA, with CIMA being the final elimination. Jushin Liger got the most eliminations over the course of the match. Rating: 81 B In a bout that had superb wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Takao Omori defeated Hiroshi Hase in 14:24 by pinfall with an Axe Bomber. Omori looked out to the crowd before simply saying "Budokan." as if he wanted to say he'll give an annoucement there. Rating: 76 B-
In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Akira Maeda and Kazushi Sakuraba defeated Johnny Ace and Tamon Honda in 7:18 by stoppage when Tamon Honda could not continue. Sakuraba gets some momentum before his title match with Suzuki tomorrow, him and Maeda kept looking out into the crowd and looking around in general as they quickly took out 2 lesser members of Sternness for whatever reason... Rating: 77 B
In a bout that had superb wrestling and great heat, Osamu Nishimura, Gary Albright and Misawa & Kobashi drew with Jun Akiyama, Owen Hart, Minoru Suzuki and Vader in 30:00 when the time limit expired.
Jun and Kobashi never touched again, with Jun tagging out everytime he and Kobashi got inches near each other. Jun's timidness is showing through in this build up as he unwilling to face the man who he has to face in just a few days time.
Owen and Misawa got heavily involved and they are clearly having some bad blood boil over and they need to get this settled quick, same with Gary and Vader. Suzuki and Osamu had a bit of a run in, but Suzuki seems to have bigger plans as of now...
Rating: 92 A

Event: AJPW Dream Series - Day 3 (Nippon Budokan) Date: Wedsenday, April, Week 4, 1999 Attendance: 16,500 in Nippon Budokan (NO VACANCY!!!) TV Rating: 8.48 (6,364,140 viewers) on Nippon TV Show Rating: 91 A
The show starts off as per usual with the NTV sports march blasting In a decent match, Yoshinobu Kanemaru and Kentaro Shiga defeated Takao Omori and Nobuhiko Takada in 7:28 when Yoshinobu Kanemaru defeated Takao Omori by pinfall with a quick roll up.
Once again, this Sternness team flatters, and this time against 2 Junior's from their biggest rival faction. Takada seemed very annoyed as he wasn't the one who ate the roll up...
Rating: 76 B-
Post match
Takada is pacing around the ring as Kanemaru and Shiga leave...
Omori walks up and sighs before stumbling over to Takada. Suddenly...
WHAT THE HELL, TAKADA JUST KNOCKED OUT OMORI?!?!
Suddenly before any other members of Sternness, the lights go out?
When the lights come back up, all these men are standing in the ring.
The 6 men, including the debuting Masato Tanaka and Tomohiro Ishii stand in the ring!!!
Before long, they all beat down the remaining members of Sternness at ring side along with the ring boys, but they leave the staff alone.
Before long, Suzuki takes a mic.
"Hehe, this was my suprise everyone, this is what I've had planned to take over this promotion, getting Takada was the last piece I needed and we set that up tonight because this piece of garbage decided to get rolled up.
So now I introduce to you, SUZUKI-GUN!!!"
"Tonight is just the beginning, if you though Jun's pissant faction was anything, then you ain't seen a damn thing yet. Now I got the main event to attend too now, but ya'll know how that's gonna go. See ya then. In the meantime, you can watch Akira here beat the hell out of Osamu Nishimura."
And with that, Suzuki and Sakuraba exit and leave the rest of Suzuki-Gun to watch this next match, leaving a trail of broken bodies in their wake...
In a bout that had superb wrestling and good heat, Akira Maeda defeated Osamu Nishimura in 16:03 by submission.
Member of Suzuki-Gun didn't touch Nishimura but did leave a presence by being loud at ringside and getting the crowd to get behind Maeda in whatever way they could.
The memo of Suzuki-Gun is not to be hated, but too feared, and making one of the top stars in AJPW doing that might just start help that trend...
Rating: 81 B
In a decent match, Vader, Jushin Liger and Maunakea Mossman defeated Super Generation Army (Gary Albright, Yoshihiro Tajiri and Hayabusa) in 14:55 when Jushin Liger defeated Yoshihiro Tajiri by pinfall with a Liger Bomb.
The junior title division is heating up as well as the Vader and Albright feud, as they had an absolute brawl in this one. Mossman and Liger, even though they are fighting very soon, worked well together on this show.
Of course, the person not involved in a big Dome Show match didn't take the fall, as Liger was able to gain some momentum heading into the match!
Rating: 84 B+
In a bout that had superb wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Holy Demon Army (Toshiaki Kawada, Akira Taue and Masanobu Fuchi) defeated Triangle of Power (Steve Williams, Yoshihiro Takayama and Takeshi Morishima) in 19:26 when Toshiaki Kawada defeated Steve Williams by pinfall with a High-Angle Power Bomb. The Demon Army is finally able to get a pin over the Triangle of Power after months of being unable too. Kawada looked at Williams and pointed at the other 2...?
Rating: 88 B+
Post match
Kawada takes a mic as he paces around the ring after his win, holding his belts on his shoulders.
"Steve, at the Dome, I wanted Morishima and Takayama to be the ones to face us, considering I pinned you here tonight and all, it only seems fair to bring them in."
Steve nods before sighing and taking a mic of his own.
"I'd be lying if I didn't agree Kawada, in that case, Morishima and Takayama will see you at the Dome to take those belts, and I'll be in the corner instead!"
Kawada giggles before everybody walks out, getting ready for the next bout.
In a bout that had superb wrestling and good heat, Jun Akiyama and Owen Hart defeated Mitsuharu Misawa and Yoshinari Ogawa in 20:03 when Jun Akiyama defeated Yoshinari Ogawa by pinfall with an Exploder.
Owen and Misawa had a massive fight throughout the match, blooding each other, which helped Jun be able to single out Ogawa and beat him down and eventually beat him.
Rating: 92 A Post match
Owen and Misawa kept brawling after the match!!!
Eventually security came out and pulled them apart before Misawa grabbed a mic.
"YA KNOW WHAT OWEN?!?! WHY DON'T WE MAKE THIS A DAMN STEEL CAGE AT THE DOME, SO I CAN FINISH YOU ONCE AND FOR ALL?!?!?"
Owen yells out "I ACCEPT!" as they are finally brought to the opposite sides of the Budokan, as we get ready for the main event.
In a bout that had superb wrestling and good heat, Minoru Suzuki and Kazushi Sakuraba defeated Kenta Kobashi and Tsuyoshi Kikuchi in 22:38 when Minoru Suzuki defeated Tsuyoshi Kikuchi by pinfall with a Gotch-Style Piledriver.
Minoru Suzuki and Kazushi Sakuraba win the AJPW All-Asia Tag Team titles.
During the match, Suzuki and Sakuraba singled out Kikuchi and Kobashi barely got a few tags, it was very high action and very intense, but after an incredible run, Kobashi and Kikuchi lost due to Suzuki and Sakuraba having a better strategy.
Rating: 92 A
Post match
Suzuki-Gun takes their leave, as Burning tends to Kobashi and Kikuchi.
Before they can walk out, Akiyama and Owen run back out and suddenly blast Kobashi and Kikuchi with Steel Chairs across the back!!!
All of Sternness came out quickly after seeing a vulnerable Kobashi just days before the biggest match of his life. As security and roster members come out, Sternness attacks then with chairs, kendo sticks, and other objects...
Before long, Sternness has the ringside area looking like a mess, as they are attacking AJPW staff and legends, including Stan who was there to witness the bout. before long, Jun walks over to Mrs. Baba...
He gets a hand on her before Kobashi is able to fight away and push him away, putting his own body on the line for the poor lady...
Finally some order is able to come out after he was informed what was going on after getting glued and tapped up.
The Chairmen finally walks out onto the stage, looking at the chaos caused by Sternness and their attempted assualt on Baba's widow, Misawa has finally snapped.
"So, on the final night before our biggest show yet, you want to make a show after Kobashi was hurt, you want to come out and do this same old shit, and you almost attacked an old lady who's just here to watch her husbands company. I can't allow this to happen in the Dome, I can't allow you to try to cheat to retain that title, so Jun, I'm stealing an idea from the boys in the west, you and Kobashi are gonna face...IN HELL IN A CELL!!!"
Jun tries to counter act it by grabbing a mic.
"NOW WAIT JUST A DAM-"
"I'm not required to listen to you, this is my damn company and this is Misawaism, you'll do as I say, or I'll just fire your ass and have Kobashi face somebody else at the Dome. Now leave before I get the police to force you out, bitch boy."
Kobashi has a massive smile on his face after heating the stipulation, he looks over at Jun with an outright devious look. Jun has finally went too far, and now it's gonna cost him...
The final shot before the Tokyo Dome is a stunned Jun looking on at Kobashi, with the stakes being as high as ever, it's all came to this. Kobashi vs Akiyama, for the Triple Crown, in the Dome, in Hell in the Cell!!!
(Edit: Fixed the Masato error, it wasn't meant to be him all along but I just missed it when looking back over my card for this event)

I'm picturing Misawa shouting "HELL IN A CELL!" in a Vince voice, and it makes me smile. I like the formation of Suzuki-gun, who appear like they're going to be a group of legit badasses who win through intimidation rather than cheating like Sternness. The group of guys in the group all fit that mold too. (That picture is of Masato Tanaka, by the way, not Minoru.)

Bro I promised myself I would get that part right when I set that all up 😭, but yes it is meant to be Masato I guess because there's like 2 Minoru's on my roster now, due to Tanaka also being signed recently to further help the junior division I just looked at it wrong when I looked back over the formatting lol. I'll fix it real quick tho
