Disclaimer:
This is an alternate history diary that I hope will become a dynasty in the future. Some events will play out like real life and some will not. I will try to weave the story in a cohesive way so that you hopefully will understand and enjoy. The basis of this diary without giving out too much is Eddie Guerrero not passing away in 2005. I have not seen a diary like this before and I hope it will not offend anyone. Eddie Guerrero was one of my favorite wrestlers growing up and I hope to write a story that is respectful first and foremost as well as entertaining. Chris Benoit is still gone in this timeline and that is for the reason his story is one that sparks a lot of controversy and heated debates and I would like this diary to be free of that. This is my first diary I have ever attempted and posted and it is heavily inspired by “WCW: Heart and Soul” by TheFinalCountdown. I don’t intend to copy TFC or anything with his series, but I did loosely follow his structure for his introduction as I really didn’t know how to start. With that being said I hope you enjoy LU: Latino Heat.
Introduction:
Man. It’s been a long time since I have touched anything to do with the business. I am really worried I will not live up to the family name. Letting Chavo, Vickie and my girls down. On the other hand I am getting that feeling I got my very first time wrestling in front of a crowd I was so nervous but happy. I still can’t believe pops let me and Chavo wrestle each other during the breaks. Not gonna lie, I’m excited to be around the boys again. Plus it helps that the rest of the producers agreed on a lighter schedule for me so I can still be there for the girls who barely get to see their mom with that WWE schedule.
I honestly don’t know what to expect. Being around this business my who life I’ve been around a lot of different promotions met a lot of crazy bookers (looking at you Vince) but this has to be the most loco. A tv show pretending to be a wrestling promotion that contains actual wrestlers and wrestling.
What did Chavo get me into…
I don’t know what the future holds. I don’t know if I would even be good at my job. I don’t even know if I am completely up for this. But I’d be lying if I said there wasn’t this itch that I have had for years that can only be scratched by getting back into the business that raised me. I have had my own trials and tribulations, battles with my demons but I came out a better man on the other side for it. I will give this 100% because I owe that to everyone that believed in me.
Eddie Guerrero is returning backstage to run the talent operations and produce the wrestling content for the Temple of Lucha Underground. To achieve his personal goal of bringing Lucha Libre into the spotlight for the United States audience and do it with some:
LATINO HEAT!

Anticipation for LUCHA
January 2014 Boom! On January 12, 2014 Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) announced with the backing of producer Mark Burnett who created and produced hit shows such as Survivor and The Apprentice (pretty gnarly resume with just those two) will run a one-hour weekly program known as Lucha Underground.
Against the wishes of all the higher-level executives I refused to take a producer credit for the show. Honestly going into this I just wanted to enjoy wrestling and be a part of the business again even if it’s just helping produce a wrestling TV show. I did not want the attention the return of “Eddie Guerrero” would bring. I am unsure of if the crew is looking out for me or they think my name will garner more attention to the product, but I am not budging.
The ideal situation for me would be I help create an amazing wrestling product and get a lot of the boys their big payday. Nothing will make me happier than everyone I bring in getting a nice chunk of change whether they decide to spend on their families or sweet low riders.
Which brings me to the roster as the head of talent it falls on me to find and develop the best talent available for the product we are trying to achieve. I spoke to Konnan and since we are partnered with AAA he has a couple of guys lined up for us. I’m excited to see the talent up close instead of on TV and the internet.
I have been out of the game for a while. However, with all the free time I get from being a stay at home dad plus with the girls at school and Vickie on the road I have had a lot of time to keep up to date on business. I think my search will start with Dragon Gate. Japan and Mexico have shared a lot of similarities in the wrestling world and I always felt this warm feeling being over there. I’m also interested in this old MTV show called Wrestling Society X that I am using as a point of reference since it’s the closest thing I could think of for our situation. I wonder if I can bring some of those guys in they were really impressive.
August 2014 I have some say on the theatrical stuff but really Mark is dealing with dramatic aspect of the show. My focus for this product is having defined characters. One thing I have noticed is the mystique and aura of wrestlers are fading with all this social media. Even The Undertaker got beat at Wrestlemania, wow. Mark has had a great career and if that was his final moment then good for him following tradition going out on his back like a true old school man. However, I don’t want to bring back the days of Isaac Yankem (laugh) I will never let Glen live down.
A goal of mine is to try and teach these young luchadores how to tell a story in the ring. A lot of the criticism I hear of the lucha libre style is that the moves are phenomenal, but there is too many put in one match. Not enough selling being done, and nowadays it is more of a “choreographed dance” then a fight because of the lack of story well LU is going to put a stop to those comments.
Last goal the U.S. has never really accepted the lucha libre style with open arms. If we could be the first company to accomplish that it would be a feat like no other. My plan to make that work is to incorporate modern American wrestling into our product and of course the Japanese style. The focus for me will be to never lose true sight of my goal which is to showcase lucha libre.
September 2014 We are set for taping at the end of the month and I just finalized the last deal! I admit initially I did not think this backstage role will suit me. I mean I saw my father grow grey hair over this stuff, but I am so excited for the first taping!
One controversial idea that I had to fight for at the beginning was the idea of not using faces or heels. This was not a popular decision, but my reasoning I want to see how the crowd responds to the characters first and what they represent. After identifying that I will implement the face and heel split.
The execs did not like my idea. Imagine that a tv show where you get to decide who is your good guy and your bad guy instead of it being forced down your throat the whole time. As of now the roster is set. I do have some prospects on a shortlist I keep. The roster breakdown does not "completely" represent the talent we will be borrowing from AAA but it is as follows:
OOC: I really tried to limit myself in the amount of wrestlers I grabbed up but in doing research for this project I kept jumping down rabbit holes and wanted to scoop up more talent haha. At the end I tried to limit myself to 30 wrestlers. I think I went over by 2 but keep in mind these are all pay per appearance deals and we will not be seeing the talent every week. I am really excited for this project and am currently working on episode 1 of Lucha Underground. I am especially over the moon with the opportunities in story telling I will have with the TV show aspect of LU. I hope I can deliver on a good product for everyone that will read this.

VERY interested in this. Lucha companies seem like so much fun to book, never been able to do one myself Thank you for the interest it means a lot. TBH this is my first time trying this style I have only ever booked WWE and a custom promotion that was basically WWE with a different name. So I am definitely out of my comfort zone which is pretty cool in a way. I finally finished my first episode yesterday. But the whole day I have not been able to upload images for whatever reason and the show pretty much relies on images. I was able to upload the Eddie pic just two days ago but for some reason the insert image function isn't working and my attachment button is gone.
