The show starts off as per usual with the NTV sports march blasting
In a bout that had superb wrestling and great heat, Vader defeated Tsuyoshi Kikuchi in 9:05 by pinfall with a Power Bomb.
Vader finally gets another win against little Kikuchi though it's ulimately useless.
Rating: 77 B
In a good match, Akira Maeda defeated Johnny Ace in 11:41 by submission.
Rating: 81 B
In an exceptional match, Owen Hart defeated Takao Omori in 16:41 by submission with a Sharpshooter.
After the match, Owen helped up Omori, knowing what we know about Owen basically throwing the tournament, this puts into question who the true second of Sternness is...
Rating: 91 A In an exceptional match, Yoshihiro Takayama defeated Yoshinari Ogawa in 18:19 by pinfall with an Everest German Suplex Hold.
Ogawa and Takayama put on a banger as Takayama gains more momentum on his quest for the Tag Titles!
Rating: 91 A
In an exceptional match, Minoru Suzuki defeated Osamu Nishimura in 20:44 by pinfall with a Gotch-Style Piledriver.
Suzuki just now has to hope for the stars to align and he can still have a chance to win this tournament.
Rating: 98 A*
In a bout that had superb wrestling and great heat, Steve Williams defeated Takeshi Morishima in 20:44 by pinfall with a Backdrop Driver.
The Super Rookie, so close yet so far as Morishima sighs but walks out with Williams, knowing he came inches to being in the finals of his first Carnival...But with this, all Misawa has to do now is win...
Rating: 87 B+
In an exceptional match, Mitsuharu Misawa defeated Jun Akiyama in 26:33 by pinfall with an Emerald Flowsion.
After the match, Misawa looked down at Jun but thought better of going down to his level, leaving him dead in the ring, clinching his spot in the finals, to fight either Kobashi or Kawada...
Jun is helped out by the ring crew and is clearly out of it, having the get medical attention due to this match.Rating: 99 A*
In an exceptional match, Kenta Kobashi drew with Toshiaki Kawada in 30:00 when the time limit expired.
Rating: 99 A*
The match is done, and for the second time now, Kawada hit the damn Ganso Bomb and still lost. He sighs as Kikuchi and Taue dart into the ring to help their partners.
Kobashi after a few minutes sits back up as Kawada stands in the corner, looking annoyed at himself. It just appears as if him and Kobashi can't wrestle for less than 30 minutes.
Kawada walks over and shakes Kobashi's hand before walking out. Soon after Kawada leaves with the Holy Demon Army. Misawa comes out soon after and steps into the ring.
Misawa takes a mic.
"I guess I get to keep my promise Kobashi, I'll see you at the finals."
Misawa extends his hand to Kobashi and Kobashi shakes it, with that being the final scene before the finals...

What a ridiculously good final block day. I expected Akiyama vs. Kawada in the finals but you know... Misawadome Kobashi vs. Misawa is going to be a banger either way, just like some 3 or 4 matches in this card. Wow.

Event: AJPW Champion Carnival - Day 10 (Finale) Date: Monday, April, Week 3, 1999 Attendance: 16,500 in Nippon Budokan (NO VACANCY!!!) TV Rating: 8.06 (6,049,160 viewers) on Nippon TV Show Rating: 100 A* The show starts off as per usual with the NTV sports march blasting
In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, Vader defeated Johnny Ace in 10:58 by pinfall with a Power Bomb.
Vader is attempting to get back on track, but he needs something bigger in these coming shows to do that...same rule applied for Sternness btw, if they came out, immediate DQ.
Rating: 61 C
In a bout that had great wrestling and good heat, Nobuhiko Takada and Takao Omori defeated Osamu Nishimura and Kentaro Shiga in 19:10 when Nobuhiko Takada defeated Kentaro Shiga by submission with a Jujigatame.Rating: 81 B
After the match, Takada would grab a mic before nodding to Omori.
"Ya know, Kobashi and Kikuchi, I know ya'll are watching right now, I know ya'll got different things to do tonight but ya know what? Omori and I, we want a shot at those All-Asia Tag Titles you haven't defended in literal months."
Once Takada finishes his statement, a theme we haven't heard in a minute begins to play...
IT'S STAN HANSEN!!! WHAT'S HE DOING HERE??!?!?!
Stan walks to the ring and slides in, his first time since his retirement.
"Well hey there Takada, so you think you can just make title matches like that? Hell no partner! You see, after Baba's passing, Misawa and I had a talk, we needed a new direction for AJPW, a way to truly become the top promotion in Japan, and the way for Misawa to do that, in his eyes, is to appoint ME as the new PWF Chairmen to replace Lord James Blears!!! So you know what Takada, you make a point there, those titles haven't been defended, BUT I have a better idea for how you can earn a shot."
Takada looks on in, being a bit annoyed at not being given the shot.
"There's 3 more show until the Dome show, so during the Korakuen show, you and 3 other teams will face in an elimination tournament to then face Kobashi and Kikuchi in Ryoguku for those belts! I'll announce the 3 other teams on the next show as from this point on, I will be doing annoucements as well. See ya later partner!"
In a bout that had great wrestling and good heat, Tsuyoshi Kikuchi and Yoshinobu Kanemaru defeated Yoshinari Ogawa and Hayabusa in 14:15 when Tsuyoshi Kikuchi defeated Yoshinari Ogawa by pinfall with a Fireball Bomb.
Kikuchi and Hayabusa got into a really heated battle during this as the 2 men layed into each other with massive strikes. It appears as if these 2 have some tension building up over the Junior Title as we head into the dome show...
Rating: 77 B
In a bout that had superb wrestling and great heat, Gary Albright defeated Hiroshi Hase in 12:53 by pinfall with a Snap full nelson suplex.
Gary continues his domination as he was doing before his injury and beats Hase here, only god knows what would've happened if Gary would've won the Carnival...
Rating: 81 B
In an exceptional match, Kazushi Sakuraba and Minoru Suzuki defeated Jun Akiyama and Owen Hart in 21:15 when Kazushi Sakuraba defeated Owen Hart by pinfall.
Suzuki and Sakuraba were able to seperate Owen from Jun and used a great combo to put him away as Sternness was unable to cheat due to Misawa's ruleset.
This recent bias is clearly getting to Sternness and it's causing Jun to get annoyed, but he now has to tend to Owen so he can't do much of anything else tonight...
Rating: 88 B+
In a bout that had superb wrestling and great heat, Triangle of Power (Steve Williams, Yoshihiro Takayama and Takeshi Morishima) defeated Holy Demon Army (Toshiaki Kawada, Akira Taue and Masao Inoue) in 22:59 when Steve Williams defeated Masao Inoue by pinfall with a Backdrop Driver. Williams wins over the Holy Demon Army but not one of the 2 men he wanted to pin...they just need that extra little push, even with Takayama's singles wins it's just not enough right now for them to challenge. Rating: 91 A
Before the main event, a video on screen set to Red Hot Chili Pepper - Californication is played, highlighting the multiple fights between Misawa and Kobashi. This package also highlights Misawa's promo before the Carnival after his 2nd singles loss to Misawa. It shows their first matches together, the 1995 Pillars Tag where Kobashi layed on top of Misawa to save him, it goes over their entire history in a WWF Style Promo Package.
The final shots ends the same way Day 9 ending, with them staring at each other with the Budokan in the background before the Dome overlays them.
Before Kobashi comes out, a band comes onto the stage, with this years Carnival having a grand entrance way to get the right big match feel.
The band begins to play an extended and epic version of Kobashi's theme as the crowd chants a slow KO-BASH-I to the beat.
As the beat drops on his theme, Kobashi walks out to one of the biggest pops in Budokan history for his special entrance.
Orange Crush has arrived.
Before Misawa comes out, a bright green spotlight is highlighted on the entrance way as a Tiger Mask is setup on a pole as a Ballad Version of Misawa's theme begins to play. The tron begins to show Misawa's grandest moments as Tiger Mask before showing his unmasking and becoming the ace of AJPW. It shows his greatest wins as the great Ballad continues to play, until it gets to the 1998 Dome Show. What Misawa considers to be his biggest lose. The screen and lights go out until a single spotlight shines on Misawa's old bomber jacket that he wore on that night, it turns back off before finishing Misawa beating Jun to win the B Block.Once the Ballad ends, Spartan X blasts throughout the speakers of the Budokan. The Emerald Warrior has arrived.
In an exceptional match, Kenta Kobashi defeated Mitsuharu Misawa in 45:17 by pinfall with a Burning Hammer
Rating: 100 A* Kobashi has done it...
After one of the greatest matches of all time again, Kobashi has beaten Misawa with his ultimate move.
Kobashi's leg is ripped to shreads, he's just wrestled 45 minutes, and he's going to Main Event the Tokyo Dome again after winning the Carnival 2 years straight.
He raises the trophy up, Kobashi will get to face Akiyama to get his Triple Crown back.
Akiyama can't respond due to losing eariler tonight either, so this moment won't be spoiled thankfully.
The rest of Burning comes out to celebrate with Kobashi as he gets interviewed and celebrates.
Misawa eventually is able to get up from the Burning Hammer and shakes hands with Kobashi before rolling out and being helped out.
Kobashi is asked one thing. What's next?
"Getting my damn title back!!!"
And thus ends the 1999 Champion Carnival!
