Match #1: Brian Kendrick/Mick Foley/Sting vs. The Band

Additional Information: Desmond Wolfe will start the show on commentary to build up his match for Sunday, and will remain on commentary for most of the evening.

Notes for match: These six men were not given many notes as they are all professionals, and I just expected them to deliver a good match here.

Notes about the match: The fans were eating this match up and it was probably the best overall match to start AEW Dynamite since it began. It was the finish to the match that I thought was key as Waltman went for a Bronco Buster on Kendrick, who moved out of the way causing Waltman to crash on the second turnbuckle. As he fell backwards the top turnbuckle padding pulled away for some reason, and so when Kendrick tried to end the match with the Sliced Bread and Waltman pushed him off Kendrick’s head came into contact with the exposed turnbuckle. That set him up for the X-Factor which allowed Waltman to pin his opponent for AEW Destination X.

Result: In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, The Band (Sean Waltman, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) defeated Brian Kendrick, Mick Foley and Sting in 11:51 when Sean Waltman pinned Brian Kendrick after the X-Factor

Grade: 71

A recap of the Main Event from last week’s AEW Dynamite turns into hype for tonight, with Wolfe pointing out he is not going to be Styles partner tonight but he would be watching to see who he might be facing at AEW Lockdown.

Match #2: Daffney vs. Sarita

Notes for match: Dr. Stevie will be at ringside, but should do his best to look like he distracted by the ongoing issues with Abyss which will be aided by the commentary table discussing the bounty that he placed on the head of Abyss.

Notes about the match: I wish the fans cared more about our Women as I think that Sarita is incredibly talented and actually made Daffney look decent in this match. Another big victory for Sarita on her way to her shot at the AEW Womens Championship next week.

Result: In a poor match, Sarita defeated Daffney in 7:48 by submission with a La Reienera.

Grade: 51

After the match Larry Sweeney will lead AEW Womens Champion Hamada and Awesome Kong to the ring. Sweeney will do some talking, but then Hamada will push him out of the way and will come face to face with her challenge for next week for the big photo moment. Hamada will turn to leave Sarita…which is when Sweeney will demand Kong to attack Sarita from behind. Hamada will get back into the ring to get Kong off of Sarita as the segment ends.

In a candid moment a camera will catch AJ Styles getting ready in the back and Flair saying he felt bad and offering to fight tonight, but Styles reassured him that he got someone…and that Flair needs to mind his business because he keeps getting Styles in trouble with his mouth.

Match #3: Jushin Thunder Liger vs. Kid Kash

Additional Information: Winner will be in the Ultimate X at AEW Destination X

Notes for match: I must say it was quite shocking when I heard that NJPW had released Jushin Thunder Liger a couple of weeks ago, but when he agreed to come to the USA for a little bit to work with us I quickly changed some plans around including this match. These two vet’s were just told to go out there and do what they do.

Notes about the match: Not surprisingly, these two men put on a very good showing in front of these fans, and I think everyone was pretty surprised by the ending with Kash getting a victory with a handful of tights. As Liger looked disappointed in the ring, Ranallo did make sure to mention that Jushin Liger would still be at AEW Destination X as the forefathers of the X-Division are recognized…and then he looks at Wolfe and says “who knows, maybe he will even be looking for a match that night….”

Result: In a bout that had decent wrestling but little heat, Kid Kash defeated Jushin Thunder Liger in 8:01 by pinfall with a handful of tights.

Grade: 68

A video will play, narrated by Don Callis, showing history of the Ultimate X match (including a brief clip of Callis introducing the match concept back in the TNA days) and highlighting the five men already announced for the match…with one to go. As the commentators talk about it Wolfe refers to how only one man can be the “king of the mountain” after the Ultimate X match, and then after Callis gets in a “I think you’ve got the wrong match and person there…” there should be an abrupt move to commercials to cut them off.

Match #4: Brutus Magnus vs. Diamond Dallas Page vs. Hernandez vs. Matt Morgan

Notes for match: Commentary should mention that this match is a warm up for the Battle Royale that will be on the pre-show of AEW Destination X where the winner receiving a shot at the AEW World Championship on the next episode of AEW Dynamite.

Notes about the match: These four men were told to go out there and just put on a wild brawl with a lot of action going on. Magnus figured he had things taken care of when he tricked Morgan and Hernandez into fighting each other, but the end result was DDP turning back the clock and connecting with the Diamond Cutter for the victory.

Result: In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but sub-par wrestling, Diamond Dallas Page defeated Matt Morgan, Hernandez and Brutus Magnus in 12:27 when Diamond Dallas Page pinned Brutus Magnus with a Diamond Cutter.

Grade: 58

Two back to back videos set up a match for AEW Destination X: Rhett Titus was with Melissa Anderson and complained about how Wilde was not able to deliver like Anderson and it should be no surprise the “Playboy” has moved on. “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal and Taylor Wilde will then speak with Lethal pointing out that it was not how you treated a woman and at AEW Destination X in their mixed tag, Lethal is going to make sure to teach Titus a lesson, and Wilde will ask Lethal to leave some for her.

Professors Corner: Mike Tenay will be seated with the Motor City Machine Guns and Generation Me talking about their similarities, but as talk turns to their match at AEW Destination X all of a sudden the words get more heated and the two teams stand up and come face to face as Tenay will end the segment and try to get some order.

Match #5: Jeff Hardy vs. Shannon Moore

Additional Information: Winner will be the final participant in the Ultimate X match at AEW Destination X

Notes for match: Not one surprise, but two! The commentators should play up the surprise factor, but Wolfe will become more and more angry after Jeff Hardy comes up playing up their history with each other. The two wrestlers were given the opportunity to just go out there and hit with the high spots.

Notes about the match: The history these two men had with each other was evident throughout the match as they each seemed to know what the other was going to do before they did it. Moore made the fatal mistake of thinking that Hardy was out though and when he tried to finish the match off with a move off the top rope, Hardy rolled out of the way. After Moore had crashed and burned it was easy for Hardy to drop him with a Twisted Fate and then seal the deal with the Swanton Bomb to move on to AEW Destination X.

Result: In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Jeff Hardy defeated Shannon Moore in 7:32 by pinfall with a Swanton Bomb.

Grade: 69

After the match, Wolfe will throw his headset off and walk away in anger while Jeff celebrates in the ring.

Match #6: Abyss vs. Terry Funk

Additional Information: Hardcore match

Notes for match: These two were told to go out there and enjoy themselves in the hardcore environment.

Notes about the match: With retirement looming, Funk was brought in here for one more match in Texas. It also helped that he was a former World Champion thus adding to the ongoing story of Abyss defeating former World Champions.

Result: In a decent match, Abyss defeated Terry Funk in 5:54 by pinfall with a Black Hole Slam.

Grade: 62

Looking to get a leg-up on the bounty on the head of Abyss, Holly and Rhino will come out from the back to attack Abyss who will fight them off as best as he can…but will then be supported by Terry Funk fighting them off as well leaving Abyss and Funk to stand tall.

As promised, Kurt Angle will be out to call out Mr. Anderson….who will not show up, but as Angle keeps talking he will be interrupted by Christopher Daniels who will complain about how no one is giving him respect, and as soon as he gets in the ring Angle will take him down and lock on the Ankle Lock forcing Daniels to tap out. Angle will keep the hold on yelling for Mr. Anderson to come out, but will finally drop the hold and go to the back leaving Daniels holding his ankle.

A video will play on Frankie Kazarian, getting fans ready for his match at AEW Destination X against Samoa Joe.

Backstage Christopher Daniels will be having his ankle attended to when Samoa Joe will walk past in ring gear, look down and say “that looked like it hurt” before continuing his way….towards the ring!

Match #7: AJ Styles/Samoa Joe vs. Rob Van Dam/Sabu

Notes for match: These four were told to go out there and tell a story, with RVD being told specifically to act as cocky as he could out there.

Notes about the match: Even though it was a small part of the overall match, I wanted to give AJ and RVD a chance to have some time to work together here as their styles had a chance to clash. Everything went well in this match though, including Sabu having another decent match. While RVD is still getting cheers, there are less and less of them as this match showed with his pose drawing some boos. The big finish helped that as well as Joe had Sabu locked in the Coquina Clutch and so he did not see RVD tag in by touching Sabu’s foot. With Styles out from a Sabu dive, RVD was free to go to the top rope and he dropped onto Sabu with the Five Star Frog Splash driving his body into Joe’s, and then RVD pinned Joe to win the match for his team, giving him victory on his way to the title shot at AEW Destination X.

Result: In a bout that had great heat and good wrestling, Rob Van Dam and Sabu defeated AJ Styles and Samoa Joe in 18:24 when Rob Van Dam pinned Samoa Joe with a Five Star Frog Splash.

Grade: 71

Match #1: Consequences Creed vs. Homicide vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Kid Kash vs. Sabu vs. Super Crazy

Additional Information: Ultimate X match, with the winner receiving a shot at the AEW X-Division Championship at AEW Lockdown

Notes for match: Aim of the match should be to have a car crash sort of style of match

Notes about the match: Consequences Creed made his way out first, but he did not make it to the ring before being jumped by Homicide from behind! Super Crazy ran out to make the save, and as Kid Kash made his way out the brawl continued down to towards the ring. Jeff Hardy came out to a big reaction from the fans and joined in the fight near the ring, when the lights went out. When they came back out, Sabu was holding onto the structure for Ultimate X, and he flipped off of it and landed on the other five workers who had been brawling outside of the ring still to get things going. All wrestlers got their spots in, and attempted to get to the X that was hanging above the ring signifying the way to win. Sabu and Kid Kash worked together with Sabu jumping over the top rope to put Super Crazy through a table taking both men out. Creed and Homicide mostly kept attacking each other, and in the end their hatred was their undoing as they fought over the X, but then Homicide brought him off the top with an Ace Crusher and both men were out. Jeff and Kash looked like they would be the final two, and after Jeff put Kash out with the Swanton Bomb it looked like match over…..until Desmond Wolfe slid into the ring and attacked Jeff Hardy, taking him out with the Jawbreaker! With everyone down, it was Sabu who recovered enough to get the X, win the match, and earn the shot at the X-Division Championship at AEW Lockdown.

Result: In a decent match, Sabu defeated Homicide, Jeff Hardy, Kid Kash, Consequences Creed and Super Crazy in an Ultimate X match in 15:08 when Sabu retrieved the X. During the match we also had Desmond Wolfe run in and attack Jeff Hardy.

Grade: 67

The opening video for AEW Destination X will play while the ring is being cleaned up, with images comparing guys like Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, and Kazarian now vs. when they first came to TNA and took part in the X-Divison.

Match #2: ‘Black Machismo’ Jay Lethal/Taylor Wilde vs. Melissa Anderson/Rhett Titus

Road Agent: Terry Taylor

Notes for match: As this match will probably not be the highest quality match of the evening, they were told to go out there and work the crowd.

Notes about the match: I did not expect this match to be great, but I was still a bit disappointed in how it turned out as I figured the fans would be a bit more into the story then they were. While not specifically a part of the rules, the majority of the match featured men vs. men, and the women vs. women. Up until the end of the match that is where Titus made a blind tag while Melissa and Taylor were in the ring. Rhett waited until Wilde had launched Melissa through the ropes, and was going to follow up with a dive on her, to get into the ring and bet a quick roll up on the unsuspecting Taylor Wilde to pick up the rather cheap victory.

Result: In a bout that had sub-par wrestling and little heat, Rhett Titus and Melissa Anderson defeated 'Black Machismo' Jay Lethal and Taylor Wilde in 7:32 when Rhett Titus pinned Taylor Wilde with a roll up.

Grade: 41

Match #3: Christopher Daniels vs. Kurt Angle

Notes for match: As we had our meeting as the booking committee and discussed this match we agreed the best way forward was to give these two veterans the ability to focus on telling the story we needed them to tell.

Notes about the match: The match started off slow, with Christopher Daniels still selling the ankle injury from the Ankle Lock giving a clear target for Angle to focus on. Around the midway point of the match Angle connected with the Angle Slam and was looking to set up for the Ankle Lock again when there was a commotion from the crowd. That distracted Angle, especially when he realized it was Mr. Anderson making his way through the fans to a seat. Angle immediately tried to go after him, but was blocked by referee Brian Hebner and security, while Mr. Anderson held up the ticket he had purchased for the show. Finally Hebner managed to get Angle back into the ring after he started a ten count, but it had given Daniels the chance to recover and he took over. These two went back and forth, until they ended up outside with Angle getting too close to Mr. Anderson….who tried to back off and “accidentally” knocked a fans drink out of his hands and aimed right at Angle. That was enough for Kurt who jumped over the guard rail and went after Mr. Anderson!! Hebner tried to get out of the ring to restrain him again, but Daniels stopped him and forced him to start a ten count! While security was forcing Angle off of Mr. Anderson he was counted out, giving Daniels the count out victory.

Result: In a bout that had great heat and good wrestling, Christopher Daniels defeated Kurt Angle in 18:07 when Kurt Angle was counted out fighting Mr. Anderson at ringside.

Grade: 68

A video package will air showing still frame photos that will trace the history of the Light Heavyweight division from guys like Danny Hodge through the Dynamite Kid, Brian Pillman, Tom Zenk, Brad Anderson and ending with pictures of Sean Waltman as The Lightning Kid and then transforming into his time in TNA.

Match #4: Brian Kendrick vs. Sean Waltman

Notes for match: The Band as well as Sting and Mick Foley will be at ringside, but should not interfere in the match in anyway.

Notes about the match: A battle of two stars of the style that was the genesis for the X-Division, these two did a great job of turning the clock back with a decent match. There was a lot of close falls, but the end of the match saw Waltman try to use the exposed turnbuckle again by pulling it off and sending Kendrick towards it. This time Brian was ready and he climbed the turnbuckles and did a backflip to land behind Waltman. In that position Kendrick fired off with a Dropkick that sent Waltman into the turnbuckle, and from there Kendrick connected with a Sliced Break #2 and picked up the big upset victory!

Result: In a decent match, Brian Kendrick defeated Sean Waltman in 13:25 by pinfall with a Sliced Bread #2.

Grade: 62

After the match everyone was in the ring face to face…before Waltman broke the ice by shaking Kendricks hand. Everyone relaxed….and Kevin Nash ran Kendrick over with a Clothesline! The fight was on!! And that is when Scott Steiner ran out from the back with a pipe and used that to lay out Sting and Foley!! With Hall dropping Kendrick with The Edge, Nash, Steiner, and Waltman dragged Sting and Foley outside. They placed Sting on the announcers table….and then Nash pulled Foley up into the air and dropped him straight on Sting with the Powerbomb destroying the announcers table!! 2 Sweet for everyone as The Band stood tall over their victims.

Match #5: AEW World Tag Team Championship: The Motor City Machine Guns © vs. Generation Me

Additional Information: A video on the history of some light weight tag teams like The Rockers, The Rock ‘N Roll Express, Jericho/Storm, led into a modified version of the video package on the history of these two teams will air prior to the match, showing the contribution the MCMGs have had on the X-Division and how they influenced Generation Me to this point with both teams wanting to win tonight: to cement a legacy, or to show that they belong.

Notes for match: These two teams wanted to show off their talents by taking to the sky, and so we were quick to give them the nod to go out there and demonstrate that in a match full of high spots.

Notes about the match: Hard to keep up with this match, as these two teams absolutely just went back and forth with all sorts of great action. Most impressive was how the two teams had a lot of double team moves they were able to pull off flawlessly, but it was clear that the Guns had a bit of an experience edge as they managed to isolate Max Buck and work over his neck for about four or five minutes, which would come into play with the end of the match as Alex Shelley got Max in a Crossface.

Result: In a decent match, The Motor City Machine Guns defeated Generation Me in 12:45 when Alex Shelley submitted Max Buck with a Crossface. The Motor City Machine Guns make defence number four of the AEW World Tag Team titles.

Grade: 64

A video package played with clips and still photos of some of the starts of the Japanese Junior Heavyweight division which included Tiger Mask, Black Tiger, Ohtani, and ended with a bit of a talk of the Super J Cups and Jushin Thunder Liger and The Great Sasuke. This will lead to Paul Heyman making a surprise appearance to announce a special bonus match featuring those two men…next!

Match #6: Jushin Thunder Liger vs. The Great Sasuke

Notes for match: As these two men are still great performers, but aging, we used this match as an opportunity for them to slow things down a bit and calm the crowd down a bit.

Notes about the match: It was enjoyable to listen to Mike Tenay explain to the fans the history of these two men, once again pointing out they were finalists in the first two Super J Cups with Liger as the winner in the second one (without specifying the year of those shows). These two did work a slower style, but still managed to throw in a few high spots including the big finish of the match with saw Jushin Liger go to the top turnbuckle and connecting with a beautiful Shooting Star Press for the victory.

Result: In a decent match, Jushin Thunder Liger defeated The Great Sasuke in 8:26 by pinfall with a Shooting Star Press.

Grade: 61

As Liger and Sasuke respectfully shake hands post match they should be interrupted by Eric Young who will be out there to introduce the newest member of The World Elite, and then a brief highlight video package will play before Young introduces the fans to….

Notes for match: As Terry Funk was here tonight to work in the battle royale on the way to retirement, I asked if he would be interested in being a road agent for a match, possibly as a test for a full time gig post retirement, and this was the match he picked saying he was a big fan of Joe.

Notes about the match: The story that the wrestlers told in the match was complemented by the commentary team very well as it looked like Joe might get a quick victory as Frankie was “fighting off some ring rust after having been out of wrestling for so long.” Finally, Kazarian rolled out of the ring to shake his heads off, and when he returned he suddenly hit a flurry of moves that forced Joe to head out of the ring to catch his breath. Mike Tenay also made sure to talk about the history between these two men going back to their early days wrestling on the California independent scene, so it was no surprise that they were able to counter each others finishing moves throughout the match. The finish of the match saw Kazarian on the top turnbuckle, and Joe reacting by connecting with the CCS Enziguri that sent Kazarian flying off and down onto the guard rail, and it looked like he may have legitimately hurt his leg as referee Brandon Tolle jumped out of the ring to check on him where he was holding his leg. Joe backed up to give him some room to be checked on, which is when Christopher Daniels slid into the ring and nailed Joe in the back with a steel chair, before exiting the ring. As Tolle and Kazarian slowly got back into the ring, Joe tried to stand up, and Kazarian reacted quickly connecting with a Wave of the Future and managed to pick up the victory.

Result: In a decent match, Frankie Kazarian defeated Samoa Joe in 18:03 by pinfall with a Wave of the Future following interference from Christopher Daniels.

Grade: 67

As Desmond Wolfe is walking down to the ring for his match he will stop and grab a sign from a fan that says “Where are you Jeff?” with a picture of Jeff Jarrett on it. Giving the sign back to the fan, Wolfe will get back into the ring and start to talk trash about his opponent…but will be cut off by another video package dedicated to X-Division legends. But this will be about one man, including footage of actual matches in TNA…and the fans will be getting more excited as the music hits and out walks…..

Match #8: Desmond Wolfe vs. Jerry Lynn

Notes for match: Knowing the skills of these two workers as technicians, they were told to go out there and give the world a masterclass on that sort of wrestling.

Notes about the match: Jerry may be a step slower then his prime, but that doesn’t mean that he couldn’t still go as these two men showed. Wolfe also continued to show a more aggressive side, and the fans were sucked in by the back and forth work with Wolfe trying to wear down Lynn’s arm, but Jerry fighting back and actually even connecting with a Cradle Piledriver! Near the end of the match when Lynn went for a second Cradle Piledriver he was unable to lift Desmond due to the injured arm, which allowed Wolfe to nail a Jawbreaker and lock in the London Dungeon to pick up the big victory on the way to his title shot at AEW Lockdown.

Result: In a decent match, Desmond Wolfe defeated Jerry Lynn in 17:50 by submission with a London Dungeon.

Grade: 64

A video package will play that will show highlights from the decent pre-show match, in which Abyss won a battle royal in 14:44. The other members of the 'final four' were Scott Steiner, Bob Holly and Terry Funk, with Scott Steiner being the final elimination. D'Angelo Dinero got the most eliminations over the course of the match.

Match #9: AEW X-Division Championshp: The Amazing Red © vs. Doug Williams

Notes about the match: These two have been two of the low key best performers of the AEW era thus far, and so it was no surprise that they went out there and had one of the best matches in AEW history to this point. Williams surgically went after Red’s neck, looking to wear him down for the Chaos Theory, while Red managed to keep fighting back with Don West getting the fans actively engaged. It looked like The Amazing Red was going to pull off the victory when he came off the top with the Infrared, and landed on the knees of Doug Williams and bounced off holding his neck. From there Williams actively got a fee shots in to the neck before setting up the Chaos Theory for the three count and to become the new AEW X-Division Champion!

Result: In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Doug Williams defeated The Amazing Red in 13:06 by pinfall with a Chaos Theory. Doug Williams becomes the NEW AEW X-Division Champion.

Grade: 76

Match #10: AEW World Heavyweight Championship: AJ Styles© vs. Rob Van Dam

Additional Information: A video package should play before the match that goes through the history between these two, as well as their connection to high flying wrestling.

Notes about the match: The beginning part of this match was RVD showing off his athleticism and stymying AJ Styles, and then stopping to do this thumb pose to mock Styles and the fans. On the outside of the ring Ric Flair was yelling at Styles to “slow it down” and that was exactly what Styles did as he got RVD in a Side Headlock and proceeded to slow the match down for both men. But that was not normal for Styles as he was used to speed, and so that was exactly what he reverted back too, but when he was on the ring apron looking to hit something he was distracted momentarily by Flair yelling at him, and RVD caught AJ with a kick that dropped him off of the ring apron and down to the ground. RVD followed that up with a diving Senton Bomb (Air Van Dam) to the outside that actually landed on both AJ Styles and Ric Flair as he had rushed over to check on the AEW World Champion. RVD rolled AJ back into the ring, and then took a moment to kick Flair in the ribs on the way back into the ring. With Styles in place, RVD connected with a Split-Legged Moonsault but only got a two off of that. RVD repositioned the Champion, and went to the top rope and attempted to hit the Five Star Frog Splash, but AJ had moved out of the way and the challenge crashed into the mat, and then came to his feet just in time to fall victim to Styles Moonsault Inverted DDT for two.

From there Styles went for the Figure-four leglock while Flair is cheering from outside, but RVD managed to reverse it into a pin fall instead for two. As both men came to their feet, RVD grabbed Styles by the head and threw him into Flair who had climbed up on the ring apron and then went for a small package. When Styles kicked out of that, RVD rolled out of the ring and went and grabbed two steel chair and slid back into the ring with them. RVD set up to nail Styles with one chair, but Flair got up on the ring apron and grabbed the chair away, causing referee Mark Johnson to come over and argue with Flair to get off the apron. Using that distraction RVD threw another chair to AJ Styles, and connected with the Van Daminator!! ONE….TWO….THREE!!!

As Rob Van Dam was celebrating, Mark Johnson realized that Styles actually had his foot on the bottom rope so he forced RVD to stop celebrating and pointed to the foot. It took a few moments for RVD to make the connection, but when he did he pulled Styles to the middle of the ring and quickly connected with a Five Star Frog Splash! Instead of going for the pin right away, RVD went to the top turnbuckle and stopped to pose for the fans before trying for another Five Star Frog Splash, this time missing as Styles had found a way to roll out of the way. Slowly the two men came to their feet and AJ connected with the Styles Clash! Very, very slowly Styles rolled RVD over and pinned him….ONE….TWO…..ROB VAN DAM KICKED OUT! Both men were slow to get up, but Styles had managed to roll to the ring apron, and from there he connected with the Flying Forearm! That dropped RVD, but again he kicked out at two! Once more Styles went to the outside….and connected with the Springboard 450° Splash! ONE….TWO…THREE!!

Result: In a bout that had fantastic heat and great wrestling, AJ Styles defeated Rob Van Dam in 20:03 by pinfall with a Springboard 450° Splash. AJ Styles makes defence number twenty-five of the AEW World title.

Grade: 78

Notes for match: Commentary should make sure to focus on how any of these teams would be a formidable challenge against the Motor City Machine Gun’s based on their size and/or experience.

Notes about the match: Surprisingly the fans really got into this match, making it a better match then it might have been otherwise. Things got chaotic at the end with Hernandez leaping over the top rope and taking out everyone! Terry and Rhino were the first ones up and fought back into the ring which is where Rhino was able to connect with the Gore to pick up the victory and get the tag team title match.

Result: In a decent match, Bob Holly and Rhino defeated Hernandez and Morgan, Beer Money and TNT in 15:23 when Rhino pinned Rob Terry after a Gore

Grade: 52

The post opening credit hype from the commentary team will focus on the Main Event match between AJ Styles and Abyss for the AEW World Championship.

After the commercial Mr. Anderson will be in the ring, when Paul Heyman will come out to officially apologize for Kurt Angle attacking Anderson at AEW Destination X while he was technically a fan. As a result of his actions, Angle has been fined $50, 000 and will be suspended….until AEW Lockdown when he will return to face Mr. Anderson!

Match #2: Terry Funk vs. “The Rising Son” Okada

Referee: Brandon Tolle

Road Agent: Jerry Lynn

Notes for match: Terry Funk was supposed to have been done after the Battle Royale at AEW Destination X, but NJPW asked for this match as they wanted Terry Funk (a legend in Japan) to help put over someone they have great hopes for in Okada. As such commentary should help put over the history of Terry Funk in Japan and the potential of Okada.

Notes about the match: Of course the fans in attendance are not going to know all of this, and so they were not as wrapped up in this match as they were the previous one. That is not to say that Terry Funk didn’t try his best though, and in the end it was a Dropkick followed by a German Suplex that was enough to get the victory for Okada.

Result: In a bout that had sub-par wrestling and little heat, "The Rising Son" Okada defeated Terry Funk in 6:14 by pinfall with a German Suplex.

Grade: 47

After the match Eric Young will get into the ring with his new protégé and use the microphone to put over the dominance of Okada, and how he would be the new jewel in the World Elite going forward.

On his way back to the ring after talking with Mr. Anderson, Paul Heyman will walk in on Stevie Richards who will be talking with Raven, Holly, and Rhino about interfering in the Main Event to wreck Abyss’ chance at the title. Heyman will put a stop to that by saying if they get anywhere near the ring the tag team title shot will be done with next week, and that there will be suspensions and fines.

Match #3: Generation Me vs. James Maritato/Kid Kash

Referee: Mark Johnson

Road Agent: Terry Funk

Notes for match: Generation Me should be allowed to pull off their high spots for this match.

Notes about the match: While Kash and Maritato tried their best at times to slow the Jackson brothers down, there was no holding back the brothers who desperately wanted to get a victory after losing at AEW Destination X and they managed to pull it off against the veterans.

Result: In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Generation Me defeated James Maritato and Kid Kash in 8:26 when Jeremy Buck pinned James Maritato with a More Bang for Your Buck.

Grade: 63

As Paul Heyman gets back into his office he will be interrupted by Rob Van Dam who will demand a rematch for the World Championship, pointing out that in his contract it was guaranteed he would get a Championship shot….and he had earned his shot by winning the battle royale so his match at AEW Destination X does not count. A frustrated Heyman will agree that RVD’s contract did guarantee him a World title shot: “but it did not say…which….World Championship. So get yourself a partner and at AEW Lockdown you’ve got a shot a the AEW World Tag Team Championship. Now…..get….out!”

Ric Flair will have a camera man with him to go in and celebrate with AJ Styles, but an angry Styles will say he has a title match tonight and he does not have time to celebrate. And in fact Flair almost cost him the match, so Styles is done. “I’ve tried to be nice and let you be around the ring for my matches, but no more….I’ve got to do this on my own going forward.”

Match #4: AEW Women’s Championship: Hamada © vs. Sarita

Referee: Brian Hebner

Road Agent: Brother Devon

Notes for match: While this is a title match, the women should try and slow things down a bit so that the fans have a chance to breathe and just get wrapped up in the psychology.

Notes about the match: Slowing down the match was a good idea, but at the same time it is clear the fans still are still not sure what to make of our push of the Womens division as we attempt to make new stars. Hamada got the victory without much fanfare, but it was important to note that no one interfered on her behalf.

Result: In a terrible match, Hamada defeated Sarita in 13:23 by pinfall with a Sitout Scoop Slam Driver. Hamada makes defence number three of the AEW Womens title.

Grade: 44

A video should air here hyping up the return of the AEW World Television Championship and announce there will be eight wrestlers competing in a tournament that will conclude at AEW Slammiversary. Four of the wrestlers will be recognized wrestlers Eric Young, D’Angelo Dinero, Tomko, and Brutus Magnus and the other four will be new wrestlers who will be introduced in the next month.

Match #5: Bentley and Deaner vs. Jushin Thunder Liger/Sabu

Referee: Earl Hebner

Road Agent: D’Lo Brown

Notes for match: Doug Williams should join the commentary table for the match, and during the match Sabu should at some point get distracted by his presence.

Notes about the match: Watching Liger out there in this match I cannot fathom how NJPW let him go, even at his age he was still the best wrestler in the ring. The plan may not be a huge push for Liger but I have some plans on how he is going to help some of the wrestlers in the company and I think that tonight he showed exactly how valuable he is going to be as this was a good match because of him mostly.

Result: In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Sabu and Jushin Thunder Liger defeated Deaner & Bentley in 8:30 when Jushin Thunder Liger pinned Matt Bentley after nailing a Rolling Koppo Kick

Grade: 58

The Band will come out and announce their newest member: Scott Steiner. During this promo it will come out that Steiner was the one who attacked Mick Foley and as the Band talks about what they have done, eventually Brian Kendrick will come out all alone and attempt to take on all four men but that will go badly for him and he will end up falling victim to a Powerbomb, and then Steiner will lock on the Recliner while the rest of the Band keeps security at bay until Steiner is done with him and they leave Kendrick facedown in the ring.

Match #6: El Vagabundo vs. Shannon Moore

Referee: Brandon Tolle

Road Agent: Hector Guerrero

Notes for match: The mystery of who El Vagabundo is should be acknowledged by Ranallo and Callis, even if fans of the independent scene can probably figure it out based on the move-set and look of the wrestler.

Notes about the match: The fans were not pleased about this match as they really didn’t care about either wrestler, but at it continued on they started to get hooked as Vagabundo is a pretty special wrestler and went all out to make them care as he picked up the victory over the more established name wrestler.

Result: In a bout that had decent wrestling but little heat, El Vagabundo defeated Shannon Moore in 8:30 by pinfall with a Sitout Powerbomb.

Grade: 50

An angry Frankie Kazarian will talk about his match from AEW Destination X and how he went back and watched what happened and was not happy about the way he got the victory over Joe, and he will call out Daniels for a match for the next Dynamite to settle things.

Match #7: AEW World Championship: AJ Styles vs. Abyss

Road Agent: Court Bauer

Notes about the match: These two have had some great matches in the past and tonight was no different. With no interference it was just to allow them to go back and forth with AJ getting the big victory after a Styles Clash.

Result: In a good match, AJ Styles defeated Abyss in 14:54 by pinfall with a Styles Clash. AJ Styles makes defence number twenty-six of the AEW World title.

Grade: 70

After the match as Styles is celebrating Ranallo will start to talk frantically about something happening in the back, and on the video screen we will see Desmond Wolfe in the parking area of the ring talking to the camera so that Styles can hear, as Wolfe talks about their match at AEW Lockdown he will then talk about how he hopes nothing happens to Styles between now and then as sometimes accidents happen, and as he says that he will back up and the camera will shot a bloody Ric Flair laying on the ground next to a car. The show will go off the air with a shocked Styles leaving the ring and running towards the back.

In a bout that didn't have much heat and terrible wrestling, Raven defeated Shark Boy in 7:35 by pinfall with an Evenflow DDT. (37)

Jeremy Borash has an interview with Deaner and Bentley who talk about Jushin Thunder Liger and how there is an outbreak of “masked freaks” (Liger, Sasuke, El Vagabundo) showing up in AEW and something needs to be done before they overtake the entire company “like a…..like a….like a bunch of rats!”

In a bout that had sub-par wrestling and little heat, Awesome Kong defeated Roxxi in 7:31 by pinfall with a Sitout Powerbomb. (50)

In a decent match, Team 3D defeated James Maritato and Kid Kash in 8:21 when Brother Devon pinned Kid Kash with a 3D Dudley Death Drop. (59)

Christopher Daniels responds to Kazarian and points out that he was never the target, but that if he felt like he needed to step up, Daniels would gladly use him to make a martyr out of him on Wednesday night.

In a decent match, Christopher Daniels defeated Super Crazy in 7:51 by pinfall with an Angel's Wings. (63)

Rememberin' Rasslin' Round the World: March 2010

The War in Japan continues! Things have deteriorated between AJPW and NJPW to the point where they are actively hostile towards each other, and have also broken their agreement to not sign wrestlers who are already contracted to the other company. Interestingly with this agreement no longer in place, it did not result in AJPW trying to sign Japanese Legend Jushin Liger who instead turned towards US promotion AEW as a place to try and get his career back on track. Liger will be used to help some of the young and up and coming talent there almost in a player-coach role, but does hope to one day return to his home country to finish his career. Going the other direction is the former Akira Raijin who has signed with NJPW and will team up with Yoshihiro Tajiri. Chemistry was discovered when the two men teamed together in AEW and it is believed that Tajiri had a big role in Raijin coming to NJPW.

A couple interesting developments with WWE and their developmental. The former Dos Caras Jr. has been brought up and given the name Alberto Del Rio and immediately put into big matches against Jack Swagger and HHH himself. Meanwhile in FCW a couple of new workers have been signed as Petey Williams makes the big leap up as well as relative newcomer Jessie Godderz, a former Big Brother contestant. Obviously these two men were hired for two very different reasons and hopefully with have pectacular careers!

It was also a big month for contract extensions as NJPW signed their (hopeful) future Ace to a long term extension, locking Hiroshi Tanahashi up! Wade Barrett and R-Truth meanwhile were two big extensions in WWE.

Big changes when it comes to television for a couple of independent companies as ROH lost their TV time slot and so did FCW. Both will be looking at ways to gain more viewers and to continue their growth and exposure.

Finally, a couple of big injuries to pass along. CM Punk will be out for another month, while Batista finds himself out for three months, but should be back in time for Summerslam.

Match #1: Consequences Creed/Jerry Lynn/The Amazing Red vs. Homicide/James Maritato/Kid Kash

Referee: Earl Hebner

Road Agent: Paul Heyman

Notes for match: Looking to start the show off hot, these two teams should go out there and fire off some hot spots.

Notes about the match: The story that held this match together was the hatred between Creed and Homicide as they were in their almost every time the other was in the match. Although when Creed got a close two count on Homicide, their fight quickly carried out and into the crowd leaving the other four wrestlers to finish the match. This led to Lynn becoming the focus of Maritato and Kash, with Maritato especially focusing in on the arm of Lynn to the point that when Lynn did have the chance to go for the Cradle Piledriver he had to drop the hold and tag out to the former X-Division Champion, and The Amazing Red came through and picked up the victory for the team.

Result: In a poor match, Jerry Lynn, Consequences Creed and The Amazing Red defeated Homicide, James Maritato and Kid Kash in 11:56 when The Amazing Red pinned Kid Kash with a Code Red.

Grade: 61

Post opening credit commentary will hype up the story between Daniels, Kazarian and Samoa Joe in preparation for the Main Event.

Match #2: Miroslav vs. Samoa Joe

Notes for match: Knowing this was going to be a short match, I wanted to bring they physicality out in Joe and told them to go out there and have a short, but wild, brawl.

Notes about the match: Miroslav was a relatively new wrestler, having only been training for a couple years, but this brute of a man from Bulgaria held his own against Joe. That only pushed Joe to attack harder, and eventually he managed to put Miroslav down with the Muscle Buster, but looked pretty worn out after doing so.

Result: In a bout that had sub-par wrestling and little heat, Samoa Joe defeated Miroslav in 6:06 by pinfall with a Muscle Buster.

Grade: 69

As Joe walks from the back, wiping the sweat from his brow, Frankie Kazarian will come up to him and attempt to apologize for AEW Destination X, but Joe will cut him off and let him know that talk is cheap, but he would be watching the Main Event tonight to see if Frankie was actually a man of his word…or just someone just trying to play games with him.

The World Elite will be gathered around Eric Young who will point out how great Okada was going to be, how amazing a technician that Doug Williams is and that is why he is the X-Division Champion, and that both Young and Brutus will be competing for the AEW World Television Champion, “and sure only one of us, me, will win that…but a quarter of the competitors are from the World Elite because even AEW management realized how great we are.” He will then turn to talking about his spotlight match next week against a former member, Rob Terry and pointing out how his future was destined for failure because he had left the group, something Young would prove next week.

Match #3: Rob Van Dam vs. Super Crazy

Referee: Brandon Tolle

Road Agent: James Maritato

Notes for match: These two athletes were told to feel free to go out there and try to steal the show in the time they were given.

Notes about the match: RVD got to show off his cockiness in this match as both men were out there showing off their skills, but only RVD took the time after big moves to play to the crowd who are still mixed in booing him, but slowly getting there. The ending was not going to be a surprise with Rob getting the victory after connecting with his Frog Splash. After the match he got on the microphone and admitted that he had found a tag team partner, someone who will team with RVD next week on Dynamite against Generation Me, so whomever wins the tag team title match tonight will soon be seeing their reign as champions go up in smoke when they lose the belts at AEW Lockdown.

Result: In a decent match, Rob Van Dam defeated Super Crazy in 10:46 by pinfall with a Five Star Frog Splash.

Grade: 64

A hype segment, narrated by Mike Tenay, will play showing highlights of the boxing career of D’Angelo Dinero and featuring friends and families as his spotlight for his entry in the AEW World Television Championship tournament.

Match #4: D’Angelo Dinero vs. Greg Valentine

Notes for match: Match totally meant as a spotlight for Dinero

Notes about the match: While this match was about making sure Dinero looked good, there was some effort made to preserving continuity as Dinero’s previous injury was worked over by Valentine, giving Dinero the opportunity to fight back from underneath and picking up the victory on his way to the Tournament.

Result: In a decent match, D'Angelo Dinero defeated Greg Valentine in 7:27 by pinfall with a D.D.E..

Grade: 50

Mr. Anderson will come out to talk about the injustice of having to face Kurt Angle at AEW Lockdown, and about how he will be facing a “mystery Legend” next week in his final match. While he continues to run down “so called Legends” he will be interrupted by Diamond Dallas Page. Mr. Anderson should talk about how DDP is his opponent and it’s about time someone puts him out to pasture, but DDP will talk back and say he is only out here to tell Anderson to shut up so he could introduce his opponent. Some bagpipes will play and out will walk….

Notes for match: The commentary table should talk about how the rules will be followed in this match, meaning no interference and no weapons and only the best team will win and go on to face Rob Van Dam and his opponent at AEW Lockdown.

Notes about the match: Actually a pretty good match as the Guns were willing to take a beating to draw the sympathy needed from the fans, so that when they connected on the comeback the fans were completely into it and were loudly cheering with the Guns won the match and set up the match at AEW Lockdown. Now who will be their opponents tag partner?

Result: In a decent match, The Motor City Machine Guns defeated Bob Holly and Rhino in 13:19 when Alex Shelley pinned Rhino with a Made in Detroit. The Motor City Machine Guns make defence number five of the AEW World Tag Team titles.

Grade: 61

Commentary will introduce video footage from after the show last week when Styles arrived on the scene, desperately trying to check on Flair. That is when Wolfe will attack from behind and sent AJ into the car face first, and then he will open the car door and slam it on Styles arm before locking in the London Dungeon injuring the arm further until other wrestlers showed up to try and separate them and get both Flair and Styles the help they needed.

Another spotlight video segment will air, although Tenay will mention that no one wanted to give compliments about Shawn Spears….except for Spear who goes off about his virtue. As the segment ends, Tenay will announce that in addition to the spotlight segments next week, he will also be attempting to set up a phone call with Jeff Jarrett, based on fans popular demand!

Match #6: Scorpio Sky vs. Shawn Spears

Notes for match: The spotlight should be aimed entirely at Shawn Spears in this match.

Notes about the match: The fans did not really care about either man, and that may have caused some nerves as this was not a great match, although Spears did have some good character work as he got into a shouting match with some fans during the match.

Result: In a bout that had terrible wrestling and non-existent crowd heat, Shawn Spears defeated Scorpio Sky in 5:50 by pinfall with a Hangman's Neckbreaker.

Grade: 30

Taz will have Rhett Titus in the ring and talk about how he wanted Titus to come out and demonstrate his finishing move……and will then start to mock him saying that his finishing move is a roll up on a woman. When Titus starts to get upset about that, Taylor Wilde will run out to attack him, but Melissa Anderson will haul her off and they will fight and later it will be announced they will meet next week with the winner facing Hamada for the AEW Women’s Championship at AEW Lockdown.

Christopher Daniels is in the ring with a smirk on his face, and a backstage camera will find out why as Kazarian is out the ground holding the same leg that he injured at AEW Destination X. Joe will come and check on him, and then in a huff and wearing his street clothes will head towards the ring.

Match #7: Christopher Daniels vs. Samoa Joe

Notes for match: Obviously this match will be mostly about the storyline as Joe will be fighting in his street clothes.

Notes about the match: Mostly a fight with Daniels doing everything in his power to slow Joe down, but eventually Joe just started to lose steam after already having been in action tonight. Things got chaotic at the end when Kazarian limped out from the back and had to be restrained, which led to Joe and referee Brooks getting distracted. That allowed Daniels to connect with a low blow and then the Angel’s Wings for the victory.

Result: In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Christopher Daniels defeated Samoa Joe in 18:12 by pinfall with an Angel's Wings after a distraction from Frankie Kazarian.

Grade: 62

A video package with Paul Heyman will end the show. He will talk about how in the past Lockdown was all cage matches, but that will not happen this year. To pay homage to the past there will be two cage matches though as the Main Event will see AJ Styles defend the AEW World Championship against Desmond Wolfe. He will then introduce Lethal Lockdown 2.0, where it will not be a traditional cage, but rather will be cage walls set up with space between them and the ring. Attached to the walls will be weapons and it will still feature staggered entries, and in the match it will be three representatives of The Band vs. Mick Foley, Sting and a wrestler of their choosing as Brian Kendrick will miss the event due to being injured last week.

More exclusive footage shows that while the AEW World Tag Team titles were being defending on Dynamite, Abyss attacked Dr. Stevie and Raven in their locker room.

Match #1: Frankie Kazarian/Samoa Joe vs. Kid Kash/Michael Modest

Additional Information: Christopher Daniels will join the commentary table to continue the storyline there

Notes for match: A lot going on in this match with the storyline dissent between Joe and Kazarian which should be played up in this match, but they should also get the crowd worked up to start this how off on the right foot.

Notes about the match: When in California, you’ve got to use Michael Modest at least once right? This match was a great way to start the show even when the fans did not care much about Kash and Modest. Joe and Kazarian spent a decent amount of the match trying to one up the other, but the end of the match was really interesting as Kazarian connected with the Wave of the Future on Modest, but then tagged out to Samoa Joe who climbed into the ring and locked in the Coquina Clutch for the easy submission victory.

Result: In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Samoa Joe and Frankie Kazarian defeated Michael Modest and Kid Kash in 13:27 when Samoa Joe submitted Michael Modest with a Coquina Clutch.

Grade: 70

Hype for the Main Event with the emphasis being on this being Roddy Piper’s “final match ever” against Mr. Anderson

A verbal confrontation in the back between Joe and Kazarian after they exit the ring will lead Joe to saying he wants to end this once and for all and so he wants Kazarian….and Christopher Daniels in the ring at the same time at AEW Lockdown!

The spotlight this week will be on Steve Corino, who will talk about his history as the King of Old School, and while he has had a great career in Japan, this shot in the AEW World Television Tournament may be his last opportunity to really make an impact in North America and what better opponent than a true old school sort of guy.

Match #2: Greg Valentine vs. Steve Corino

Notes for match: Just like in other spotlight matches, the emphasis on this match was to make sure that Steve Corino looked good.

Notes about the match: There was a total clash between these two men and unfortunately the end result was that the fans cared about this match, but it just was not a good match at all.

Result: In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but terrible wrestling, Steve Corino defeated Greg Valentine in 6:23 by pinfall with a Scoop Brainbuster.

Grade: 43

Jeremy Borash should announce that due to their six man tag team victory last week, Jerry Lynn, The Amazing Red and Consequences Creed will fight in a triple threat match at AEW Lockdown to determine the #1 Contender to the AEW X-Division Championship. With that information out there, Borash will interview Jerry Lynn pointing out that he had suffered some damage to his arm in the match when Maritato worked over it…and now Lynn was risking further injury by facing off in a singles match against Maritato…why? Lynn will put over how he is a competitor who fights injured, and even though he is getting older he still feels it is important to handle his business in the ring, he can’t let people think they can take advantage of him and he is going to prove that tonight against Maritato.

Match #3: James Maritato vs. Jerry Lynn

Notes for match: The focus of this match should revolve around the two veterans telling a story

Notes about the match: Throughout the match Lynn did his very best, but Maritato kept going for the arm including locking him in a Fujiwara Armbar for a lengthy amount of time. While Lynn did get the victory, he left the ring in noticeable pain as he clung to his arm.

Result: In a decent match, Jerry Lynn defeated James Maritato in 9:45 by pinfall with a Roll up.

Grade: 51

After the match we will get a segment with Mike Tenay trying to call through to Jeff Jarrett, but when Jeff eventually does answer the phone he ends up disconnecting when Tenay says he is calling and that Jeff will be on AEW Dynamite.

Prior to the next match RVD will come out and introduce his tag team partner saying that this match will feature….”R-V-D & T” as he announces his tag team partner….

….BOOKER T!

Match #4: Booker T/RVD vs. Generation Me

Notes for match: While this match is all about Booker T and RVD, the brothers Buck should still make sure to take the opportunity to get some high spots in.

Notes about the match: This actually turned out to be a pretty fun match with Booker T managing to slow things down a bit after Max, Jeremy and RVD had the pace quite high. In the end RVD got tagged in after Booker T put Jeremy down with the Axe Kick, and connected from the top with the Five Star Frog Splash on the back of Jeremy and then a flip of Jeremy put him on his back for the three count.

Result: In a good match, Booker & RVD defeated Generation Me in 13:12 when Rob Van Dam pinned Jeremy Buck with a Five Star Frog Splash.

Grade: 66

Jeremy Borash will be interviewing The Band about Lethal Lockdown 2.0 and Scott Hall should do his “scary finger” thing about the match, while Nash will be nonchalant about announcing that he and Hall will be two of the men in the Lethal Lockdown because they are not scared, and they are the best tag team in the group….”but next week, Sean, Scott how about you are in a tag team match and whichever of you two gets the victory you’ll be our third? Now we just need a tag team for you to face…..” At that point Generation Me will be making their way from the ring and The Band will pat them on the backs and ask them if they were in for the match, and Generation Me will awkwardly agree while Jeremy is still holding his back from the Frog Splash.

A backstage segment will air where Dr. Stevie has brought in a cameraman while he yells at Bob Holly and Rhino about losing in their match for the AEW World Tag Team Championship, and for not being there when Abyss attacked them and…before he can go on any longer, an angry Bob Holly will stand up and say that he wants an anything goes match against Abyss and AEW Lockdown and he will finish this once and for all!

Match #5: Melissa Anderson vs. Taylor Wilde

Additional Information: Winner will face Hamada for the AEW Womens Championship match at AEW Lockdown

Notes for match: The match should begin with Rhett Titus escorting Melissa Anderson to the ring, which will result in ‘Black Machismo’ coming out during the match to equal the sides. Hamada will also be standing near the ring to watch what is going on with the match without directly interfering.

Notes about the match: This was a real back and forth match until near the end when Rhett Titus tried to get involved and Lethal went after him providing a distraction for Brian Hebner. Surprisingly this is when the Beautiful People came out with Velvet and Lacey taking out Hamada and Rayne giving Wilde a Spear which allow Anderson to get the victory after hitting her own finishing move and setting up the title match at AEW Lockdown.

Result: In a poor match, Melissa Anderson defeated Taylor Wilde in 8:05 by pinfall with a Vertebreaker following interference from Madison Rayne.

Grade: 49

After the match the Beautiful People and Melissa Anderson will keep the beatdown going, even after Sarita runs down to try and make the save. That will bring out Awesome Kong and once she gets into the ring everyone will clear out as no one wants to mess with Kong.

Notes for match: These two should go all out to try and put on the best match possible.

Notes about the match: Scorpio Sky looked good last week so I wanted to give him another chance this week to impress, and it is clear he can still use some polish, but this turned out to be a decent defense for Williams. After the match Doug Williams got on the microphone to talk about how he was going to beat Sabu at AEW Lockdown…..when the lights went out. When they came back on Sabu was standing in the ring pointing to the sky….and Doug Williams had already backpedaled and left the ring holding the title belt and yelling about Lockdown.

Result: In a bout that had sub-par wrestling and little heat, Doug Williams defeated Scorpio Sky in 6:03 by pinfall with a Chaos Theory. Doug Williams makes defence number one of the AEW X-Division title.

Grade: 54

The spotlight video about Eric Young will be turned into Young talking about the history between Rob Terry and the World Elite and how Terry could have been the future of the business like “The Rising Son” Okada, but he blew his chance and tonight he will be nothing but a bump on the road to Eric Young getting back the belt he never lost!

Match #7: Eric Young vs. Rob Terry

Notes about the match: A battle of strength from Terry against the cheating of Eric Young…in the end Young did get the victory after using a distraction from Okada, and a foreign object from his tights to get the victory in his spotlight match.

Result: In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but sub-par wrestling, Eric Young defeated Rob Terry in 7:50 by pinfall after using a foreign object.

Grade: 50

A video will play to hype the Steel Cage match between AJ Styles and Desmond Wolfe at AEW Lockdown, before announcing that the Main Event next week will see Champions team up as AJ Styles and the Motor City Machine Guns face off against Desmond Wolfe, Booker T and RVD.

Match #8: Mr. Anderson vs. “Rowdy” Roddy Piper

Additional Information: Piper’s “retirement match”-DDP at ringside

Notes for match: This match should be a wild brawl to help mask the obvious deficiencies of Roddy Piper.

Notes about the match: Every time Piper cheated in this match, the fans cheered louder giving the legend the send off he deserves. The two men fought out of the ring, with Piper bouncing Mr. Anderson’s head off of the commentary table, before fighting back into the ring. The Rowdy One got the Sleeper locked on to very loud cheers, but shortly after that Mr. Anderson fought out of that and then got a Mic Check and picked up the victory in the legend’s final match.

Result: In a bout that had great heat and good wrestling, Mr. Anderson defeated Roddy Piper in 13:29 by pinfall with a Mic Check.

Grade: 76
