WWE Wrestlemania 38- Night One April 2, 2022 AT&T Stadium Arlington, TX
*Randy Orton d. Brock Lesnar by Pinfall Randy Orton and Kevin Owens had both won the Men's Royal Rumble match back in January, and both men were set to challenge Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship over Wrestlemania weekend. To break the deadlock, WWE official Adam Pearce proposed that one man would face Reigns in the Main Event of Night One, while the other would face the winner of that match in the main event of Night Two, with a coin flip determining who would choose to go first or second amongst the challengers. To make it fairer, whoever got the Night Two Championship Match would have to face an opponent of Reigns' choosing in the opening of Night One. Owens won the coin toss and elected to go first, leaving Randy Orton to face Reigns' choice, Brock Lesnar. Lesnar had agreed to the match, as Reigns had offered to lift the ban on Lesnar challenging him for the World Heavyweight Title in the future, provided Lesnar beat the Viper. After a back and forth match though, Lesnar would be surprised by Orton, who caught the Beast Incarnate with an RKO out of nowhere and then followed up with a Punt Kick to get the upset pinfall victory. After the match, though, Lesnar would lay out Orton, busting him open with his fists and then drilling him with an F5 through the Spanish announce table, leaving Orton needed to be helped to the back.
*Logan Paul d. AJ Styles by Pinfall The Social Media Maverick Logan Paul and the Phenomenal One AJ Styles had crossed paths with each other in the Royal Rumble match in January, with Styles being eliminated by Paul during the course of the match. Styles then went on Paul's podcast and the two got into a verbat argument that had to be broken up by the security staff on hand, leading to Styles challenging Paul to a match at Wrestlemania. As he had done in previous outings, Paul surprised a lot of people with his athleticism and high flying ability, but Styles tried to ground him, even locking Paul in the Calf Crusher and getting a visual tapout. Unfortunately the referee was down, and Logan's brother Jake Paul came out of the crowd and attempted to intervene. Styles went after Jake and eventually caught him, taking him out by ramming him into the ringpost. When he came back in the ring though, Logan used a pair of brass knuckles to KO Styles, before delivering a high elevation Frogsplash to the Phenomenal One as the referee came too to pick up the win.
*The Usos [Jimmy & Jey Uso] d. Rey & Dominik Mysterio by Pinfall to Retain the WWE Tag Team Titles The father and son tandem of Rey and Dominik Mysterio had won a tournament to crown new #1 contenders to the Usos WWE Tag Team Titles, leading to this familial clash at Wrestlemania. The Usos spent much of the time of the match focusing exclusively on Dominik, doing everything they could to keep Rey on the outside. Dominik had been adamant on "carrying his weight" during the build to the match, leading to some disagreement between father and son, and so Dominik was reluctant to tag in Rey. Eventually though desperation won out, and Rey got the hot tag from his son, leading to him cleaning house of the Usos. It was mostly a two on one advantage at that point however, despite Dominik's best efforts, leading to the Usos hitting the 1D on Rey to pick up the pinfall win and retain their titles.
*Drew McIntyre d. Lucky Corbin w/Maniac Moss by Pinfall Since January, former Intercontinental Champion Lucky Corbin and his sidekick, Maniac Moss, had been parading around with the Claymore sword family heirloom that they had taken from Drew McIntyre when they injured him at Day One and on the subsequent episode of Smackdown. This frivolity came to an end at Elimination Chamber, when McIntyre returned and cost Corbin a shot at the WWE Championship, and then later when McIntyre cost Corbin the Intercontinental Title against Shinsuke Nakamura. Having taken his prized possessions from him, McIntyre looked to finish his revenge against the "Luckiest Man in WWE." Corbin fared much better than most would have expected against the former WWE Champion, even hitting the End of Days on McIntyre, only for the Scottish Warrior to kick out. Maniac Moss attempted to get involved, but was taken out by a Claymore Kick from McIntyre, who followed up with another Claymore on Corbin to get the pinfall victory.
*Sami Zayn d. Gable Steveson w/Kurt Angle by Pinfall At the Royal Rumble, Olympic gold medalist and recent WWE signee Gable Steveson was in the crowd and was challenged to an impromptu match by Sami Zayn. Steveson proceeded to embarras the former WWE Champion, leading to Zayn walking out on the match and taking a countout loss. Zayn would get his revenge in Pittsburgh, when he confronted Steveson and another former gold medalist, WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle. This led Steveson to challenging Zayn at Wrestlemania for his first official WWE match, with Angle in his corner. Zayn accepted, and despite his experience advantage, Steveson again was able to toss Zayn around with little difficulty. However the experience did make the difference in the end, as Zayn rolled up Steveson from behind and used leverage from the ropes to get the pinfall. After the match, when Steveson offered a handshake, Zayn blew him off, leading to Steveson hitting an Angle Slam on Zayn and then celebrating with Angle in the ring.
*Chelsea Green & Alexa Bliss d. The Unholy Union [Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn], The Young Tigers [Mia Yim & Xia Li] & Sasha Banks & Naomi by Pinfall to Win the Women's Tag Team Titles Chelsea Green, the resident "Karen" of WWE, had made it her goal to win gold in the company, targeting the Women's Tag Team Titles with a variety of partners over the months. Her latest partner was the disturbed Alexa Bliss, who despite no longer being under the thrall of Bray Wyatt, was still portraying a spooky character, who seemingly was infatuated with Green. The duo faced the Unholy Union, as well as former champions The Young Tigers, and the dream team of Sasha Banks and Naomi in a Four Team Elimination Match. Surprisingly enough the champions were the first ones eliminated, followed by Yim and Li. It looked like Green's quest would fail again at the hands of Banks and Naomi when the Boss had Green in the Banks Statement, only for Bliss to make the save and take out the former Women's Champion. Green then rolled up Naomi from behind and got the sudden pinfall victory to finally win gold in the WWE.
*Big E d. Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods by Pinfall The New Day had disintegrated at the Royal Rumble, when Xavier Woods turned on WWE Champion Big E and cost him his title. At Elimination Chamber, Woods continued his heel turn by targeting Kofi Kingston and nearly costing him his career, only for Big E to return and confront Woods. This would lead to a triple threat match at Mania, with Kingston also looking to not only get revenge on Woods but to stand on his own as he had a few Wrestlemanias prior. In an emotionally charged match, Woods would be pinned by Big E with a measure of revenge via a Jackhammer Slam after dodging a Steel Chair shot, similar to the one that took out Kingston. After the match Woods sulked off as Kingston and Big E shook hands and reaffirmed their own friendship.
*Liv Morgan d. Charlotte Flair by Pinfall to Win the WWE Women's Championship At Day One, people had been surprised by the success that Queen of the Ring winner Liv Morgan had against Charlotte Flair, even though Morgan eventually failed to unseat the unofficial Queen for her Women's Championship. A lifelong WWE fan, Morgan rededicated herself and unexpectedly won the Women's Royal Rumble Match for another shot at Flair. Charlotte however didn't take Morgan seriously, asking what in the last three months had changed that would make the outcome of their match any different. And indeed it looked like Flair would prove prophetic, as she controlled much of the match, targeting Morgan's knee in an effort to set up the Figure 8. However Morgan was able to avoid the submission hold and hit the Oblivion DDT to pick up the win surprisingly, much to the crowd's delight as she was crowned the Women's Champion for the first time in her career.
*Roman Reigns w/Paul Heyman d. Kevin Owens by Pinfall to Retain the World Heavyweight Championship The first World Title defense of the weekend saw Roman Reigns defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Kevin Owens, one of the co-winners of the Royal Rumble match. The former champion didn't allow Reigns his customary grandiose entrance, attacking him on the rampway and launching into a brawl the went up and down AT&T stadium in the early going before finally getting the match back in the ring and officially underway. Once that happened, Reigns asserted his dominance, slowing the pace down and fighting back against Owens' unique offense, including a long spot when he locked the Canadian in a Guillotine Choke and nearly choked him out. Owens fought back and hit a Stunner for a near fall, but before Owens could follow up, Reigns drilled him with back to back Superman Punches before hitting a thunderous Spear for another near fall. With both men down, Brock Lesnar slowly made his way to ringside to watch, only to be taken out by a returning Randy Orton, who brawled with the Beast. Reigns took advantage of the commotion on the outside to grab the World Heavyweight Championship Belt from his Wiseman Paul Heyman, drilling Owens across the skull and then following up with a second Spear to pick up the win to end Night 1 of Wrestlemania 38.

WWE Wrestlemania 38 April 3, 2022 AT&T Stadium Arlington, TX
Night Two *Cody Rhodes d. John Cena by Pinfall John Cena had appeared on an episode of Smackdown to promote Wrestlemania 38, while stating that he would be in attendance as a fan and not as a participant this year. This brought out the host of Wrestlemania, Stone Cold Steve Austin, who promised Cena an opponent for Wrestlemania, in order to make sure this Texas Wrestlemania was the greatest ever. To kick off Night 2, Cena showed up, slowly followed by Steve Austin. Before Austin could name the opponent, they were both interrupted by The Miz, who claimed he would be Cena's opponent (closely followed by R-Truth, who wanted a chance to face his "childhood idol" in Cena. Both Miz and R-Truth ate Stone Cold Stunners for their troubles. After teasing that he would be the opponent, Austin introduced a returning Cody Rhodes as the opponent for Cena. Rhodes and Cena had a competitive match, which ultimately saw Rhodes hit the Cross Rhodes twice in a row to get the pinfall on Cena. After the match, an emotional Cody saluted the crowd and had his hand raised by Cena and Austin, being cemented as a top babyface going forward.
*Tomasso Ciampa d. Sheamus w/The Donnybrook Club by Pinfall to Retain the United States Title Sheamus had formed a new group called The Donnybrook Club, which included Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate. The three brawlers had gone on a winning streak since their formation, with Sheamus now challenging Tomasso Ciampa for the United States title. After a drag down fight between the two, Sheamus came close to winning as he set up Ciampa for a Brogue Kick. However Ciampa was able to dodge the kick, causing Sheamus to land awkwardly on his leg. Ciampa then took advantage, hitting the Fairy Tale Ending to pick up the win and retain the title. After the match, Sheamus had to be helped to the back, though he would later be said to be okay.
*The Street Profits [Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford] d. War Raiders [Erik & Ivar], Alpha Academy [Chad Gable & Otis] & Grizzled Young Veterans [James Drake & Zach Gibson] by Pinfall to Win the World Tag Team Titles Alpha Academy had initially said they wouldn't defend the World Tag Team Titles at Wrestlemania, due to "lack of competition." However WWE official Adam Pearce denied them that request, forcing Gable and Otis to face three former champions in a Fatal Fourway match instead. War Raiders dominated the early part of the match, until Otis hit a running splash off the apron through a table that took out Ivar, leaving much of the match down to the Grizzled Young Veterans and Street Profits. Gable nearly stole a victory after hitting Zach Gibson with a Chaos Theory suplex after Gibson and Drake took out Dawkins, but Montez Ford hit a high angle splash to break up the pin, before pinning Gable himself to pick up the victory and give the Street Profits the titles.
*Johnny Gargano d. Shinsuke Nakamura w/Rick Boogs by Pinfall to Win the Intercontinental Title Former NXT Champion Johnny Gargano had been on a winning streak, earning a shot on Smackdown against Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura by winning a Battle Royal. Nakamura had regained the title from Luck Corbin thanks to help from Drew McIntyre. At first it looked like the King of Strong Style would easily retain, but to the shock of everyone the valiant Gargano kicked out of a Boma Ye. Gargano then fought back, dodging another attempted Boma Ye before hitting the One Last Beat to upset the champion and win the Intercontinental Title. After the match, Nakamura bowed as a sign of respect towards Gargano.
*Bobby Lashley & Pat McAfee w/MVP d. Seth Rollins & Shane McMahon by Pinfall Bobby Lashley and Seth Rollins had been feuding since the Royal Rumble, with Rollins aligning himself with WWE co-owner Shane McMahon in the intermediary which allowed Rollins to get a win over the Almighty at Elimination Chamber. Lashley found a tag team partner and ally in sometimes WWE color commentator and former football star Pat McAfee, after Shane went on an episode of McAfee's podcast and a near brawl broke out between the two. To the chagrin of Lashley's manager, MVP, a tag match was set up at Wrestlemania. While Rollins and Lashley did most of the heavy lifting, McMahon and McAfee did mix it up a few times during the match. In the end, Lashley hit Rollins with a Spear while McAfee hit Shane with his own version of a Stunner to pick up the victory.
*Bray Wyatt d. Uncle Howdy by Submission Since his return in the fall, Bray Wyatt had eschewed his former personas in favor of a person more reflective of his real life identity as Windham Rotunda. His goal was to be more of himself and "cease to where a mask" for the world. However, this would constantly be interrupted by the appearance of a man in his own mask and top hat, who wanted Wyatt to return to the persona of The Fiend and "Embrace Who He Was." The man referred to himself as "Uncle Howdy", which was according to Wyatt, based on an imaginary friend that he and his brother, Bo Dallas, had created as children, revealing Howdy to actually be Bo Dallas under a mask. After confronting his brother to no effect, the two met in a match at Wrestlemania. At first Wyatt refused to fight his brother, giving Uncle Howdy the advantage. Eventually however, Wyatt would succumb to the temptation (some would see need) to embrace his former self, placing a new version of the Fiend mask on himself and taking full control. He then decimated Bo Dallas, seemingly to the delight of Uncle Howdy, before locking in a Mandible Claw and knocking him out. Afterwards, the lights went out in AT&T Stadium, and when they came back up the two men had disappeared.
*Edge w/Damian Priest & Dexter Lumis d. Finn Balor by Pinfall to Retain the WWE Championship Courtesy of his victory at the Elimination Chamber, Finn Balor challenged Edge for the WWE Championship. However Edge had an early advantage in the form of his Judgment Day disciples, Damian Priest and Dexter Lumis, at his side. Quickly though, the referee would eject them from ringside, giving Balor a chance to even the odds. The referee went down late in the match, but Balor still set up Edge for a Coup de Grace from the top rope. However a hooded figure suddenly appeared at ringside and shoved Balor off the top rope, before removing her hood to reveal former Women's Champion Rhea Ripley underneath. This distraction and interference allowed Edge to hit a Spear to pick up the win and retain his title.
*Bianca Belair d. Becky Lynch by Pinfall to Win the Women's World Championship At Summerslam, Bianca Belair had been blindsided by Becky Lynch and her sudden cash-in of the Money in the Bank Contract to win the Women's World Championship. Since that time, Lynch (now going by the moniker of Big Time Becks) had done everything in her power to avoid a one on one rematch with Belair, until Bianca managed to win the Women's Elimination Chamber match, earning a shot at The Man. Lynch and Belair had an evenly paced fight, which saw Lynch attempt to sheer off Belair's signature ponytail with a pair of scissors. Belair fought back though, using her own hair as a whip to damage Lynch before hitting the champion with a Kiss of Death to pick up the win and regain the title.
*Roman Reigns w/Paul Heyman d. Randy Orton w/Matt Riddle by Pinfall to Retain the World Heavyweight Championship Due to having been brutalized by Brock Lesnar the night before, there was question as to whether or not Randy Orton would be medically cleared to compete against Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of Night 2. The Viper would turn up, however, despite having taped ribs, bringing his tag partner Matt Riddle along for the ride in order to try and counter the presence of the Usos in the building. Orton and Reigns had a match similar to the one Reigns and Owens had the night before, with Reigns focusing on the injured ribs of the future Hall of Famer. Orton battled out of an attempted Guillotine Choke, and eventually countered a Superman Punch with an RKO out of nowhere. That only managed a two count though, leaving Orton to go for a Punt Kick to the champion. Reigns dodged that and hit a Spear, before following up with a second Spear to get the victory, yet again retaining his title and continuing his monumental reign as champion to close the show.

*Gunther w/Imperium d. Kevin Owens by Technical Submission The night after Wrestlemania 38 saw former NXT champion Gunther and his stable Imperium make their official debut on the Main Roster, as they declared themselves lords and masters over the "sacred mat" of WWE. The first to answer their challenge was Kevin Owens. The co-winner of the Royal Rumble didn't take kindly to the domineering of the Ring General, leading to a feud between the two and this eventual collision. Owens took control early on, but the former champion quickly shut down Owens with several hard knife edge chops that seemed to take the wind out of the Prizefighter. Eventually Gunther hit a hard lariat on Owens and then locked him in a Sleeper Hold, choking out Owens and getting the huge upset via technical submission
*Bray Wyatt & Bo Dallas d. Damian Priest & Dexter Lumis by Pinfall After their encounter at Wrestlemania, real life brothers Bray Wyatt and Bo Dallas had reunited both under their real selves and their alter egos (The Fiend and Uncle Howdy respectively) to form a new formidable tag team. The two entered into a feud with the Judgment Day, specifically Edge's disciples Damian Priest and Dexter Lumis, leading to a tag team encounter. Priest and Lumis targeted Dallas at first, but Wyatt eventually made the hot tag and cleared house, eventually pinning Lumis after hitting the Sister Abigail on him as Priest seemingly abandoned his tag partner to the Wyatt brothers.
*Liv Morgan d. Chelsea Green w/Alexa Bliss by Pinfall to Retain the Women's Championship After winning the Women's Tag Team Titles, Chelsea Green was looking to add singles gold to her collection, targeting the newly crowned Women's Champion Liv Morgan in the process. With her tag partner, Alexa Bliss, by her side, Morgan appeared to be outnumbered for her first major title defense. However a mistimed trip from Bliss to Green wound up costing the challenger, giving Morgan the chance to hit the Oblivion DDT on Green to pick up the win and retain her title.
*Xavier Woods d. Big E w/Kofi Kingston by Disqualification [Woods Retains the United States Title] The night after Wrestlemania, Xavier Woods finally achieved his goal of singles gold by winning the United States Title. The following week against his former partner Kofi Kingston, Woods retained that gold by getting himself intentionally disqualified, only for Kingston to be saved by Big E before Woods could do anymore damage to him. That led to this match, where Woods didn't have a championship advantage, as Adam Pearce ruled that a disqualification would cause the title to change hands. However it would be Big E who would lose his cool against his former New Day teammate, refusing to back out of the corner after making a comeback on Xavier and tossing the referee aside, resulting in Woods winning the match via disqualification and escaping with his title.
*Bianca Belair d. Shayna Baszler by Pinfall to Retain the Women's World Championship Bianca Belair picked up right where she left off after regaining the Women's World Championship, taking on all contenders that stepped up to the EST. The Queen of Spades, Shayna Baszler, was the latest to challenge Belair, and the two had a surprisingly competitive match, which saw Baszler lock Belair in the Kirafuda Clutch and nearly score the victory. Belair managed to power her way out of the submission hold, though, and eventually hit Baszler with the Kiss of Death to get the victory and retain her title.
*The Usos [Jimmy & Jey Uso] & Sami Zayn w/Paul Heyman d. AJ Styles & RK-Bro [Randy Orton & Matt Riddle] by Pinfall After Randy Orton lost his title match against Roman Reigns, he set about trying to take out the Bloodline again, teaming with both his tag team partner Matt Riddle and the latest target for Reigns' title, AJ Styles. Teaming with the Usos was, surprisingly, Sami Zayn, who had seemingly befriended Jimmy Uso backstage and had begun hanging around with the Bloodline stable. Sami proved himsel invaluable in this match, diving in front of Jey Uso to intercept a Phenomenal Forearm from Styles and arguably save the match at one point. In the end, the Bloodline would prove too strong, as the Usos pinned Riddle after hitting an Uso Splash. During the match, Orton rolled out of the ring, clutching his back, and it would later be reported that he suffered a severe back injury stemming from this match.
*Shane McMahon d. Bobby Lashley w/MVP in a Last Man Standing Match While Seth Rollins had moved away from the feud with Bobby Lashley, the All Mighty found himself in the Crosshairs of one of the directors of WWE, Shane McMahon. Shane-o-Mac didn't take kindly to Lashley's victory at Wrestlemania, and challenged the former WWE Champion to a Last Man Standing Match. At first, this appeared to be foolish, as Lashley easily tossed McMahon around the ring. However to the shock of everyone, Lashley would be attacked by a returning Omos. The Nigerian Colossus laid out the All Mighty, and also began taking marching orders from Lashley's own manager, MVP, who turned on the All Mighty and aligned himself with Omos. After the Nigerian delivered a massive chokeslam through a table, the referee counted to ten, giving McMahon the tainted victory over Lashley.
*Edge w/Rhea Ripley d. Rey Mysterio w/Dominik Mysterio by Pinfall to Retain the WWE Championship Now united with former Women's Champion Rhea Ripley in the Judgment Day, WWE Champion Edge had renewed the rivalry he had with his former friend, Rey Mysterio, from the previous year. Only this time Edge was trying to recruit Rey's son Dominik into the Judgment Day, with the younger Mysterio refusing this time around (despite a level of fascination from Ripley). In this WWE Title match, Ripley would try to interfere by hitting Rey with the title belt, only for Dominik to intercede and a tug of war to break out over the WWE Title. Rhea let go of the belt long enough for Dominik to accidentally drill his father in the back as he was rebounding off the ropes for a 619, stunning him. Edge then followed up with a Spear for the victory and title retention.
*Cody Rhodes d. Seth Rollins by Pinfall At Wrestlemania 38, Cody Rhodes had made his surprise return to WWE after several years away (during which time he had toured the US indies and played an instrumental role in the creation of WWE's primary competition, All Elite Wrestling) and defeated John Cena in his return match. The following night on Raw, Cody addressed the WWE fans and declared his intention to "finish his story" the right way by becoming a World Champion in WWE. He was greeted by Seth Rollins, who came out to welcome Rhodes back to the company, shaking his hand before delivering a low blow to Rhodes and then a Curb Stomp. Rollins was personally insulted by Rhodes' return, saying Rhodes had tried to "tear down" everything while he was away and that he didn't deserve a "second chance." This led to a one on one match between the two men at Backlash. After a lengthy back and forth between the two men, Cody was able to emulate his old mentor Randy Orton by dodging a Stomp and hitting a Cody Cutter out of nowhere, before following up with a Cross Rhodes to pick up the win, celebrating with the crowd while Rollins slinked off to close the show.

*The Creed Brothers [Julius & Brutus Creed] d. Gallus [Mark & Joe Coffey] by Pinfall to win the 2022 Dusty Rhodes Tag Classic The 2022 edition of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Classic came down to the British duo of Gallus, the brothers Mark & Joe Coffey, and their American counterparts the Creed Brothers, Julius & Brutus. The two amateur Americans utilized their power to control the match in spurts, but Gallus used their experience to thwart the Creeds in a highly competitive match. In the end, The Creeds managed to overcome Gallus with a combination lariat and German Suplex to pick up the win. After the match though, the newly crowned tournament winners were attacked by NXT Tag Champions Pretty Deadly, which set up a Tag Title Defense right then and there for the next match.
*The Creed Brothers [Julius & Brutus Creed] d. Pretty Deadly [Kit Wilson & Elton Prince] by Disqualification (Pretty Deadly Retains the NXT Tag Team Titles) The champions attempted to take advantage of the weakened challengers, beating them down before the bell and trying to end their title defense early. The Creeds, though weakened, withstood the early onslaught and even managed to get the upper hand late, before Wilson and Prince hit stereo low blows on the challengers, forcing the disqualification and keeping their titles in desperation.
*Tony D'Angelo w/The Family d. Andre Chase w/Chase University by Pinfall Two recently created factions within NXT had been feuding off and on over the past several weeks, leading to this one on one match. The self-professed "Don" of NXT along with his henchmen (Stacks Lorenzo and Tommy "Two Dimes" Donovan) took on the Headmaster of Chase University, Andre Chase, who had his star pupils (Duke Hudson and Bodhi Hayward) in his corner. With shenanigans and brawls happening on the outside, D'Angelo took advantage of the distraction and hit Chase with a loaded shoe to knock him out and pick up the pin.
*Indi Hartwell d. Io Shirai by Pinfall to Win the NXT Women's Title After Io Shirai regained the NXT Women's Championship from Mandy Rose, she immediately had to turn around and defend the title against the #1 contender, Indi Hartwell. To the surprise of many, the Mistress of the Sky was unable to put the "Impressive Icon" away, and Hartwell hit a slingshot shoulder tackle followed by a second rope elbow drop to pick up the upset win and take the NXT Women's Championship.
*Karrion Kross w/Scarlett d. Santos Escobar w/Cruz del Toro & Joaquin Wilde by Submission Joe Gacy's Walking Apocalypse, Karrion Kross, continued his reign of destruction through NXT, taking out Santos Escobar and the entirety of Legados del Fantasma in one fell swoop, defeating Escobar by submission with the Kross Jacket.
*Carmelo Hayes w/Trick Williams d. LA Knight by Pinfall to Retain the NXT North American Title Carmelo Hayes' personal hype man, Trick Williams, had nearly talked the North American champion into a match he couldn't win, getting into a war of words with LA Knight on an episode of NXT, in which Williams agreed that Hayes wouldn't have a championship advantage in their title match at In Your House. Knight attempted to goad Hayes into a disqualification, but the champion kept his cool and defeated LA Knight with the Nothing But Net to retain his title.
*Bron Breakker w/The Breakker Crew d. Joe Gacy w/Karrion Kross by Pinfall to Retain the NXT Championship Almost from the beginning of his title reign, Bron Breakker and the rest of the Breakker Crew had to deal with the self-professed "Patriarch" of NXT in Joe Gacy and his own personal weapon of destruction, Karrion Kross. After weeks of fighting, this led to Gacy challenging Bron for the NXT Championship, with Von and Ben Breakker remaining in Bron's corner to try and counteract the presence of Kross in Gacy's corner. Despite Kross being neutralized, Gacy took advantage of an early miscue by the champion to target Bron's knee, trying to eliminate Breakker's power advantage. However Bron fought back and hit a massive Spear for a two count on Gacy. When Kross tried to get involved, the Breakker Crew began fighting with him on the outside, the 2 on 1 stopping him from directly interfering. However Scarlett handed the NXT Championship belt to Gacy, who hit Breakker with the title and nearly stole a victory because of it, but Bron was able to barely get the shoulder up. Breakker would then mount a comeback and hit a second Spear before following up with a Steiner Screwdriver to pick up the win and retain his title, with the Breakker Crew standing tall to end the show.

WWE Hell in a Cell June 5, 2022 United Center Chicago, IL
*Kofi Kingston d. Xavier Woods by Pinfall in a Non-Title Hell in a Cell Match With Big E having to step away from the ring temporarily due to neck issues unrelated to his feud with his former teammate, it was left to Kofi Kingston to try get revenge on Xavier Woods inside Hell in a Cell. The two former teammates tore into each other with ferocity, with Kingston finally shedding any inhibitions he had about taking down Woods, busting him open by slingshotting him into the Cell wall at one point. At the end of the match, Woods seemingly begged off Kingston as Kofi was going to attempt to hit him with a steel chair. Kingston backed off briefly, conflicted, but Woods took advantage and tripped him up, attempting to hit Kingston with the chair instead. Kofi countered with a Trouble in Paradise to the chair, KO'ing Woods and picking up the non-title win.
*The Donnybrook Club [Pete Dunne & Tyler Bate] d. Imperium [Ludwig Kaiser & Giovanni Vinci] by Pinfall The newly formed Donnyrook Club of Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate (associated with Sheamus) had begun a feud with NXT callups Imperium, including their leader, the Ring General Gunther. In this tag match, Dunne and Bate's experience as part of British Strong Style came to the forefront, as Dunne hit Vinci with a Bitter End for the victory.
*Omos w/MVP d. Bobby Lashley by Pinfall The previous month had seen MVP turn on Bobby Lashley, costing him a Last Man Standing Match against Shane McMahon. MVP's new client, the Nigerian Colossus Omos, had dominated the All Mighty at every turn since then. The situation was no different here, as Lashley was unable to damage Omos at any time, while Omos was able to ragdoll Lashley in a way no one else had ever been able to. In the end, Omos broke out of Lashley's attempts of locking him in the Hurt Lock, and instead Omos delivered a massive double handed chokeslam to Lashley, pinning him with one foot on the chest as a sign of dominance.
*The Street Profits [Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins] d. The Miz & Austin Theory by Pinfall to Retain the World Tag Team Titles Recent NXT call up Austin Theory was considered a hot prospect, and had been scooped up by The Miz to be his new "protege" (though really The Miz was attempting to leech his own career off of Theory's recent success on Raw). The two formed a team and attempted to wrestle away the World Tag Team Titles from The Street Profits. However the inexperience of The Miz and Theory as a team caused a communication problem, with Miz accidentally tripping up Theory at an inopportune time. Dawkins then hit a spinebuster, followed up by a Montez Ford high angle splash for the victory and title retention.
*The Fiend w/Uncle Howdy d. Edge w/Damian Priest by Pinfall in an Extreme Rules Match to Win the WWE Championship Bray Wyatt and Bo Dallas had been feuding with the Judgment Day off and on since Wrestlemania, and Edge's continued prodding at the pair had caused them to unleash their alter egos, The Fiend and Uncle Howdy, upon the Hall of Famer in this title match. Despite copious interference from Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley (as well as Finn Balor, who surprisingly officially joined the group as part of his own vendetta against the Wyatts), Bray was able to conquer Edge, hitting him with Sister Abigail onto a steel chair to win and regain the WWE Championship.
*Sami Zayn w/The Usos d. AJ Styles by Pinfall Sami Zayn had seemingly found a place inside the Bloodline faction, as an associate as nothing else (though the tribal chief, and to a lesser extent Jey Uso, seemed to merely tolerate his presence in the group). His interference had helped defeat AJ Styles on an episode of Smackdown, keeping the World Heavyweight Title on Reigns, leading to a one on one match between the two. At first, it appeared that Sami was on his own, which led to Styles nearly getting the victory. As the Phenomenal One set up for a Phenomenal Forearm, though, he was distracted by the arrival of Jimmy Uso on the outside. Styles kicked Uso away and climbed back into the ring to avoid an ambush from the outside, only to get caught with a Helluva Kick from behind to the back of the head, KO'ing him and allowing Zayn to pick up the victory.
*Liv Morgan d. Alexa Bliss w/Chelsea Green by Disqualification to Retain the WWE Women's Championship The feud between Liv Morgan and the Women's Tag Team Champions continued, with Alexa Bliss this time challenging Morgan for the Women's Championship. Bliss fared much better against Morgan than her partner had at Backlash, but still couldn't put Liv away. In the end, Green would interfere in an effort to "help" her partner, but it would lead to Bliss getting disqualified, leaving the Women's Tag Champions to bicker amongst themselves yet again as Morgan left with her title in tact.
*Cody Rhodes d. Seth Rollins by Pinfall in a Hell in a Cell Match The feud between Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins had not abated following their match at Backlash, with Rollins increasing his vitriol with Rhodes in the form of Mind Games, coming to the ring dressed as Goldust (as a reference to Cody's brother Dustin) and in polka dots (in reference to the late Dusty Rhodes). These, and other remarks made by Rollins, caused Rhodes to challenge the Visionary to a rematch inside Hell in a Cell. The match was made more dangerous due to a real life torn pectoral muscle that Rhodes suffered just prior to the event, leaving him obviously bruised and hurt to compete. The American Nightmare still gutted through the performance, taking everything Rollins had to offer and then some before eventually hitting the Cross Rhodes on Rollins three times and getting the pinfall victory, Celebrating to close the show.
Off-Camera Title Changes: June 10: The Young Tigers [Mia Yim & Xia Li] d. Alexa Bliss & Chelsea Green for the Women's Tag Team Titles June 13: Ricochet d. Xavier Woods for the United States Title June 13: War Raiders d. The Street Profits for the World Tag Team Titles

WWE Money in the Bank July 2, 2022 MGM Grand Garden Arena Las Vegas, NV
*Brock Lesnar d. Bray Wyatt w/Bo Dallas by Pinfall to Win the WWE Championship Brock Lesnar had made his return to WWE following Hell in a Cell, demanding that he receive another shot at Roman Reigns and the World Heavyweight Championship. Lesnar's former advocate, the Wiseman Paul Heyman, denied Lesnar's request, saying that the Beast Incarnate hadn't eliminated Randy Orton from the picture at Wrestlemania per their original deal (though Orton had subsequently suffered a near career ending back injury since that event, independent of Lesnar). Moreover, Lesnar didn't have "anything to offer the Tribal Chief." In order to correct this, Lesnar unexpectedly targeted the new WWE champion, Bray Wyatt, attacking him and Bo Dallas (and nearly breaking the Latter's arm with a Kimura Lock) to get a shot at Wyatt's title. Despite Wyatt and his brother utilizing their Mind Games on Lesnar at times in the build to the match, Lesnar's power and strength was too much to overcome, and he hit 2 F-5's on Wyatt to pick up the win and become WWE Champion once again.
*Logan Paul d. Sheamus, AJ Styles, Sami Zayn, Rey Mysterio, Damian Priest, Johnny Gargano & Seth Rollins to Win the Men's Money in the Bank Briefcase The men's Money in the Bank Ladder Match saw the return of "Social Media Maverick", Logan Paul to a WWE ring, amidst the other stars competing for the guaranteed title shot. All of the superstars, particularly Seth Rollins, targeted Paul and took him out of the match early, seemingly scuttling his chances for the briefcase. After a lengthy back and forth, it came down to Sami Zayn and AJ Styles each competing for the briefcase, when Paul came rushing back in and knocked down the ladder that both men were using to climb. Paul then set up his own ladder and managed to grab the briefcase, using a pair of brass knuckles to KO Seth Rollins who made a late charge for the case, winning himself a guaranteed world title match anytime for the following year.
*Drew McIntyre d. Omos w/MVP by Pinfall The Nigerian Colossus, Omos, had continued to run roughshod over the whole of WWE since easily besting the All Mighty Bobby Lashley the previous month, even taking out stars like Kevin Owens and Shelton Benjamin in his rampage. One person not afraid of Omos was former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre, who stepped up to face the Colossus at Money in the Bank. The match went like most of Omos' matches had gone prior to this one, with the Colossus dominating McIntyre early on. However, the return appearance of Bobby Lashley turned the tide, allowing McIntyre to come back and hit three Claymore Kicks on Omos to finally take down the giant, picking up the literally huge victory.
*Ricochet d. Xavier Woods by Pinfall to Retain the United States Title Shortly after Hell in a Cell, Ricochet had defeated Xavier Woods for the United States Championship. In the aftermath of that loss, Woods had blamed Kevin Owens backstage for the loss for no apparent reason, leading to a feud between the two that saw Woods upset the Royal Rumble winner on an episode of Smackdown. In Woods' rematch for the title, it looked as if he would defeat Ricochet after a ref bump, when Woods grabbed the US Title from ringside and looked to use it as a weapon. However Owens' music hit the PA, distracting Woods and allowing Ricochet to recover. The champion then hit Woods with a DDT onto the title belt before disposing of the evidence, then hitting a 450 splash for the victory and title retention.
*The Miz & Austin Theory & War Raiders [Erik & Ivar] Wrestled to a No Contest [War Raiders Retain the World Tag Team Titles] After the War Raiders successfully defeated the Street Profits for the World Tag Team Titles, the duo of The Miz and Austin Theory once again attempted to capture the championships. However, the Profits were at ringside, watching the match, and as it progressed it became clear that they would influence the outcome. In the end, all six men began brawling with each other, leading to the match being thrown out by the referee and the War Raiders retaining their titles.
*Ronda Rousey d. Mia Yim, Raquel Rodriguez, Becky Lynch, Nikki Cross, Rhea Ripley, Alexa Bliss & Chelsea Green to Win the Women's Money in the Bank Briefcase Similarly to Logan Paul's sudden return for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match, former Women's Champion Ronda Rousey had also returned in the leadup to the Women's Money in the Bank match, surprising everyone by entering and winning a "Last Chance Qualifying" Battle Royal to get into the match. Former Women's Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss and Chelsea Green fought between themselves for the most part, while recent NXT callup Raquel Rodriguez availed herself well. The match largely came down to Rhea Ripley, Becky Lynch and Rousey vying for the briefcase, with Rousey ultimately taking advantage of Lynch hitting Ripley with a Manhandle Slam off of a Ladder to climb the ladder and grab the briefcase, securing her own guaranteed title shot.
*The Usos [Jimmy & Jey Uso] d. The Donnybrook Club [Pete Dunne & Tyler Bate] by Pinfall to Retain the WWE Tag Team Titles Courtesy of their victory over Imperium the previous month, The Donnybrook Club had earned a match against The Usos for the WWE Tag Team Titles. However the feud between the Donnybrooks and Imperium was far from over, as Ludwig Kaiser interfered in the match in a crucial moment, distracting Dunne and allowing the Usos to hit Twin Superkicks followed by a Spear from Jey Uso to give the Bloodline the win.
*Bianca Belair d. Piper Niven by Pinfall to Retain the Women's World Championship Bianca Belair had continued as a fighting champion following her title victory at Wrestlemania, taking on all comers, including this match against the Scottish Siren, Piper Niven. Belair faced a strong size disadvantage against Niven, but to the surprise of many was able to power Niven up into a Kiss of Death and hit the finisher, picking up a hard earned win. After the match, Belair was confronted by the newly crowned Miss Money in the Bank, Ronda Rousey. Rousey didn't cash in her contract, but indicated by her words that she would see Belair at Summerslam.
*Roman Reigns w/Paul Heyman d. Matt Riddle by Technical Submission to Retain the World Heavyweight Championship Roman Reigns was initially set to defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Randy Orton in a Wrestlemania rematch. However, Orton suffered a major back injury before the event, leaving him unable to compete. His place would be taken by his tag partner, Matt Riddle, whom Reigns initially disregarded as a non entity. However Riddle's unique offense of strikes and quick moving aerial moves but the Head of the Table on his back heels for a while, and it seemed as if Reigns' lengthy title reign might be in jeopardy. However, Reigns would reassert his dominance and eventually lock in a Guillotine Choke on Riddle, getting the victory via technical submission. After the match, Brock Lesnar appeared on the rampway and held up his newly won WWE Championship, causing an intrigued look from the Tribal Chief as the show concluded.

WWE Summerslam Night One July 30, 2022 Nissan Stadium Nashville, TN
*Liv Morgan & Asuka Fought to a No Contest [Morgan Retains the WWE Women's Championship] The Empress of Tomorrow had made her return from injury before Summerslam, appearing to immediately challenge Liv Morgan for the WWE Women's Championship. Morgan accepted the challenge, though Asuka first had to win a Fatal Fourway #1 contenders match on Raw per Adam Pearce. The two women fought hard for the title, with Morgan again showcasing that she was not to be underestimated as a fighter. With both women down, it appeared an even match when suddenly Bayley made her return to the WWE from her knee injury. And she came with backup, bringing in Dakota Kai and former NXT Women's Champion Io Shirai with her. The three women stormed the ring and attacked both Morgan and Asuka, causing the title match to be thrown out. It was a 3 on 2 handicap, when suddenly Charlotte Flair came out to even the odds, chasing off the heel trio and standing with the babyfaces to end the segment.
*Kevin Owens d. Xavier Woods by Pinfall The feud between Kevin Owens and Xavier Woods had continued following Money in the Bank, with Woods blaming Owens for costing him the US Title and Owens simply not liking Woods' attitude. Despite Woods jumping the Prize Fighter before the bell, Owens would eventually get the best of Xavier, hitting him with a Stunner to pick up the victory.
*The Donnybrook Club [Sheamus, Pete Dunne & Tyler Bate] d. Imperium [Gunther, Ludwig Kaiser & Giovanni Vinci] by Pinfall The feud between the Donnybrook Club and Imperium had expanded to include their leaders, becoming even more intense after Gunther defeated Johnny Gargano in an unrelated match to become Intercontinental Champion (a title which Sheamus had never held). This six man tag quickly devolved into an ongoing battle, only slowing down once Imperium isolated Bate and kept him from tagging anyone in. Once Sheamus did tag in he cleared house, and began a chopfest with Gunther that left both men raw in the chest. In the end, Ludwig Kaiser would attempt a rollup on Sheamus, holding the tights for an attempted cheating win, but Sheamus would kick out. The Celtic Warrior then hit a Brogue Kick on Kaiser that KO'ed him and got the victory for the Donnybrooks, leaving the Ring General seething at his team's failure.
*DIY [Johnny Gargano & Tomasso Ciampa] w/AJ Styles d. The Usos [Jimmy & Jey Uso] w/Sami Zayn by Pinfall to win the WWE Tag Team Titles The reunited duo of Johnny Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa had won a tag team battle royal on Smackdown to crown #1 contenders to the Usos tag team titles, and had also teamed up with AJ Styles to counteract the presence of Sami Zayn on the outside. The Usos controlled the match early on, targeting the oft injured neck of Ciampa in an effort to take out the Blackhart and retain their belts, while Zayn and Styles mostly stayed out of the way. When Ciampa made a tag to Gargano and they began shifting the momentum, Zayn came out to try and help the Bloodline with interference, only for Styles to go after Sami, distracting the referee. As Sami snuck in while the ref was dealing with Styles, Sami tried to hit Gargano with one of the tag title belts, only for Johnny to duck and for Sami to accidentally hit Jimmy with the belt. Gargano then took out Zayn and tagged in Ciampa, who hit a Fairy Tale Ending on Jey to pick up the win for DIY and score the upset title victory.
*Finn Balor w/The Judgment Day d. Rey Mysterio w/Dominik Mysterio by Pinfall Shortly after Edge lost the WWE Championship, Judgment Day seemingly scored a victory when former enemy Finn Balor agreed to join the group. However this was a ruse, as Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley then turned on the group's founder Edge, with Priest hitting a Razor's Edge on him through an announce table to officially take over the Judgment Day. Eschewing the goth sensibilities of before for more of a street gang look, the Judgment Day then turned their attention to Rey Mysterio, or more specifically his son Dominik, with Rhea attempting to entice him to join the group. Rey said his son wasn't interested, and eventually challenged Balor to a match at Summerslam on his son's behalf. It was a fairly standard match, with Balor working over Rey's knee before Rey made his comeback. Despite the injured knee, Rey used his fast paced offense and hit Balor with the 619, before climbing the ropes to hit a Frogsplash. This caused Ripley to distract the referee while Priest tried to take out Rey, only for Dominik to jump up on the apron in between Priest and his father. In doing so though Dominik "accidentally" clipped Rey's knee, causing him to fall to the ground awkwardly. Balor then took advantage and hit a Coup de Grace on Rey for the win. After the match, Dominik helped his father to his feet, only to blindside him and kick his bad knee from behind. Dominik then elbow dropped the knee after ripping off the knee brace, doing damage to the injured leg before leaving with the Judgment Day, having officially turned heel.
*Bianca Belair d. Ronda Rousey by Pinfall to Retain the Women's World Championship The Night One main event featured Home State Superstar Bianca Belair (hailing from Knoxville Tennessee) defending her Women's Championship against the self professed Baddest Woman on the Planet, Ronda Rousey. Ronda had appeared at the end of Money in the Bank, issuing the challenge to Belair, and then officially on Raw the next night announcing her intention to cash in her Money in the Bank briefcase for the main event of Summerslam, something befitting a "star of her magnitude". Making things more interesting was when Adam Pearce announced that Becky Lynch, who had history with both Belair and Rousey, would be the Special Guest Referee for the match. Lynch called the match down the middle, and Belair had difficulty adjusting to Rousey's submission based style, as Ronda worked over the arm in an attempt to neutralize Belair's power. Rousey almost got the Armbar on Belair, only for Bianca to lift Rousey onto her shoulders, breaking the hold and then delivering the KOD for the hometown victory. After the match, Ronda offered her hand as a sign of good sportsmanship, only to grab Bianca and lock her in an armbar. Becky Lynch, still acting as referee, broke the hold and, when Rousey attempted to hit The Man, hit the MMA star with a Manhandle Slam, sending her scurrying out of the ring. Lynch then lifted Belair's arm in victory again, all while eyeing the title she once held to close Night One of Summerslam.
