The Biggest Brawl Of Them All

These are the results from WCW SuperBrawl V, being held by World Championship Wrestling. It is being held in front of 19,000 people at The Spectrum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It’s a Sell Out!

We get introduced to SuperBrawl V by Tony Schiavone. Our main event match will be a Thundercage match with Hulk Hogan vs. Vader for the WCW World Heavyweight title. Hogan is looking for revenge on Vader that has been attacking him on several occasions, while No 1 Contender Vader has a unique shot at the title. Tonight could be the End of Hulkamania, as Vader and his manager Harley Race is trying to injure Hogan and end his career.

Your hosts are Tony Schiavone, Bobby Heenan and Mike Tenay.

Tony Schiavone says that the fans are jam packed in the arena.

Let’s get to it!

Tony, Bobby, and “Mean” Gene Okerlund make predictions regarding the main event. They also state that “Nature Boy” Ric Flair is here tonight and will face a Mystery Challenger.

Johnny B. Badd vs. Paul Orndorff w/ Toni

“Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff is here to teach “The Badd Man” Johnny B. Badd a lesson or two. Badd works an Armbar. Orndorff takes over with Backbreakers and arrogantly poses like it’s a squash match against some local jobber. Badd goes for a Sunset Flip, but Orndorff punches him in the ribs in mid-air to stop it.

Orndorff is very heelish in his way, and played-up his superior physique bullying other Badd around…

Orndorff takes over with a Chinlock and uses the ropes for leverage. A Gorilla Press Slam from Orndorff, who then mocks Badd with some more bodybuilding poses. Badd elbows out, and connects with a stunning
Dropkick. Badd attempted to punch Orndorff, but Orndorff kept yanking him down by the hair.

Badd finally explodes with some flashy offense. Orndorff and his valet Toni engage in some heel miscommunication. Badd rolls him up for 1-2! Badd continues with his flashy offense. Orndorff is in trouble and Toni is getting involved. She tries to clobber Badd with her shoe, but smashes Orndorff over the head with it and Badd quickly goes for the Shooting Star Press to finish Orndorff off.

In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Johnny B. Badd defeated Paul Orndorff in 6:09 by pinfall with a Shooting Star Press following botched interference by Toni.

Randy Savage vs. Bobby Eaton

In a bout that had great wrestling, good heat and both wrestlers getting an equal amount of offense, “Macho Man” Randy Savage defeated “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton in 8:03 by pinfall with a Savage Elbow Drop.

Interview w/ The Four Horsemen

“Mean Gene” is in the aisleway and welcomes out Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Curt Hennig, Steve Austin, Elizabeth and Jeannie to a huge pop. Ric Flair puts over Philadelphia and all the partying and women he had in this very town.

“Mean Gene” asks him about Hulk Hogan vs. Vader tonight and Flair sidesteps it and instead decides to put over all of his Four Horsemen brothers and puts over the party afterwards tonight at the Ritz-Carlton and “Mean Gene” obviously wants in as the party will include lots of champagne and beautiful women.

Flair points out that he is the greatest WCW United States Champion of all time. He says that his “Mystery Opponent” will fail to take the championship away from him tonight. He and his fellow Horsemen are going to be victorious tonight. After winning their matches at SuperBrawl V they are living the jet set lifestyle and partying with the hottest chicks.

While Ric Flair talks, Mean Gene is checking Elizabeth and Jeannie out.

But the fact is, he’s Ric Flair, he’s the Nature Boy, and he’s already sick and tired of Randy Savage. He’s here to defend his title, but he makes the promise to take care of Savage later and to run him out of WCW.

He then wink’s into the camera before WOOOOOOO’ing and walking off.

Jim Duggan vs. Arn Anderson

The bout starts off with an wild brawl that spills to the outside.This was the good ol’ “Mid-South Hacksaw” and not the cartoony “WWF Hacksaw”. It was an pretty open and even match until “The Enforcer” surprises Jim Duggan with a Spinebuster.

In a bout that had fantastic heat and good wrestling, “The Enforcer” Arn Anderson defeated “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan in 6:07 by pinfall with a perfect Spinebuster. Arn Anderson makes defence number 5 of his WCW World Television Championship title.

The Steiner Brothers vs. Miracle Violence Connection w/ Col. Parker

It’s a open bout that had superb hard-hitting power wrestling and a excellent reaction from the crowd. It was a hard-hitting war with stiff Clotheslines, which then gave way to really hard Slams and Suplexes.

Rick Steiner catches Steve Williams coming off the middle rope and starts his comeback. Diving Bulldog!

Cover, 1-2-NO!

Col. Parker sticks Williams’s foot on the rope. Rick Steiner takes liberties with Col. Parker and brings him into the ring with a Suplex. Williams misses a Clothesline and floats out to the apron. Now Rick Steiner tries to Suplex him in, but Parker trips up Rick Steiner and Steve Williams falls on top while Parker holds Rick’s feet down for the 1-2-3.

Miracle Violence Connection defeated The Steiner Brothers in a No. 1 Contenders’ match in 16:21 when Steve Williams defeated Rick Steiner by pinfall after Col. Robert Parker interfered.

The Nasty Boys are ready for the Philly Street Fight tonight and will take Kevin Sullivan and One Man Gang to Nastyville for the last time. They’ll slap Woman’s face off if they have to.

The Nasty Boys vs. Kevin Sullivan & One Man Gang w/ Woman

This starts off with an awesome intense and stiff brawl that spills to the outside. All four wrestlers try to their opponents as hard as possible. Brutal powerbombs, reckless dives, and tons of chairshots ensured that all wrestlers left the battle bloodied and feeling like they’d been hit by trucks.

In a stiff garbage brawl that had superb heat, The Nasty Boys defeated Kevin Sullivan & One Man Gang in a Philly Street Fight match in 14:27 when Brian Knobbs defeated Kevin Sullivan by pinfall with a Trip to
Nastyville. Huge pop for The Nasties for winning the Philly Street Fight. The fans are pure red hot for the two big, burly mullet-hawk wearing street thugs.

Iron Man Match

Sting vs. Curt Hennig

Sting explodes with a flurry of Clotheslines and Dropkicks. It’s a back and forth match that went the distance, with both wrestlers having several great comeback segments. In an unbelievable match, Sting drew with Curt Hennig in an Iron Man match in 30:00 at two falls each.

Rating: 97 A*

Gene Okerlund says “This has been one of the best four or five pay per views I’ve ever been involved in.”

Interview w/ Vader

“Mean Gene” interviews “Rocky Mountain Monster” Vader and Harley Race backstage and Vader just destroys stuff. He is tearing the backstage area apart.

Harley Race says Vader’s held three different world titles from three different promotions on three continents making him the closest thing professional wrestling has ever had to a true world champion.

“Who’s the man?”

“It’s Vader!”

“Vader is the man!”

“I rule the WCW and no one can stop me!”

Vader yells that “Hogan finally will have to look into the Eyes of his Destructor” and flips out even more and storms off as Harley Race order the cameraman to stop filming.

WCW World Tag Team Title Match

Fire and Ice w/ Teddy Long vs. Harlem Heat

This match featured some good brawling and hard-hitting power moves. Champions Harlem Heat were fantastic at stooging for Ice Train and Scott “Flash” Norton, and it helped the crowd to really rally behind Fire and Ice.

Booker T misses a Jumping Hook Kick on Ice Train and crotches himself. Booker T thumbs the eyes to get a tag out to Stevie Ray. He misses a Corner Charge and is leveled by a stiff Clothesline.

Ice Train and Scott Norton works him over for a little bit, with hard-hitting power moves, until Stevie Ray gets away. Booker T tags in and gets worked over for a little while, but he comes back with a Dropkick on Norton that puts him on the floor. Back in, Stevie Ray eats a Clothesline from Norton and returns the favor with a Mule Kick.

Back on the floor, Booker T walks over and Superkicks Norton. Back in, Norton avoids an Elbow Drop and rolls out to the floor while Booker T Spinaroonies to his feet long. Meanwhile, Stevie Ray nails Ice Train with a Clothesline off the apron.

Back in the ring, the Heat cut off the ring with a Chinlock. Ice Train gets drawn in. Ice Train ducks a Clothesline and hits a desperation Powerslam to set up the hot tag to Scott Norton. He runs through Harlem Heat with big Clotheslines, but a knee to the back from Booker T slows him down. They whip him into the ropes and telegraph a Backdrop.

Norton set up for the big hot tag from Ice Train quite well and when they do the place actually goes nuts as Fire and Ice starts dominating Booker T with hard-hitting power moves. It ends when Fire and Ice defeated Booker T by pinfall with a Flashback followed by a Train Wreck.

In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Fire and Ice defeated Harlem Heat in 9:53 when Scott Norton defeated Booker T by pinfall with a Flashback followed by a Train Wreck. Fire and Ice win the WCW World Tag Team Championship titles.

Hogan says he’s ready for the latest challenge of Hulkamania. Even his family is worried about Vader hurting him tonight, but the Pythons are ready for Vader Time.

Hogan says he is going rise to the occasion and be a maniac tonight, brother.

Hogan is going to slam Vader and is going to beat Vader, brother.

He is going to tear Vader apart in Philadelphia, brother.

“So Vader, I’ve got somethin’ to tell you, when you come in front of all my Hulkamaniacs, be ready for the fight of your life, brother! There’s gonna be one thing that’s gonna happen to you! You’re gonna be laying at your back, looking up saying: ‘Please Mr. Hogan, don’t beat on me anymore!’ Then the Legdrop of Doom will destroy you!”

The mystery opponent is none other than former WCW International World Heavyweight champion Hiroshi Hase. The crowd’s hot and the open match has a ton of energy and drama! During the match, both wrestlers had great comeback segments.

In a bout that had great heat and good wrestling, Ric Flair defeated Japanese star Hiroshi Hase in a Two Out Of Three Falls match in 16:09 by two straight falls, with the final fall happening by submission with a Figure Four Leglock. Ric Flair makes defence number 1 of his WCW United States Championship title.

In a bout that had sensational wrestling and fantastic heat, “Superstar” Steve Austin defeated “Loose Cannon” Brian Pillman in a Best of Seven Series match in 16:07 by pinfall by using underhanded tactics by hitting Pillman with some brass knuckles when Jeannie distracted the referee.

Dustin Rhodes, Vladimir Koloff and Ray Traylor vs. The Stud Stable

This was wild hard-hitting brawling for the sake of brawling, and it was all very clearly done just to set-up the upcoming rematches between Dustin Rhodes vs. The Blacktop Bully; Ray Traylor vs. Meng; and Vladimir Koloff vs. Kurosawa.

The Blacktop Bully gets extra rough on Dustin Rhodes at numerous times, but Dustin has the hot comeback and hits the Corner Bulldog.

“The Russian Beast” Vladimir Koloff gets his shoulder posted early on and Kurosawa work the arm for a long time. Meanwhile Ray Traylor and Meng are engaged in a wild no-nonsense, take-no-prisoners brawl.

A smark in the crowd held up a “Repo” sign as the fans chanted KFC at Parker…

Dustin slams Blacktop Bully’s face in the cage. Blacktop Bully shrugs off a Monkey Flip out of the corner and levels Dustin with a Clothesline. Rhodes elbows out of a Chinlock, but then does the spot where he misses a Crossbody and goes crashing into the cage.

The bout is hard-hitting and reckless, with blood splattered around the cage and the mat.

Blacktop Bully looks to finish Dustin off, but ends up in a Surprise Cradle. The average working class guy Dustin Rhodes is bloody and beaten, but manages to end up winning the match for his team.

In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Dustin Rhodes, Vladimir Koloff and Ray Traylor defeated The Stud Stable (The Blacktop Bully, Meng and Kurasawa) in a Thundercage match in 15:47 when Dustin Rhodes defeated The Blacktop Bully by pinfall with a Surprise Cradle.

Hulk Hogan vs. Vader w/ Harley Race

Vader no-sells Hulk Hogan’s punches to start. ”Who’s the Man?”

We look over at Bobby Heenan who tries to hold back a smile…

Hogan tries to wrestle Vader with his one hold: the Cross Armbreaker takedown. Vader stands up out of it and stomps Hogan in the face. He corners Hogan and unloads a punishing barrage of strikes. Vader splashes him in the corner, causing Hogan to regroup.

Vader follows him, but Hulk reverses a Whip into the Thundercage that puts Vader almost into Harley Race’s face. Hogan delivers his ten-count corner punches and a Running Clothesline sends Vader down into the mat. Vader gets pounded some more before Hogan gets cocky and tries a Slam, which fails and Vader falls on him. Here comes Vader. Body Attack connects. Vader Bomb connects and the crowd goes wild!

A Vadersault misses! Vader ducks a clothesline and gives Hulk a Chokeslam! Vader corners Hogan again for a hellish beating and then gives him a Suplex.

Looks like it’s Hulk Up Time!

Hogan, shaking his fists, looks deep within himself and remembers what A Real American Hero is. The finger wag and the crowd goes nuts and he makes his big comeback!

Ten punches later, we have a Big Boot, and a Legdrop. Cover, 1-NO!! Vader presses Hogan off him! Body Attack by Vader sends Hogan into the referee.

Vader splashes Hogan, but the referee is down, so there’s nobody to count. Hogan jumps up and charges Vader with fists! Hogan Clotheslines Vader just as Harley Race attack Hogan from behind with the Stun Gun.

The referee wakes up as Vader gives Hulk the Powerbomb.

In an unbelievable match, Vader defeated Hulk Hogan in a Thundercage match in 16:24 by pinfall with a Triple Powerbomb after Harley Race interfered. Vader wins the WCW World Heavyweight Championship title.

Rating: 90 A

Post-match Beatdown

Unstoppable 450 pounds monster heel Vader continues his devastating attack on Hulk Hogan with those big fists. Vader splashes down onto Hogan a couple of times.

When…

Suddenly…

He is joined by “The Beast from the East” Bam Bam Bigelow…

Vader and Bam Bam Bigelow double team Hogan with a devastating Aided Release Powerbomb.

Bam Bam Bigelow traps Hulk Hogan on the mat while Vader goes up top and he’s going to attempt to break Hogan’s leg with the Vader Bomb, but the explosive and athletic bodybuilder Sting come bolting out with a steel chair. He brains Harley Race. He whacks Vader numerous times and he whacks Bam Bam Bigelow right in the face.

Eventually a number of officials and other wrestlers have to hit the ring and pull them apart before they kill each other.

Is this the end of Hulkamania?

Heenan is very pleased. This is hopefully the end of Hulk Hogan and Hulkamania. It’s a big grin on Heenan’s face as Hogan is removed on the gurney…

Hulk Hogan is rumoured to return at Fall Brawl or Halloween Havoc. Filming Season 2 of Thunder In Paradise will take up at least 6 months and Hogan seems to want to be a celebrity and actor more than he wants to wrestle in WCW and only gets in the ring these days to keep his face in the public.

CMLL saw a title change last night, as Negro Casas lost the CMLL World Middleweight Championship to Pierroth Jr. This victory marks his first reign with the title. Negro Casas managed eleven successful title defences prior to this defeat.

WCW has made the decision to add more PPVs to their 1995 schedule. The new PPVs are named Uncensored and World War 3. PPVs is by far the most profitable thing for WCW, but the question is how many PPVs can they add before they over-saturate the market? WCW adding more PPVs to their schedule almost certainly kills any possibility of them producing another AAA PPV. WCW and AAA had been negotiating for a date in June, but with WCW, UFC, and WWF all have PPVs scheduled that month, the chances that WCW will also run a PPV for AAA is highly unlikely.

ECW CyberSlam Report! Paul Heyman’s Extreme Championship Wrestling held ECW CyberSlam last night in OnCenter War Memorial, and drew 8,000 fans. The feedback has been that the show was awesome despite ECW stars like 2 Cold Scorpio, Sabu and Crash the Terminator being unavailable due to touring in Japan. In the main event Public Enemy defeated The Bruise Brothers and champions Shane Douglas & Mr. Hughes in a Three-Way Dance to win the ECW World Tag Team titles. While newcomer Lucifer Payne defeated Rhino and Steve Corino in a hard-hitting Three-Way Dance to win the vacant ECW World Television title. We also saw “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert returning to ECW, and defeating Rob Van Dam and Chris Candido in a Three-Way match and afterwards confrontating Paul E. Dangerously and his Dangerous Alliance. We also had Raven defeating Tommy Dreamer in a bloody Raven’s Rules match and post-match commanding his Raven’s Nest to attack Dreamer and put him through a table. The Sandman and Stevie Richards defeated Hardcore Swingin’ Freaks in a Street Fight, while the debuting tag team known as The Dudley Boyz defeated The Pitbulls in a hard-hitting Tables match and afterwards put both The Pitbulls and their valet Francine through the table.

At the Slamboree PPV in May, WCW will be inducting several wrestlers into their Hall of Fame. Confirmed so far are Dusty Rhodes, Fritz Von Erich, Dory Funk, Antonio Inoki and Jim Barnett. There was talk of inducting Ricky Steamboat, but that’s out the window now because Steamboat is contracted by WWF.

Maxx Payne signs with ECW as Lucifer Payne. A sinister, gritty, hard-hitting Harley Davidson riding character.

The Road Warriors have been negotiating a return to WWF and were scheduled to debut next month, but it’s been pushed back. Bringing in The Road Warriors is expensive and to justify their contracts, they would need to be involved in the tag title scene. WWF isn’t ready to job the two top tag teams; The Smoking Gunns and The New Blackjacks out to anyone just yet, so instead, they’ve decided not to sign The Road Warriors right now.

ECW signs indy sensations The Eliminators and The Dudleys to strengthen it’s tag team division. Heyman now has one of the strongest tag team divisions since ECW already have established tag teams as The Bruise Brothers, Public Enemy, The Pitbulls and Shane Douglas & Mr. Hughes.

The All-Time attendance record (set by Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant at WrestleMania 3) may be in jeopardy. The show being put together by Antonio Inoki in North Korea in April in conjunction with the North Korean government is going to be held at the 150,000-seat Mayday Stadium. New Japan will be heavily involved and negotiations are underway for WCW to also be involved.

ECW steals main eventer Chris Candido from rivals SMW. Candido is going to be part of the Triple Threat stable together with Shane Douglas and his bodyguard Mr. Hughes.

Gene Okerlund’s teasing of the death of a 45-year-old former champion on the WCW hotline last week has come under even more criticism. The tease worked, generating an all-time record number of calls to the hotline from people thinking Ric Flair had died, but was considered sleazy by pretty much everyone in the industry. Turner Broadcasting has gotten involved and said that deaths can no longer be used as hotline teases on TV, and forced Okerlund to apologize on the hotline the next week, though many said Okerlund’s apology seemed insincere.

ECW signs Brian Lee known as The Underfaker in WWF. Lee will debut in ECW as The Killdozer for Hire, one of Raven’s enforcers in the feud with Tommy Dreamer. Jim Cornette is reported to be furious that Paul Heyman has stolen yet another SMW star.

Hothead Jim Cornette has been in a long-time beef with Pro Wrestling Torch writer Bruce Mitchell due to something written about him in the Torch. Last year Cornette called both Mitchell and Wade Keller and left them a bunch of threatening voicemails about how he’d hurt them if he ever saw them. Bruce Mitchell evidently wasn’t shook because he attended a recent SMW show. Cornette didn’t find out about it until after the show and when he did, he called Mitchell and told him to never come to one of his shows again he’d go fight him right there in the crowd.

MAW to submit? Insiders have reported that MAW is all but doomed, and even the owners have admitted that the financial hole they are in is simply too deep to get out of. Some reports have gone as far as to say that the promotion will officially announce that it is closing at the end of the month.

WWF signs Brian Armstrong as The Roadie, an assistant and henchman to country singer “Double J” Jeff Jarrett.

The FMW Independent World Junior Heavyweight Championship changed hands last night, as La Parka became the new champion, ending the reign of Damian 666 after seven title defences.

In breaking news, it appears that the first shots in a war between ECW and AWF have begun. The respective owners, Paul Heyman and Paul Alperstein, are said to see each other’s promotion as obstacles that must be overcome at all costs. Where this rivalry will lead is anyone’s guess.

Sources within USWA have indicated that a plan is being hatched to put a major push behind Sid Vicious and turn him into a “Figurehead” for the the company. Violent Conduct (Homicide and Chino Martinez) began their first reign as PWA Tag Team champions last night, when they won the match to decide worthy champions for the previously vacant titles at PWA Slammiversary against American Kickboxer and Blitzkrieg.

Atsushi Onita put on a impressive performance last night, outlasting seven other competitors to claim victory in the annual FMW King of Barbed Wire Death Match tournament that were held at FMW Super Extreme Wrestling War. Onita defeated Yoshiaki Fujiwara, Mike Awesome and Vampiro to win the tournament.

XWF The Great American Classic Report! Xcitement Wrestling Federation held XWF The Great American Classic last night in Stegeman Coliseum, and drew 9,512 fans. The feedback has been great, it has drawn a lot of praise (74 B-). Jerry Sags was said to be the star of the show after defeating Mr. Mexico. In the main event we had Ed Leslie defeating Brian Knobbs to retain the XWF Heavyweight title.

Clips of The Stud Stable’s Press Conference

Clips of a press conference held by Vader, Bam Bam Bigelow, Harley Race and Colonel Robert Parker surrounded by Meng, Kurosawa, The Blacktop Bully, Miracle Violence Connection and their fans in which Vader and Bam Bam Bigelow announced their union as “Big, Bad, and Dangerous”. The two behemoths intend to run Sting and Hulk Hogan out of WCW. Harley Race and Col. Parker shake hands. The two managers have renewed their previous business relationship to create the ultimate monster tag team known as “Big, Bad, and Dangerous”.

Col. Parker puffs his Cuban cigar and then said that Hulkamania is ended and that they will end Sting as well. Parker says that The Stud Stable has merged with Harley Race International to create a Elite stable full of badass wrestlers.

Parker opens his briefcase and show Commissioner Bockwinkel the official documents of the merger between The Stud Stable and Harley Race International.

The Stud Stable will rule the World by kicking the asses of anyone who gets in their way. Their reputation as a badass is considered “Off The Scale”.

Col. Parker and Harley Race starts to go nuts and suddenly there’s a commotion; and Sting comes out from the back with a Steel Chair and tries taking shots at both Vader and Bam Bam Bigelow. Sting wants to be part of WCW Uncensored and wants a match with Vader and Bam Bam Bigelow at the event. Sting says that neither Vader or Bam Bam Bigelow will be able to defeat him at Uncensored because he have a surprise for them.

Tons of Security rush out and try to diffuse the situation and they eventually force Sting to the back while Commissioner Bockwinkel flips out at Vader & Bam Bam Bigelow and forces them in the other direction.

Commissioner Nick Bockwinkel gets on the mic and says Sting and his surprise partner vs. Vader and Bam Bam Bigelow in a Caged Heat Match at Uncensored is official and it will be unsanctioned because these people are crazy.

Ray Traylor vs. Nasty Ned

The fans are cheering for Ray “The Law” Traylor and are really into him. He totally destroys Nasty Ned with hard-hitting moves. “The Original Nasty Boy” Nasty Ned takes a hellish beating before succombing to the Enzuigiri. In an extremely stiff squash match, Ray Traylor defeated Nasty Ned in 0:47 by pinfall with an Enzuigiri.

Post-match, Ray “The Law” Traylor lays in a beating and a few slaps just because Nasty Ned is a mean and sleazy brawler that deserves it.

After the match, the vigilante Ray “The Law” Traylor goes over to Tony Schiavone to be interviewed. Traylor says that Meng needs to be worried for vigilante justice will prevail. Bam Bam Bigelow and Vader delivered devastating Splashes onto the poor jobbers to add further insult to the loss.

Vader and Bam Bam Bigelow continues to beat up the mullet wearing jobbers on the floor and drag them over to the interview set. Vader screams that this is on Sting’s conscience and that Big, Bad, and Dangerous will not be stopped. He says at Uncensored, there’s no rules, no WCW, no Commissioner Bockwinkel, just the end of Sting.

They beat up the jobbers some more and Powerbombs them straight down into the concrete floor just as Security swarms the arena.

Sting and Dustin Rhodes vs. Harlem Heat

”The Natural” Dustin Rhodes and Booker T started the match with Dustin working on Booker T early on with jabs. Sting enters and drops Booker T with a Clothesline after delivering a Big Boot. Rhodes comes off the top to deliver a Diving Clothesline and drops Booker T with a Sidewalk Slam. Harlem Heat work on Rhodes in their corner, but Rhodes escapes and tags in Sting.

Sting explodes with flashy offense. Sting hits a Dropkick on Stevie Ray and Rhodes hits another Double Diving Clothesline off the top rope. The faces are really getting the better of the heels by this point. Booker T
blocks a Big Splash off the middle rope by getting his knees up and goes to work on Sting with stomps. Sting nearly rolls Booker T up for a win but is instead worked on again by the heels.

Rhodes gets the hot tag and cleans house with Bionic Elbows and a Slam on Booker T. Rhodes is tossed to the floor where Stevie Ray gets a cheap shot in. Harlem Heat keep the advantage for a few minutes, but aren’t able to put Rhodes away. Booker T enters to nail Rhodes with an Harlem Sidekick, but Rhodes powers out at two.

Sting gets the hot tag and cleans house with right hands. Sting hits the Stinger Splash on Booker T and goes the Scorpion Death Lock, but Stevie Ray big boots him. Stevie Ray backdrops Rhodes over the top to the floor. Sting and Booker T collide on a Crossbody attempt. Stevie Ray rolls in and covers Sting while Booker T rolled to the floor, but only got a two count.

Suddenly there is a commotion as Big, Bad, and Dangerous makes their entrance.

Vader and Bam Bam Bigelow enters the ring and along with Harlem Heat attack Sting and Dustin Rhodes. The heels beat both Sting and Dustin Rhodes down into the canvas.

In a bout that had sensational wrestling and good heat, Sting and Dustin Rhodes defeated Harlem Heat in 16:20 when Booker T was disqualified when Vader and Bam Bam Bigelow ran in and attacked Sting.

Rating: 86 B+

Post Match Beatdown

Bam Bam Bigelow slams Dustin Rhodes while Vader just pummels his old foe Sting into oblivion. Bam Bam splashes down onto Dustin a couple of times! Vader is just about to finish Sting off with the Release Powerbomb, when the whole face locker room empties.

Here comes Vladimir Koloff, Ray Traylor and The Steiners and clears the ring.

Eventually a number of officials and security have to hit the ring and pull them apart before they kill each other.

Brad Armstong vs. Arn Anderson

“The Enforcer” Arn Anderson put the WCW World Television title on the line against one of the top jobber-to-the-stars in WCW, Brad Armstrong. Brad gets the early advantage by wrapping Anderson’s leg around the ring post a few times.

Armstrong, keeps working on the champs left leg. Armstrong nearly won the belt following a flashy Crossbody off the middle rope. Arn Anderson avoided a Splash in the corner and Armstrong hit the turnbuckles hard. Anderson ducks a Clothesline and plants Armstrong with the Spinebuster to retain the championship. WCW opened up negotiations with The Warrior and had a three hour meeting with him in Las Vegas, Nevada, but the talks went nowhere, with them being far apart on price as The Warrior turned down a $500,000 per year guaranteed contract. The Warrior is rumoured to instead go on the next AJPW tour.

The Iron Sheik announced today that he will be retiring from in-ring action in three months. The 51 year old was upbeat about the upcoming change, and friends say that he is looking forward to starting a new life behind-the-scenes of the industry.

Vince McMahon faxed a letter to WCW owner Ted Turner concerning the gratuitous violence WCW advertised for Uncensored and WCW announcer Gene Okerlund’s deceiving inducements for his Saturday WCW Hotline reports. McMahon cites Okerlund’s promising to reveal details on the “death of a 46-year-old former World champion” — which is in reference to Jerry Blackwell, who never actually held a World title, but is clearly worded to insinuate the death of Ric Flair — as the most egregious of “Mean” Gene’s sleazy come-ons. McMahon exhorts Turner that the negative publicity that resulted from the incident meant that it was detrimental to the industry as a whole, before cautioning that “the inmates are running the asylum” in WCW. Notably, Okerlund’s stunt brings in $40,000 worth of calls in one sitting, making it the most lucrative single-day report in the history of the Hotline.

As reported on this site a few months ago, it looks like Herb Brooks UWF are hanging on by a thread, and are on the verge of closure. The company, that is reported to be leaking money at a rapid rate, has been given just weeks to come up with the money they owe, or they will finally be forced to close their doors.

Phil Mushnick wrote a column about WCW in the New York Post last week and it wasn’t pretty. He wrote about the sleaziness of “Mean” Gene Okerlund teasing a dead world champion to get Hotline calls and made sure to repeatedly mention Ted Turner’s involvement. He also talked about the obvious steroid use in WCW, talked about Hulk Hogan’s past steroid use. Due to the publicity of the article and how it placed the blame at the highest level (Ted Turner), the article shook WCW to the point that they reportedly discussed changing the finish of the upcoming Uncensored main event.

Juventud Guerrera “The Real MVP”! Juventud Guerrera is said to have claimed that he should be given the chance to “carry” AAA, saying that he is the real star of the company, and is currently not a main eventer because “others” fear his superior talents and are holding him back.

Fuerza Guerrera title victory! The Mexican National Cruiserweight Championship changed hands last night at AAA Kings Of Wrestling, as Fuerza Guerrero became the new champion, ending the reign of Blue Panther after twelve title defences. This is the first time he has won the title.

New Japan will be holding a press conference this week to announce the lineup for the upcoming NJPW/WCW show in North Korea. It’s expected it will be headlined by the first ever Antonio Inoki vs. Ric Flair match.

The XWF Cruiserweight Championship changed hands last night at a XWF House Show, as Disco Inferno became the new champion, ending the reign of Chris Kanyon after eleven title defences. This is the first time he has won the title.

WCW apparently were counting on indie star Sabu agreeing to come in to participate in the Cruiserweight Tournament, but he really doesn’t want to burn his ECW bridge and apparently turned them down which led Eric Bischoff to use the working agreement with New Japan to get Super Tiger (Satoru Sayama) as replacement.

Emilio Charles Jr. title victory! The CMLL World Welterweight Championship changed hands last night at CMLL Super Viernes, as Emilio Charles Jr. became the new champion, ending the reign of Brazo de Oro after fourteen title defences. This is the first time he has won the title.

WCW is still planning to run their own UFC-style Pay-Per-View and have tentatively planned it for June. This pretty much eliminates any chance of them producing another AAA PPV, which was previously rumored for June.

A new promotion in Portland called Pacific Coast Championship Wrestling ran their first show this week and former “WWF Superstar” Roddy Piper made an appearance alongside longtime Portland promoter Don Owen.

Speaking of Roddy Piper, he has several movies coming out. One is called Jungleground, which he stars in and the other is called No Contest, which will feature Piper in a small role with comedian Andrew Dice Clay and Shannon Tweed.

Ichiro Yaguchi, Jason the Terrible and Leatherface began their first reign as FMW Six Man Street Fight Tag Team champions last night, when they took the titles away from Headhunter A, Mr. Gannosuke and Vampiro. Headhunter A, Mr. Gannosuke and Vampiro managed eight successful title defences prior to this defeat.

At an autograph session to promote his gym, Ric Flair was asked about Shane Douglas always calling him out. Flair essentially dismissed it and said he remembers when he was young and trying to make a name for himself and said you have to do whatever you can to get over.

Shane Douglas reportedly did the tryout for WWF Monday Night Raw color commentator this week and word is that WWF is also interested in bringing him in as a top babyface wrestler down the line. So far, Douglas hasn’t accepted the deal.

WCW is still reportedly very interested in bringing in the mysterious Paul Wight, but they haven’t settled on a gimmick for him yet.

Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff and Ric Flair had a meeting this week to discuss future plans for Hogan’s big comeback. Hulk Hogan wanted to create a new, different The Four Horsemen stable with himself, Ric Flair, Randy Savage and Sting, but Flair wasn’t thrilled of the idea.

WCW made a big appearance at the annual Toy Fair in New York, spending a ton of money on advertising their new toy line. Some called it a “Power Rangers-level of advertising.” WWF advertising was pretty much an afterthought in comparison. Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, and more showed up to represent WCW and were hugely popular. All the promotion was centered on burying WWF with the autograph lines urging people to “come over and meet real wrestlers.” WWF sent Diesel and Bret Hart and their autograph lines were nothing compared to the WCW lines.

Tony Schiavone had an interview with Ray Traylor hyping his upcoming Baseball Bat on a Pole Matchwith Meng at Uncensored.

The vigilante Ray “The Law” Traylor tells Schiavone is that he isn’t disappointed at being removed from his position as “The Official Strong Arm of the Law”.

Traylor was rewarded by WCW by having his handcuffs and badge taken away from him. He stopped trying and began living for himself and will do everything it takes to lay down the law. Traylor isn’t playing any silly games with Meng at Uncensored. He is going to take that Baseball Bat and use it to end Meng’s career and then he will come for the Colonel and the rest of The Stud Stable.

Johnny B. Badd vs. The Hustler

In a decent match, Johnny B. Badd defeated The Hustler in 5:58 by pinfall with a Shooting Star Press.

The Hustler vociferously protests to the referee that his opponent did cheat. Accompanied by a frenzied voice and wild pantomimes The Hustler claims that his hair was pulled by the other wrestler to score the victory.

During the match we also had the narcissistic bully “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff watching the match from the ramp.

The latest “Ultimate Surprise” news! With Hulk Hogan trying to recreate his Hulkamania peak, by bringing with him all of his old cronies and favourite foes like Jimmy Hart, Randy Savage, Brutus Beefcake, “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, John Tenta, Brian Blair and many more, obviously he’d have loved to have added The Warrior to the mix too, but with WCW under pressure to keep their spending under control, he seems to be out of their price range.

Segments of the latest Monday Night Raw were filmed by “MTV Sports,” hosted by Dan Cortese. During the episode, Cortese was shown training in the ring before the show with WWF World Champion Bret Hart, Razor Ramon, and Ricky Steamboat. Later in the show, Cortese was kicked out of the heel locker room after having a confrontation with Shawn Michaels, Diesel, Jeff Jarrett, Jake Roberts and others.

Brian Adams known as Crush in WWF was arrested in his native Kona, Hawaii, on illegal drug possession and illegal handgun possession charges. A search of his home had turned up several illegal handguns, as well as large quantities of marijuana and anabolic steroids.

Business-wise, the Hulk Hogan vs. Vader feud has the potential to be the most successful in WCW’s history so far. In “The Match of the Night” that had hard-hitting action and great heat, Public Enemy defeated The Bruise Brothers in a Tables match. Public Enemy make defence number 3 of their ECW World Tag Team Championship titles.

In a tag team match Raven and The Killdozer for Hire defeated Tommy Dreamer and Stevie Richards, when Raven defeated Stevie Richards by pinfall with an Evenflow DDT following interference by The Eliminators.

In the main event, Sabu defeated The Sandman and Shane Douglas in a Three-Way Dance match, when Sabu defeated The Sandman by pinfall with an Arabian Facebuster. Sabu makes defence number 12 of his ECW World Heavyweight Championship title.
