In an exceptional match, Jun Akiyama defeated Kenta Kobashi in 35:33 by pinfall with an Exploder. During the match, we saw Owen Hart distract the referee which allowed Akiyama to dick kick Kobashi before hitting an exploder!
Jun Akiyama wins the AJPW Triple Crown title.

Time to announce the next tour!Giant Baba steps into the press conference room and takes a seat as pictures are taken of him as he picks up the mic.
"Hello everyone! I am here to simply announce the next tour, it will be the Summer Impact Series, it will be 13 days long and will end as per usual, on the 3rd week of the month on that Saturday, which will be the 18th! Matches will be announced at a later date as some champions don't have any challengers yet, the one thing I do know is the final day of the tour will be main evented by Jun Akiyama and Mitsuharu Misawa! Thank you all for showing up!"

Press Conference to confirm all the matches for the AJPW Summer Impact Series Opener!
Giant Baba would step into the room, smiling at the reporters and speaking clearly into the mic to announce the card.
"Hello everybody! I have came here today to announce all the matches for the first day of our Summer Impact Series that will be held in Korakuen Hall!"
Baba would pull out a small sheet of paper and begin to read off the match card.
"The Main Event will be Mitsuharu Misawa and Hayabusa vs. Jun Akiyama and Nobuhiko Takada, before that it will be, Kenta Kobashi, Tsuyoshi Kikuchi, and Yoshinabu Kanemaru vs Tamon Honda, Gedo, and Jado, then, it's Steve Williams, Takeshi Morishima, and Yoshihiro Takayama vs. Akira Taue, Toshiaki Kawada, and Masao Inoue, before that match, we will see Johnny Smith and Yoshinari Ogawa vs. Johnny Ace and Stan Hansen, then in the opener it will be Owen Hart vs. Masanobu Fuchi.

Show Rating: 87 B+ The show starts off as per usual with the NTV sports march blasting
In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Owen Hart defeated Masanobu Fuchi in 16:01 by submission with a Sharpshooter. Owen was able to defeat Fuchi without any interference from Sternness and simply outwrestled Fuchi. Not a shocker though since Fuchi is a Junior Heavyweight.Rating: 86 B+
In a decent match, Johnny Smith and Yoshinari Ogawa defeated Johnny Ace and Stan Hansen in 11:25 when Yoshinari Ogawa defeated Johnny Ace by pinfall with a Backdrop Hold.During the match, Hansen continued to look off his game as he has for the past couple months, once again unable to save his partner and eating another lose, he simply left the ring again looking lost.Rating: 64 C
In a bout that had superb wrestling and great heat, Masao Inoue and Holy Demon Army defeated Triangle of Power (Steve Williams, Takeshi Morishima and Yoshihiro Takayama) in 15:49 when Toshiaki Kawada defeated Steve Williams by pinfall with a High-Angle Power Bomb.
Rating: 77 B
After the match, Morishima looked at Taue then grabbed a mic in defeat, he challenged Taue to a singles match to give himself his first big challenge as a singles star!!! Taue accepts!!!
In a decent match, Burning (Kenta Kobashi, Tsuyoshi Kikuchi and Yoshinobu Kanemaru) defeated Sternness (Tamon Honda, Gedo and Jado) in 19:29 when Kenta Kobashi defeated Gedo by pinfall with an Orange Crush. Kenta Kobashi carried the match in terms of in-ring performance.
Rating: 78 B Post Match, Kobashi loses it and rains down forearms on Gedo until Kikuchi is able to snap him back into reality, Kobashi stumbles out of the arena and broken and busted man, even after a massive win for him and his faction. Kobashi is seen simply hugging Kikuchi as he finally makes it to the back
In a bout that had fantastic heat and great wrestling, Mitsuharu Misawa and Hayabusa defeated Jun Akiyama and Nobuhiko Takada in 20:41 when Mitsuharu Misawa defeated Nobuhiko Takada by pinfall with a Tiger Driver. In terms of in-ring work, Mitsuharu Misawa was head and shoulders above everyone else.
