Sunday Night Heat
No DQs, No Count OutsRikishi and Scotty Too Hotty vs. The Basham Brothers (Doug and Danny Basham)
- After WrestleMania, the WWE Tag Team Title division blew up in a positive way. Things went a bit haywire fast, with every tag team wanting a shot. A mini tournament was set-up between the Dudleys, the Bashams, Kendrick and London, and Charlie and Rico that ended with the Dudleys beating Kendrick and London in the finals to earn a shot at Rikishi and Scotty. The match that took place had an unfortunate end for the then champs, as the Bashams interfered to cost them the titles. Earlier in that same night, Rikishi and Scotty insulted the Bashams for their former lifestyle, referencing their former manager Shaniqua. They obviously took umbrage with this if their attack was any solution, and their follow-up the following week in their title rematch. Another mini tournament was set-up by the new GM (replacing Paul Heyman following his drafting and subsequent quitting from Raw) to crown new #1 contenders. The first match pit the Bashams against Rikishi and Scotty and it ended in a No Contest, thus ensuring the contendership would go to the other first round match. Another tag team match was made the following week, but when it ended in a similar way, the new GM made this match for Heat, with the stipulation added that there are No DQs or count outs, with the goal of ensuring a winner. Can the team of friends and longtime allies of Rikishi and Scotty finally defeat the Bashams to finish this feud? Or with the brothers sneak out with a victory here to conclude this rivalry?
Main Card
The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray Dudley, D-von Dudley, and Spike Dudley) vs. Billy Kidman, Paul London, and Brian Kendrick
- In the previously mentioned contendership tournament for the WWE Tag Team Titles, London and Kendrick faced the Dudleys in the finals. The Dudleys cheated to win when Spike Dudley "accidentally" hit London with a diving dropkick while the referee was indisposed with Kidman on the apron. This "accident" happened against very similarly the following week when Spike nailed Scotty with the title in an attempt to hit D-von. With the ref with Rikishi, who was trying to take out the interfering Bashams, Scotty was left the victim of a 3D, crowning new champions. In the second #1 contender tournament that was set-up, the semi-final match (that became the final match due to the aforementioned No Contest) was between Kendrick and London and Charlie and Rico. Kendrick and London fought hard, but it was Kidman who made the difference, leading to the high-flying duo picking up the win. On the go-home show, the Dudleys faced London and Kendrick for the Tag Titles, and it was then that Spike's "accidental" interference was revealed to be a ruse. He attacked Kidman at ringside and nailed London with a chair went he went for a 450 Splash. One 3D later, and the Dudleys were reunited, with Spike soon revealed as the mastermind of the group. With their opposing trio looking for revenge on their fellow cruiserweight, the new SmackDown! GM made this 6-man tag team match. Can the Dudleys continue their string of momentum on the way through the high flying trio? Or will Kidman, Kendrick, and London prove too much for those damn Dudleys?
WWE Cruiserweight Title
Chavo Guerrero (C) with Chavo Classic vs. The Hurricane
- Chavo had a bit of a frustrating time after WrestleMania. With his meal ticket in Paul Heyman on the outs as GM, the new GM was less willing to give Chavo any leeway. The new GM put together a cruiserweight battle royal to crown a new challenger, and when it ended up being a tie between Hurricane and Jamie Noble, Chavo was furious. A #1 contendership match was set-up the following week, but Chavo and his father interfered to ensure that there was no winner. This was alleviated the following week, when the new GM put Chavo in a triple threat for his title. He managed to sneak away the winner by pinning Noble, but with a slot open for Judgment Day, the new GM made Chavo defend his title against the person he didn't pin in the masked superhero. Chavo was furious, and attempted to make a deal with Jamie. If he took out Hurricane before Judgment Day, he was ensure Noble would get the match instead. This didn't go to plan, with Hurricane pulling some superhero tricks to escape Noble's attempts. On the go-home show, the two men faced in a match, but when Noble attempted to whack Hurricane with a chair, the superhero pulled out one more trick, ensuring he got the pin. Right afterwards, Chavo and his father attacked Hurricane, beating him down and nearly unmasking him if the referees didn't interfere. Is Chavo heading into Judgment Day with enough drive to keep his title? Or will Hurricane pull out yet another superhero move to regain the Cruiserweight Title?
Matt Anoa'i vs. Charlie Haas with Rico and Miss Jackie
- One of the newest members of SmackDown! in Matt Anoa'i wasted no time in proving himself. He faced Funaki in his first match and dismantled the poor bastard in under a minute. In the weeks following, many superstars fell victim to Matt in a short amount of time. Eventually, Matt faced Rico in the ring. Rico proved a bit tougher to beat, but in the end, Matt still walked away the winner. When he went to make things worse, Charlie interfered and actually managed to get Matt out of the ring. The two were set to face the following week, but the match never got going, with the two of them brawling around ringside, ending with Charlie whacking Matt with a chair enough to send the Samoan sprinting. The new SmackDown! GM made this match with the hopes of finding a clear winner. The go-home show was a tag match between Haas, Rico, and the team of Matt and another new member of the roster in Luther Reigns. The match ended with Rico managing to hit a moonsault to Luther, but Matt interfered. Things broke down from there, and another No Contest occurred. Haas and Rico managed to get the duo out of the ring, but now the stage is set. Was this partnership with Luther merely a case of convenience, or will he make himself known in this match, looking for revenge on the stylist? Or will Haas overcome the Samoan and walk away the clear-cut winner?
Triple Threat Match for the #1 Contender of the World Heavyweight Title
Rob Van Dam vs. Rey Mysterio vs. John "Bradshaw" Layfield
- The new SmackDown! GM came in guns a blazing, and set-up a tournament to crown a new #1 contender for the World Heavyweight Title. Four men won qualifying matches to earn their way in (RVD beat Rene Dupree, Rey beat Test, JBL beat Hardcore Holly, and Y2J beat Chuck Palumbo). The next week involved a Fatal 4-way between the four men that lasted nearly 45 minutes. All four men put in stellar quality work, but in the end, Y2J walked out the winner following a Lionsault to JBL, getting the pin moments before Rey could pin RVD with a West Coast Pop. Afterwards, the new GM was so impressed, that he made this Triple Threat in hopes of a repeat. The winner is the #1 contender following the main event, no matter who wins. RVD is on SmackDown! now, and following a highly successful 2003, he is looking to finally make the step-up to World Champion and actually be Mr. Thursday Night. Rey has graduated himself out of the Cruiserweights, and is looking to hold major gold, the Big Gold to be exact. JBL has just come off his recent change of personality, and wants to cement his status has a representative of the people by winning the World Heavyweight Title. The three men exchanged victories over the other two in various manners (JBL beat Rey and RVD one-on-one, RVD and Rey beat JBL in a handicap match [made because JBL said he could beat 'em both], Rey ended up beating RVD one-on-one, and RVD beat Rey with JBL as special ref on the go-home show). Following that go-home show match, JBL left both RVD and Rey down with a pair of Clotheslines from Hell. Can JBL make good on his guarantee by becoming the new #1 contender? Will Rey use his cruiserweight tactics to get a shot at the heavyweight title? Or will RVD utilize his momentum from last year to ride the wave towards the Big Gold belt?
WWE United States Title
John Cena (C) vs. Test
- Test won the match at WrestleMania that ensured him an open contract for the World Title. As such, he didn't care what he did, acting in a similar manner to how he was when he had immunity from being fired most of last year. He was so confident, that he promised he could beat anybody in an open challenge. Orlando Jordan answered the call, and despite his first efforts, Test still beat him following a Big Boot. Test wasn't done, and looked to use a chair to further injure the rookie, but Cena interceded. Test took exception to this, criticizing Cena and his manner of dress and personality. A match was made between the two men one-on-one, with Test picking up the win following an unseen low blow and usage of the ropes. Test suddenly wanted claim to the US Title, with the new SmackDown! GM giving him a shot at Judgment Day due to his victory over Cena. The two men exchanged words over the course of the following weeks, with Test promising anybody on SmackDown! $50,000 if they could take Cena out. Many men tried, but at the end of the night, Cena managed to not only beat Nunzio (who tried in vain) but also send the $50,000 out into the crowd, leaving many fans going home happy. Test was furious, and beat Cena the following week, leaving him dismantled in the middle of the ring. Test said he didn't deserve the US Title and claimed it for his own. With Test having procession of the US Title itself going into this match, will Cena be in the right mind to retain and topple the big man, or will Test take advantage of an emotional and weakened Cena by beating him to become the new champion?
The Undertaker with Paul Bearer vs. Chuck Palumbo with Paul Heyman
- Following the 2004 draft, a newly fired Paul Heyman showed up on SmackDown! despite no longer being a member. The new GM agreed, but Heyman refused to leave. It was then that a collection of babyfaces that Heyman has made their life a living hell for (Holly, Rikishi, Scotty, Cena, Hurricane, and Rey) all came out to circle the ring, each one making Heyman more and more nervous. But before they could do anything, the gong struck and the lights went off, with The Undertaker and Paul Bearer appearing in the ring when they came back on. Heyman tried to flee, but the faces threw him back in, leading to a Chokeslam and Tombstone. After another couple weeks, Paul Heyman appeared via recording, ensuring that without him SmackDown! will fail, and that he will continue to serve his role after signing a new contract as a manager. But he needed a client, and he searched the SmackDown! roster all over for the best candidate to fulfill his new goal: the destruction and demise of The Undertaker. The next week, after The Undertaker defeated Rene Dupree, Chuck Palumbo popped in and attacked The Undertaker. He laid him out with clotheslines and slams, eventually ending with the Natural Thriller. When that wasn't enough, Chuck hit another one before Heyman came out, revealing his new client. Over the course of the next few weeks, Undertaker played mind games with Chuck, distracting him and leaving him shook. He searched for alternate methods to defeated him, and eventually found Mama Sangre. She instructed him to find dirt from an unmarked grave to counteract the Undertaker's powers. Chuck did as asked despite a reluctant Heyman confident it wouldn't work. On the go-home show, Chuck faced Holly one-on-one. At the end, Chuck instructed Heyman raise the dirt up like Undertaker's urn, and an embarrassed and reluctant Heyman agreed. Chuck was seemingly motivated, tearing Holly apart in a matter of minutes. Afterwards, Chuck called out the Undertaker, much to Heyman's disagreement. The Deadman agreed, and the two ended up brawling. Following Heyman attacking Bearer, it was enough distraction for Chuck to dismantle the Deadman with a chair, leaving him bloodied and barely conscious. Heyman went for the urn, but Chuck had him grab the dirt. Heyman agreed, but kept his eyes on the urn. With both Undertaker and Bearer now personally agitated, can Palumbo utilize his special dirt or at least renewed confidence to complete Heyman's goals? Or is the urn's energy much more powerful, enough to defeat Palumbo?
World Heavyweight Title
Eddie Guerrero (C) vs. Chris Jericho
- The GM of SmackDown! was revealed by Mr. McMahon on the SmackDown! following the draft. And following his unfortunate attack a couple weeks prior, left him unable to compete for the foreseeable future. Mr. McMahon ensured the SmackDown! audience that they finally have a GM who will look out for their best interests and in the best interests of the furthering the SmackDown! brand. Without any further delay, he introduced the new SmackDown! GM!
KURT ANGLE!
The recently injured superstar has been forced into a wheelchair following the vicious assault by Big Show post-Mania. And with a new direction for his career comes a new change, and he is thankful to Mr. McMahon for the opportunity. He wasted no time by establishing new fair #1 contenderships for most of the titles, including Eddie's World Heavyweight Title, who was the most vocal of Angle's new reign. The two of them haven't been seeing eye-to-eye since Mania, and wanted assurance that there would be no funny business involving his title, one he has become increasingly paranoid about. Eddie sat by and watched the major Fatal 4-way match for his challenger ended with Y2J coming out the winner. The next week, Angle set-up a contract signing, with Eddie and Jericho giving respect to the other and referencing their past history overseas and in WCW. Eddie was the most vocal about it being now, and while Eddie has evolved past the lower card he was forced into in WCW and ECW and New Japan (referenced directly), he does find comfort that Y2J is still in a level just below the major championships. After a brief reminder that he was the first man to unify the WCW, WWE, and ECW titles together, Jericho questions Eddie's attitude regarding the belt. The two look to come to blows, but after signing the contract, they shake hands. The following weeks feature the two of them having a very tense relationship, with one not letting the other get attacked after a match, but also both men equally cautious of the other. It all comes ahead on the go-home show when Eddie and Y2J team to take on the Bashams. It ended about as well as you might expect for the latter team, with Jericho making Doug tap out with the Walls of Jericho. But it's worth noting that Eddie never tagged in, at times refusing to do so and letting Jericho take the entire thing. Afterwards, Eddie took out an attempted sneak attack by Danny. A clearly weakened Jericho attempted to shake hands with Eddie, but Eddie merely smirked and raised his title. Is Eddie's confidence and paranoia enough to keep the title he fought so long to claim? Or can Jericho regain the Big Gold belt in what is sure to be an epic contest?

Sunday Night Heat
No DQs, No Count OutsRikishi and Scotty Too Hotty vs. The Basham Brothers (Doug and Danny Basham)
- In a hard hitting match that ended up taking longer than anybody anticipated (just over 10 minutes), it took the Bashams sending Rikishi through the announce table and isolating Scotty to wrap up their feud. A hard hitting shot with a night stick into a leg lariat sealed the deal and gave the Bashams the win here.
Main Card
The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray Dudley, D-von Dudley, and Spike Dudley) vs. Billy Kidman, Paul London, and Brian Kendrick
- The Dudleys and the Cruiserweights fought hard in a match given plenty of time. Every man had an opportunity to showcase their talent. Unfortunately, it was Spike's change in demeanor which ultimately led to his fellow Cruiserweights' demise. Whilst Kidman took out Bubba and D-von with a springboard Shooting Star Press, Spike was nearly victim to a Sliced Bread #2. Fortunately for him, he reversed it mid-move, sending Kendrick collapsing to the mat back first and causing what Tazz called a system reset. A quick dropkick sending London flying off the apron and Spike rolled Kendrick up, placing his feet on the ropes for the added pressure, unseen by the referee, and claimed the three.
WWE Cruiserweight Title
Chavo Guerrero (C) with Chavo Classic vs. The Hurricane
- Hurricane took it to Chavo fast and loose as the match started, but a well timed Classic distraction caused Chavo to dropkick Hurricane mid-flying crossbody. Chavo capitalized soon after, taking Hurricane down and trying to desperately stop him getting up. Eventually, Chavo went for a Gory Bomb, which Hurricane reversed into a sunset flip. Chavo kicked up, but when they got up, Hurricane took Chavo down. Classic got on the apron, yelling at the ref. Hurricane hit a leg catapult to Chavo, sending him into Classic. When Chavo turned around, Hurricane hit a Chokeslam to pick up the THREE AND WIN THE TITLE!
Matt Anoa'i vs. Charlie Haas with Rico and Miss Jackie
- A match put together solely to showcase the Samoan showed more offense out of Charlie than I think anybody thought. After dodging a Flying Big Splash, Charlie, through the pain of a well-worked over abdomen, continued to take it to Matt. He even managed to hit a German Suplex that scored him a two. Charlie went for a Flying Clothesline, something ill advised by Tazz, and that proved to be his downfall. Matt reversed the maneuver mid-air into a Samoan Drop. He wasn't done yet, and Matt picked Charlie up, launching him into the ropes. On the rebound, he threw Charlie up into a pop-up Samoan Drop that settled the match once and for all.
Triple Threat Match for the #1 Contender of the World Heavyweight Title
Rob Van Dam vs. Rey Mysterio vs. John "Bradshaw" Layfield
- Three of SmackDown!'s top superstars did battle for the opportunity to challenge for the top prize of the blue brand. RVD and Rey took out JBL early to allow themselves an even match-up. RVD looked like he might've had it too with a Five Star Frog Splash, but JBL pulling RVD out put an end to that quick. RVD hit a Powerbomb to RVD on the floor, allowing him and Rey to do battle. For a bit of time, JBL overpowered Rey, keeping him down with strikes and chokes. JBL went for a Powerbomb, but Rey reversed it into a hurricanrana, sending JBL into the middle rope. Rey hit a 619. He went for a West Coast Pop, but RVD sprung up mid-move and hit a bulldog from the top rope that was scarily close to ending badly. JBL threw RVD into a turnbuckle shoulder first and pinned Rey to nearly steal it, but Rey kicked out. JBL went for a Clothesline from Hell to Rey, who ducked, leading JBL right into a spin kick by RVD. Rey dropkicked JBL into the ropes, allowing for another 619. RVD kicked JBL down to the mat and went up top. Rey saw RVD in action and quickly made chase. RVD leapt over Rey, and the two traded grapples and reversals for a bit of time. Eventually, RVD managed to reverse Rey's bulldog into a back suplex. RVD then hit a Rolling Thunder onto JBL. RVD went up top one last time, and had to choose who to hit it. He opted to hit a Five Star Frog Splash to JBL, which was just enough of an opportunity Rey needed to dropkick RVD into the middle rope, hit a 619, and a West Coast Pop to claim victory.
WWE United States Title
John Cena (C) vs. Test
- The two men took to battle immediately, and it was a slugfest from start to finish. It was hard-hitting, and neither man was willing to give the other any rest. At one point, Test hit Cena with a pumphandle slam onto the floor. At another point, Cena hit an FU to Test over a barricade, sending him onto the exposed floor of the crowd. But eventually, it had to end, and after kicking out of a Big Boot, Test was furious. He went for another one, but Cena ducked it, getting Test's leg caught on the top rope. He tried to get out, but Cena capitalized, catching the unexpecting big man with an FU to claim victory and retain his title.
The Undertaker with Paul Bearer vs. Chuck Palumbo with Paul Heyman
- Chuck gave Undertaker some bit of a business, but the writing was on the wall the entire time. That didn't stop Chuck from getting a good bit of offense in on the Deadman. He even nearly had it won after a Superkick and Natural Thriller kept Undertaker down for a two count. Alas, Chuck got desperate, and against Heyman's advice, threw the blessed dirt into Undertaker's eyes. Chuck tried to fight off that, but Undertaker was unaffected. A shocked Chuck fell victim to the usual suspects: Snake Eyes, Big Boot, Chokeslam, Tombstone. Heyman left after the Chokeslam, not sticking around to see his latest client's failure against the Phenom.
World Heavyweight Title
Eddie Guerrero (C) vs. Chris Jericho
- It was the main event, and these two men were given a LOT of time to do what they do best, and boy howdy they did it. Both men took turns in the match showcasing why they're some of the best in the world. But no matter how good you are, a winner must be crowned. Y2J had Eddie locked in the Walls of Jericho for a long bit of time, but Eddie fought out of it, getting to the ropes. With the crowd at his bad, Eddie fought back against Y2J. After a Three Amigos, Eddie looked poised to climb up. He was distracted by the glint of the gold, and grabbed both it and a chair, despite consternations from Cole. He threw the title in the ring, allowing Y2J to be set-up for a chair shot. Chris saw it coming, and ducked, sending the chair and Eddie down. Jericho grabbed the chair and blasted Eddie in the head with it. After ditching the evidence and hitting a Lionsault, a now bleeding Eddie kicked out. The two fought for another five or so minutes with Eddie's bloodloss not slowing down to an alarming degree. Jericho went for another Walls, but Eddie reversed it into a roll-up for a two. Chris hit an Enzuguri that rocked Eddie enough for what was NEARLY a three. Jericho went for a Lionsault, but Eddie got his knees up. Eddie and Y2J met after the double down, and started trading shots. Eventually, Eddie reversed one into a DDT. Eddie went up top, but Jericho caught him. They fought some more, with Eddie resorting to eye gouges and headbutts to violently sending Jericho to the mat. A resounding Frog Splash followed, but Eddie fought through the pain and the blood to climb up top one more time. He hit one more Frog Splash to assure himself the victory. Afterwards, with the blood from his face leaking like a faucet onto the Big Gold, him and Jericho nervously shook hands.
