May 1999 - AJPW Updates
(I will be away for the next few days so this is to hold ya'll over until then!)
Kobashi is GAMING!
After his incredible title win, Kobashi has taken this short break to game at local arcades with Kikuchi and Nishimura!
As you can tell, our champion is incredibly cool and awesome!
During this time as well, Kobashi has been asked to be on multiple TV shows and even some western news networks after his incredible match with Jun at the Anniversary Show, with Meltzer giving it 6 Stars!
Kobashi is on an incredible run right now to say the least!
Misawa rebrands Super Generation Army and Discusses Injury...
Recently we sat down with AJPW Chairman Mitsuharu Misawa who had a lot of things to get off his chest.
Misawa first announced to us that with the addition of Naomichi Marufuji and Kurt Angle to the his Super Generation Army, he felt it was finally time to rebrand after using the same name for 8 years, and has said the faction will now be called "Untouchbles", keeping all it's current members but changing it's look.
Misawa also has opened up that he is currently suffering from a mild concussion after the piledriver by Owen Hart, whilst his doctor did reccommend taking time off Misawa said this.
"Last time I took time off, I had to face Kobashi in the Tokyo Dome and lost. I can't afford to do that again, I still have a chance to get the Triple Crown, I know I'll get to go face to face with Kobashi at least once during this tour."
The other members of the newly mented Untouchables are said to be concerned about Misawa's condition and want him to take some time off, but he refuses to, seemingly worried about a what-if...
The Triangle of Power at the Bar!
After finally winning the World Tag Team Championships, the Triangle of Power decided to hang out at the bar and are having a great time, these 3 have grown incredibly close and this win has them in high spirits.
Morishima, who is only 20, said "It's just felt like a dream, when Steve restarted the Triangle we never knew we'd get this far, I never knew I'd be a champion at only 20 years old. It's still all surreal to me, but I'm loving this so damn much!"
Takyama had this to say! "We all just bring each other to an insane level that I can't understand, we all still have plans, and it damn well includes that Triple Crown."
Steve added, "This group is perhaps the most important thing I've done in my career, I brought 3 incredible wrestlers together and look at us now, champions, that's all I ever wanted!"
Suzuki's new group!
We also caught up with Minoru Suzuki who just started the new Suzuki-Gun stable. Suzuki had this to say about forming the group.
"Well, it was pretty obvious, me, Sakuraba, and Maeda were together just unofficially, but we wanted numbers, we wanted people to bring up to our level to reshape AJPW into our image, thus bringing in Ishii and Tanaka. We've already beat Kobashi, Omori, Nishimura, Kikuchi, and we're just getting started. People thought Sternness was scary? That's rich, they'll be scared when we leave their heros bleeding in the middle of the ring."
Jun in Isolation?
After spamming his phone for hours on hours, we finally got ahold of Jun who simply said.
"Leave me alone please, I still can't proccess all that happened."
Understandable, he did try to kill his once best friend in a Hell in a Cell then teamed up with him just days later and shook his hand after the match.
Other members of Sternness are also confused at Jun's behavior and said they can't get ahold of the leader of the faction either.
Vader.
We called Vader, he yelled at us and told us to give him a title match.
We are scared, send help.
Taue and Kawada discuss their loss at the 26th Anniversary Show
After losing at the 26th Anniversary Show, Kawada and Taue have said they need to regroup and get things together. Kawada and Taue will still be teaming, but they have said to put the tag titles aside at this moment and focus on the Triple Crown until December.
The Army is still close, but after such a tough loss, rebuilding will be tough and they have to capture some sort of gold again.
AJPW Poll!
AJPW recently had a fan poll that rated Kobashi as AJPW's favorite wrestler
and Johnny Ace as the least favorite!
Johnny Ace is reportedly very upset, however
So that's it for now in terms of updates!
I'll be away for the next few days with some important family business but I had time to post this little funny update for ya'll!
I should be back in a few days to post the Super Power Series Day 1 Card, until then, KOBASHI IS GAMING!
