Good evening ladies and gentlemen and WELCOME EVERYONE TO THE 1993 EDITION OF THE ROYAL RUMBLE! We are live from New York City, Gorilla Monsoon here joined at the broadcast table by Bobby "The Brain" Heenan and "Macho Man" Randy Savage and gentlemen? It's that time of year again, a favorite for all the folks at home tonight as thirty men are set to enter an over the top rope battle royale for our main event and only one man can walk away the winner and for the first time in the history of the Royal Rumble? The stakes are even higher! The winner of the Royal Rumble will be making their way to the main event of Wrestlemania, where they will have a GUARANTEED WWF Championship match waiting for them! But there's plenty more to fight for here tonight for those that don't find themselves in the Royal Rumble here tonight!

Folks my apologies for the unprofessional behavior of my colleagues, also  to look forward to tonight, the prospect of some grudges coming to an end as Mr. Perfect is set to take on Ric Flair in what could be a show stealing occasion tonight and also Big Bossman finally hopes to enact justice against Bam Bam Bigelow as the two big men take each other on in a street fight.

And of course who could forget, the WWF is going to crown a NEW CHAMPION tonight as Lex Luger , the absolute Adonis, the clear physical specimen of superiority that he is will take on Bret Hart and you heard it here first folks, I predict that Luger will DOMINATE Hart here tonight and become the NEW FACE of the WWF!

It's an action packed night that's for sure, and we're about to start off the occasion with tag team action as The Steiner Brothers take on The Headshrinkers...the winners? Will be taking on Money Inc. for the Tag Team Championships at Wrestlemania.

 VS. 

We begin the evening with hard hitting, back and forth tag team action between two young, impressive, fast paced, athletic teams both hungry for success and both bringing their best fight to get the crowd warmed up and to win the opportunity to face the WWF Tag Team Champions at Wrestlemania IX. It started off between Rick Steiner and Samu. Who would both showcase their raw strength and prowess that they brought to the team. Rick would manage to wrestle Samu to the ground, using beely to back takedowns, Russian leg sweeps and trying on one or two occasions to land a belly to belly suplex but Samu was ready and willing to fight back, breaking out of Rick Steiner's grasp and fighting back with well placed, full force chops and slaps to the chest, accompanied by hard hitting headbutts before scoop slamming Rick to the mat. When tags were made. It seemed that Scott Steiner and Fatu were the more fast paced, athletic representations of the team, although Scott definitely had strength he managed to show off, using his amateur wrestling arsenal. However Scott's moves were more surprising, throwing Fatu off the ropes and jumping up and over before the Samoan before delivering a hurricanrana to the wild man. Scott would also take to the top rope more, willing to risk his body with diving elbows axe handles and even a diving dropkick which he delivered to Samu at one point in the match. That's not to say that Fatu did not impress either. With his pinpoint, fast and hard hitting super kicks, chops, hip tosses, arm drags and at one point also resorting to the corner to hit a diving body splash onto Scott Steiner for a close two count.

The end of the match would come however with Scott Steiner hitting his impressive Frankensteiner on Samu for the three count, although The Headshrinkers certainly have nothing to be ashamed of, The Steiner's are the ones who will be walking to Wrestlemania IX to face Money Inc.

Street Fight
Bam Bam Bigelow VS. Big Bossman


 VS. 

The big men finally settled their score in what was a WILD BRAWL for the times here in the WWF! With the family friendly atmosphere that the WWF is trying to present, the commentator's actually had to deliver a warning to parents to put the little ones to bed for this one as it might get ugly and ugly is indeed how it got. To say the audience was unprepared for the hardcore brawling that took place in this street fight? Such as the moment that Big Bossman got sent THROUGH the padded barricades by Bam Bam Bigelow with a mighty splash and the two would end up brawling through the crowd? Or the shot straight to Bam Bam's head with Bossman's nightstick that sent Bam Bam busted wide open! Or the final, shocking moment of the match, where Bam Bam Bigelow had Big Bossman laid out flat on a stripped down, torn apart commentary table. He made his way to the turnbuckle, leaving the fans looking on in shock, awe and disbelief, as he hit Bossman with a moonsault, causing the commentary table to collapse and picking up the win outside the ring as the falls count anywhere rule was in play. Bam Bam picks up the win, but due to the nature of the current Family Friendly crowd. This is a match that probably won't be talked about the way it should until discovered later by those watching on tape...

Grudge Match
Mr. Perfect VS. Ric Flair


 VS. 

The action most certainly picked up in this bout, one of the fan favorites of the night. It was certainly slated to be a show stealer and definitely a contender after all things were said. Flair and Perfect. To say that this was a technical masterclass? Is simply stating the obvious. This was a fight for wrestling supremacy from beginning to end. Both men were testing each other's abilities. Trying to outmaneuver each other, one up each other and keep themselves in a solid position so that they could gain the upper hand. Frustrations would build from Ric Flair however, as every time it seemed he'd finally outwitted, or out moved Perfect. An elbow to the face, A roll, a twist, a spin, an arm drag, a hip toss. Perfect seemed to have a move for every situation that Flair put him in. A moment of opportunity came knocking for Flair however, when he managed to roll out of the way of a running attack in the corner, causing Perfect to meet the ring post instead and go reeling back to the mat. Flair quickly capitalized by working on the leg, driving his knees over and over into the right leg of Mr Perfect. From there, Flair seemed to have Perfect where he wanted for a good chunk. Aiming his sights on Perfect's legs so that he could easily synch in the Figure Four later in the match. Perfect would make one valiant fight back though, limping on one leg as he managed to deliver a neckbreaker to flair. The damage however had been done. And Perfect spent too much time recovering that he could not capitalise on it. Instead, Flair would deliver a chop block, knocking Perfect down at the knees and then...came the figure four, and to make sure that he had the upper hand, Ric Flair positioned himself so he could reach out and grab the ropes for leverage, leaving Mr. Perfect no other option but to tap out from the strain!

Flair wins by submission with a little leverage from the ropes!

Snip, Snip...


 

Ric Flair is strutting in celebration for his questionable victory over Mr. Perfect. A win is a win in the Nature Boy's books however and now? Now was the moment to add humiliation to Mr. Perfect's night. Flair went over and ordered for a ring hand to fetch his robe. Simply thinking this was so Ric could leave in style. The ring hand did so. No questions asked. What happened in stead though, was a moment that certainly would go down in the Recaps for anybody who missed it. Ric reached into the pocket of his robe...AND PULLED OUT A PAIR OF SCISSORS! He turns and points to the fallen Mr. Perfect, a wide toothy grin on his face, holding the scissors up into the air for all to see! He plans to humiliate Perfect here tonight! He goes over to Perfect, grabbing him by the hair, holding a big, thick CHUNK of it in his hand and starts snipping away. at Perfect's hair! Perfect is riled back to life by that! He tries to fight it, throwing his head back into Flair's gut, sending Flair reeling. As Perfect scrambles to his feet, Flair quickly escapes from the ring before Perfect can do anything. Holding up clumps of Mr. Perfect's golden locks in his hand, laughing all the way to the back...this rivalry isn't over yet...

WWF Intercontinental Championship
Shawn Michaels VS. Tatanka



 VS. 

To say that Tatanka managed to surprise Shawn Michaels in this match, is an understatement. Shawn, as always was cocky, boastful and was underestimating the value of his opponent extremely here tonight. Shawn simply was looking to show off in front of Randy Savage, given their back and forth the past few weeks, but those moments of distraction served for Tatanka's gain. One example, when Shawn had Tatanka outside of the ring and he briefly turned his attention towards Macho, boasting how Macho wishes it could be him instead. Telling Macho it's as close as he'll ever get to a match with him. Tatanka came back, striking and chopping at Shawn before delivering a beautiful one legged dropkick straight to the chin of Shawn which, undoubtedly put a smile on Randy Savage's face.  It was after this moment, Shawn stopped playing games, and started being serious, as Tatanka was making a comeback, harnessing energy from the fans, stomping in the ring he delivered one running chop, then another, then another. It looked like he was going for that Tomahawk chop when all of a sudden, SHAWN THREW THE REF TOWARDS TATANKA AS COVER! The ref got chopped by mistake! As Tatanka found himself briefly distracted, Shawn used this an opportunity to deliver a sickening low blow to Tatanka and drain him of all his momentum! In addition to this, came Shawn Michaels' sweetheart, Sensational Sherri.



Sherri jumps up on the apron! As Shawn tosses Tatanka towards the ropes, she conks him on the back of the head with her stiletto heels! Tatanks goes tumbling forward STRAIGHT INTO A SUPER KICK FROM SHAWN MICHAELS! He covers Tatanka! Sherri nudges the ref awake! Yelling at him that Shawn's got the pin!

SHAWN PICKS UP THE WIN WITH THE ASSIST OF SHERRI!

After The Match...
 

Shawn couldn't allow the crime of Tatanka making a fool of him go unpunished, in a rage, Shawn went out of the ring ordering traffic, telling officials to get out of his way as he grabbed a steel a chair and started heading back towards the ring. As soon as Shawn grabbed the chair and head into the ring however...




Macho Man got up on his feet from commentary. The fans got on the edge of their seats in the hopes they would finally see it. Randy Savage charged into the ring! As SHawn lifted the chair up above his head! Randy manages to grab it in time before he can hit Tatanka! Randy saved Tatanka! He snatches the chair from Michaels and tosses it out of the ring! As Shawn turns around to see who it was that grabbed the chair, he recoils in fear, his eyes widening, his jaw dropping. He tries to run behind Sherri, but Randy pushes Sherri out of the way! He pushes Shawn into the corner! Yes Macho GET HIM! The crowd erupts as Randy delivers blows to Michaels, He hoists Michaels up onto the turnbuckle...and slams him down to the center of the mat...Savage isn't done. HE GETS UP ON THE TURNBUCKLE! THE CROWD RAISE TO THE FEET AS HE POINTS TO THE SKY!

DIVING ELBOW DROP TO SHAWN MICHAELS! THE CROWD GOES WILD! Who knows if Randy Savage will ever get the match he wants with Shawn Michaels! But one thing is certain tonight! He has given Shawn a TASTE OF HIS OWN MEDICINE!

Bret Hart VS. Lex Luger

 VS. 

It was the match of the night, and so it should be. Although Flair and Perfect fought valiantly to try and steal the show. This was a cementing moment for both men in the ring. Luger, a new face to the company, wanting to make a name for himself, wanting to be the new face of the company...and Bret, the established champion. The man who had been looked over so many times before, Now trying to lead a New Generation. Luger would quickly learn he could not bully Bret the way that he could bully others. Bret had been in the ring with men like Luger before, he knew how to work around them, how to use his skill and techique to overcome their strength and physique and that is exactly what Bret did. Do not think this was just a masterclass from Bret. No, this was a fight. A close fight. Luger was making Bret fight for it, every step of the way. At one point in the match, Luger had Bret in position for a belly to back suplex, but Bret was determined to stay planted. He couldn't break Luger's grasp, despite how he tried, and he refused to let Luger overpower him. So, Luger charged forward instead, thinking of sending Bret straight into the ring post to knock him silly. Instead, Bret kicked up his legs, using the ring post and turnbuckle as leverage to send Luger tumbling back and roll out of Luger's grasp. The match, would ultimately end with Bret managing to fight out of the torture rack! As Bret tried to make a running dash at Luger. Luger threw him up onto his shoulders and locked in the rack. Bret twisted and struggled, but managed to move his body in a way where he could drive his elbows straight into Luger's head. Once...twice...three times. Luger was losing his grasp, and as he did so, Bret hooked his arm around Luger's head, and came tumbling down, delivering a bulldog to Luger. He synched in the Sharpshooter and picked up the win over Luger for a well earned defense of the title.

30 MAN ROYAL RUMBLE
WINNER GOES TO MAIN EVENT OF WRESTLEMANIA IX

** HIGHLIGHTS **

The First Two...

Ladies and gentlemen it is now time, FOR THE ROYAL RUMBLE MATCH! This thirty man over the top rope Battle Royale, will start with two men in the ring, then, after every two minutes another participant will enter the ring, until all thirty men have entered. The only way to eliminate your opponent is by throwing them over the top rope! Once all other twenty nine men have been eliminated, the winner of this match will be going to the MAIN EVENT of WRESTLEMANIA IX!

The First Entrant into the 1993 Royal Rumble Is...


It's Jerry "The King" Lawler! An unfortunate spot for many perhaps but if anybody could possibly make it work with their conniving ways and sneaky underhanded tactics, it's Jerry Lawler! He makes his way in full King garb as expected, crown and robe and all, looking very confident, in fact over confident with how he is going to perform tonight, given that he has pulled the dreaded number one spot in the rumble. His luck could not pan out much worse...

And The SECOND entrant to the 1993 Royal Rumble Is...




Well...if it seemed that Jerry Lawler's luck could not get any worse, the very first man that he has to try and eliminate is none other, than The Undertaker. The Undertaker has not appeared on live television yet, seemingly absent from Monday Night Raw which makes his appearance here at the Rumble special for the fans and the moment those dreaded bells hit? The confidence on Jerry Lawler was quickly changed to a look and aura of imminent dread as the crowd erupted in applause and adulation at the fact that not only were they getting to see The Deadman, but they were looking forward to seeing him absolutely dismantle and destroy Jerry Lawler...

The First Elimination



At this point, the first four entrants to the Royal Rumble are already in the ring. The Undertaker, Jerry Lawler, who at this point is looking gassed and exhausted after facing multiple attacks from the Undertaker. In fact, Jerry SHOULD have already been eliminated if it were not for the fact that The King managed to slip by an official and act as if he had never been thrown out by The Undertaker. A sneaky move though it may have been, it only earned him further beating. Leaving him in the worn down state he was now. We also have entrant number three, Bob Backlund and Entrant number Four, Jim Duggan. The four men are brawling amongst one another. Duggan is trying to wear down Backlund in one corner, whilst Undertaker's attention is still squarely on Lawler after Lawler managed to get one by him earlier in the match. Lawler tries to fight back with a slap to Undertaker's face, but Taker reaches out and grabs him by the throat! He hoists Lawler up into the air and...CHOKESLAM OVER THE TOP ROPE! THAT'S IT THAT DOES IT! LAWLER IS DEFINITELY OUT! HE IS THE FIRST MAN ELIMINATED!

Better Luck Next Time Barry...



Second entrant, Undertaker, Fourth Entrant Jim Duggan, Sixth Entrant Damien Demento and Eigth Entrant Crush are currently all fighting to try and take the Deadman out in a moment of teamwork as three men team up to try and eliminate one. The Undertaker is putting up a fight however, delivering hard strikes to each man's head, sending them reeling back one by one, when the TENTH ENTRANT to the Royal Rumble is making his way towards the ring...


IT'S...Barry...Horowitz?

Barry is eagerly making his way to the ring, hoping to use the Royal Rumble as an opportunity to make a good impression and who knows? Maybe walk away with the most UNLIKELY UNDERDOG STORY EVER TO- No wai...never mind...Unfortunately ffor Barry despite his eager get up and go attitude, the first man he meets as he enters the ring is none other than the Undertaker, who has just managed to fend himself off from the three on one assault. As soon as Horowitz enters the ring he is scooped up and tossed over the top rope by Taker. This would be Taker's THIRD Elimination in the night so far. Eliminating Jerry Lawler and Bob Backlund beforehand. Sorry Barry. Better luck next time...

IT'S RODDY PIPER! RODDY PIPER IS BACK IN THE WWF!

The fans go wild as "Hot Rod" makes his way to the ring to the sound of the bagpipes behind him. Piper wastes no time, charging at full steam into the ring which currently has The Undertaker, Rick Martel, Kamala, Owen Hart and Doink The Clown fighting in the ring! Oh wait, what's this?

 


It looks like Martel is trying to get an easy elimination as he tries to get a cheap shot in on Roddy to send him tumbling! But Roddy was ready, firing back at Martel with a flurry of blows of his own! He grabs a hold of Martel's pretty little face, dragging him over to the ring corner and slamming it against the turnbuckle. Martel goes tumbling down flat on the mat! Piper looks around at the crowd who are cheering for him, telling him to eliminate Martel. Piper just shrugs his shoulders, doing as his loving audience is asking of him, he hoists Martel back up to his feet and with one swift motion, tosses The Model over and out of The Royal Rumble!

What the heck? Who in the world is this?! Ladies and gentlemen...this...this is a new face to the World Wrestling Federation! This well built athletic looking young man, adorned with fingerless gloves and blue trunks with the name "Shamrock" upon them. Yes ladies and gentlemen we are just getting confirmation this new face to the WWF is the debut of none other than KEN SHAMROCK! What an opportunity to make a debut. Imagine it, earning a spot at the Wrestlemania Main Event in your very first match! Ken makes his way to the ring, inside is currently Roddy Piper, The Undertaker, Typhoon and Jim Brunzell. Ken is bringing a take no prisoners attitude! Entering with a blaze of fury and energy, heading straight for Roddy Piper who tries to show the new guy how it's done! Instead Roddy is met with a vicious side arm takedown, followed by a flurry of strikes to Piper's face, all the while Shamrock is screaming with rage. He pulls Piper up to his feet and with a mighty kick to the gut, Shamrock sends Piper reeling up and over the ropes, eliminating the returning legend from the Rumble.

Entrant Number 30...



We will soon be heading to the closing moments of the Rumble folks, it's been one hell of a sight to see as The Undertaker, YES, THE UNDERTAKER who has made it this far all the way from entrant number TWO is currently sitting at SIX ELIMINATIONS! This is EASILY a record setting appearance for a Royal Rumble so far! Not only has The Deadman been in the match the longest so far, but he certainly has the most eliminations. Accompanying Undertaker is Entrant Number 23, Ken Shamrock. Entrant Number 25 Ted Dibiase and Entrant Number 27, Razor Ramon. At this point, even Undertaker seems staggered, more reserved, his energy definitely more depleted than what it was when he entered, he's had to face off multiple attempts to throw him over, two on one assaults, three on one assaults and what has easily been over fifty minutes of action thus far! The clock is counting down as the final entrant is going to make their way to the ring!








There's only one man it COULD be! IT'S YOKOZUNA!

The Final Four



It isn't long after Yokozuna's entrance that we will see the elimination that leaves us with the FINAL FOUR participants of the match. In a moment of either sheer bravery, stupidity, or uncontrollable rage. Ken Shamrock charges after the fresh man Yokozuna. Although his efforts certainly are valiant. Shamrock is no match for the fresh big man Yoko. Yoko isn't knocked back by Shamrock's charge and with Shamrock now in Yoko's grasp. Yokozuna clenches the shoulders of Ken Shamrock! Clawing into them! Yoko screams at Shamrock as he lifts him up into the air! Onto the turnbuckle! He delivers a few blows to Shamrock, knocking him groggy. Yokozuna takes a step back...and then delivers a KICK straight to Shamrock's CHEST! Sending him careening off of the turnbuckle and out onto the floor! Ken Shamrock is Eliminated! OUR FINAL FOUR ARE DIBIASE, RAZOR RAMON, UNDERTAKER AND YOKOZUNA!

The Final Three...





Ted Dibiase is currently at the mercy of Yokozuna, down and clinging on to dear life in the bottom left corner, clawing and clinging at the turnbuckle as Yoko continues to stomp at him repeatedly, driving Ted Dibiase's body straight into the metal ring post! Meanwhile. Razor is looking for glory! The Undertaker is a battered man. Even The Deadman hasn't faced a test such as this. An hour into the match, the second man in the rumble, the longest time, the most eliminations. If Razor manages to capitalize on a weakened Undertaker like this it is NOTHING to be Ashamed of! Razor has Undertaker positioned for what looks like The Razor's Edge! He lifts Taker up onto his shoulders. Could this be it for The Undertaker! He's kicking! He's fighting!

I DON'T BELIEVE IT! UNDERTAKER MANAGES TO FIGHT OUT! HE SLIDES DOWN THE BACK OF RAAMON! HE'S NOW STANDING BEHIND HIM!
As Razor Ramon is turned around he is met with a hard right handed Uppercut, Straight to the chin by Undertaker that even caused the Undertaker to groan as he MUST be running off of fumes! Razor is sent back reeling! His arms are caught in the ropes! He's helpless! He's got nowhere to go! Undertaker stalks Ramon like pray! He delivers a DEVASTATING BIG BOOT which helps Razor come undone for the ropes, but only by sending him over and OUT of The Rumble!

And Then There Were THREE!

The Final TWO



Meanwhile still at the mercy of Yokozuna in the corner is Ted Dibiase, his grip is weakening with each blow that he is recieved! After Undertaker has eliminated Ramon, The Deadman is using this as an opportunity to regain anything, something, whatever energy he can summon to see if he can pull off an astonishing win here tonight! Yokozuna, with his eyes fixated on the downed Dibiase in the corner, takes a few steps back, he stomps his left foot, then his right, and with a mighty YELL he CHARGES straight at the downed Ted Dibiase! He delivers a kick which must have been heard around the arena! STRAIGHT TO DIBIASE'S HEAD! Like a ragdoll! Dibiase's body tumbles, his grip of the turnbuckle completely lost as he rolls out, the officials declaring him eliminated after examining him, declaring him unfit to re-enter!

OUR FINAL TWO COMPETITORS ARE UNDERTAKER AND YOKOZUNA!!

Going To Wrestlemania




We are down to our two final competitors and oh boy...the moment these two stand face to face with one another, the sound is deafening. The fans have been behind The Undertaker the whole night, from the moment he entered at Number 2. As the match went on, as it wore down Taker's body and soul, as he eliminated superstar after superstar and fought off countless attempts to ruin his momentum, their love for Taker only grew and their support for him has seen him through to what could be a career defining moment for him. It is a historic night non the less for Taker and now...the only man standing in his way is Yokozuna...two behemoth men, bringing an end to our Rumble.

AND THEY'RE AT IT!

The two trade strikes with one another. The crowd booing with each strike Yoko lands, then cheering with each one Taker lands! Yoko! Taker! Yoko! Taker! Yoko!...Taker!...Taker! Taker's gaining the momentum! Strike...strike...strike, he tosses Yoko to the ropes...AND HITS HIM WITH A BIG BOOT AS HE COMES BACK! Yoko isn't quite down yet though! The boot only sends him reeling! He does it again! BIG BOOT! OHHHH YOKO IS SO CLOSE TO TUMBLING DOWN! Taker goes running himself this time! AND FINALLY KNOCKS THE BIG MAN DOWN WITH THAT PATTENTED JUMPING CLOTHESLINE! THE CROWD IS FEELING IT! THEY'RE BELIEVING IT! Taker hoists Yoko up, grabbing him by that MASSIVE WAIST! Taker's arms can actually manage to fit around! It's like a sumo match! As taker grunts and groans, pushing Yoko towards the ropes! Yoko is trying to fight it!, Trying to break Taker's grasp! He delivers a headbutt! But Taker's being defiant! Another headbutt! Taker fights back with a kick to Yoko's shins! He manages to get the big man against the ropes! COULD THIS BE IT?! COULD TAKER MAKE HISTORY HERE TONIGHT?
